Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore specializes in books and gifts celebrating the human spirit. We have a wide selection of products to delight your senses and soothe your soul. Our book categories include spirituality, holistic health, metaphysics and personal growth. You will find an array of incense, aromatherapy oils, candles, meditation music, crystals, gemstone jewelry, altar statuary, feng shui cures and meditation tools. We have a talented staff of metaphysical practitioners including psychics, mediums, hypnotherapists, astrologers and palmists available for appointments daily. Our staff along with visiting authors provide classes and workshops in metaphysics, holistic health and spirituality.

History

Established in 1987.

As Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore approaches it’s 25th year serving the metaphysical community in Atlanta and beyond it has indeed become an oasis of serenity in a hectic world.

Started in a small house in Sandy Springs, the store moved to it’s current 5,500 sq ft location in 1995 expanding to meet a wide variety of customers spiritual and metaphysical needs. Psychic Practitioners are available daily along with a robust schedule of classes, book signings and workshops on meditation, spirituality, metaphysics, holistic health and personal growth which complement our selection of books on these topics.

Our product offering has expanded from books to include crystals and gemstones, sparkling silver gemstone jewelry, incense, aromatherapy oils, and candles. You can find altar statuary and tools across spiritual traditions from Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism to Earth Religions including Native American and Wiccan. There is also music and tools for your meditative practices

Candace’s vision of Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore came from 10 years of work in community mental health and a belief in the power of positive thoughts and energy to create one’s reality. Her dream was to create a space of soothing healing energy where all would be welcome to explore their spiritual path, holistic health, creative expression, personal growth and transformation. With no experience in retail, including running a cash register, Candace took this leap of faith to create her dream of an oasis of serenity and nexus of learning. Her love since childhood of the beauty and energy of crystals is reflected in the magnificent collection of crystals.

Love this place!!! I especially wanted to compliment a reader there. His name is Erin Finn and I have come to him on several occasions. The way he uses his gift is wonderful! He truly gives you more than an average reading. You’re given more than information, he helps you. He is thorough and honest. He gives you clarity and resolution to any issues at hand. He digs deep and truly helps you resolve anything you may doing to stand in your own way spiritually. Such a sweet spirit. He gives so much of himself during these sessions. This store is so wonderful! If you are allergic to cats you may want to take an allergy pill cause it is worth going to this gem of a place. Wish I still lived a few miles from them, however I do make the trek regardless. Stones, Books, CDs, Readings, Healing, toys, gifts, sage, artwork, clothing, jewelry, bath salts, incense… just to name a few things can all be found here. Quite the selection too! Event my 8 year old enjoys coming to this store. She always finds something to be interested in.

Cats. They have cats. Lots of cats. Roaming free and feeling happy cats. I feel like I should warn anyone that may have cat allergies before they visit the store. You will leave out of there a hot sneezing mess like I did.
Lots is stuff in here! I wish the book selection was a bit larger but they do have a good selection of more well known metaphysical/​spiritual authors.
They also he a great selection of candles, jewelry, minerals and herbs, and clothing. Yay!
Their prices vary. I did find a few books cheaper on Amazon (gasp!) if you’re willing to wait the few days and bypass instant gratification. I even found a beautiful peacock notebook. There is was $ 22 but I found a replica at Barnes and Noble for $ 4.99 on clearance. Just want to set proper expectations about their pricing.
The staff is cool. I went during dragon con weekend right before closing and they were… ummm…ready to go. I have been there since then and they were more relaxed and chill.
I say if you’re looking for sage, jewelry, clothing and knick knacks this is the place to go! Just make sure you aren’t allergic to cats

My plan was to visit two different metaphysical stores today. The first was the Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore.
The Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore is not just a bookstore. they sell candles, herbs, stones, incense, and more. Staff was friendly and very helpful. There is no pressure to buy and they let you shop at your own speed. The space is roomy, there is also a patio where you can sit and relax. Also throughout the store there are areas where you can sit and read.
There are four resident cats, three indoor and one outdoor. All lively, fat, and people friendly.
Like an idiot I decided to curtail my shopping to under $ 200 and give the second place a chance — I shouldn’t have. When I checked out the young lady with the blue-​green hair signed me up for their shoppers program. She must have known I was hooked. Even my daughter found some things that she liked.
I will definitely be back!

