Very friendly and lively environment. Fast service from attentive and nice waitresses. We all had pasta, which was above average — fresh and hot. Lots of kids and a rather noisy place.

We have been going to this neighborhood gem for years and it’s always excellent. For the price, Osteria serves up the best pasta in the city and their pizza is very good too.

4 of us split 3 pizzas and it was more than enough. Loved the pesto pizza! Very cool place with a great selection of Italian food, brunch from 10−3pm on the weekends, and a solid playlist.

Just ordered Chicken Pesto Linguini to go. It was spaghetti in a red sauce ! Isn’t pesto green? The description says Basil Pesto, but Hannah at Osteria said it isn’t basil pesto. Then why does the description on the menu say it is ??? We actually took if back b/​c I thought I got the wrong thing, but they said this was correct. It was terrible. Description also said it had pine nuts — so I figured that’s why I had to pay $ 13 for it. NO PINE NUTS — not one in my pasta !! Horrible experience — we won’t be back.

I got the oatmeal pancakes with Nutella and bananas and they were soggy and the banana were brown. I couldn’t finish the food and paid way more than it was worth. I gave 2 stars because everyone else’s food looked alright.

I took my girlfriend on a date here last night, and the food was very good. My waiter was extremely helpful and not overbearing. There was a very short wait time for food, my appetizer was bought out almost immediately (calamari). I ordered the tuscan chicken fettuccine, it was delicious (my girlfriend said this is what she will get when we return). My girlfriend got the chicken parmigiana, and even though I am not a huge fan of the tomato based sauce and chicken combination, this dish was surprisingly satisfying. In my opinion the pricing was fair for the quality of food you are getting. The great thing about this restaurant is that it can be for a family outing or a cozy intimate diner with a significant other. The only draw back from this restaurant is that we chose to change our seating from the outside patio to the inside dining room because of an odor outside, cant blame the restaurant, it is located on a pretty busy street in Atlanta.

We were craving Italian and found this little gem on Unilocal.It’s a little laid back Italian spot… not the best Italian we’ve had but definitely good if you’re craving pasta at a reasonable price. Our dinner total including appetizers, wine, entrée and dessert was only $ 45! We ordered their mussels as an appetizer and it was delicious. The eggplant Parmesan was also pretty good. The boscaiola was a little salty and we had to send it back but nonetheless we would definitely come back for its easy Italian atmosphere and service. Our waiter Keith was amazing even changed the tv at the bar to the Cubs game upon our request.

The menu is fantastic, simple, and affordable. They have great options from pasta to pizzas to traditional Italian entrees. The brunch is great too, and the front patio is lovely. We’ve been coming here for years, and it’s been consistently good every time.

Ok. Based on the pictures and reviews o thought this place was a good choice. Haven’t gotten the food yet, but recently found out that the order was not submitted based on a system cliché– ok. Couple just walks in and gets food within 5 mins… Uhmmm fix it! Some things are just difficult to digest. As I loom around j see people smiling and fires glowing to bake pizza– and my table is empty and cold–
Alas. The Marsala shows up… Before the appetizer. Such a different experience … But optimistically speaking… the manager stepped in and reinvented my experience to a time when I wanted to revisit… So I left and made a right at the place in the corner… See next review

Went for pickup for my wife. She just loved the Spaghetti Pomodor. It was hot and ready when I went to pick it up.

We came in after looking at reviews and landed on this place as it’s kid-​friendly.
Monday night. 7:30pm. 20min wait. WORTH IT.
It was packed. And super loud.
We ordered the bruschetta and an arugula corn salad for appetizers. Both were fantastic. The bruschetta was inhaled in less than thirty seconds.
The kids both got the Mac n’ cheese, which they loved. Both of us agreed it was fantastic. Even our super-​picky toddler went silent as he ate it.
We both ordered the Gorgonzola pasta dish with chicken added. It was absolute heaven. The portions were good, and the chicken was moist and tender.
We also ordered some of the chocolate ganache tart for dessert, which was super rich, but excellent. The four of us couldn’t finish two small pieces.
Our waiter was friendly, but service did take a bit with how busy it was, hence the minus one star. But it was so, so very worth it.
We’ll be coming here again next time we’re in town.

