Tahcha Tea Bar and Cafe

So missed… this place was my lifeline during a bad job situation. Since I hated being in the office and I could do my work from laptop, I would drive the two minutes down the street and do my work in peace. The staff was always pleasant and when I was sick I had their «feel good» tea and I def perked up. After leaving the job I didn’t frequent the area anymore, and when I finally did they were closed. So sad…

A friend and I came to TahCha on a random weekday afternoon on a groupon deal which included all you can drink tea and an array of sandwiches, fruit, and desserts. The area was a big sketch with the Big Lots strip mall and the club next door. From the window seats, the scenery is less than ideal. Once you are inside though, the décor is nice. This place has a laid back vibe, and a real coffee house feel with separate seating areas that range from couches to tables of different sizes. The waitresses know their teas and are super patient about explaining the different types and giving suggestions. The teas are served hot or cold, and there are also a variety of baked goods and snacks from the kitchen.
Our deal started with fresh scones (sweet potato) that were just the right amount of fluffy and not too sweet. Then came the platter of snacks and sandwiches, with explanations of the different types. There were even fresh figs on the plate! The food was plentiful and quite filling. My friend and I didn’t even finish it all, and we were there for a few hours just chatting.
There is free wi-​fi (just ask the waiters for the password) and a private parking lot outside. The location is super convenient right off the 285. In chatting with the waiters I was told they also will work with you to do events (showers etc) on site.
This would be a really cute location to throw a girls get-​together, complete with fasteners.

Went because spousal unit got a Groupon for her birthday. We made a reservation for a just few days before expiration.
It is in a sad-​looking strip mall. I grew up understanding afternoon tea took place at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, B.C., with a dress code. This is like the opposite, with the servers wearing t-​shirts and jeans. But very delicious.
The location may look depressing, but it is really well-​situated right off the 285. Inside it is funky, artsy and comfortable, with a funny mix of cushy chairs, a raised platform with pillows to sit on, and uncomfortable looking wood tables and chairs. Art is all over the walls, and they have a whole retail thing going on with tea paraphernalia. It is, over all, really cute.
They have free WiFi, and if we had really taken advantage of the amount of food you get for tea and the unlimited tea, we could have been there all day. The servers were unhurried and very nice.
The tea selection is great. I had the vanilla black tea, and my companion had the masala chai. Both were really good. The homemade scones came out warm, and are perfect. They are not cake-​y and not too much like muffins (I hate that) but were nice and buttery tasting. The tray of sandwiches, fruit, and sweets was pretty amazing. The M&Ms and wedding mints sprinkled over the sweets were cute, but I skipped them. The sandwiches were really tasty. Our favorites were the mint cucumber and the pimento. The fruit was a nice assortment, and the sweets were good, especially the ginger cookie.
Even though it seems far away, I will certainly go again to hang out. A really great, casual atmosphere with good tea and a great afternoon tea experience.

A gem! One of my favorite places in this city, and not just because I have a serious love for all things tea. I lament the fact that they are not open on Sundays, because I always have a hankering to slow down on Sundays, take a book or my laptop to Tahcha and just soak up some of the coziness that is spilling onto the sidewalk from this place.
Last time I was here, I ordered a veggie sandwich, and it left a bit to be desired. It was sandwich bread, something oaty and whole grainy, all good, but looked like it might be Arnold’s, straight from the supermarket shelf. They slathered on some hummus and a few veggies, but it still wasn’t what I’d hoped for. Next time I’ll go with something else, even if it’s just specifying that I want it in a wrap! My side (again, I didn’t specify) was potato chips, and while they were delicious, they weren’t exactly what I was feeling. I have had mac & cheese, tabouleh, couscous, and other delightful sides in the past, so this was my fault, for sure. The caprese salad is good, and I remember a couple of veggie soups that were tasty too.
I like a pot of tea, believe me you, but sometimes I have a hankering for something else, and on those days, Tahcha knows just what to offer me! A lavendar lemonade is perfect on those hot dripping days in the middle of the Atlanta summer. The bubble tea is fantastic as well – I like to get a black tea base with coconut flavoring. The jelly balls make me giggle, mostly because I get thinking about Planet Unicorn.
The walls are covered in art, there is sometimes music, and I always find plenty of ceramic pieces by co-​owner Charity that I would buy if I had the extra dolla dolla bills.
The bathroom is nice too. I know it’s probably strange to review a bathroom, but it’s nice and roomy, the walls are painted all fancy-​like, it’s never been dirty or stinky, and there’s even a changing table for the mamas out there. Like, a real changing table, not the kind that pulls down out of the wall. Like most other things about this place, the bathroom is homey.

