Description

Specialties

The Wine Program at Restaurant Eugene reflects our desire to seek out and provide the very finest products available and to serve them graciously. Our restaurant is a small, family-owned business in which each detail is personally attended to by our owners. Generally, we seek wines that offer similar characteristics: small production and strict attention to quality. Our intense, in-house wine training program insures that our front-of-the-house staff can make knowledgable and appropropriate wine recommendations.

One thing that we really want the community and our guests to know is that we are here for the long term. We love people, and it is our foremost priority to ensure that our guests are well cared for and embraced with southern hospitality. We look forward to seeing you!

History

Established in 2004.

Restaurant Eugene is named after my grandfather, Eugene Holeman. He grew up on a farm outside of Memphis. Eugene was a chemist by trade and later became president of the Tennessee Food & Drug Administration. When I was a boy, he took me on trips throughout the state to inspect farms. Many were small family-run operations; others were much larger. My grandfather taught me early on that food comes from someone — a person. On these visits I always marveled at his way with people and his gift for storytelling. At home, he loved his garden and cooked everything. His peach ice cream in the summertime is one of my fondest memories. I learned from him that cooking goes hand-in-hand with bringing the food to the table. This combination of cooking and graciousness shapes our vision at Restaurant Eugene.
