Romeo’s New York Pizza

Had the margerita (basil, Roma tomato, garlic) tasted very bland in terms of cheese and crust and hardly any garlic. Service was fine.

I love Romeo’s, it’s great NY style pizza! I try to stop by on Tuesdays for their special. I always get the XL cheese and it’s delicious. Recently went to NYC and Romeo’s was definitely better than the slice I got while I was there.

I’ve had one of the worst experiences earlier today when I walked in to this place and ordered two different pasta; the marinara and the chicken.
Their marinara sauce has no taste but tomato and sugar; I tried to eat the chicken but it was very dry and tasted a little burned.
When it comes to service, after we got our meals nobody talked to us till we finished our meal a guy asked how it was: I said that I didn’t like it so he just smiled and took the plates. When I asked for water they said that I have to by it by bottle coz they have a problem with water and can’t provide it++++

I just had baked spaghetti… delicious and as for their pizza my wife and I always make sure to stop in and pick up a pie when we come down to visit our son at Emory. As a New Yorker of 45 + years, Romeo’s is as close to the kind of pizza I grew up on the very Italian American Westchester County and Brooklyn Pizza! Fresh, great crust! Highly recommend when your just got that «yen for some good ‘za!»

My girlfriend ordered a pizza, salad, drink, and appetizer via GrubHub. It took the restaurant over two hours from the time the order was placed until it arrived. The pizza was cold, they delivered the wrong salad, and by the time it got here we had already decided to cook dinner. Don’t order from this restaurant if you actually plan on eating the food.

For the love of God, I loathe this place. I’ve never gone back, but a few times now I’ve attending different Emory workshops and meetings that used them and they’re consistently 20 – 30 minutes late despite order in advance. It’s really inconvenient for them to be so late all the time, particularly when the customer is so close.
The pizza itself is still okay and nothing more, maybe a 3 (either it’s improved or my standards have dropped).
If you have a few extra dollars, though, go to Slice and Pint. Neither make me swoon, but the food and service are better there.

I really hesitate to write negative reviews, and it’s a shame because I sincerely wanted to like this place.
I ordered the Vegetarian specialty pizza, a cheese pizza and cannoli.
I don’t order pizza often, but boy I used to! I also used to work in the fast-​paced and exciting pizza delivery industry for 1.5 years, so I appreciate the demands on a pizza place. I don’t intend to judge this place too harshly, so here are the goods and the bads:
Good:
1. Delivery — very quick (about 25 minutes, maybe less — but I live pretty close by). The delivery driver was nice!
2. Ordering — the person taking my order was fast and efficient.
3. Price — pretty reasonable. I got a coupon in the mail for a free medium cheese pizza when you buy a XL specialty. That seems like a great value to me.
4. Crust — the outer rim of the crust was awesome. It was nice and crunchy.
Bad:
1. Cheese pizza: lots of oil. Took about 3 paper towel passes to make it edible. Otherwise, the flavor was pretty decent. Honestly, I prefer a Freschetta or Digiorno frozen cheese pizza.
2. Veggie pizza: this did not excite me. What this pizza needs is some fresh element — the flavor is way too heavy. Maybe throw some basil or something on here? I was excited when I saw caramelized onions and eggplant as toppings. The onions were great. The eggplant was okay, but I think it was fried eggplant (didn’t expect that), which added to the overall heavy feeling of the pizza. I couldn’t taste the sun-​dried tomatoes much, and I couldn’t taste the mushrooms at all.
3. Rest of the crust: other than the outer crust, it is way too soggy. The pizza slice doesn’t have enough structural integrity to fold in half because the pointy end keeps flopping toward the ground. It also takes away from the overall texture of the pizza.
4. My gf and I just felt really bloated after eating this.
OK:
1. Cannoli — never had one of these before. I recently finished watching The Sopranos so I figured I would give it a try. I have no comparison for this so I will suspend judgment, but it was a little sweeter in taste and heavier in texture than I expected.
2. Cheese was OK.
3. Sauce was nothing exciting.
TL;DR — I will try the other pizza places in the area first before ordering from here again.

