Kerr & Gavric Dentistry

I had my first visit with this practice a month ago. My hygienist was very nice and professional and my cleaning went well. I was told by the hygienist and the dentist that no cavities were seen on the X-​ray. The dentist examined my teeth after my cleaning and told me within a minute I had 5 cavities. This was extremely upsetting and unexpected because I don’t have a history of cavities. In lieu of this appointment, I decided to get a second opinion from my childhood dentist of 20 years in Macon. My childhood dentist retook X-​rays and examined my teeth only to find one small cavity. You know your history and teeth best. Be wary of this dentist because I believe I was taken advantage of. I’m glad I got the second opinion before I paid $ 300+ for unneeded holes and fillings in my teeth.

I went for my front tooth filling and it was horrible experience. There was a very small dark spot between my front 2 teeth but Dr. Kerr carved out large portion. When it was over, there was huge gap between the teeth. I was very unhappy and showed my displeasure right there. He redid the filling to correct it but but even then I am not satisfied with the final appearance of my teeth. I am really upset about this and will never go there again.

It really pains my heart to give them two stars because when I was a patient — I loved, loved, loved them.
I found that they actually seemed to care about my dental health and unlike a lot of the filtered reviews — they never tried to upsell me or suggest unnecessary treatments. In fact — they talked me out of a teeth whitening. The office manager /​receptionist was sweet & charming (and funny). Both dentists were funny and pleasant.
Unfortunately — all my warm & fuzzy feelings came to a screeching halt earlier this year. I didn’t change insurance — but my plan benefits changed. I went in for a routine cleaning and unbeknownst to me — they were out of network so I wound up paying and arm & a leg for a routine cleaning and X-​rays.
I get that the office is very busy and if I’d dropped in unexpectedly — I would be a little more understanding — but since I scheduled this appointment weeks /​months in advance — I would think that it would be SOP (standard operating practice) to call my insurance company to confirm that my services are covered.
In fact — I know most doctors and dental offices will ask you during the check in process if your insurance has changed. Apparently not at Kerr & Gavric. As my nephew would say, in double fact, when I called to schedule an appointment with the dentist I used before them, I made the appointment and the next day they called me back to let me know that they would be happy to do my cleaning — but that they were no longer in network so I would have to pay $ 165 for x-​rays and cleaning.
I don’t like wasting money. They do a good job — but at the end of the day — who’s going to pay for cleaning or any other wellness visit when they don’t have to?! I felt that the least they could have done is offer some sort of discount — and I don’t mean the self-​pay discount.
So I’ve taken my business elsewhere.

Great staff and amazing dentist (at least Dr. Gavric which is who I had). They were very prompt and I did not have to wait at all to get in and started, unlike other dental practices I’ve been to where you need to schedule an appointment 2hrs before you expect to get in.
Would recommend them to anyone in search of good dental work and friendly faces :-)

I have been seeing Dr. Kerr since 1998 and have always been pleased. I have recommended a number of friends, and my husband even left his dentist of 20 years and is a convert as well!

Scammers… they try to upsell you into expensive services (the teeth version of a high power wash, for hundreds of dollars), while refusing to simply clean your teeth. Nice and friendly (at least on the surface)…fake smiles all around. Made me so angry… I don’t have time for this crap.
