I found this little gem located inside of the GSU library one day. I am hooked on their Cinnamon Chai Tea Lattes. Agreed with the majority of the other reviewers– they are definitely slow! I waited 30 mins. once for my hot drink, and was skipped over for those who ordered iced coffees… I am sure there’s no pressure to provide fast service with them knowing they’re going to get business no matter what, being on campus. However, the quality of the drinks and friendliness of the staff is the reason for my 3⁄5 stars. They also have yummy breakfast options. I’ll definitely be back as long as I am a student.

Saxby’s is a café located inside of the Georgia State University library. It carries lunch type foods, snacks, coffees and other drinks. It’s a little over priced for the food quality & size in my opinion, but I had no other options at the time. I ate here on Tuesday around 9pm. I ordered grilled cheese and a cup of veggie soup. The grilled cheese was decent, but the soup tasted like canned soup from the hospital cafeteria after a patient sneezed in it. Since it was like, 8oz, I was finished eating it quickly. Besides the food, the staff member at the register was friendly and it was clean inside. In summary, you’re probably only coming to this place if you’ve been studying in the library for hours and now you’re hungry. I don’t think it’s worth the trouble for a non student to get to Saxby’s, especially with the addition of so many security features at the library…

It takes forever and a day to get anything. Workers are usually taking their sweet time making anything. Not very hygienic either. I saw a girl making drinks wipe her nose then wiped the excess foam off the opening of the lid. So nasty. This is the same girl who took over 10 minutes making 2 drinks at the same time. She was moving like a turtle. Some workers do move as fast as they can but at that point that are just super slammed. But some workers are still moving slow.

I’ve gone to Saxby’s a few times out of pure necessity for caffeine and they manage to wow me every time with just how bad their coffee is. I know that most people order specialty drinks and what not from cafes but they should at least have decent coffee as well, but they don’t. It’s gross. It’s so bad that it’s almost impressive because I can’t understand how a café that has access to the resources they have access to can still manage to ruin it so badly. Maybe they delegate the task to the manager’s 2 year old son who has a habit of peeing in the water tank. Regardless of the reason, if you want a good cup of coffee don’t come here.

Even though it’s a small café. it serves variety of specialty drinks and expressed. It also serves breakfast and lunch. I love their menu and reasonable prices. The Customerservice is the best. The only problem is that they usually have long lines most of the time. Other than that. highly recommend!

This place is located in the GSU library and convenient for students on the go. I had the special vanilla chai tea latte and I am hooked! As for their service, it is very slow and kind of crowded because they are taking more orders than they can handle. Food wise, decent. I got a chocolate chip cookie and it taste like I bite into a hard form of just brown sugar.

I want to start by saying that I like this place, staff is nice but when they’re supposed to open at 7:30am they don’t open until 7:45 or later and when they finally open is just one person working there, awful. One person taking orders, making coffee, and preparing food, which makes the wait time unnecessarily long for everyone.

I’m glad GSU has a coffee shop in the library. The food isn’t outstanding, but none of the GSU campus food options are. It’s about convenience if you’re studying and forgot to bring a snack or need a caffeine boost. There isn’t much seating, but I prefer to grab and go. Sometimes this is a pain, because the service gets really slow around lunch hour. You can expect to wait a half hour for your sandwich. Still, it’s right in the library so I will continue to stop by for the convenience factor.

Convenient location, horrible food. If I’m in the mood for a cup of mediocre coffee while I work in the library, Saxbys hits the spot. Their food however, needs improvement. The sandwiches compare to those from QuikTrip, dry and made off-site. I wouldn’t mind this so much if they were priced like QuikTrip’s but for an $ 8 coffee and sandwich I expect more. The chicken ceasar wrap was ok, but overpriced for what it was… I felt cheated. Their tuna sandwich tastes bland but it is the most bang for your buck considering it weighs more than the other sandwiches(yes, I felt each one before making that purchase… I was hungry). As far as their drinks, I’ve only had their regular coffee and iced chai tea. The coffee is reasonably priced, but is far from special and the chai was tasty — not too sweet. Skip the food, stick with the coffee. Or, ya know… go somewhere else. Jimmy johns does deliver.

I wish I could organize a tentative boycott of this place. Not only is the food mediocre, their service sucks. I waited 30 minutes for a bagel, only to be told that they«lost my ticket». They finally handed me my order without apology. I had settled into my studying when I realized it was a completely wrong order. I guess it was my fault for trusting them. Then, I go back down to tell them and the guy on the line acts as if its my fault, doesn’t apologize at all. I’ve had similar issues with this guy before-I’m sure people who go there know who I’m talking about. He’s always rude and puts minimal effort to the food he makes. They take advantage of their convenient location. The only reason I(used to) go all the time was because I spend long hours in the library. I think its worth the walk to any other place than here. I encourage others to improve their days– skip Saxby’s.

The location is ideal for a coffee shop! It’s located on the first floor of the university library. But, their coffee and other drinks are nothing special. Nothing stands out. The staff is really slow, too.

