Spruill Center Gallery

I just recently visited to see what the Holiday Artists Market was all about. I was really impressed by the selection of artisanal goods available for purchase, many made in the holiday spirit (hence the name of the market, right?). Some items are really well-​priced and would make great alternatives from the run-​of-​the-​mill things found in bigbox stores or national chains. Some of the pieces are quite pricey but really do reflect the artists’ talents and the quality of the craftsmanship.
If you like seasonal things like soaps, creams, candles, pottery, and ornaments, you will have a blast roaming throughout the gallery. For those not as much into Christmas-​y things, you will find neat metal sculptures, as well as paintings, photos, accessories, bath salts and other toiletries, and jewelry here to please you.
If it helps, you will turn onto Meadow Lane NE (going towards Cost Plus World Market, DSW, USPS, Ulta, Walmart, Perimeter Bottle Shop, Hobby Lobby, etc.), staying on the right lane. Before reaching any of the entrances to the parking lots for the above mentioned places of business, you will turn right into what looks like a mini forest. Don’t worry though, you will be transported into the magical place known as the parking lot for Spruill Center Gallery. Check out some of the decorations and sculptures outside the gallery before heading in.

I’ve taken classes here several times. The instructors were very pleasant and I’d have to say my favorite class was the landscaping class taught by a licensed landscaper from Stone Mountain.
I do have a couple of gripes. The classrooms were not set up for painting so each week, our class had to set up the tables and easels. This is supposed to be already prepared. Then my second gripe is the problem of NO lighting in the parking lot on the library side. Last time there, I had to use the light on my key ring to light the way to my car parked in total darkness. I felt my safety was an issue so I never took another class there.

This is a great place to find a unique gift or something for yourself without having to drive ITP. It seems like all the cool gift stores are in the Highlands, so this is a special find. Their Artists’ Market carries local handmade jewelry, scarves, soaps, ceramics, and other delightful little trinkets that are surprisingly inexpensive. And a wide variety at that.
If you’re frustrated by the run-​of-​the-​mill offerings of the nearby Perimeter mall and it’s surrounding chain stores as I am, stopping here is definitely worth the time. Supporting local artists rocks!

I like this warm little gallery. Every month and half they have a new show going on with various art being displayed. This months show is called play. most of the art on display is very visual, lots of wire sculptors, etc. I was not a huge fan of the show but apparently they have an emerging artists show next month which I will defintley check out. They do have a room with some of art they they always carry. I bought some really funky little scupltured heads. I will try and post a pic. The gallery itself is in theis old house right on Ashford Dunwoody next to the Walmart shopping cneter. Go, check it out, support local.
