Sears

Terrible terrible experience with this store. I went to buy a replacement part for a washer, which wasn’t in stock, but I bought some replacement washer hoses while I was in the store. When I finally found the necessary part (at Home Depot) they also had the same hoses at several dollars cheaper, so I bought those hoses. The next day, I returned to Sears to return the hoses, receipt in hand. Unfortunately the receipt was not legible on all lines, and I had paid in cash (ca $ 35, not worth using a credit card for small purchase) and it took 45 minutes with a manager before I received a refund in the form of a $ 28.88 credit + a $ 5 gift card. Turns out that the first clerk had overcharged me. When I got home I saw that the $ 5 card was good only for the next week. So I went back that week, bought a pair of pants ($ 37 with tax), and checked out. The clerk told me that the $ 5 card was not activated. Nothing to do but lay the extra out of pocket, and then write this «glowing» review. I will never set foot in this Sears store again. What incompetence from start to finish.

So… I really don’t shop much at Sears anymore. But I saw a pretty good deal on some throws online (and they were so cute and got good reviews) and they have free store pickup. So I went with it. I received instructions on where to find the pick up location, but still got it wrong. HINT: Go to the circle drive. That’s all you gotta know.
Once I walked in the door I was like holy hell. It seems so rundown. I walked into the door by the watch repair, which is now vacant. Please do something with it!!! A store should be welcoming. Overall, I thought the store seemed more bare as compared to other department stores. I was able to find a store employee very quickly and he directed me to the pick up kiosk.
There is a white kiosk where you enter in your info and scan your credit card. Then someone brings out your stuff. It is actually pretty neat. You can even keep track of the progress on a TV screen above the kiosk. Bad placement of the kiosk though — it is right in front of the automatic door so it keeps opening and closing. Also, somewhat bad, the person handing my stuff had really poor nail hygiene. I hate to say that, but it is just kinda gross when someone is directly handing you items. He was nice though and asked if I had everything I ordered.
Overall, I would use the pick in store option again. It was quick and easy. I just don’t see myself browsing around this store.

What a terrible experience. For the third consecutive time, I ordered an appliance from Sears (this time it was a Dishwasher), was promised a delivery date and then got an automated call telling me that my delivery date was going to be delayed due to a «Manufacturer Delay». This time the delay was from December 11^th this week to December 29^th.
The first time this happened with a Range Hood, it caused my contractor to have to come back to finish our kitchen renovation, causing us to have to live with an unfinished kitchen for three weeks. The second time, it happened within 24 hours of the promised delivery date, causing me to have to cancel the plumber and incur a $ 180 cancellation charge. Sears was neither apologetic, nor willing to compensate me. All they did was offer about $ 30 worth of «points», which expired in 30 days.
I have learned my lesson. Sears is a terribly run company that has sleazy policies that are deliberately contemptuous of the customer. Avoid at all costs.

One day in the near future, Sears will be out of business.
I wanted to buy a new washer and dryer, and Sears had the best price on the ones I wanted. I put the washer, dryer and assorted bits and pieces in my online cart and tried to apply for a Sears card to get the special financing. Well, something somewhere went wrong and the credit card application didn’t go through. Knowing I have super amazing credit, I wrote down the prices and model numbers of what I wanted and went into the store.
The young lady who helped me first tried to steer me to another brand of washer and dryer. (This also happened at Lowes. Samsung must give some kind of crazy commission on their appliances because the salespeople push them and the reviews are terrible.) When she looked up the model numbers on what I wanted, the prices were much higher than what I saw online, so we had to go to the
website and verify that I wasn’t making up my own pricing. There was some additional drama that happened, but the purchase was completed and my Sears credit application was approved (gee, imagine that).
As I was driving home, I realized that the young lady didn’t include new washer hoses or a kit to stack the set as part of the order, and I ended up having to get those myself.
That was on ⁵⁄₂₃. My washer and dryer were finally delivered and installed today, ⁶⁄₃. They are shiny and new and fancy. And the water connections are reversed. Hot is cold and cold is hot. Because this is a full sized stacking set in a closet, there is no way on god’s green earth that I can move the set and/​or get behind it to switch the hoses myself. I called Sears to see if the installers could come back out to fix this. After sitting on hold for a long time while the lady on the phone checked with the warehouse, she came back and told me the earliest they can get me on the schedule is Saturday ⁶⁄₇.
I’d like to add at this point that not once did the woman on the phone apologize for the inconvenience of my brand new appliance being hooked up incorrectly or for having to wait four additional days for a fix.
I can’t wait for the inevitable customer satisfaction survey.
Next time I need appliances, I’m going back to Bob Bailey’s.
Update: installers came back out and switched the hoses and leveled the set. They checked to make sure it worked by running a cycle with hot water, then left. When I went to do a load of laundry with cold water, nothing happened. They didn’t turn the cold water valve back on.

Completely inept scheduling. Reps from overseas we’re unable to contact scheduling. Multiple missed commitments were made in one day. No way to contact anyone in authority, after many missed timeframes rep insisted on verifying meaningless ’ irrelevant info before discussing my problem. They don’t need to verify email when I’m calling about a missed apt & they already have my file accessed. Maybe this is the standard of customer service elsewhere, but I insist on better.