I love this place! You can totally loose track of time while here. There is so much to see & discover. They have 2 cats that roam freely throughout the store. They’re friendly & won’t bother you. Everything from dream catchers to gemstones and so much more! The tranquil ambiance will set your mind at ease.

What a fantastic place! I’ve been going to metaphysical and New Age stores for over a decade. Simply speaking, most are too small and extremely overpriced. P&D is neither of those! Whether you’re looking for books, crystals, runes, tarot sets, clothing, incense, essential oils, Craft supplies, Buddhist zafus, bumper stickers, statues, witch balls… this place has it all! It’s well organized and the energy is just incredible. All of the staff were kind and helpful. The resident cats were a real treat, as well.
I had a reading with Don Simmons on a whim and it was wonderful. I felt truly comfortable with him, like I’d known him for years. He is the real deal. I’ve had a number of readings over the years, some more fruitful than others. Some readers were outright fake, and some were just good at warm reading and responding to facial expressions. Not Don. He was acutely in tune with me, my past, and my future. He didn’t mince words, which I greatly appreciated. He gave me fantastic advice and I am very pleased with the outcome of our meeting. I will definitely be back to see him.
Long story short, this is the place. It has everything you need when it comes to supplies and religion. Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Wicca, Goddess-​based religion, Shamanism, Atheism… there’s something for everyone here. I’m so glad I found this gem. You will be too :)

This place is amazing!!! The store just makes you feel relaxed and calm the moment you step in. I was mesmerized by all the crystals, books, charms, etc. They offer meditation classes amongst other things and have so much to offer. Prices are very reasonable. I cannot wait to revisit this store again.

Oh dear! Where do I start?!? It’s first of all so filled with beautiful things! I want it all. You’re not harassed by sales people and they let you Rome freely but are friendly and available when you need them. So much helpful information. Crystals and stores galore. Beautiful jewelry and a wide selection of oils and books. The eclectic clothing line is also amazing!!! Recommend !

There’s something to be said about a place that just «feels» right and the Phoenix & Dragon definitely does. A friend told me about this bookstore and with my curiosity piqued I figured I’d check it out one day after work. Hidden on Roswell Rd. in Sandy Springs, you wouldn’t have guessed that this unassuming store had so much to offer inside. I’m not quite knowledgeable in holistic or spiritual healing but they had a lot to offer– from crystals to incense, it’s all here! I knew a little bit about crystals and spent about $ 20 on that alone. It is a bit pricey but I figured if I’m driving this far out I may as well make it worth my while. Had no problems with the staff, they all seemed really nice and knowledgeable.
In a different visit I actually got a reading done with Susan Rushing. She was absolutely amazing! It felt like she knew me from birth! The whole experience left me with a greater understanding of myself and I definitely felt more confident at the end of the session.

Unique store. The last of its kind really. It’s been around for decades. Very knowledgeable staff members who are very open minded and friendly. I love coming here for Chakra stone and candles. I have bought a few Buddhist novels to help me in my journey. A friend showed me this store and I love it! !! I just am sad it’s an hour away. But it’s definitely worth the travel

First time ever going to a new age shop. I enjoyed the experience. The parking lot is to itself with plenty of parking space. I met different staff members like Jane and Christie and they were both super awesome and helped me fine different things. They have many different rooms with items to choose from. The crystals and gems they have oh my gerd O_​O it is amazing sauce! The herb selection was limited and they were out of a lot but it was still nice and they ordered the herbs with no extra charge.

I can appreciate this place because it is a think out the box type of place Soul searching, reach beyond the physical type of place. Tarot cards, stones, candles, oils for money and luck and books on health and cards with your personality traits based on the day of your birth. The place is huge as when you walk in there are tons on displays with all different items.
They have some house cats that are really friendly and when I was there a gentleman giving chair massages. That’s worth a visit right there. Or you can just pick up a namaste sticker to encourage yourself to get to yoga. It’s a cool spot, especially in Sandy Springs. I want them to serve tea to make the experience complete.

