Recently found myself in Stein Mart. Sad to say I did not even know they were still in business. So happy I looked on their website for coupons. I was able to show them on my phone and have them scanned to get even more money off their great prices. They have a ton of items on clearance and a mixed selection of basic items.

CRAYDAY! Today was crazy at Stein Mart due to their 12 hour sale. It was busy yet not unorganized or chaotic. I was still able to get in and get out in a reasonable amount of time. Yes, I did have to wait, but it was expected. The store was well staffed and it was easy to get assistance. When you are standing in line for an extended amount of time, you begin to notice things,(like the snacks). I decided to try a min package of shortbread cookies,(5g of sugar), and they were delicious. They will be on my shopping list when I return. Sort of the cherry on top of the pie. Today I purchased a pair of palazzo pants that were not available at the North Point location. I was lucky to find them here because there was only one pair left in my size. Yaaa. Today was a success.

This store is a nicer store than Marrietta’s store.

Yes. I am down with the Mart, as the kids call it. I’m totally making that up, BUTYOUBELIEVEDME! Stein Mart, to me, has previously been just another one of those discount stores like TJ Maxx and Ross. .but it’s like PACKED with stuff whereas, sometimes I think there are a lot of empty spaces at the others. I went just in the last week and they had their Semi Annual Bra and Panties sale(who hates the word panties? YOU! PANTIES!) and I got 5 pairs of panties, and two bras for less than $ 40. That is excellent. In a world where bras can be on average $ 50. and a tiny little bit of fabric that goes on your butt that most people don’t even get to see can cost like $ 15-$ 20. The Mart is like a breath of discounted-but-just-as-good air. I also really like all the décor they have — there are actually some cool, useful,(sometimes funny,) pretty things. My faves are the big huge tin letters and ampersand(&). This is also a good place to find a hostess gift, I think. When I say hostess gift, I mean, something that isn’t necessarily super expensive, but says«I thought about you.» Yes, candles and body wash sometimes count as hostess gifts, but try to avoid those if possible. If you’re going to go with something unoriginal, it might as well be booze. Erm. Which the mart doesn’t have. but for any other. you’re good. PANTIES!

There is something here for everyone: women, men, kids, housewares and gift ideas. Not into the bejeweled look? Move-on to the next rounder — you’ll find something to your liking. I’ve found some wonderful capris, dressy separates, accessories and shoes at this location. And talk about wonderful gift ideas in the housewares area. Okay, I’ve even found some décor items for the house here.

After returning some picture frames at the Michael’s next door, I stopped in on a whim. Stein Mart is one of my mom’s favorite stores, so as I result I rarely set foot inside. However, this time I was very glad I did. Yes, the vast majority of the clothing consists of items like embroidered capri pants and frilly, over-patterned blouses, but I did find several great finds, including a boiled wool Harve Bernard blazer marked down to $ 24 from $ 90, and cute black and white tweed box jacket marked down to $ 40 from $ 120. While their plus size selections are seriously dowdy(even more so than the regular clothes), they carry a lot of their regular line up to a size 16. So, if you’re in that awkward in between like me, you may actually be able to walk away with quite the haul. Also, when it comes time to find my big hat for Steeplechase this spring, I will definitely be back. Their selection of big, floppy women’s hats is unmatched.

Sometimes one single thing is enough to prompt a review. This time, that one thing is the absolutely gorgeous, look-like-SJP’s «mille-feuille» dress of dreaminess in the«Sex and The City» movie pillows. *Le Sigh* The best part, beyond their loveliness? Their prices! Originally under $ 20 each, on sale this weekend for 2⁄3 to ½ that. Check out the Stein Mart fan page on FB for a chance to win one by midnight tonight if you can guess the actual sale price. [Note: This is also a great place for steals on home and gift items — picture frames, cocktail napkins/shakers/etc, hostess-type gifts. .. if you haven’t been, check them out!]

I agree with Lauren S. — my grandmother loves this store. I however, see it more of a place to find mini accessories or slightly cheaper and more mature work clothes. Hey, if I can find a plain non-fitting cotton/poly blend button down shirt for 15 dollars to interview in, I’ll come here. Also, this place is killer cheap when they have their extra 50% off sales(check ads in newspapers). I got 5 pairs of flip flops for a total of $ 20 — great shoes for the pool or to wear in the gym showers. You can also find really cheap accessories here — bright gold sashes to wear with my white sun dresses for Georgia Tech football games, or big wide black belts to wrap around my waist and plastic hoop earings to turn any outfit into the trend. I wouldn’t write this place off completely.
