Matthew’s Tree Service Inc

Deceptive, didn’t finish the job and left without telling me about property damages inflicted.
Matthew came out to estimate removing 3 of 4 permitted dead trees. His estimate came out the same $ but included 8 hours of labor as well as removal of 3 trees. His line was that if they finished the 3 within the 8 hours, he would include work on the 4^th as well. Ha! His crew didn’t even finish the first 3 during those 8 hours! During that time, I did get to hear all about the large TV trailers he’s buying to rent at tailgating renting plus other purchases — my guess is Matthew’s low on capital and current customers are paying for that poor judgment.
He left me a tall, thick stem of an infested tree, the one most likely to fall on a structure. He said he would remove the rest of the trees on his proposal FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE for another call out of many $s (ca-​ching!). No precise numbers or promises, of course, just gimme more…
Also found afterwards that the crew had damaged multiple bits of property. Didn’t have the courage or honesty to tell me.
Of course, I’m leaving feedback with the BBB and other review sites plus thoroughly discussing his work with friends & neighbors, but that doesn’t save me the hassle that his extortion sales technique has left!
Rotten, corrupt and just all around a bad person.

These guys did some work for me on a commercial property and pointed out that the city would do some of the work I asked for at no charge in which Really surprised me that they were so Honest, I didn’t have to even call the city they done it for me and told me they would come back out and Bid whatever the city of Marietta wouldn’t cover, The next week the Owner came back out and reinspected and advised what else he would do and I agreed, he properly filed for necessary permit in which I had no idea that such was even required for some small trees and rather large shrubs, I started to do some of it myself but Now that I have been educated by Matthew I would have made a Big mistake and I could have been seriously Fined, after Matthew’s Tree Service finished the work I proceeded to write them a check and they were in the back of my parking lot removing the debree left behind by another tree company that was hired by the city and they didn’t even charge me, Amazing charcter by Mr. Matthew, I truly feel they were there to do a good job and obviously not there just for the money, I couldn’t understand why they did so much extra cleaning, blowing off my parking lot and removing debree from areas in which they didn’t even work so I politely asked Mr. Matthew why his Crew have gone So much above and Beyond and he Replied I am not putting my name on Uncompleted work and when we leave we want you to be Happy or else it defeats the purpose of our Services, I was Very Glad to Know that business Ethics like this are being Practiced when it seems others are just in it for the Quick money, I sincerely extend my gratitude to This company, They have saved me More time and money than I could possibly know, Thank You Guys So Much

Unprofessional and rude
We had a tree fall on our house earlier in the year & I called Matthew’s Tree Service because of the good reviews on Kudzu. I wish I hadn’t. The whole process was a fiasco & there is not enough room to write the whole story, I’ve put some examples below:
–Arrived 2 – 3 hours later than what I was told
–Crew argued loudly amongst themselves, made us uncomfortable
–Rolled logs from tree down landscaped retaining wall. Cracked & chipped bricks and ruined plants
–A «mason» came to fix wall, did not replace chipped bricks and mortar slopped on top of wall
–Matthew yelled and hung up on me when I asked to have the wall redone. I was also told the chipped bricks were already there and the vegetation was going to grow over the wall anyway (it doesn’t, we keep it trimmed)
–Exorbitant pricing
–Called me «hun» throughout process
–Office people were rude
–Had to call several times to get a call back and got rushed off the phone or hung up on more than once.
–And last, but certainly not least, Matthew said he didn’t care if I died from cancer.
I assure you that everything above is true and I suggest you stay as far away from Matthew’s Tree Service as possible.

Bizarre & Creepy Experience!
Met with 4 tree service companies today… Each gave me specific time they’d arrive and all were on time (or close), except Mathew’s. Initially annoying that they were the only ones that gave me a huge window for their eta… b/​w 930 – 12 they said (like a cable company)… Then they show up at 12:20. I wasn’t going to hold it against them, and didn’t really care that much, as I just finished up an appointment at 12… But the guy who walked up on my lawn gave off such an attitude… Denied he was late at all, never even attempted a false apology… and when we shook hands he had this really creepy delayed release… Gave me the willies’ ;-)
After that, he surprised me more by started to try to up-​sell me on testing all my trees for an extra «couple hundred bucks», but couldn’t give me a reason why. Got the feeling he was arrogantly trying to assert his superior ‘tree knowledge’ in order to position his price — even though I had just told him that he was the 3^rd company I’d met with this morning. Was a bizarre experience and I couldn’t wait for him to leave.
Lots of tree companies in Atlanta… I decided to go with Sharper Edge Tree Services. Price was right, very professional, and a positive experience.