I’m a tea drinker. I prefer it to coffee and usually have a cup every morning. While visiting Atlanta I came across a groupon for afternoon tea for two. How could I pass this up? And thus I was introduced to Tahcha.
My experience started with my reservations, which had to be 24 hours in advance because Tahcha makes the tea platters to order. The next day we made our visit. Afternoon tea consists of fresh baked scones, a platter of sandwiches and desserts, and unlimited pots of tea. The scones, like almost everything else, are made in house and are amazing.
When we arrived it was pretty slow. The one person working there brought us to our reserved table and chatted for a bit. After hearing what kinds of tea we like to drink he brought us some selections from the tea menu that he thought we would enjoy. Service slowed down a bit around 1pm when more people came in and the place got busy but we never felt neglected.
The sandwiches were amazing, especially the salmon and capers. We went to have tea around lunch time and I was quite hungry so I decided to order a sandwich as well and had the salmon and capers with a bowl of tarragon carrot soup. Both were incredibly tasty.
When we finished our tea and decided to leave we got some basil lemonade to go since so many of the Unilocal reviews talked about how good it was. They did not lie. It’s an odd taste at first, similar to a mojito, but it does a great job quenching thirst.
Overall, I definitely recommend paying Tahacha a visit if you’re a tea fan.

My friend and I came for afternoon tea, at $ 10 each courtesy of one of the 38 922 739 sites offering discounts to our lovely city.
When I made reservations, whoever I talked to was so nice. Usually if I’m making a reservation, I’m doing it via the internet and the confirmation call is not so sweet. This was a nice change.
I ended up forgetting the certificate at home and had to turn around and go back, but luckily my friend showed up on time, and it wasn’t a problem to have to wait for me. We had plenty of time to look at the tea menu.
I am a huge fan of flavored teas, and their selection really doesn’t do it for me. This could entirely be me being crazy as I’ve been looking at some crazy teas lately. There was a Georgia peach white tea, so I went with that since I’m cheap and normally don’t buy loose leaf white tea. It was really good. Unlike my tea last time, I had a big teapot all for me, and the tea stayed warm the whole time. I’m not even sure if I finished it all off.
My friend was looking for a sweet, fruity tea, and the guy serving us definitely helped out. They were of course out of the first two teas she wanted, but she ended up getting a strawberry one. It looked so pretty as he poured it into the teacup.
After our teas were brought out, a basket of mini scones and some clotted cream was brought out. The scones were freshly baked just for us. I totally understand why they were praised by some important Baroness.
Right as we were finishing the scones, our platter was brought out. I think they were like 6 different tea sandwiches, and they were all good. The chicken salad was my favorite. There was also cantaloupe slices, gigantic strawberries, and some blueberries.
The top tier held all the sweet stuff: bonbons, strawberry yogurt covered pretzels, mini cupcakes, Earl Grey shortbread, chocolate cherry cookies, raspberry and lemon curd tarts, macaroons, I think that was everything. If you eat your entire share, you will be in glad they reserved a whole couch and two chairs for your party of two.
I’m glad I gave them another shot on the food. I’ve only done afternoon tea twice now, both at the same price point, and I definitely liked it better here.

