Let me preface this by saying that I know nothing about skateboards but since someone near and dear to my heart would like a skateboard, I decided to get him one for Christmas. I found out about Ruin Inc just by googling for the nearest skateboard shop near me. Ruin Inc used to be located on Roswell Rd, but now they’re in their newest space in Dunwoody off of Chamblee Dunwoody Rd and Mt Vernon, in the Dunwoody Village shopping center anchored with a Fresh Market. It’s kind of across the parking lot from the post office. I walked right in and directly sought help because after doing some research online, I still didn’t know which components to buy. John was really helpful by explaining the parts to me and showing me the range of products they carry for wheels, trucks, etc. Because there’s no such thing as a skateboard that’s put together to purchase, I ended up customizing a board with John for about $ 170 and it was put-together while I was there in the shop. Not even an online store could beat that, delivery charges or not. So if you’re looking for a place to put together a board or even looking for parts, I’d highly recommend Ruin. The store carries shoes and clothes too. The people who work here are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a local, mom-and-pop store and I’m definitely glad I found them.

Great skateboard shop! Nike SB, Adidas, all of it. More boards and cooler folks than anybody in town

When Ruin first opened, I was there immediately. Growing up in Dunwoody, I always had to convince my parents to drive me to Gwinnett or Midtown for skate parts and accessories. Then I gave mail order a shot, which never was as exciting as I had hoped. Something unsatisfying about waiting two weeks for a new deck. Then came Ruin. Ian is one of the nicest guys in the city and has always been helpful with everything. It’s just wonderful to see their shop grow over the last(almost) 15 years. Best shop in Atlanta.