Slowest service ever. This coffee shop is not equipped for the high volume hours. It seems as though they have more people making sandwiches than making coffee. The coffee is good, but for the amount of time you have to wait… its not worth it.

Went in there and got a Caesar chicken wrap after working all day on a paper. It was basically half rolled with chicken and dressing falling out of all corners. If you actually want students to choose you for a quick snack rather than walk over to Chick-fil-a then maybe you should put just a little bit of effort into the product. A waste of my $ 6.00.

Your coffee is mediocre as at best. However, the fact that a coffee shop runs out of straws is unacceptable! How can you not have straws?! You just opened! That means you didn’t have straws the day before?! Oh yea, I heard you tell the customer before me. «Oh, just use a spoon for your frappé» like it was common sense. No, common sense is having your essentials in line. When it was my turn, you didn’t have the customer service skills to hand me my drink or at least move towards my end of the counter, I had to reach basically over the counter to get my coffee. Ugh! If you weren’t conveniently located in the library, i’m sure you would go out of business. Please change management or do better.

I am disappointed in this establishment. This place is the only restaurant available on campus after 8 pm(unless you want to try McDonald’s and Waffle House). It is located in the Georgia State Library and generally serves the student population of the university. I for one have come to this place when I have had to do assignments and study for tests into the wee hours of the night. There are so many problems with this place, but where to begin? Firstly, it stays open until 11 pm. The last two weeks of the semester are reserved for finals and the library is open until 2 am(unlike the regular 12 am). This means that it is the only place to really eat, unless(like I said) you want to venture out to McDonald’s and Waffle House. I just went to go get something off their breakfast menu today(at around 9 pm), and the cashier tells me that they stop making food at around 8 pm. Their menu says that breakfast is served«all day». Does that sound like«all day» to you? Considering that students are going to be here for a few more hours and will be wanting to have food? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Their food is incredibly overpriced. A large Caramel Macchiato(with tax) is $ 5.10. I could go to the Dunkin Donuts nearby and get a #1 combo(2 donuts and a medium iced coffee) for $ 3.29, with tax. Does that seem unreasonably priced? It is indeed. Like many people have said on here, the way higher prices somehow are inversely related to the mediocre quality of food here. The coffee tastes like dish water, while the espresso clearly was not made correctly and thus comes out very bitter. Did I mention that they will charge you $ 0.75 for a cup of water? If you want good food, great quality coffee, and at a reasonable price: try the Dunkin Donuts instead. For shame, Saxbys.

The location is great. It’s inside of GSU’s library. The hours are okay. Usually closes an hour prior to the library closing. This place is ridiculously packed for breakfast all the way up til brunch time. Busiest days are usually Tuesdays and Thursdays around noonish. So expect to wait half an hour for your drink. On good day the staff is usually friendly but don’t expect too much out of them. They’re usually students. Now onto more pressing matters, the drinks. The coffees are not well made but can be fixed with a little bit of help from their plethora of condiments, which they usually run out of. They frolattes are usually lacking essential properties to be a frappé. Don’t expect it to turn out like starbucks frappucinos. The hot chocolate is pretty good depending on who makes it that day. As for food, the soups are usually decent for the price. The ooey gooey macaroni isn’t so ooey gooey. The tomatoe basil mozzarella panini is pretty good but definitely overpriced. On the bright side though, the coffee crumble cake is usually really good especially warmed up. Overall, this wouldn’t be my first choice for coffee shops. But hey, when you’re desperate, you’re desperate.

You know those old slapstick stories? The ones where some goof sets out to bake a cake, but uses salt instead of sugar? The cake is ruined… and usually there is some kind of party where everyone is feigning delight in aforementioned cake, because the goof meant well, but really they are thinking, «wtf»?. How can you ruin a cranberry scone? I understand that these are not made on the premises, but why is it SALTY? I am tired of feigning. I want a refund. The end.

I’ll give it props because it’s inside the GSU Library, but I wish they would just focus on one area. Are they a coffee shop or a café? Too many options and not enough time spent making a really good product. Lines are usually long and the staff is short. This is understandable, but would it kill you to make eye contact and smile? Me thinks not. I got a soy latte from there once and never again — it tasted like there was just espresso flavoring dumped in soy milk that was barely steamed… not really my idea of a $ 4 pick-me-up. If you’re in a bind and need caffeine, stick with regular coffee or something prepackaged.

If you go to GSU, or you’re just visiting, go to the library and try this place out! Definitely be worth it! I usually always order the same thing, just in different forms, normally since I’m not much of a coffee drinker, and apparently, I’m very picky with my coffee as well. The British Islander is delicious. It is a Saxby’s original. It is a blend of Macadamian Nut, English toffee, and white chocolate. Whether it’s iced, hot, or served as a frolatte, it’s delicious. I have gotten so many of my friends hooked on that drink! I usually always come by once or twice a week during my long gaps from classes, just so I can stay awake during my night classes.