I had a late lunch today and watched others as they were in the midst of theirs. A table of four was having a full English tea, a family with a small child had a very messy lunch, and three church-​ladies were finishing ice tea and sandwiches. The wait staff as attentive and efficient with everyone in the dining area. My food and service were fine.
Laid back comfort. I will return.

First time here was good. I talked to the owner, who is delightful and easy to talk to. I had the feeling that they were getting their feet wet and had a few wrinkles to iron out because it was very slow service.
Second time, two weeks later, not so good, had to wait a while since they usually have one person doing everything. The food, a chicken salad sandwich, was served on cold bread, and did not taste as good as before.
Third, and probably last time, was today. First, the woman at the counter had an attitude. I have not seen her before. I always tip, but today, that was not the case. I can’t believe she is trusted enough to be the front person of a business. I asked for the chicken salad sandwich again. Arrived bland again and also not on toast as I ordered.
Next, I then ordered a coffee from Mz. Attitude. I asked her what kind of coffee she had today. She gave me a look like I told her the moon was made of cheese. Then, she imparted her wisdom: light roast, dark roast, and decaf.
Hmmmm, you make it seem so delicious.
So I order the dark roast which takes 10 minutes because they do the French press there. Oh, and because of that, it was: 1. One size — frickin giant. and 2. expensive — I paid 3.60 for it.
I know it’s a tea place, but come on, people can get in the mood for a small cup of fast good coffee. What’s more is that her cell phone rang several times with this very loud rap song. This place is supposed to be serene. It definitely is quiet in there. Not from lack of customers, which has always been the case, but because of her yelling into the phone in the lounge area. Wow.
Recommendation to owner: fire the front person with an attitude and offer different sizes of coffee.

Free Wifi! Great atmosphere, great service, I can remember nothing but positive thoughts from my visit. Oh wait, you have to make a reservation for a tea platter combo.
This is a small business tea shop that has grown quite popular, attracting mostly women and young adults, for the tea and mood provided. Sandwiches and cakes are offered, along with tea and bubble tea. It’s a tea shop, so if you don’t want to be disappointed, just get the tea.
Recommend coming here with a friend, because serving sizes of sandwiches and desserts are definitely enough for two people. Sandwiches are slightly pricey but pretty good. Friend got the Turkey Pesto, which came with sweet potato chips (overly salty). Caramel cake had a pleasant sweet taste to it. Green tea bread pudding was ok. I didn’t see any cupcakes from Unilocal pics of the place, but maybe they’ve phased those out.
Prices are justified by the service and experience. Super-​friendly employees, who are willing to tell you whatever you need to know about the tea or menu. I think this place caters to slightly upscale customers — most of the customers were women or mothers with kids, meeting up to chat. Later in the day, people came who used the place to study; I can see this place as an alternative to going to Barnes n Noble or Starbucks to study.
Something that caught my eye when I first came in were these two layered platter of small sandwiches and desserts. There’s some special going on for that and unlimited tea at $ 24 a person. I really wanted one cuz the platter looked really pretty, but you have to make a reservation 24−48hrs in advance =[
I was happy they let us move the tables around so my computer cord wouldn’t be in the aisles. Plenty of places to plug in your laptop for the free wifi — it’s just that the outlets are near the wall; even the long power strip against the bar. Bonus pts for a clean and good-​smelling bathroom. More bonus pts for the fact that I enjoy being there several hours, chilling with my laptop, tea, and various foods.
The quiet mood makes this a perfect place to enjoy snacks and study. Several of the larger tables were reserved for larger parties; I should do that next time and come with a couple friends. Interior is decorated with colorful, abstract art and paintings and trinkets. There’s this mural of a tree with cupcakes, cups of tea, and teapots on the tree — it’s nice to look at. Plenty of parking space in the lot in front; this place is in the same lot as Velvet Room, and is just off the exit on 285E for Chamblee Tucker.
I thought about giving this place 4 stars, but I will up it to 5stars, because I can’t find anything I dislike (maybe the prices, but the service and interior offsets that).

