Ibiza Bites

Picked up the skirt steak meal (Churoso?) and fried green tomatoes from #FoodTruckFridays in the Broad Street Plaza. The food was ready quickly, the fried items were still crispy in the heat, and it was well worth the price.

Simply delish. The chicken n waffles were my kids favorite, but what was really impressive was the Sola signature bite. They call it brisket but to us Spanish speakers it’s basically Ropa Vieja sitting in it’s delicious sauce on top of cheddar grits. It’s like my aunt’s best Cuban recipe and the best southern food all in one! I’ve never reviewed a food truck before, but these guys deserved it. One portion was a full meal. I wish I had room for more… I can’t wait to try the other menu items!

The food was so good! Love food trucks. I got the coconut fried chicken dish and the Parmesan fries. Both were amazing, although they weren’t served as hot as I’d have liked. Would eat at this food truck again!

Ibiza bites is one of my favorite Atlanta food trucks. Yes, it’s pricey, but compared to other food trucks, their food actually tastes really good like something that would be served in a gourmet restaurant. When their food truck was on the GT campus, I wanted to try their lobster mac n’ cheese and fried green tomatoes. But they were sold out by the time we got to the line. Instead we got the Darn churrasco which is Grilled skirt steak w/​chimichurri sauce, mango coconut rice, and served w/​roasted corn, diced zucchini, oyster mushrooms, and a nice plump maduro (plantain). The skirt steak was so tender and that chimichurri sauce was so yummy. The seasonings used were all on point. It was a delight to eat.

This food truck had great churrasco skirt steak, tender and cooked just right. The sides went really well, no overcooked but tender.

Tried the lemon parmesan waffle fries. The fries themselves were good, but covered in «meyer lemon aioli.» It was so sweet. Should be on the side, if at all.

I don’t know how this is rated so high, I think I’ll need to give them another shot. My entrée was pretty small or overpriced, and just didn’t seem like it was well executed.

There are a lot of great food trucks popping up in Atlanta, but Ibiza Bites is by far THE BEST! What sets Ibiza Bites apart is the fact that its menu feels like something you would find at a sit-​down restaurant. Each dish has multiple components and depth, giving you different bites and textures and flavors that many other food trucks (who are trying to crank out simple concession-​stand food as quickly as possible) don’t offer. In addition, the Ibiza Bites prices are hard to beat given the extremely generous portions of delicious food that you receive! I am always flabbergasted when I walk away from a food truck with boring fries and a sandwich and spent $ 10-​$ 15 on bad/​mediocre food. With Ibiza Bites, you will walk away with a happy tummy and know that your money was well spent!
I have tried a few of Ibiza Bites’ dishes, and these are by far my favorite:
1) The coconut crusted chicken with jicama slaw. The basket is stuffed with boneless chicken tenders and slaw. The sweet chicken is balanced by the cool, crunchy slaw for a perfect blend of flavors. I typically steer clear of coconut, but its application in this dish does not feel forced or processed.
2) Fried green tomatoes with goat cheese. These FGT are absolutely delicious! They are perfectly warm and crisp with a silky tomato interior. The savory goat cheese blends nicely with the aioli and the tomato for the perfect bite.
3) Georgia glazed chicken tenders with creamy grilled corn. This dish blew me away! The chicken was crispy and the sweet glaze subtly coated each piece, packing a ton of flavor with each bite! The grilled corn was savory and scrumptious — I gobbled it up!
Unilocal TIP: If you check in to Ibiza Bites on Unilocal then you get a free fresh squeezed lemonade! I saved my free lemonade coupon for another day, but I have had it before and can attest that it is crisp and refreshing!
This truck does a lot of private events, so if you see the Ibiza Bites truck around town and serving the public, then you would be amiss not to try it!

