J.MONT Makeup & Waxing Studio

Before going to J. Mont I’d never had a Brazillian before. In a word. OUCH! Jennifer is very sweet and was calming me down because half way through it, I was going to call it quits lol. I had to remind myself that I’ve been through child birth 3 times and this was not as bad.
The first time, we did not use the hard wax, but on my second visit we did the hard/​soft combo. The hard wax was extremely hard to get off and left me feeling really sore.
I agree with the other reviewers that you do leave really sticky.
Jennifer made the experience pleasant and told me exactly what was going on. Her prices are great.
I find it hard to find ANY business in StudioPlex. I just get so turned around in there.

So, for my first Brazilian wax the experience was great. If you are modest then it’s probably not for u! Jennifer was very gentle and personable and made me feel super comfortable. I got a thorough wax and a little girl talk to boot. Win-​win for me. I would say my pain tolerance is average and I did pop a few ibuprofen before hand. Some areas were more sensitive than others but I was expecting it to be much worse. I was there for 30 minutes including the short wait time before. The facilities were clean and professional and she played a little Christina Perri and Beyonce while she worked. I had a Groupon, but even without it I think her prices are reasonable. I like a «clean slate» so It was more than worth the pain and price. I will be back in 4 – 6 weeks for sure.

I was a little surprised to read these reviews, because Jennifer is friendly, funny, and overall does a great job with little to no pain. I tend to get very squeamish about most salon services and she does an excellent job in distracting me from everything. As someone who is hypersensitive, I recommend her. Along with great conversation, she even offers a glass of wine to calm your nerves!

I had my first waxing (bikini) done here by the owner and the experience was overall very positive. She talked me through the experience and was gentle and professional. I would go back in the future.

I’ve been to J. Mont on two occasions. The first was for a makeup lesson. The second time was for a brazilian wax. I was very pleased the first time. The lesson was good and my makeup looked good when it was done. If this review were based on the first visit alone then I would give J. Mont 5 stars.
The brazilian wax, however, was very awkward. The woman that did the wax was very sweet and, unlike another review, I didn’t think it was all that painful. (I’ve been getting brazilian waxes for over a year so perhaps my expectations are different) Anyway, my real issue was that I felt sticky afterward and I know from experience that this is not the norm. I’m guessing it has to do with them using a combination of the hard and soft wax. Most places only use the hard wax when doing brazilian waxes and I think the hard wax cleans up better (minimal residue).
After the wax was done and I was getting dressed, I noticed that my skin was sticky and there were random strings (from the material used to pull off the wax). I’ve never left a wax before and felt like I needed to take a shower but that’s how I felt. There should have been some moist wipes or something available to clean up with. The woman told me I could go to the bathroom if I needed to clean up but since the bathroom is not connected to the wax room, I’d have to put my clothes on first, then get cleaned up in the bathroom and put the same clothes (now sticky on the inside) back on. I just went home where I could clean up properly.
Also, another pet peeve of mine is businesses that don’t return phone calls. I called J. Mont early this week (Monday or Tuesday) to schedule an appointment to get my makeup done this weekend. I also mentioned in the voice message that I wanted to purchase the powder that was used on me during the initial makeup lesson. I actually asked about this when I went back for my second visit but they were out of stock. Its been over a month since that visit and perhaps they are still out of stock, but my expectation is that there would be a follow up call informing me that the foundation is available if I was still interested in buying it. That call never came but that’s really a side note. My point here really is that its been several days since I left that message and no one has called me back. I’m getting my makeup done somewhere else because they didn’t return my phone call.
Overall, the makeup services provided by J. Mont are great but I honestly can’t say that I’d recommend them if I can’t get anyone on the phone. It would make me look bad referring someone to them if they had the same experience. Also, I would not recommend them for a brazilian wax. It was unnecessarily awkward. I’m hoping they have made some changes since my last visit and that’s why Kaitlin S. had such a positive experience with her bikini wax.

I can honestly say this was the most painful Brazilian I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve been getting them done for years. The price was right but OW!
Like the other reviewer, the girl was super sweet and nice but it took forever and hurt like hell. Even though she did a combo of hard/​soft wax I believe everything hurt more than any other time.
To top it off, the service was finished with a rubdown of Wal-mart’s store brand, Equate astringent. Talk about adding flame to the fire. It burned like crazy. Every other time I’ve had it done they use baby oil or some type of soothing oil.
It’s been less than a month since my service and I already feel like it’s time for another when usually I can go a month and a half.
Everyone was so nice but from now on I’ll stick to the waxing specialists I normally go to instead of trying a new place because of what seems like a good deal. Their makeup did seem pretty impressive though.

I received a Brazilian wax thanks to a Groupon since I am shopping for a new place to get it done. I have been doing it for years and have never been so disappointed and bad skin in my life. It could have just been the lady who worked on me (who was incredibly pleasant, sweet and considerate, so I feel terrible writing this review).
The girl was very slow at pulling the strips, which is not something for this type of procedure. Did not get all the areas, and asked me to hold skin that was covered in wax. As the other reviewer wrote, I have never before left a salon feeling sticky everywhere, my hands included. It was terrible and for anyone who has ever gotten it done before, that is NOT normal. I was very polite and again, she was super sweet, so I would try possibly to give their make-​up a go since their customer service was up to par, but by far without a doubt, I will NEVER go there for a wax or recommend it to anyone.

I’ve been getting Brazilian waxing done for over a year now, and have been to 4 different spas/​salons. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had. There is very little privacy considering the studio is in a loft, and each ‘room’ consists of curtains. My aesthetician used hard wax, despite my insistence that she not because I had had undesired results from the wax before. When I left, I was sore, bruised, and the stickiest I had ever been leaving a salon. I didn’t even know waxing could cause bruising! Oh and it was a spotty job!

I absolutely love Jenny. She is the definition of a true professional. I never know what look I’m going for besides make me beautiful and she makes me gorgeous, not only that her makeup lasts for at least 3 days. The studio is simply amazing and so is Jenny and Terry. If you want to look beyond gorgeous, then you have to come to J. Mont Studio.
