Post Parkside

I wish I were able to give negative stars. I moved out of Post in March. Paying to get out of my lease was money well spent. Life’s been too hectic to write a review until now but the horrible experience is still fresh on my mind and I feel better late than never to help others avoid a bad experience. Several incidents in 5 months outlined below.
Keep in mind I am a real estate agent myself as well as a landlord (rented this apartment because of an abrupt move for work)
1) I was given a tour of the first floor apartment and was told the security system came included with ALL first floor apartments. I was led to believe the system would be activated and working upon my moving in. The system did not work and I had to get an alarm company to come out who would charge me a normal package fee to activate. Said the system was also outdated and needed to be replaced
2) the gate for the parking garage completely closed on my car. Gate opened, arm went up, half way through the steel gate closed on my car puncturing a hole in my tire and significantly damaging my door. This stuff happens and I understand but they treated me as if this was my fault (impossible), made me wait for camera footage to be reviewed, finally said IF they were to pay they would need 3 estimates. Being new to town and not knowing a soul, and starting a new job this was overwhelming. I requested their insurance company info so I could deal with them directly and was denied. This might be policy but no one seemed seemed apologetic to my situation. I was treated as though I was trying to scam someone. My car was older and I never went through to process to get reimbursed bc the hoops didn’t seem worth it and I guess this is what they were hoping for.
3) there was an issue where Post took back control of my GA power account 1 month after I moved in and I had to repay. GA Power activation fees. This was not due to lack of payment. I had only been there a month and sent all documentation proving I had paid. GA power confirmed it was Post who transferred the utilities out of my name. I am assuming it was a clerical error but Post didn’t apologize or agree to pay the new activation fee. I didn’t argue much bc it was only $ 30+\- so again, not worth it
4) not posts fault but I had 0 cell service in my apartment.
5) I put in the lease for my rental home I can access the property anytime and this is typical and used in case of an emergency (like a flooding water leak). Because I do this too, I wasn’t overly concerned seeing it in Posts lease. Common courtesy you still give notice before coming into someone’s «home» even if they rent. I came home to a crew painting my ceiling bc of a leak that had accrued upstairs the week prior. I wasn’t given notice and wish I would have at least had time to pick up dirty underwear. I felt as though my privacy was invaded.
Hopefully I just had a weird chain of bad experienced this isn’t the norm but I needed to share. I’m not normally a complainer. You should be able to see this is the first Unilocal review I’ve ever made so that should say something.

Post Parkside has an extremely friendly staff and the location cannot be beat in Midtown. I lived there for a year and loved it. I was very sad to go. The first floor (where I lived) has beautiful dark stained concrete floors and exposed brick walls. The prices are higher for Atlanta but with Piedmont Park as your backyard (literally) it is worth every penny.

I visited post parkside today since I’m relocating to Atlanta for work. The negative reviews about this place are absolutely confirming my decision NOT to live here. I’m moving from out-​of-​state and called about 3 weeks ago to set up an appointment. I wanted to see as many buildings as possible on my first short trip down here.
When I arrived, I was told they «don’t do appointments on Saturdays» and was rudely dismissed. The woman who I believe is the manager (Jo? She had short brown hair) then instructed me to go around the corner, get a coffee and come back when they were less busy. I told her I was happy to wait, but that I did have an appointment and could pull up the email confirmation on my phone. She swung her arms up in the air and said, «Well! I don’t know what you want me to do for you. You can see how busy we are! This is why we don’t do appointments on Saturdays!» Then, she walked two other people outside for their tour.
I was so shocked at this exchange and her dismissive and rude attitude. Plus, it wasn’t even that busy! The manager was about to begin her own tour with a young couple, and during our exchange, and one guy came in to pick up a package. He then left in less than 2 minutes. Another staff member was able to promptly give me a tour — she was younger with reddish hair and was actually quite friendly. I showed her the email confirmation and she said, «oh I’m sorry, we must have just missed that note, the person who made your reservation is out.»
I get that office snafus happen, but the manager woman’s tone with me was harsh and inappropriate. Why would I ever want to rent from a place that has unhelpful staff and clearly, massive security issues? I hope someone from the corporate office is reading this and makes some massive changes.

I just moved out and agree with the other postings. Yes, the location is great. I lived over the fountain, which was very pleasant, but everyone let their dogs pee and poop around the fountain. (Not sure why dog owners can’t clean up… but that’s another posting).
Yes, there were multiple break-​ins and no increase in security. I’m a student and I’m home during the day — so thankfully, my apt wasn’t one of them.
Yes, upstairs neighbors are terribly loud. I found out I wasn’t the first to complain about them, but the neighbor didn’t really care. And they had a baby the summer I moved in — so I was up 24 hours a day.
I was paying $ 2100 for a two bed. Rent renewal was $ 2300 and they rented it for $ 1850 to someone new.
Hopefully corporate will read this. The office staff and maintenance were always very friendly and did what they were told by corporate.