My second time going, first time my pizza was great customer service was a bit dry… Second time the girl at the front counter didn’t even acknowledge that I was standing there waiting on her to take my order… she saw me but kept doing whatever she was doing … Didn’t say I’ll be right with you ma’am or anything else. Finally after about a few minutes she takes my order just as dry as she could be. Ordered my pizza and when I tasted it :/​it was dry just like the service and rubbery. I didn’t even finish my second slice. Money wasted.

Good pizza and the place looks nice.
They have three TV and it is a good option if you are in the area. it is between Chipotles and Yogi Mogli. You can park in the front and in the back there is parking lot for the businesses around.

The pizza is okay. It’s way greasy and the cheese isn’t very salty.
Romeo’s does have plentiful choices when it comes to toppings, as well as other menu items. I really like that they have lunch specials (2 slices and drink, or 1 slice, a drink and a side salad).
It’ll do if you’re on a budget, but I’d put Fellini’s over it

This is a cool little pizza joint beside Emory’s campus. They have great lunch specials that are obviously geared toward the students, it is very clean inside, you can see straight into the kitchen (which I always like) and they have several tv’s to watch sports. Unfortunately the pizza I had was lacking a little in taste, but I only had a slice of sausage pizza so to be fair I will come back to try something else.

The crust of the pizza is very good, ingredients are tasty however they could put a little more of each one. Prices are fair and employees are nice

The pizza… Meh, I’ve had much better. Too greasy, even for NY style pizza. Both times I’ve eaten there it’s been nothing to write home about, no unique flavor and not especially nice cheese experience. Nothing stands out about it. Not bad, but not great either.
The management practices– yikes! Don’t park over there because the manager just might have his little booting pawn, Frederick of Alpha Booting Company, slap a $ 75 boot on your car EVEN if you’re parked legally and can prove you were visiting the approved establishments on the parking signs. Larry either needs to get his eyesight checked or tell his little minion that they must remove boots when patrons produce proof!
For 45 minutes my husband, myself, and our 2 year old followed the booter with proof of our legal parking (our receipt), asking that he remove the boot… He refused to look at our receipt, demanding $ 75 in cash. This has been happening for 3 years and Larry continues to approve of Frederick (see the CBS news clips). We didn’t back down and had the Dekalb police help us get the boot removed without paying the fraudulent fine. When confronted, Romeo Pizza’s store manager wavered saying he wasn’t sure he had seen us cross the street, that he had only seen my husband walk behind the car. Hmmmm… People visit their trunks!
Larry: I understand that you don’t want people taking advantage of the parking spaces. I get that. But if we can prove the legality of our parking, it’s a no brainer what the right thing to do is. Alpha has a BBB rating of F and he’s made the news more than once. Help your managing partners replace this knucklehead scam artist with someone more fair and honest. Geez Louise!
In sum, you can definitely find better pizza elsewhere, and one thing is for certain– you can find better, less risky parking. Do your self a favor and go to Avellino’s in Decatur instead.
I’ll be happy to modify this review when Alpha Booting Company gets the boot from Emory Village or when Larry can own up to it when he’s gotten it wrong (which he did not!).

Gene, Gene, Gene! You’ve edited or added onto your comment yet again. No, honey, there’s no «Gotcha» here. I’ve eaten at Romeo’s twice, and I won’t be back. My review never said I ate at Romeo’s on the same day Larry called his booting dog on us. I ate there before that– but it was Larry’s refusal to back down that made me decide to report on my dining AND parking woes here on Unilocal. We parked in front of Romeo’s and walked in and ate at Chipotle, and Larry had Frederick boot us, saying that he saw my husband «walk behind the car.» The whole ordeal was completely ridiculous– ridiculous that we were booted when we NEVER left the premises, ridiculous that Larry wouldn’t stand down or apologize, ridiculous that your establishment continues to support Frederick even though he has a BBB grade of F and continues to make headlines for shady unfair booting, AND ridiculous that you keep commenting here and sending me messages. Instead of insults and attempted «Got chas» why don’t you show all of the potential customers who visit Unilocal that you are a courteous professional who wants to ensure a lovely dining AND parking experience? I think that would be better for you.
And by the way– thanks for posting the link to the news story. It shows everyone just how AWFUL the guy is that YOUR restaurant supports. Keep searching the web and you’ll find the clip of either you or one of Romeo’s managers giving your support to Frederick on camera in a different news story.

