Kimberly Kleiss, MD

Dr. Kleiss is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. She gets four stars for that alone. I got pregnant the month after she operated to remove a uterine polyp that was probably preventing pregnancy. And, though I wasn’t thrilled to need a C-​section, I was thrilled to have Dr. Kleiss doing it — my scar is practically invisible and I had a smooth recovery.
But over the 7+ years I have been seeing her, it became clear that this practice probably isn’t the best fit for me. Dr. Kleiss is very cool, relaxed, and friendly, and her general MO is to very confidently convey that everything is fine. This probably puts most people at ease, but for me – and I know I have anxiety issues – it does the opposite. I like data, and (what I perceive) as overconfidence makes me nervous, which causes me to ask more questions to verify. Which causes the provider to become irritated with me and probably write «difficult» in my chart a la Seinfeld

A lot of times, she was right and there was nothing to worry about. But sometimes my concerns were right… she was confident that I didn’t have any fertility issues, but when I pushed for testing we found a polyp … she played down my feeling that the baby was breech, but I was right and we found out too late to turn the baby. Basically, it just became a cycle where I never trusted her assurances and she was automatically skeptical of any concern I raised.
(Full disclosure, there was also an incident where I was left in a waiting room alone with no windows for over an hour and got pretty upset — the sad kind, not the angry kind… not real proud of that one, but I was going to be late for something important… after that incident I always brought my computer and expected to be there at least 2.5 hours)
At some point, things turned and I just never felt comfortable there anymore. I felt like I had a not-​entirely-​deserved reputation that I could never overcome. But I can’t complain — I have a healthy baby and my torso isn’t completely wrecked yet. And now I have switched to an OB practice I feel much more comfortable with (hopefully they don’t request my records and suddenly turn cold!)

Been a fan for 6 years! Down to earth, understanding, willing to talk about concerns or answer questions and good with matching needs to solutions.

Worth the wait– You may have to schedule out for an annual or wait for your first appointment but she is truly worth it. You will feel as though you have known each other for years. She listens well, is very attentive and objective. She gives you options and explains things very clearly. I never feel rushed when I see her and I have always felt like she enjoys what she does for a living and cares about her patients. I drive from OTP to see her and plan on continuing to do so when my husband and I decide to get pregnant.

Wonderful doctor. I know she must have a zillion patients but I feel as if she remembers me at every appointment. Very professional and has a great bedside manner.
The office is sort of a pain to get to (located inside Piedmont and you have to pay for parking) but everyone in the office is very nice and helpful. When I was pregnant they encourage you to see all of the other doctors in the practice and she was my favorite. Dr. Williams was great as well.

Awesome doctor. I’ve been seeing her for years. Personable, caring and thorough. I’ve sent a couple of friends to you and all have been very happy.

She is a wonderful doctor. Dr. Kleiss is precise and quick in her manner. You can tell her brain is churning, which I can’t say for many other doctors that I visit. I had a problem about a year ago and I went to two other doctors who were not able to catch the issue on the ultrasound. Dr. Kleiss did the ultrasound herself to save me money, because at that time I did not have insurance and was able to catch the problem and helped me get better. I also sent my friend to her, who was struggling with an issue. My friend had gone to several OB/​GYN at that point and no one could figure out what was wrong. Dr. Kliess saw her and on the first visit solved, what came to be a pretty simple solution, that all the other doctors were not able to figure out. The office is clean, and pleasant. The office staff are very friendly. The only thing I would have to say is that it is a very busy office, so sometimes you do feel the rush.

note to self: book your yearly’s 6 months ahead of time. i booked mine too late and was advised there was a 4 month waiting list. SUCKS!!! so i booked my appt and they offered to place me on the waiting list. 2 months later, i was able to see her.
everyone in the office from the front desk, to the MA’s, to the check-​out ppl are great, or as david k. would say R.N.P.W.H.
i wish they would update the office. i want it more zen, those little water fall thingys in each room, maybe some background zen music, maybe a flat screen in each room… you know. i want to feel comfortable. maybe nice robes, instead of those nasty, i-​never-​know-​how-​to-​wear-​them medical gowns. you know like the GYN’s office on Kings of Queens that everyone was fighting to get an appt with.
i love how they have all of the ultrasound stuff right down the hall and how they are connected to Piedmont by a bridge. and for you preggos, they now offer 3D and 4D ultrasounds for the baby! whoo hoo, i had to drive all the way to alpharetta (is that spelled correctly?) for mine.