People who are looking for a home deserve to know what they will be getting here. For some 2+ years, although residents have just really been made aware of it… basically our apartments are being burglarized midweek, in broad daylight, by the criminals using some sort of battering ram to bash in the deadbolt, shattering the frame and then kicking it in to make entry. Post Parkside management has done/​is doing nothing to address the issue. The latest round of break ins occurred April 13^th, when 4 units were hit. One of the units belonged to my good friend, neighbor and hall mate. Here is how this frightening situation was handled by management…
The resident received ONE phone call at 3:30pm that day from the assistant manager, stating (direct quote): «Hi T.B., this is the Post Parkside office and I wanted to discuss something about your apartment. Could you give me a call when you have a chance? Thanks and have a great day!» The tone of the voicemail was very upbeat and chipper, giving no cause for alarm. There was no further attempt by her or ANYONE from Post Management/​Security to seek contact with T.B. to advise him that his apartment door had been kicked in. This although the office is open until 6pm and office staff can reach out via Post Portal email or for that matter his personal email. Not even so much as a note on his battered door!
As it turned out he texted me from the airport saying he had a message from the office when he landed which was odd as he had no pending maintenance requests… knowing we had had the burglaries I walked to his door to see a metal plate ‘resecuring’ the deadbolt where it had been knocked in, so I had to pass him the news. He called our afterhours emergency number on the way from the airport, THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT ANY BREAK INS. Post Parkside management & security had all happily went home that day knowing they had a resident who would return to a ransacked and burglarized apartment without a second care or concern in his behalf, just one ‘carefree voice message’ and no follow up. In short they took no responsibility what so ever for making contact.
An hour later after hearing nothing in return, he called the afterhours back to be told that she had reached the ‘security officer’ and he had said ‘there was nothing he could do, the resident just needed to call 911′. He did not even extended the courtesy of a return call. We called the police, who arrived about an hour later to advise that HE HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE EARLIER AND PROCESSED THE CRIME SCENE. A fact that Post Management and the Security knew. There had been no need to call the police, all they needed from T.B. was a list of the items missing and any serial numbers he might have, and he could pass that info along anytime he was ready with it!
After much complaint they have let him out of his lease after first trying to do a ‘patch job’ on the interior door frame (literally spackle he has photos!). But they have refuse to return rent for the ½ month he could not live in his apartment.
Post management continues to ignore the need to increase security. Specifically to install cameras in our hallways (yes UNBELIEVABLY in the middle of a city like Atlanta with our doors repeatedly being kicked in in broad daylight we have NONE).
Instead of accepting responsibility that we have a major and very specific security issue we get the same old, tired story… it is the residents fault. Apparently it is Post Parkside’s policy that RESIDENTS MANAGE OTHER RESIDENTS, in making sure they do not allow strangers through the gate or movers (who come and go without any set appointment or oversight through management) to prop the security gates open.
There are so many high quality, well managed, amenity rich apartments in midtown Atlanta near the park within the same price range, my advice is keep safe and happy, look elsewhere.

Prior to July 11, 2014, I would’ve rated this property a 4.5. However, on July 11^th two apartment units were broken into on the third floor of the building, using force to break down the door.
After the incident, Post has refused to change any of it’s security or security protocols. Apparently, they can continue to raise rents in excess of 10% annually, but cannot invest in simple security solutions.
When asking the property to take further action to make the building more secure they respond as if it was my problem that my apartment was broken into in the first place. «Why don’t you buy a security system… Break-​ins just happen.» I’ve heard similar stories from other residents who have had their cars broken into — «not our problem,» is the standard reply.
I’m curious how Post quantifies security per resident. If refusal to add additional security measures is a barometer, it must be less than $ 10/​resident, because camera solutions and policy changes are not that expensive on a per person basis.
Great location, but security is at risk with a company that is uninterested in it’s tenants’ well being.

I might revise this after I’ve moved in, but be forwarned, when they say «prices subject to change» at any time, they mean it. Between the time I started talking to their office about a listed apartment and the time I received the lease, they jacked it up $ 15. A minor amount, but a sleazy practice. A crappy start to my Atlanta move…

Post Parkside. Well, like lots of others, I moved in sight-​unseen due to travel/​time constrictions. Turns out I was lucky, at least in one thing; my studio fronted 11^th Street, far from the noise of 10^th. However…
Noise. You will hear your upstairs neighbor walking. Always.
Size. There are all kinds of units but the reality is that the rents are extremely high. My studio was just plain tiny. Kitchen appliances are crappy. And you get one rather small closet.
Parking. I don’t drive so this wasn’t an issue. Until I asked about what I assumed would be a complimentary pass, for visiting friends. Oh, no. That would cost several hundred. WTF?
The gym. It’s the size of the studio closet.
All in all, the Parkside isn’t…horrible. But to pay nearly a grand a month, even in midtown, for a miniscule place that’s awfully noisy, is absurd. Heed my advice; take the time to find something else. Once I moved in, I saw many nicer, bigger, cheaper places practically next door, down Myrtle Street.
PS You will pay DEARLY if you want to get out before your lease is up. I got away with only a $ 400 extra charge because I was moving to another Post property.
