The Cambridge at Buckhead Apartments

Just a quick update on the outrageous power bill situation! We provided 3 years of power bills, and request to be compensated for their neglect! Of course they said no! What else would you expect! For your pleasure, I’ve posted a couple power bills!
On top of that someone got rob at gun point right outside the property, and cars were broken into 3 weeks ago.

I’ve lived here for almost a year and have had nothing but subpar experiences with the management and community. I moved in site unseen to learn that my bedroom was beside the community car vacuum so I am constantly woken up by people vacuuming their cars (the vacuum doesn’t work that well though — the first of many problems you’ll hear about). A list of maintenance issues I requested at my move-​in date (September 2014) is still not complete. The gate has been broken for months now and my car and several others were broken in to a few days ago. Maintenance constantly enters my apartment when I am not home and without notification even though I have requested to be notified every time I put in a maintenance request. Packages have been «lost.» I was bitten by a neighbor’s dog. My water heater broke and flooded my dining room and it took two days for them to repair — I was not given new carpet either. I can’t wait for my lease to end here. Spacious apartments and great location but that’s about all. The management is horrible and they are able to charge high prices for two star apartments because of location. There are tons of newer and more updated communities for the same or lower price that offer better and safer environments for their residents. If you are 20-​something «normal» person — don’t live here.

Our experiences with this community were mixed. Overall I loved the spacious floor plan of the one-​bedroom loft we lived in for about a year. It was more or less quiet.
I have to agree with a fellow reviewer regarding the management issues at this property. My partner and I assumed another tenants lease and while one might expect this to be a seamless transition we encountered a variety of issues. Upon moving in the leasing office gave us a phone number to call in order to set up all of our utilities, gas and electric. While our electric was set up without a problem it took almost 2 months of back and forth confusion to get the gas into our names. The gas company was saying they were not getting the authorization or the information they needed from the apartment complex to transfer the utility. We were charged late fees each month this was not done correctly.
The last straw with the complex was with our move out. Somehow our electric at the unit was not switched out of our name when our lease ended. Georgia Power has charged us for 2 months electricity beyond the end of our lease! The bills for each month were at least $ 100! When I contacted Cambridge at Buckhead they said that our old unit has been vacant since we left. Then why is there $ 100 usage when we turned everything off at move out? I have attempted for over a month now to resolve this issue with Georgia Power and Cambridge at Buckhead (including calling corporate and leaving messages), but now in order to prevent this bill from going to collections I am stuck paying it. The worrisome part of this issue is that Cambridge at Buckhead refuses to accept their legal responsibilities. As a lawyer, and as dictated by common sense, once a lease term ends the tenant has absolutely NO liability or possessory rights of the owned utilities of the building. It is simply outrageous that the corporate management company will so easily escape their responsibility.
With all of this said, Diego is awesome and very kind and a pleasure to deal with. He was lenient with us once when our rent was late.
It’s a great location and parking is included, which was nice. I enjoyed living here but the headaches were unnecessary! A fellow reviewer summed it up nicely by calling their charges «suspiciously vague». The vagueness of charges combined with these weird utility issues that I have never experienced elsewhere causes me to raise an eyebrow!

I loved this community. I think it’s just a little old but it’s clean and very well kept. I was on a second floor unit and I didn’t really hear lots of noise from my neighbors. I liked the fact that they welcome pets and that there are plenty of doggie trash bags everywhere. I noticed the gate is open very often.

We did extensive online research when choosing our new apartment and considered several factors before we even bothered touring a community. We LOVED the original loft-​style layout, as well as it’s location, which is what initially caught our eye.
From the minute we walked in, the office staff was friendly and very helpful. We visited the location three different times and toured multiple units. During this time, we never felt rushed. Staff was knowledgable and more than happy to answer our questions.
We really love our new apartment and have zero regrets. We even had a few special requests regarding our cable hook-​up and a few unit adjustments, and they could not have been more accommodating to help whenever possible. Their maintenance staff is incredibly quick and do things right the first time. There have been no surprises after or during move-​in with unexpected costs, or super high utility bills.
Some other pros: pet friendly with doggy bags around the community and walking distance to Kroger and nightlife. Although this can be subjective, we also have friendly, considerate neighbors, which I think reflects on of the kind of renters they attract. I can’t speak to the amenities like pool/​grill area or gym because we haven’t used them, but will update anything notable.
Cons: Gate entry is a little annoying because you have to purchase an extra control if you don’t want to have to pull into a small bay area to get access through the gate. Exit is the same for everybody though. Washer/​dryer hook-​ups, but not the actual appliances, so you’ll either have to purchase them or rent them from an outside company if you want laundry in your unit.
It sounds like they’ve had some management turn-​over a bit before we moved in, but I can confidently recommend the current management. They haven’t missed a beat and seem settled. Overall, we’re very satisfied and would recommend the community to our friends.