It took me months to get an initial appointment which has now been rescheduled twice with over a month between the orginal and rescheduled appointment. It doesn’t matter how good a doctor may be if you aren’t actually able to see the doctor. I guess me and my future baby will have to move on.

Just got back from my first appointment with this wonderful woman! Beautiful office space, although it was a bit large for me. Very clean and well kept though, and almost looks like a waiting room for a spa lol.
Dr. Kleiss is amazing beyond words. She’s friendly, gentle and everything any woman could ever ask for in an OB/​GYN. I definitely recommend her, as her reviews are very well-​deserved. I took the bus here and it was WELL worth the trip!

Thank you Unilocalers for your great review of Dr. Kleiss! I already expected a long wait from the reviews, however it was well worth it. (My appointment was scheduled almost two months in advance.)
I was in and out within 45 minutes for my initial visit. Dr. Kleiss was very knowledgeable and not only discusses your current needs but also what you may need for the future. She was personable and had a great bedside manner. The office staff is also very helpful and expedient.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Kleiss yesterday. She had such great reviews on Unilocal,that I decided that I should give her a try. Dr. Kleiss was extremely nice, friendly, attentive, and caring. I didn’t feel rushed in our time together when we discussed why I was there — which you get to do in an office with your clothes on before the examination. Her physical was one of the fastest I’ve ever had too (yes!). I’d like to say that I look forward to my next appointment, but that would be a lie, for obvious reasons.

OK… so I went to the OB/​GYN the other day…
Well, maybe not. However, my wife did so this isn’t the strangest review… or is it?
Anyway, she raved and raved about Dr. Kleiss like I would rave about a pie from Lombardis. Professional, very friendly, personable, comfortable, informative, and all those other things.
She did all the woman things perfectly, better than anyone ever in history. Got it? Good. So there you have it. She gets top dog rating and every woman should use Dr. Kleiss from this day forward!
Update: I got to meet Dr. Kleiss recently and I have to say she is great. Relaxing and down to earth demeanor which settles you down about big things (like up and coming babies).

Okay, I’ve been putting off actually writing reviews on Unilocal for forever… I know, lame. But for Dr. Kleiss, I just HAVE to. She’s that freaking fantastic.
She is the perfect mix of being competent and personable so that your experience is nothing but comfortable in a potentially extremely UNcomfortable position. I don’t know anyone who digs having their goods so blatantly on display… it’s not a fun thing. Dr. Kleiss is quick, efficient and distracts you with her good nature so that before you realize it, everything’s over. Perfect.
I found Dr. Kleiss when I was looking for a better OB/​GYN when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. She took her time answering every question my husband and I had along the way, injecting humor without making us feel stupid… even when there was a problem with the baby (everything’s fine, thanks for asking).
I could seriously go on and on about Dr. Kleiss, but I’m sure you get the point. It’s not very often that a doctor inspires such passion in their patients… and she obviously does just that.

Dr. Kleiss is an excellent doctor. The first time I went in to see her, as a new patient, she took me into her office and talked with me for a while to find out as much as she could about me. She took a lot more time with me than most doctors I’ve seen in the past.
I highly recommend her.

Dr. Kleiss is the best! It can be kind of weird moving to a new town and replacing your entire pit crew. Thank goodness I found Dr. Kleiss and she just «got it» right away. She listens, she’s open minded and she made me feel comfortable right off the bat. What more can you ask for when you’re asking a total stranger to go «downtown?»

She’s great. She talks to you like she’s been your friend for years… which is exactly what you need when someone’s going to be exploring all around in there… you know what I’m talking about.