I went here in September when they were out for the Outkast concert so this review is long overdue. I don’t live in Atlanta and at this point the picture of the food in my phone is just teasing me. Anyone reading this feel free to express mail me a special order!
I got the fried green tomatoes. Now this was a whim because I despise red tomatoes (and cilantro even though that’s not relevant to this point). Have never ever liked them, pick them off all burgers, salads, everything. But have you ever had one of those moments when you are so hungry that the description of anything sounds delicious? This was one of those moments for me. Plus fried green tomatoes always sounded like a tasty treat in my books as a kid so I thought, «Why not?» The worse that could happen is I’ll lick off the aioli sauce and give the rest to my date lol.
Well… I loved every single bite! The green tomato, to my surprise, tastes nothing like the red. It was tart and tangy and… just different from anything I’ve ever tried. They were fried to perfect, golden perfection and the awesome sauce they so beautifully drizzled on top was just an amazing complement and not enough! I also ordered the bbq meat and mac and cheese and it was also outstanding. Perfect bbq sauce, not too spicy, nice and sweet and flavorful and the mac and cheese was cheesy goodness.
Now I will say that the coconut chicken tenders that my date ordered were somehow a little dry. But he liked it so I guess.
Also I dont recall exactly but they had totally hilarious names for the food which I liked. Oh wait I think it was like, «the mac and cheesy fo sheezy» something like that. Silly things like that really make me crack up!
So here’s to Ibiza Bites who gave me my first introduction to fried green tomatoes. It was superb and worth every penny. Next time I’m in ATL I’m tracking you guys down.

This is my second visit to Ibiza Bites. Last time I got the coconut chicken which was pretty good. Today I had the Darn Churrusco which I thought was outstanding! The meat was perfectly cooked and tender. The flavor profile was excellent! Very satisfying lunch. Prices are a bit high. Would like to try the fried green tomatoes, but $ 5 added to another $ 8-​$ 12 is more than I’m willing to pay. That’s why 4 instead of 5 stars. But I will go back. Couple more dishes I’d like to try. Really nice variety.

My favorite truck.

I’ve been wanting to try Ibiza Bites for so. long. I’ve heard such good things both on Unilocal and from friends, with the majority of the people proclaiming Ibiza Bites to be their favorite food truck. I finally had the opportunity to try it at last weekend’s Atlanta Street Food Festival, and overall I think it’s worth some of the hype — is it the best food truck in Atlanta though… I’m not ready to commit to that title…
I was a little disappointed with their menu offerings at the festival as I’ve staked out their online menu planning the perfect order — but of course, none of those items were available that day; story of my life… But we did made due and went with
Lola’s Coconut Fried Chicken” (which is served with mango slaw, and «coco» rice) and the lobster roll.
The fried chicken, we really enjoyed — especially in combination with the slaw, the chicken was nice and crisp, full of flavor, and the juxtaposition with the slaw and rice was perfect. Though the rice is titled «coco» rice, it tasted like standard steamed rice to me. While the lobster roll was good, it was more bread than anything, there was only maybe 3 – 4 small pieces of lobster in the actual roll –and a lot of corn. I did like it enough though, but it really couldn’t qualify as a lobster roll in my book. Another item we really enjoyed is their guava lemonade — it’s so good! It’s not too sweet nor too tarte — it’s the perfect balance and so, so, refreshing.
The staff was friendly and efficient — though they had one of the longest lines at the festival, they expedited their food much quicker and we got out of line much faster than expected!

Loved most everything I tried here. Obviously all the typical aspects of a review go out the window here… No ambiance, décor, service, etc to speak of. This is a food truck, but it’s a damn good one.
Onto the food… Loved the steak and coconut chicken dishes. Both VERY well prepared, flavorful, perfectly cooked and a pretty good size portion for around $ 10… Also really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, these nice and crispy, well flavored and still juicy on the inside. The waffle fries were just average though, hence the reason why this place went to four stars.

The food is good but very overpriced. I don’t understand how they can charge $ 9 for such a small portion. The lemonade is also good but I wouldn’t really get food from here again due to the tiny portion sizes.

This is literally one of the best things I’ve ever ate. I would buy this again and definitely try other items from Ibiza Bites. I’m interested to see what their restaurant dishes are like and if they vary from their food truck dishes.
The slaw complimented the fried coconut chicken perfectly and the sweet sauce over the chicken was great with the freshness of the slaw and sweetness of the rice. So much flavor! I love flavorful dishes! After eating the meal my taste buds and stomach were very pleased! Plus, i didn’t feel stuffed. The food tasted fresh and the dish was original. By far, Ibiza Bites is the best food truck I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend trying them out!