We bought our LG fridge and washer& dryer set from this Sears. Scheduled a repair to a previous repair for the washer today. They never showed up and had an incorrect phone number in their system. I rearranged my schedule to be home from work because our kids’ laundry is piling up. Their customer service person could not deviate from their lames script to express any sympathy or apologize. Next washer dryer will be from Amazon. You let us down, Sears.

I have NEVER HAD SUCH LIES AND POOR SERVICE AS I have received from SEARS.
We thought that Sears was a reputable honest company. After all, I know quite a few people who work in their main offices. Clearly, the main offices are the only place where there are intelligent people working.
It only took our sales man, Bruce, about 45 minutes to ring up our purchase on one of those «new-​fangled» contraptions called a cash register. As we were waiting for him to «find» the code for the Serta Beautyrest mattress on the floor, we asked if he needed his glasses. When we asked if the mattress was in stock, he said there was a mattress in stock. Clearly, Bruce was lying…
We were supposed to receive a new mattress last week and the morning of the delivery date, we receive a phone call that the scheduled delivery will not occur that day– and it will be the next day. From one phone call to the next– and we spoke with people from Texas to Georgia, not one had the same story and not one representative was honest with us. After 4 hours of phone calls, it turned out that the Sears stores did not EVEN have the mattress in stock and it would not be delivered until the following week!!!
Now, we are on hold again tonight with the same lines and dishonesty from each of the SEARS customer service representatives– from Texas, back to Georgia– from their stores, to their main offices, to their «warehouses».
I WILL BE POSTING ONLINE AT ALL SITES TO NEVER RECOMMEND SEARS AS A STORE TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED DOLLARS. LIES, IGNORANT SALES PEOPLE, DEPLORABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND A LARGE CORPORATION WHO HAS COMPLETELY LOST TOUCH WITH THEIR CONSUMERS.
As we continue listening to the cheap piped in music on the hold buttons– and still wait for a SEARS customer service representative to help us, I have been able to write this entire posting.

Well if I could give this zero stars I would. The staff is REALLY rude! We came I there looking for a fridge and Betty was really rude. We had a 500 dollar off coupon from our warranty and she wasn’t able to «find» the authorization code for it. She got annoyed and was extremely rude to us — rolling her eyes at my mom. So we went back home and called the warranty info and they assured us that we did have a code and gave us a direct line in case someone in sears «couldn’t» find the code. So we go back to the store and someone else helps us — her name was Ashley who was really sweet and helpful. While Ashley is running our sale, Betty comes over and starts getting upset that we did not give her the sale. And she goes on about how she remembered us and it was not fair that we went to someone else. Ashley, and us get so upset!!! We went to the manager and complained about her. Todd Martin who was the manager was nice and apologetic but we are NOT coming back here!!! Yuck!

Come on Sears! It’s no wonder why you are disappearing!
Sears is the best tool store around so I came to this one trying to find a hard-​to-​find item. I just knew they would have it and at a fair price. Well, that’s not quite what I found.
I was looking for a large socket which they did sell but were out of. The rack where they were was organized poorly as it took me a while to locate where it should have been. The post where the socket WAS had a sticker that stated to ask for assistance. So, I proceed to the counter only to be told, «Oh, we are out of those then.» Say what? Why put a sticker there telling me to go to counter if they are just going to tell me «We are out». Damnit!
Ok, so then I ask the guy if he can look up the standard equivalent for a 36 mm socket. He instead responds, «I can call around to see if any other Sears have it». Um, that’s not what I asked you. Idiot. So, I pull out my smartphone (smarter that that dude) and figure out the conversion. Of course, they are out of that size as well.
Dear Sears,
What happened to you? I used to be able to trust you. I used to receive good service.

I often forget what Sears is now versus what it was when I grew up. I can remember going to Sears during the holidays to look for gifts, with more then appliances and tools.
This Sears is a large store with a few floors of good finds. After the Christmas holiday they had exceptional sales on items in the kitchenware /​appliance sections. Some as high as 25% off. The store was empty, I was maybe one of 6 customers I saw through the store. Being their the day they announced closing some stores I can see why.
Outside of appliances, the clothing they carried were a few brands I found at Target /​Wal-​Mart. Docker /​Hanes undershirts, and no real name brands. Maybe I forget what Sears is or was, and I could be mistaken (hence 3 stars).
My challenge with this store is buying online and being sure it’s in stock. We have all received confirmation emails but the item is not in stock when you arrive. I was finalizing an online sale but wanted to confirm it was in stock as the website said only one was available. Their website showed 2 vendors they sell on their site and then Sears store inventory (Side Note: I can see why they struggle when they sell vendors first, granted it’s most likely just a % commission on all sales). The person I spoke with at the store could not understand the website, and that Sears was on the bottom. She repeated several times that the item was not available at Sears store and especially that location.
I bought online, arrived, had a bit of time locating merchandise pickup. Cool part is online pickup, scan your credit card, name goes on a TV and they bring out your product shortly. Kudos to them for this versus Wal Mart and other stores.

My dad would say Sears is the reason Northlake isn’t a pointless mall. I’d have to agree. They know their tools, have a nice tools department (and any craftsman tool that’s damaged can be swapped out, free of charge).
I went in looking for a small freezer and they had a decent appliance section without pushy salesmen. I’ve purused the jewelry counter a time or to, checked out the exercise section, and hit up the television section… be lying if I said I didn’t buy a pair of jeans or two from here also. I like sears, it offers a lot, and don’t forget the sears auto center right next to the mall.