My husband, Zack E, and I have been to TahCha many many times. It’s a great space– casual and relaxing with great art work. I’ve always enjoyed the tea I’ve gotten there. I’m a pretty basic tea drinker so I typically get an earl grey or their custom blend TahChaCha. I’ve also partaken of the food on occasion and am especially fond of the quiches.
But, as great as those experiences have been the what really pushed them to stellar five star status was the event we held at TahCha. I held my son’s first birthday there and it was perfect and amazing — and that was in no small part due to TahCha. Besides supplying the space they provided food, beverages, and the cake.
Planning a 1 year old’s birthday party isn’t easy. Tah and Charity both met with me beforehand to discuss the details. We had about 50 adults and 10 kids. It is difficult, at times, to balance the needs of both the adults and the kids. But, this was the perfect space to do it. The relaxed and casual atmosphere is both kid and adult friendly. They have a small kids area which was perfect for some of the older kids that came to our party. And, the food (tea sandwichs, fruit and veggie platters) received rave reviews from all of our guests. A huge favorite of the our guests was also the basil lemonade. Always a hit and a must try when you go to TahCha. And, the cake was amazing. Charity, one of the co-​owners of TahCha (the Cha if you will :)), made the cake. I told her the theme and sent her the invitation. She made an amazing custom cake that was not only amazingly beautiful but was also delicious.
The service was great — the food was great — my guests couldn’t have been happier. So, what could have been a stressful event for me was perfect and that was in no small part to the owners of TahCha.

I really like Tahcha. I’m not a huge tea drinker, but they are usually able to convince me otherwise. Even when they can’t I love the fact that they french press the coffee. It is worth the wait!
I’m always rushing about so I’ve never got to sit down and just relax in there, but some of seating looks real cozy. I have on occasion gotten their sandwiches which are pretty delicious. It certainly beats making that quick trip to Subways. The staff is always friendly even early mornings which helps matters since I am not pleasant before coffee…

This is my kind of a place.
I love teas and coffees. When I saw gazillion little tins for me to sniff (the teas), I almost squealed out loud. AND the desserts? I did squeal, just in my head. The atmosphere + Wifi. this would be my second home if I lived nearby. But it is almost half point between school and home so that’s good enough.
I’ve tried the bubble tea and the strawberry frosTEA before. I agree with other reviewers; they were disappointing. The bubble tea is ice-​blended with white pearls, and they just add flavored syrup like mango. The strawberry frosTEA tasted just like milkshake with no tea flavor.
But what was I thinking? This is a TEA shop. I should just order tea. So today, I did. with a chai cupcake. I asked if the baked goods were from here, and they are. but I’m kinda suspicious of that. If I remember correctly, there was mochi here before and the staff didn’t know how to pronounce it or knew what it was. Oh well, I guess I can’t blame the staff. Chai cupcake had a very strong flavor, though. I’m gonna go home and bake my own with honey buttercream frosting. And I’m digressing.
I ordered vanilla roobois tea. Mm. unlimited hot tea on a cold day? Yes, please. Oh, and I think they’re setting up for live music. I hope I can focus on studying!

