I just picked up my salad from here and am currently devouring it, so what better time than to write a review? I discovered Leaves & Loaves a few months ago and have been here several times to get my lunch. The first time around, I ordered at the store front. There was quite a line, so I know this place is popular. I got the chicken and goat cheese crêpe, which as others have described, is more a massive burrito the size of a small baby. It came with your choice of Sun Chips, potato chips or an apple. The second time around, I discovered they have online ordering. Genius! You can avoid the lines by ordering and paying ahead of time! I selected their Apple Walnut salad. The beauty of this place is you can not only create your own salad(you start with the basic salad and add whatever toppings), but you can customize any of their other specialty salads. To me, this is more worth it. You can basically sub out EVERYTHING and make it virtually unrecognizable. Some of the substitutions are extra, usually because they are premium toppings that are more pricey, but most of them are free of charge. I was so pleased and excited about this I proceeded to order the Apple Walnut salad a couple more times that week, each time subbing out different things. I am currently noshing on their Signature Salad, and I made the following substitutions: Blackened Chicken instead of Roast Chicken Golden Raisins instead of Dried Cranberries Fat-Free Honey Dijon instead of Red Wine Vinaigrette Everything else — mango, toasted almonds, goat cheese, baby field greens — remained the same. Delicious. I am pretty sure their dressings are homemade, too. I can actually taste real HONEY in my honey dijon dressing! Imagine that. Ingredients are always super fresh and the salad portions are enormous too. I have not run into the nasty girl cashier personally, but then again, I have been picking up my order with the food prep guys, who are always super friendly. Give this place a try for lunch if you can!

What a cute place to grab a healthy bite to eat ! Staying at the W and right outside the doors on the second floor is the plaza with tons of little shops. Trying to be healthy and being at a work convention is very hard. I ordered the whole week crêpe with tuna and goat cheese. It comes with a bag of Sun chips. I also treated myself to a real southern sweet iced tea. I never get to drink that in New York. The crêpe came out very quickly and I questioned how healthy it was because it taste so good. The tuna was definitely fresh and made that day. Really a fantastic simple lunch for people who work in this building or who might be staying at the W Hotel.

I have been here twice now and I really like this place. I hear what people say about it being a little pricey, but the portions are insane. A salad is about 10 $ and I can get three meals out of it. The ingredients are fresh and its not like they dump a whole lot of lettuce and skimp on the toppings. My salad had 4 or 5 ounces of chicken on it, maybe more. I love that i can build my own salad so I will not get bored here. The only negative I will say is that the crepes are not really your traditional crepes, they are thicker, more bread like and served cold. It’s more like a wrap. Don’t get me wrong, they are delicious, just not your traditional crêpe so do not be surprised when you order it. They are also enormous. I could barely finish half. I have never gotten any bad vibes from anyone behind the counter. Both the cashiers and the folks on the line have been polite to me. Tip: I COULDDRINKTHECITRUSCHIPOTLEDRESSING. AMAZING.

I was really tempted to have Chick-fil-A in the same food court but at the last minute decided to try a salad from Leaves & Loaves. And I sure was glad I did. The cashier was pretty nice, and the food prep folks were pleasant as well. After deliberation, I decided to get the signature salad. You can customize your own salad but the specialty salads seemed like the better deal. With tax, the salad was around $ 9.60. The signature salad had a bit of everything: chicken, dried cranberries, sliced almonds, goat cheese, mango cubes, cucumber crescents, and red wine vinaigrette on the side. The salad was definitely a decent quantity. I ate about half for lunch and then finished the rest for an afternoon snack or dinner part I. The ingredients were fresh and were not in skimpy portions. Huzzah! Don’t know about the loaves side of the business, but the leaves side has me satisfied.

Fresh and huge salads for less than $ 10 make me happy! The apple walnut salad is rocking my socks at the moment.

