Nail Ink

I went here yesterday due to seeing a deal on Dealfind and didnt purchase the deal. I went to their website and got their Summer Special and scheduled my appointment. I did get a call confirming my appointment. Yesterday when I arrived I was advised by the owner that they were currently going through renovations, which was fine for me. The chair that I was placed in did have a massager on it and I was informed that the plastic liners are thrown away after each use so there will not be any chance of a client getting a toe fungus. Which is something my cousin got from a nail shop more than twice.
I will be going back and received great service from the owner.

I was extremely disappointed by Nail Ink. First when I saw the $ 15 groupon I went to the website, which seemed very impressing. I was expecting some place fun with a cool ambiance. I was completely mistaken. The «salon» is tiny and dark with absolutely no over head lighting, only a few lamps scattered around. I called for a Saturday morning appointment and made it clear when scheduling that I needed to come in first thing due to my full day ahead. My appointment was scheduled for 10:15 a.m. I arrived at 10:10 to find only one nail tech who was already working on someone else. She told me to have a seat and someone would be with me shortly (I didn’t see how that was possible, as there was no one else in there). I sat there until 10:45 a.m. and just as I was gathering my things to walk out (I wish I would have) a girl comes running in looking as though she just rolled out of bed and quickly puts me in a pedicure chair (which doesn’t work) and runs to bring in the water. I picked my color which I thought was a soft coral but due to the terrible lighting, when I walked out noticed it was bright orange! The girl complained the entire time she was doing my so called pedicure, about how busy they were due to «this stupid deal» I felt very awkward trying to make it better, by saying, Well, it’s good for the business. She did not seem to like my input so I shut up. When It came time for my manicure I was completely grossed out!!! The hand towel was dirty and dusty with someone else’s nail shavings, the girl just picked it up and shook it out! REALLY?! I still tipped, because I always do, however I will NEVER go back.

Don’t go!!! The nail tech was not licensed nor experienced. When I got home in better lighting I was able to see how badly she polished my nails, the polish is uneven & thick in some places. I’m happy I only bought one groupon for $ 15. Because I will never go back!!!

I would never go back to Nail Ink again. I’m writing this review because I truly disliked the service and I feel that if they pay attention to what are in these reviews, maybe they can improve their business.
* First of all, the establishment needs a thorough cleaning. Carpets are very dirty. The place is cluttered and filthy. If you have a very small establishment, you should try your best to make sure it’s not cluttered.
* Please start using the most current/​modern equipment. To remove nail polish, use a cotton swab, not paper towel. Very unprofessional.
* The foot spa doesn’t even vibrate or massage your feet or anything like that. They put a plastic disposable type bowl inside the wooden foot equipment with hot water. That’s it. Please get more modern equipment. Even most nail shops (whether it’s in the hood or in a nice area) still have the most updated equipment. It’s ridiculous that you’re making money and not even investing in the things that will help you make more money.
* Don’t use the same dirty hand towel on all your customers. There are cheap hand towels that you can buy. Respect your customers a little more than that.
* The nail technician needs more training (and I think she may have been the manager! Go figure!) She filed my feet and nails and did a terrible job. She barely even filed them. Didn’t do my cuticles or anything. She was nice at first, but then she kept telling me to relax my fingers and hands when she was doing my so called «manicure». She started acting like it was bothering her that I didn’t relax them like she wanted. Who does that? I’ve gotten my nails done hundreds of times. I’ve never been told that I need to relax my fingers and hands. She went so far as to say (supposedly joking) that I must have control issues. Who does that? If my fingers are right in front of your face where you can reach them, you should be able to do your job if you know what you’re doing.
The over all experience was terrible. And I made the mistake of buying 2 of them. I won’t use the other one. I’ll just have to suck up that gas money.

I wish I had seen the previous reviews, because I would have went to my normal spot. I made an appointment online (2 days out) as instructed when I purchased the mani/​pedi $ 15 deal on Groupon. I’m looking at the website I was very impressed, but when I tried to call to reschedule and could not get an answer or a call back before my appointment. I went in on the day of my appointment and was totally disappointed. DON’T BE FOOLED!
The ambiance of the website is not what I was presented with upon arrival. The room (size an office) was very clustered. There were old food containers and drink bottles from the window sill to the nail station. I couldn’t see any further because there was not any lighting fixtures in the ceiling only lamps on the tale and the front window. There were 3 nail stations and 3 pedicure chairs crammed in this space and it was hot. I was not acknowledged so I introduced myself, explained why I was there, what services I wanted, and that I tried to call to reschedule the appointment for a later time. There were 2 customers being serviced (1 getting a pedicure and 1 getting nails) and 3 employees. The one employee that was sitting at a nail station said she couldn’t help me I could wait for the «other lady». The other two didn’t say anything. The «other lady» came in and I explained again she was very nice and said she would take care of me. She was very nice and personable. I think she was the owner, not 100% though.
She started the pedicure and had to fill a bucket to bring the water from a back sink and pour into the pedicure chair. I did like that they use disposable liners, but there were not enough tools and she asked the guy for the cuticle tools he was using on the other client. I made sure she disinfected them but only 1 set of tools, REALLY? I’m used to have enough water to cover at least my ankles maybe even some of my lower leg. She used 1 bucket and it couldn’t have been full because my feet weren’t even covered by the water. There was no scrubbing of my heels or feet, no mention of a razor or callus remover (and I know I needed it). The polish job I received was horrible. It didn’t even meet the sides or my cuticle. She noticed me inspected and put on another coat, but it didn’t help. At the end, my feet looked and felt like I had a 2 – 3 week old polish/​pedicure. At this point I was hot (my top was stuck to my back) and just over it. She started my manicure and quickly said oh you don’t even need a manicure, would you like me to polish them for you. I declined and was ready to go. I did tip her because she was very friendly, but the service was not what I’m used to. I will stick with my normal location. I would not recommend them to anyone, even if it was a good deal. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

I really wanted to give this place a good review but just could not. I made an appointment for 4:15 and arrived about 20 minutes late because I could not find the salon. So when I got in my tech (Alisha) was on her laptop, which didn’t bother me because I was late. Now, what did bother me is that she had nothing set up. She had to get the station ready. If I am late, then I expect that everything will already be ready and we can get started when I arrive because I was the only customer in there. So she explained to me that she had not been there very long and didn’t know where everything is. So I picked out a polish color and waited. What I observed was a lot of clutter trying to hide behind the stations and an empty popcorn bag on the sofa (really??)
When we got set up things went pretty smoothly. I liked that they have disposable liners for the foot tubs. I was very pleased with the mani/​pedi that I received. They only had one nail dryer and instead of making one station a drying area, the dryer has to be moved around. This makes 0 sense. Set up a drying station and have me move.
After we were done, I pulled out my debit card. Then I am told that their credit card machine needs to be replaced. So I am like WTF didn’t someone tell me that on the phone so I could bring cash. I mean, I made the appointment the same day.
So the owner tells me that SunTrust is a short walk. Very true but I use Bank of America and was not about to get a fee because their shit was broken. So I had to run to a meeting and told them that I would return with the cash AFTER my meeting. So the owner proceeds to tell me that they need my information ‘in case we never see you again’. I gave her a buisness card and went to my meeting. While in my 1.5 hr meeting, I get an email AND a text message asking me when I am coming back in to pay. WHAT THE HELL! I took the cash minus a tip. I always tip but this was straight BS!
I think if they had better customer service the place would be worth another try.