Confirming previous reviews, bubble tea here is strange.
I drove all the way out here (I live in Smyrna) because when I did a search for «bubble tea», this place came up and the ratings looked awesome. So I walk straight up to the counter and the girl didn’t say anything or even look in my direction. To feel less awkward, I meandered over to the cake display for a minute and admired their heaviness before walking back and standing right in front of the cash register… practically on top of it actually. This time the girl actually looked at me but still didn’t say anything. Ok, i don’t care, whatever.
Whenever I try out a new bubble tea place, I like to order the Green Milk Tea with tapioca as a ‘control’ for comparison purposes and then another order that’s slightly more adventurous. so I went with a Mango Milk Tea.
To start, I knew something was going to be funky when I saw her pour a full cup of milk into a blender. If you know milk tea, then you know it’s usually made with creamer, not actual milk… but again, whatever, i’m keeping an open mind. She then put in a few scoops of powder (I assume green tea flavoring), blended it up, and poured it into a 20 oz cup filled 90% with ice and maybe 15 tapioca balls (that’s ¹⁄₃ to ½ of what I’m used to)… The total came out to $ 8.50ish, which is a bit steep, to say the least.
Now on to the taste:
* Green milk tea — tastes exactly like iced milk with a teeeny hint of green tea powder. that’s correct, I did not mention sugar because there was no sugar.
* Mango milk tea — tastes exactly like the green milk tea with a shot of some sort of fruit-​flavored syrup (definitely not mango). This is the better of the two simply because it was sweet… almost too sweet actually, but I didn’t mind it after drinking the plain-​ish unsweetened ice milk.
Besides the obvious weirdness of flavor, these two teas were really disappointing because I finished drinking one before I even made it out of the parking lot. I just spent $ 10 after tip on 2 beverages that contain no more than 6 – 8 oz of actual fluid each. A large bubble tea from anywhere else usually lasts me a good 15 – 20 minutes and costs way less.
So why am I giving it 2 stars instead of 1? Well, it’s because I feel like their cakes and frozen bubble teas could be better, based on the other reviews here, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try again in a few weeks.

Tahcha was disappointing.
Even after reading all the rave reviews it didn’t live up to my expectation. First of all, the place is in an obscure place where Big Lots and oddly located club named Velvet Room.
Upon entering, I ordered a pomegranate-​mango boba tea and my friend ordered Basil Lemonade. You would think the worse drink out of the two would be the Basil Lemonade but it wasn’t. The Pomegranate-​mango boba tea tasted like strawberry quik with boba. I did not taste the mango or pomegranate. The basil lemonade was surprisingly good because it tasted like a virgin lemony mojito. I didn’t think basil would go well with the lemonade.
The tea house could definitely use another barista to make teas. It took a long time for my friend and I to receive our teas.
Other than that the place is alright… not totally impressed.

Tahcha is the tea shop I’ve been hoping to find in Atlanta, a well-​lit joint (hush, you) with a wide variety of custom-​blended teas and a gang of tea-​savvy people behind the counter to make it just right.
Prices are reasonable, there’s a good variety of monstrously-​delicious-​looking cakes and pastries (the Chocolate Decadence Cake may have been so named because it threatened to fall down under its own towering weight), and the seating includes several armchairs-​and-​couch living room sets.
This place is one bed away from being my favorite bed-​and-​breakfast.

Close friends of mine come here often, and now I see why! And it’s close to my house. What could be better?!
The staff is so friendly and informative. Every last tea is available to sniff before you purchase, and having tasted a little of everyone’s choices tonight, I must say they do an excellent job. The pumpkin chai is delicious, by the way, and excellent bubble tea too! I heard the desserts were great, though I was too stuffed to try one… my eyes certainly enjoyed eating them up, though! Even the prices were nice, and honestly I can’t say how awesome the staff is enough.
The shop is big and open, with plenty of tables and a few couches to sit on. I loved the big wall of magnets that you could buy, and there were a few prints from various artists for sale. There’s also two tables full of great coffee/​tea trinkets, from handmade cups to yerba mate cups to tea stirrers. It’s a great little spot!
One of my friends mentioned that there are various group nights here, from knitting to board games to, well, just bring YOUR group here. You won’t be sorry!
So great tea, great staff, great ambiance… what are you waiting for?! Drop the tea snobbery at Teavana and come to Tahcha STAT!