Oh how I love a good food truck. While I enjoy being able to sit down and eat at a table and prefer to limit the opportunity to spill down the front of myself, the food you can get off a great food truck should be a unique dining experience and this makes me exceedingly happy. By the way, if it is something you can get anywhere else, then what the heck is the point, I ask you???
So I was really excited when we went to the Mumford & Sons concert at Centennial Olympic Park and there was a small lineup of food trucks for dinner. I was dancing on the inside when I saw Ibiza Bites and the long line — this just proved what I had heard about them and I had been dying to try them.
Unfortunately, I was limited in my choices of what I could eat off their menu at M&S — coconut (allergic), lobster (allergic), goat cheese (not a fan)… so I went with my only choice, the Beef Cheezy — braised brisket with a coca-​cola BBQ sauce atop mac n cheese. Also, I was with Heidi P (check out her review) and she got the Fried Green Tomatoes (the goat cheese) and the Lemon Parmesan Waffle Fries. Okay, let’s talk about the food…
The Beef Cheezy was delightful (I’m sorry, but I can’t remember, but I think it was spelled with a Z). The brisket was tender, not overly sweet, with a nice zing to it. I love BBQ, but as long as the sauce is not too sweet. The Mac and Cheese was delicious, but I felt it needed more sharpness to it to help cut the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. It was a white cheese sauce (I believe a combo of cheeses) that just needed either white sharp cheddar (or more of it) or some Parmesan (or more of it) — or maybe both. It just got a bit lost against the strength of flavor from the brisket. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but I wish it could have stood up against the meat more.
The Fried Green Tomatoes were amazing — luckily the goat cheese was not too overpowering, and it was topped with a delicious Chipotle Aioli — it was definitely something I would order again and probably again. The Fries were yummy, but definitely the lesser of the 3 dishes of the night. There was a perfect cook on the fries and I loved the Parmesan on the top, but the gooey sweet sauce in the bottom was hard to place — I think this was supposed to be the lemon. I would have preferred maybe a zest on top versus the goo.
As Heidi P mentioned, prices were inflated for the M&S event, but also they were forced to only sell the COP drink choices (water and sodas) and since they had just gotten them, they were warm. I don’t blame IB — you have to understand these things are dictated by the venue. I’ve gotten used to this kind of thing, so I will be sure to try them again at the food truck park, or one of the nightly food truck gatherings (I already follow them on Twitter).
One of the other things I liked is the ease of check out… well almost. Having visited a TON of food trucks, they should consider a couple of things: 1) Use numbers not names. With such a large crowd, I heard a similar name and almost took the wrong food (which was lobster, btw, which I am allergic to). Hearing someone holler from inside a food truck in a loud place without any amplification, I’m sure it happened to more than just me. 2) No receipt was offered. They DO use Square, which means credit cards are accepted. I did not have to sign for my card (odd), but I was also unable to add a tip to my bill (which I would have if I had been given the option as I treat them like any service folk). But I would have loved to have a receipt emailed or texted to me for record keeping. And since I have my email tied to my credit card, it should have popped up on Square to prompt to email it. I guess with the volume, they just skipped this option?
Overall, I loved everything. I’ll eat there again and I cannot wait to try their other offerings (obviously without tree nuts or lobster). Thanks for a yummy dinner before a killer show.