Wow. I have to say, one of the *worst* if not *worst* places I have ever been to. And I was excited to come here since the name Leaves & Loaves is so cute, but dang if we(my friend and I) weren’t tricked! This location is inside the midtown Colony Square mall, next to some other eateries… better run to those now and forget this L&L place. I warned you! So we get in line to order lunch, it’s maybe 1pm on a Saturday… there is a large overhanging menu, says fresh crepes and fresh soup. We get excited, we order — the guy at the counter is anything but, he is rude, impatient and unenthusiastic. He gets annoyed at our simple questions, yes it’s our first time there — and thankfully last time! Total for two people comes to almost $ 30…what?!! Ok, maybe the food will be great??? NO — it’s horrible. See my photos, two supposedly hot fresh crepes turn out to be two cold burrito-wraps in a plastic take-out container, wow that is cheap and NOT fresh. We are hungry so we eat, it’s bland, absolutely NO flavor. I unwrap the so-called crêpe and find it to be 80% wrap/skin vs. barely 20% filling of cold mushroom and cold chicken, which is of course dry tasting like it’s been sitting in a fridge for at least a couple days). Both meals $ 15/each for a «crêpe”/drink/chips…WTF. My friend’s soup was barely lukewarm, also didn’t taste good as it was too watered down and not worth the money for the small cup. Again, NOT recommended, RUN — far. I am concerned that this place is in business. Bad service, bad food, bad price! I would give 0 stars if possible.

I tried this after seeing a coworker bring back lunch from them. She had a delicious looking crêpe wrap that smelled fresh and yummy. I got the chicken and goat cheese crêpe with balsamic dressing. It was very yummy. The crêpe is like a big wheat wrap but fluffier than a tortilla wrap. I will definitely try this place again. All of the ingredients looked fresh and they have some good options that you don’t always find(goat cheese, mango, apple, strawberries, craisins…) Only negative is it was a bit pricey for lunch($ 9 for a wrap and chips) but the wrap was very big and satisfying.

I’ve visited this establishment 3 times and definitely enjoy their food. The portions and delicious flavor used on their food is great. I’ve had their crêpe dishes and will definitely return to try more and also try some of their salads.

Good place to stop in for a quick sandwich or salad if you’re in Colony Square or even staying at the W Midtown. Quite a healthy and varied array of options, and they’re also available to cater a takeaway team lunch, which satisfied all of my crew of seriously-picky NYers. No complaints on personnel, and I haven’t had the same service issues as the other reviewers, having dealt with both the owner and the cashier in question on various occasions.

Probably the best option for lunch in Colony Square. The salads I have tried are all delicious, well composed and very generous portions. I usually eat my largest meal of the day at lunch and most of the time cannot finish one of their salads in a single meal. The signature salad, Apple walnut(without golden raisins — blech), shrimp salad and spinach salad are my favorites. The sandwiches are consistently good too. They also serve Honest Tea which is one of my personal favorites. The only menu item I have not enjoyed to date are the soups. The roasted red pepper, shrimp bisque and something else I tried that I cannot even remember were just bland and not worth it. But all in all, I am a big fan. The service can sometimes be a bit slow compared to some fast food spots, but they assemble each salad or sandwich as it is ordered, often chopping some ingredients fresh in front of you. Not bad for a food court stall. I do have one real complaint and Ruth K’s review hit it on the head — what is up with the girl at the register? You know who you are! Skinny. Long hair. Absolute bitch. This week I was waited on by a man that I think may have been the owner and it was a breath of fresh air — he couldn’t have been nicer. I felt bad for the people at the other register where this girl was«working». She seriously treats people as if they are intruding on her day by daring to step up and order lunch. She sighs, scowls, snatches your money or credit card from your hand. Really — it is a serious bad spot in an otherwise nice break in the work day and the best addition to Colony Square in years.

All I have to say is TRY the ‘Apple Walnut Salad’, it’ll run you about $ 7.95. But it’s worth it, the portion is huge, I always have left overs for another day. Apple walnut salad consists of: romaine hearts, roasted chicken, apples, blue cheese, walnuts, golden raisins and honey balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious!