I rated it 2 instead of 3 because this place went from a fantastic italian restaurant to a simple pizza place. The owner unfortunately past away a few years ago and his children decided to take the store in a new direction. The pizza is fine, but I don’t think it is anything special. I have been to New York a lot and I also don’t think its really «New York Style» pizza. However, I believe they were born a raised in New York for what thats worth.

I was looking for something quick and casual while we waited for our appointment at Emory. I was delighted to find a parking spot right in the front of the restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeting right away and there wasn’t a line. I ordered the lunch special (a slice of cheese pizza, a Caesar side salad, and a drink) and a slice of cheese for my son. I asked to have it cut for a child and they happily agreed that they could accommodate that request.
I got our drinks and sat down, and within seconds my salad came out. It was really delicious. The lettuce was fresh and it looked really tasty. I was pleased at how flavorful the dressing was and how there was just the right amount of dressing on the salad. Well done on that!
Our pizza slices came out about ten minutes later and they looked perfect. They were hot, so my son had to wait a few minutes to eat his slice, but he really enjoyed it. The sauce wasn’t too robust and I really liked how pleasant it was. And let me just complement them on the size of the slice! It was a nice sized slice of pizza! One piece was plenty for me!
Overall, I was really surprised at how great my lunch experience was here. I noticed that they have a location in Johns Creek and one in Alpharetta. I’ll have to see where and check them out with my husband!

It is hard to come by a good pizza place in Atlanta. My husband and I started off with fried ravioli — point on, although i couldn’t figure out what it was stuffed with — some type of cheese or creamy red sauce and chicken? It was super tasty whatever it was and comes with a sauce that was a ranch chipotle aioli?
My pizza (toppings included spinach, sun-​dried tomatoes and chicken) was okay. The crust was cooked perfectly, didn’t have much flavor. There was too much tomato sauce and it had too much of a strong tomato flavor that overpowered any other flavor. It could def use more cheese. The cannoli was delicious!

This pizza is just OK, and the largest size available is only enough for 2 guys.

Service — meh.
Magharita Pizza: Fantastic.
The fried ravioli is good too.
Prices are good. Especially the lunch special.
Clean and attractive interior, but casual.
Been there three times now, in the past couple of weeks. Definitely working this into our regular rotation.

«Oops» she said as she dropped one of the 6 quarter sizes fried ravioli I ordered for my dinner on the table. Overlooking her lack apology or professional concern that she screwed up, this left me with 5 mini ravioli… essentially costing over $ 1 PER subpar, greasy, flavorless morsel.
There are already three other pizza places in Emory Village… all of whom are going to get my business as long as this pathetic restaurant has service like this. Don’t waste your time.

Not a bad addition to the neighborhood. We walked in for lunch about 15 minutes after opening and it all seemed to going smoothly. You order at the counter, get a number and wait for your order at your table, like most other places in the village. The space is nice– dark interior with wooden tables and high tops. The chalkboard menu behind the counter listed some appetizers (fried ravioli, wings, mozzarella sticks), Salads (Caesar, House, and their specialty– with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and dried fruit), and of course pizzas. Pizzas are sold by the slice (2.95 for a cheese, 5 for a specialty) or whole pie (about 15 – 18 for a large). I ordered a slice of cheese and enjoyed it. The thin crust is crispy and provides enough structure, the cheese is gooey but not overwhelming (I’m talking to you, everybody’s) so that the tomato sauce can still shine through. The slice isn’t very large and most people will need two. Good thing they have a lunch special– $ 6 gets you 2 slices of cheese + drink or 1 slice+small salad+drink. Seems like they will be serving beers, though my guess is they don’t yet have a license (judging by the fact the word beer was on the menu but no price or selection was included).
Certainly the best pizza in Emory Village.