Now this is good stuff. Had these guys’ stuffs tonight at the Mumford and Son’s concert at Centennial Olympic Park. Not trying to name-​drop but, it’s helpful when pointing out the inflated prices — I confirmed this when I visited Ibiza’s website to reference their menu.
You can’t hate too hard on the prices. They gotta eat, too, right? Supply and demand. lotsa people attending. very hungry… blah blah. It’s all good.
I ordered the Crispy Fried Green Tomatoes (Thomasville, GA Goat Cheese Stuffed Fried Green Tomatoes Spiked with Chipotle Aioli) — These are definitely some of the best FGT I’ve ever had. The crispy part is on target, and it actually sticks to the tomato, rather than sliding off when you take a bite. The goat cheese is absolutely perfectly portioned, and the Chipotle aioli is like a beautiful scarf on a beautiful woman. It’s not necessary, but definitely doesn’t hurt. Paid $ 6 instead of the normal $ 4.
I also ordered the Lemon Parmesan waffle fries, also priced at $ 6 this evening, but I don’t see them on the menu to confirm the regular price. I’d wager they’re normally a $ 4 item along with the FGT. These were tasty, but it’s not really «lemon parmesan waffle fries,» — moreso «waffle fries with lemon Parmesan aoili squirted on top, with some other stuff that was tasty but wasn’t listed on the menu also squirted in there.» I think that other stuff was like, lemony honey, but don’t quote me. It was good anyway.
I tasted the Cheesy Beefy thing which was some brisket piled atop mac-​n-​cheese, this item was $ 10 tonight. Check out Lindy F’s review when she writes it, for a more detailed, I’m sure, recount of this item.
Last but not least, now that I think of it, earlier this year I tried their, Ginger Brussels Sprouts: Sautéed in Garlic, Sesame, Ginger. THAT was finger lickin’ good.
Worth mentioning that they have a Unilocal check-​in deal YAY! for one free Lemonade. Unfortunately, it was not valid for this special event, so I didn’t get to try it, but I saved it to use later :)
The food filled us up and mostly satisfied my taste buds. I’d skip the $ 6 fries next time. This is a pretty solid food truck, which I’d recommend, fo sho!

I wish I had been able to sample more from Ibiza Bites. Looking at the photos here, I can see they only had a few of their items available at Dunwoody Food Truck Thursdays last week.
I had the fried green tomatoes and parmesan-​lemon fries. The tomatoes were top-​notch! Fresh, flavorful, and structurally sound; I was able to eat them with my hands without getting messy! The fries were good, but I was a much bigger fan of the tomatoes. Man, now I’m craving one!
I look forward to sampling some more cuisine from Ibiza Bites in the future.

I was generally impressed with these guys. And then I came and looked at your pictures and got mad. They need to always have slow roasted meats over grits, and they didn’t have it tonight. Now I’m gonna have to stalk them until they pay on the promises you have delivered to me. The parmesan fries with lemon cream sauce just does not push my buttons like slow roasted seasoned pork shoulder.
That being said, the fried green tomato was great! The tomato was perfectly cooked so that when bitten it separates nicely. The cheese coating kept the bread-​crumb coating stuck. I’ve had fried green tomatos where the shell flaked off or one bite would pull the whole tomato out of the middle. This was perfection of the form, like a tomato-​cheese cookie.

Wow… I totally did not have the same experience as many others, it seems. I just tried this place today and found it to be mediocre, at the very best. Add to that the expensive price tag and I have to knock down this rating from A-​OK to Meh. I’ve experienced better.
It is a beautiful day, so I headed out to Candler Park to experience the Red Stripe MidSummer Music & Food Festival (which was pretty awesome and ends today, so if you read this in time and haven’t hit it up… Well, what the hell are you waiting for?). I surveyed the food truck lineup and was quite impressed with all that were there. There were probably about 20 there but I decided on Ibiza Bites, due to the amazing reviews that I had come across previously.
I got the Ibiza Signature Bite and lemon parmesan fries while my lunch buddy (Lozzzzz) got the Lobster Roll. Let’s just say we each parted with more than just a Hamilton bill. But I had high hopes. When his order came out and I saw how puny his lobster roll was, my heart sort of sank. But maybe the flavors and lobster portion would be generous?! His order came with a 1-​oz. (I think it was 1 ounce, because it was the tiny-​baby size) bag of Cape Cod chips. My order came up at the window. Wha??! The BBQ brisket with mac and cheese looked pitiful. And the fries… Well, there may have been about 15 strings. Maybe. These were probably the best part of the meal. And well, they weren’t the best fries ever. The strange thing about these lemon parmesan fries was that they were slightly sweet. While I am starting to develop a taste for sweet/​savory, I did not appreciate the sugary taste that these fries had.
Downtrodden, we got back to our shaded table (yay for trees!) and started going to town. Only we didn’t go to town because we were utterly disappointed. Not only were the portions on the way smaller side, the temperature was completely subpar. My food was barely warm.
The person taking our order was really nice. But that was about the only good thing of this whole experience. Maybe Ibiza Bites has allowed all the praise go to its head? If so, please iron out this arrogance and get back on the track to making the good food that I know my other Unilocal counterparts have gotten from your establishment.