I’ve been here multiple times over the years and it’s always pretty good. Nothing here really blows me away and the service can be pretty slow though.
The pizza’s good and they do have a large outdoor seating area. Also lots of street parking (beware of resident parking hours though!)

My best friend loves this place, and now I can understand why. Their Italian is divine, certainly not the best I’ve had, but it is pretty good when you are craving pasta.
Our waitress was wonderful and helpful, especially since she warned me that the sangria was really sweet (thank you btw). Decided against it and went with sparkling water instead. We ordered the bread basket, caesar salad and arugula salad. While I cannot speak for the caesar salad, my friend seemed to enjoy it. The arugula salad was nice and lemony, how I like it! Bread basket was ok, nothing special. If you love bread with olive oil, get it. But if you’d rather shove your face with salad and pasta, SKIP IT.
Anyone that knows me knows I am a mushroom fanatic, so I could not pass down the chicken marsala. I’m so glad I got it, because it was delicious. My friend got the chicken parmesan, and it was super yum. Everything you want in chicken parmesan. Pastas were cooked al dente, which is such an overlooked thing with so many restaurants these days, it was nice to have it be exactly so.
Overall it was a pleasant dining experience and I will definitely return when I need my pasta fix.

There pizza is good. It isn’t Amazza or another famous soot, but for the neighborhood, it is very goo. It has a thin crust. They also have great pasta dishes. You can’t go wrong here, but it isn’t spectacular. I still eat here regularly though because it’s going to be tasty.

The staff were very friendly but I don’t think the food will bring me back. Great salad & bread (it was odd we had to pay for a bread basket at an Italian restaurant) but all 3 entrees with pomodoro sauce were too salty to enjoy, and the meatballs were all breading and no meat. If you’ve got kids there’s a reason to visit otherwise, I’d choose another Italian restaurant.

With me you get five stars if I can’t think of anything negative about my experience, and save for the one fruit fly in my face towards the end of my meal on the shaded brick patio, my first osteria experience was flawless! The staff are, as the kids put it, chill but not to the point of apathetic. Emma was just bubbly enough and great to chat with. Her recommendation of the «bosciola» (sic) with the peas and pancetta was spot on: light cream and cute little shell pasta reminiscent of velveeta but nothing like that bright orange garbage. That along with a fresh and fragrant bruschetta all ordered and served within 30 minutes made for a perfect light dinner in between engagements. Will have to come back for alcoholic drinks and pizza with a friend.

Osteria is okay. The prices are rather high (which I understand for the area), but the food is just average. I’m a value person and if I can go next door and have a better meal for less, I will. Unless, of course, next door has too long of a wait for my timeframe. That is what happened last time.
I had a small (4 – 5) group of friends joining up for lunch and we really wanted to go to Roadhouse Grill, but the wait was too long for our collective schedule. We ended up here, and the service was mediocre. The food was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. In particular, we asked to taste the mac and cheese — because we had a connoisseur of mac and cheese among us — and it was «so-​so» they said. I will give great compliments to the staff for accommodating the request to taste it first.
The long-​and-​short of it is that if you have some money to waste, and you are specifically craving Italian food, and you cannot get to another location (such as Alfredo’s on Cheshire Bridge, which is super authentic or Nino’s on Cheshire bridge, which is more modern) then it’s an okay choice.
If, however, you have the flexibility then I would recommend finding another place for Italian or visiting one of the other restaurants nearby.

As the only Italian restaurant in the Highlands, Osteria 832 makes food and drinks that will make you say, «Yes, this is Italian food.» When I walked in off the street, it was clear from the décor, ambiance and olfactory tapestry that the ingredients and seasonings here were characteristic of food borne in the 5^th most populous country in the Eurozone.
The menu features words like: spaghetti, linguini, fettucini, pizza. Words that belong almost exclusively to the vocabulary of the world’s oldest Latinate language. The wine, like the sauce, comes in your choice of red or white. With each bite (in my case, of the smoked prosciutto pizza), the picture becomes clearer: this was food was descended from the same kings who wore the Iron Crown of Lombardy.
The pizza itself was evocative of Roman decadence, aged balsamic splashed over a wafer thin crust with sheets of prosciutto; it was small enough to be eaten in one sitting without being filling. While I can’t say that the $ 13 menu item filled me up, there is no question that it was representative of the lifestyle and culture of the world’s papal nucleus: Italy (or, «lo Stivale»).
The cocktails are all very exotic and intriguing but taste like the creations of a dorm room mixologist’s weekend leftovers. Alas, only a fool order cocktails at an osteria; a friend of mine ordered the wine and lived so it must be okay.
Summary: If you are Italian and like to eat, this place will speak to the depths of your cultural soul. If you are a person who like Italian food, you can also get that here.

