History

Established in 1978.

Dr. Michael Szikman moved from Canada to Atlanta in the late 1970’s and took over an existing Cobb County dental practice. Beginning with two front office staff, one chairside assistant and one dental hygienist, Dr. Szikman began growing his practice. His twin sons chose to follow in his footsteps and graduated dental school in 1998. To accommodate the new doctors and accompanying staff, the office relocated to larger space above the Bank of America Building on Windy Hill Road. Dr. Stewart Szikman joined his wife’s dental practice in 2006, and Dr. Richard Szikman continues to work alongside his father at the Szikman Dental Group. The practice now has 15 staff members, including four front office staff, four chairside assistants, and four full-​time dental hygienists.

Business Owner

Michael Szikman received his D.D.S. from McGill University in 1968. As a student, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity since 1964. He began his private practice in Montréal, Canada and taught at McGill University as well. In 1978, he and his wife Fran, whom he married in 1967, relocated to Atlanta and he resumed his practice there. He taught dental courses at Emory University when he first arrived in Atlanta, until the dental school at Emory was phased out. Dr. Michael Szikman has served as President of the Atlanta Chapter of Alpha Omega, and also served four years as Regent. He has been a Foundation member-​at-​large for seven years, and has attended numerous international conventions over the past three decades. He also facilitated the Alpha Omega Externship Program for dental students involved in the fraternity.

Dr. Michael Szikman, along with his son, Dr. Richard Szikman, maintain a general dental practice with a focus on prosthetics and cosmetic dentistry.