This place is adorable!
I really loved the setup and the atmosphere of the entire teahouse. There are barstool seats with high tables, there’s an area where you can sit on cushions around a low table, a comfy couch area, and a kiddy area with mini furniture! And near the counter there’s even a dining room area where you can find many a student clicking away quietly on their laptops.
I’ve tried a couple of the teas, along with the hazelnut crème brûlée and their madeleines and I’ve liked pretty much everything. I’ll probably try more different items the more I go but I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed. The service is great and everyone there is relaxed and friendly and will chat you up about anything.
I also loved all the party/​group games they had hidden under the coffee table in the couch area. I haven’t played mancala in years!
It was also really sweet of them to bring us samples when we’ve been sitting around a while. The first time it was pink lemonade with mint which was not bad, if a little sour.
The second time we went they offered us a sample of the basil mint lemonade. I had wanted to get it before but had my doubts on how good it could be… it was fantastic! Three of my favorite things, I don’t know why I ever thought they could go wrong!
I’m really excited about going back there and getting a giant cup of it!
I find this to be a somewhat random location (kind of an empty side of Chamblee-​Tucker Rd) but I definitely plan to go here more often and just laze around sipping on some drinks and people-​watching.

Zack E is the man. When he finds a place he loves he is the best evangelist any business could want. I met up with him and his wife Rachel one night to check out his latest love interest, Tahcha.
The owners and staff here are the nicest people. Not sure what tea to try? No worries, you’ll have ample assistance with small «sniffer tins» (my term… what else to call them?) containing the various varieties and blends of tea for you to smell. And if you want a couple of them mixed together for your own personal brew, no worries. Done!
The atmosphere is relaxing and modern with free WiFi. And on top of tea there is a huge selection of sweets, breads, sandwiches, etc. to fit your cravings.
They offered me a chai bon bon in a to-​go bag since I mentioned to Zack that I’d like to try one sometime but was too full from dinner and not in much of a sweets mood. I was crazy not to snarf it up right then and there — that thing was like nirvana wrapped up in chocolate. Delish.

As a red-​blooded American male, I have to say I had a little apprehension walking in here.
Kinda like the first time I went to a wine-​tasting party. At first it seemed really snooty, like everyone was taking it too seriously and looking for pointers on esoteric selections and arcane trivia about say, Alsacian Gewürztraminer.
Then I figured out if you show up late, everybody’s buzzing and relaxed, and all that crap went out the window like 2 hours ago.
Not a tea fanatic, I look at the wall of varieties they’ve got, and I’m like «shit, I don’t know… got any Tetley?»
Fortunately, they have a sense of humor here and guided me into a tasty Masala Chai.
Had a good time just chillin. This place has a nice personality to it, which seems to be developing with time.
The owner was super nice, brought us a sample or two.
Zach calls it a diamond in the rough. I’m not sure if I should take that as an insult, since I live over in this area now. (Of course I’ve personally been called that as well, so wtf… let’s go with it.)
Going to a tea-​house was not nearly the emasculating exercise in dilletant-​ery I had expected…
maybe this could be a new thing for Dan…
P. S. I’m holding back the 5^th star til I try some of the deserts that Zach was raving about. Don’t wanna seem too easy.

Wow — I love discovering hidden gems in sketchy-​looking strip malls. Thanks to Zack E for not only telling me about Mediterranean Bakery but also the newly opened Tah Cha Tea House — both located in the strip mall on Chamblee-​Tucker with Big Lots and Velvet Room.
The inside of Tah Cha Tea House completely surprised me just b/​c the outside of the strip mall is so dated-​looking. Check out the photos. Great place to hang-​out, and they’ve got free WIFI, too!
Today I wanted something cold so I asked the server what I should get. She asked me if I like ice cream, I said sure — she recommended one of their tea milkshakes, the «Jasmine FrostTEA». Yummy! It tasted like a vanilla milkshake with a just a hint of Jasmine — perfect for this hot weather & for satisfying my sweet tooth. They’ve got a range of tea type drinks — loose leaf tea, flowering tea, bubble tea, tea milkshakes, tea latte, etc. They also had a nice display of desserts — most intriguing was the «Chai Tea Mousse» :)
FYI — they’ve only been open for 30 days and they’re having their grand-​opening at the end of this month. Definitely worth checking out!