Osteria 832 is a casual Italian restaurant in Virginia-​Highland known for its fun and active patio, one of the best in VaHi. Osteria is an Italian word for a casual restaurant with a simple menu. Trattoria and ristorante refer to more formal restaurants. 832 is the restaurant’s street number on Highland Ave.
I visited for Sunday brunch and had a pleasant experience. Yes, this place has a brunch menu — an Italian brunch menu. The weather was beautiful, so of course everyone chose to sit on the patio. There were still several customers seated indoors, but the inside felt empty compared to the outside.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is casual and laid back. It sort of reminds me of a Fellini’s or La Fonda, but nicer. The inside has a bar and a mixture of booth and table seating. The patio is enclosed and decorated with trees and other plants for a bit of privacy from the street. The string lighting hanging from above is a nice touch. The place sort of has a bit of old school Italian charm to it.
The brunch menu has both brunch/​breakfast type foods as well as traditional Italian pizzas and pastas. I sampled a bit of both. Examples of brunch items include eggs in various forms (omelets, eggs Benedict), shrimp and grits, French toast, and breakfast pizza. Italian items include bruschetta, caprese salad, different types of spaghetti, and thin-​crust pizzas. Expect to spend roughly $ 8 – 12 for most entrees.
The brunch item I tried was the Highland Benedict ($ 9). This entrée consisted of fried eggs, chicken sausage patties, and sausage gravy served over polenta cakes. The egg dishes come with a choice of fries or locally grown, stone-​ground Parmigiano grits. I usually never turn down an option of grits and they were great. They were flavorful and succulent. An excellent bowl of grits. I didn’t expect to find one at an Italian restaurant.
Two chicken sausage patties were tucked in between a top layer of fried eggs and a bottom layer of polenta cakes. The stack was drenched in a creamy and savory sausage gravy with a bit of shredded Parmesan cheese on top. The dish was tasty and I savored every bite of the chicken sausage. The polenta cakes were soft and delicate, almost melting in my mouth.
I tried one of the classic pasta dishes — Spaghetti & Meatballs ($ 10). This is an intrinsically simple dish with spaghetti noodles, meatballs, and a pomodoro (basic tomato) sauce, yet it can vary widely from restaurant to restaurant. I was surprised with Osteria 832’s version because it was unexpectedly amazing. The meatballs were the best part. Four meatballs were served in the bowl and they were absolutely delicious. They were tender and packed with flavor. They seemed to be freshly made. The noodles were appetizing and the tomato sauce wasn’t overpowering.
Service was good. Despite a busy day, our plates came out quite fast. Our server was mostly efficient.
Free street parking is available along any of the nearby residential neighborhood side streets.

Walking around VaHi on a Saturday morning, this was one of the few places open for brunch, so my boyfriend and I decided to go in since he loves Italian food. We jokingly talked about breakfast pizza and behold, Osteria 832 had one. The breakfast pizza was pretty good: a chewy crust, various toppings including red onion, egg, potatoes. This might’ve been the only thing we both enjoyed.
We also had the Highland Benedict which is a poached egg on top of chicken sausage and polenta cakes while all topped with sawmill gravy. I also had a side of the grits. There was a bit too much gravy, so for those gravy-​conscious like me, I’d ask to have it on the side. I think the only thing I enjoyed from this was the chicken sausage. The polenta cakes looked like they were made from the grits, so there wasn’t anything too special about the cakes — probably should have ordered the potatoes. The portion is huge that I couldn’t finish it.
The restaurant space is comfortable and not too crowded. I’d be curious to try out the pizza here on my next visit since i enjoyed the breakfast pizza. Again, it’s a bit out of the way for me to make a trip to VaHi but it’s nice to come out here once in a while to see the changes on North Highland Ave.
