Prometric

Nobody LIKES taking formal exams, but when we have to do it, we want to do it in a comfortable, non-​distracting environment.
Prometric attempts to provide this, but just due to the nature of the required environment, it just falls a bit short.
I’ll break it on down for ya:
OFFICE LOCATION:
–Not too far from central Atlanta
–plenty of parking (AND IT’S FREEEEE)
–Confusing as all heck to find the the office first time around (MAKE SURE you read their directions online before trying to find your way around the office park.)
–Close to restrooms and a water fountain
TESTING ENVIRONMENT:
–No windows (whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is debatable)
–Comfortable chairs
–Old computers, but simple and decently quick
–awful overhead lighting
–comfortable temperature (but that A/​C is loud when it kicks on)
–They offer both headphones and noise-​cancelling construction earmuff, essentially
CHECK-​IN AND RECETION:
–They have free lockers
–The check-​in process is relatively painless (MINUS the painfully slow software they seem to have to use)
–The software they use is painfully slow
–The people are nice and put you at ease before what could be a super-​stressful 4 – 6 hours
While I would prefer a mostly daylight space that is warmer rather than cooler, and be able to have a bottle of water with me, I understand that these conditions are not everybody’s cup of tea, nor are they allowed for very valid reasons. Oh well.
TIP: Bring a sweater!

This is the worst prometric testing center I have been too, and I’ve taken quite a few standardized tests. The short: take your test elsewhere.
I took step 1 of the medical boards at this location. It’s an 8 hour exam so it’s super important to have a good testing center.
First of all, it seems like half of the staff was new. They were not familiar with the basic rules (i.e. whether or not jackets or watches are allowed). They were not efficient with the check in/​check out procedure during test breaks, which wasted precious break time. The headphone set on the first computer I was assigned did not work. The keyboards are cheap, and on both keyboards I used the props were broken so they were lopsided and shaky. They are also very noisy.
At least, the chairs were very comfortable. This location assigns washable whiteboard paper stuff instead of scratch paper, which I was not used to but seems cool.
The worst part was the noise. Despite the noise canceling headphones, the noisy chatter by the prometric staff was inescapable. Made it very difficult to concentrate. Another problem is the smoke. There is a smoking area directly under the testing center in an adjacent delivery area. The smoke comes right up into the window and infiltrates the cubicles near the end. As if the tests aren’t hard enough without these problems.
The best thing about this center is the location. Located right off of 285, not too much traffic going outwards of Atlanta in the morning. Makes predicted arrival time more reliable. It’s a little more tricky to find the testing center in the office park if you don’t know where to look. As soon as you enter the premises, make the first left and park in the first lot on the right. Prometric is near the main entrance. However, I would rather drive a little further and have peace of mind than take another test here.

I scheduled an exam almost 2 weeks in advance for an upcoming Saturday 12:30pm time slot. When I arrived onsite at 12:00pm, the staff politely informed me that they were closing in an hour and that I would not be able to sit for the exam. I was handed a card and told to contact prometric.
I find it completely ridiculous that I wasn’t informed in advance that there had been some kind of mixup and they were closing early. For scheduled exams, these sites have all the contact info and it would have taken less than 5 minutes to call/​email to give me a heads up.
F-that…I’ll be scheduling future exams at another location.

I’ve been to a couple of testing centers and this location is excellent. Convenient location, free parking, friendly and responsible staff. It looks small from outside though.
Not a big fan of Prometrics — outdated computers, uncomfortable chairs, and who likes taking exams? But this is my go-​to place if I have to take another computer-​based test.

People are very friendly and accommodating for a testing center. I have taken tests here before and will continue to use this testing site.

Turn left before building 5909 and park in the back — there’s a dedicated entrance to Prometric right before the main doors in the back.
Matt is right — the staff here is great. Much friendlier than the Cobb location. Busiest in the morning for the first appointment, so get there before your scheduled time to wait less.

This is the location for where I’m taking my CPA exams. I’ve heard from other colleagues that other locations have rude staff, but everyone here is great. Very nice and polite staff. The first time I came, I had trouble finding the room because there is no list of companies in the building and no one was at the front desk so FYI its on the main floor, walk around and you’ll see a sign on the door.