The energy in this store is really cool and immense. They had a lot of what I was looking for — crystals, reiki candles and other products, including sweetgrass and sage — at really good prices.
I spoke with several people in the store, including Tanya, and I loved the interaction. Made a small purchase — $ 20 roughly — but I cannot wait for their products to be available online because I would love to order directly.

This was suggested to me by a friend as I was looking for a metaphysical shop. I loved it but took off a star because the sign is so very easy to miss.
The store is comfortable from the moment you walk in, and so much larger than I expected. ThoughI was interested in one of the cameos in a locked case, no mater how much I tried to catch the attention of the dark haired woman behind the case, cutting price tags, She was too focused.
I did end up getting exactly what I came looking for and a few more items as well. I even got to see two beautiful felines lounging in random rays of sun. Ahhh Kitties.

Compliments to the store by friends, creaky floors that make me tiptoe, incense, and free roaming kitties make for a flavorful store, a memorable store. My most recent visit brought me in to find mala beads.
After looking over what they had displayed I was met with disappointment in the range of bead types, and they were a bit out of my budget. Some of the beads I swore I had seen and purchased at a Michael’s in the past, leading me to believe these are local creations. They were all wonderfully crafted and would explain the price, but they weren’t what I was inclined to. Disheartened and about to call it, I stumbled upon a really lovely set hiding in the singing bowl display. I’m very happy to have found them. This isn’t the first time I’ve found hidden items out of place or in different display areas. I guess, if you’re looking for something specific, be sure to explore the whole store.
The store is comprised of several sections with each a commanding spirituality. The only section I’m not too interested in is the kitschy part at the front of the store, but it’s amusing nevertheless. Their collection of gemstones is impressive. Two walls line the second half the store with all sorts of polished to unpolished gems. Necklace bags and wire holders are nearby to inspire you to keep them close to heart.
If you’re looking for gems, yoga related items, incense, pendulums, or anything of the like then it’s worth the look in. They also have a lovely porch area, though I’m unsure if it’s used for classes.
I did find them mildly overpriced in some avenues. This is a niche store where a lot of these items are very inaccessible sans the internet. I’d think of it as a convenience charge albeit most of it is very reasonable. :)

This place was suggested by a friend of mine and even though it was a bit of a drive from out hotel in downtown, I’m so glad we came!
I love how their is a different section for a differently worldly beliefs and spiritualities. We spent at least 30 minutes browsing, and that was going quickly since we knew they were closing soon. It’s a lot to take in! It’s packed with items, but yet organized and flows easily through the store. They have a plethora of figurines, statues, shelves upon shelves of books, clothing, an entire wall of stones and gems, herbs, oils, incense, candles, etc. They offer psychic services including tarot card readings, astrology, mediumship, and even pet readings. Oh, and the kitties! There are three cats running around inside and one outside. I had fun teasing and playing with one of them by making it chase a light bouncing off a gem.
The staff was friendly and signed us up at the register for their monthly newsletter and told us about their rewards program.
If you have an open mind and/​or discovering yourself, this place is awesome! I only take off a star because they were a bit pricy on some items.

Great place to come. Love getting herbs and figurines (Egyptian) from here. They have religious figures from East to Western civilizations. So any things to choose from books, candles, incense, clothes, cards, jewerly. Love, love this store! FYI they do have cats that are house cats, they are friendly but if you have that allergy be aware.

Personally I love this store and make occasional visits looking for reading materials, stones, Chinese coins, sage, feathers and oils. Beautiful «evil eyes» can be purchased as well as incense, candles and salts «to keep the nasties out of your house.»
Looking for something special wonderful cards and calendars are around the corner or maybe a piece of jewelry all kinds can be found small to large and plenty of price ranges, be sure to check the regular sales on these items. Love the ceramic light fixtures with Angels and the wind chimes I would like to listen to each and everyone but stop myself from running my hands through to many before given *that face*.
All kinds of readings can be given, classes to partake in & even a courtyard if you’re looking to relax or meditate.
If you have questions this is the place to come they will have the answers or will know how to find them.
Time flies when you come in here and I always feel cleaner when I leave.
* The older cats have passed away and they now have three new kittens with very different personalities running the store and they are fun to watch.