Ibiza Bites is the burnt orange food truck with the giant bird graphic on the side. I ran into this truck at the Atlanta Food Truck Park on Howell Mill Rd. The truck was started by a couple, who named it after the Mediterranean nightlife-​island of Ibiza, located off the east coast of Spain. The food served at Ibiza bites is a mixture of Latin American and Southern using local and seasonal ingredients.
This truck was, by far, the most popular truck at the food truck park. It had the longest line and there never seemed a moment where there was no crowd huddled around it, either customers in line or waiting for their orders. The truck sold out early of its popular Lobster Mac & Cheese and El Equador Peruvian-​Style Ceviche, two of the more expensive items.
«Main Bites» left for the day included coconut fried chicken atop mango basil slaw, skirt steak with chimichurri (garlic and parsley) sauce and succotash, Venezuelan slow-​roasted brisket with cheddar grits, and Georgia peach Caprese salad. These items ran from $ 7.00 to $ 8.50 each.
Three sides («Feel Good Bites») consisted of crispy fried green tomatoes, lemon Parmesan waffle fries, and mango coconut rice. The mango coconut rice is served with several of the mains including the chicken, steak, and brisket. These sides, along with the strawberry shortcake dessert, were between $ 3 – 4 each.
Special for the day was Rafa’s Bourbon Burger, which contained Angus beef, blue cheese, arugula, fried green tomato, pickle, bourbon BBQ sauce, and waffle fries for $ 11. Beverages ($ 2) included lemonade and sweet tea out of self-​serve coolers next to the truck.
Probably the most popular bite of the night were the fried green tomatoes. They were stuffed with goat cheese from Thomasville, GA and topped with spicy chipotle aioli. These were delicious. The batter was light, had a fine consistency, and was indeed crispy. Goat cheese was stuffed inside the batter, next to the tomato slices and a generous portions of rich aioli topped everything off. Three tomatoes come with each order.
The thing I like best about Ibiza Bites are the selection and quality of ingredients used. It’s gourmet, farm-​to-​table-​type food, served out of a truck. If you don’t mind the long lines, then it’s definitely worth a visit.

Ibiza Bites is my new #1 favorite street food vendor — I obviously fell in love b/​c I ate there twice this past week (Street Food Mondays at Woodruff Arts Center, and Street Food Thursdays at P’tree and 12^th) … follow them on Twitter @ibizabites to see where they will be next. They describe their food as South American, Latin American, and Deep South. Like David K, I call it «delicious.»
IBIZA SIGNATURE BITE — $ 6.50
I ran into David K at both street food events, and he told me he loved the signature bite — so that’s what I got during my first visit. Slow-​cooked Latin spiced brisket on a generous bed of stone-​ground cheddar grits, and then a decorative plantain ribbon for presentation :) Everything was yummy, esp. the meat — I could’ve easily eaten a 2^nd serving :)
DARN CHURRASCO — $ 7
3 of my co-​workers had gotten this, and they all LOVED it! I loved it too, esp. the mixed veggies. Grilled skirt steak w/​chimichurri sauce (meat is chewy as with all skirt steak), mango coconut rice, and served w/​roasted corn, diced zucchini, oyster mushrooms, and a nice plump maduro :) Beautiful presentation for «street food.»
PECAN-​FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES — $ 6
I got this for my 2^nd visit, and it was a great combination of sweet-​n-​salty. Fried chicken was boneless dark meat, and drizzled w/​maple syrup, peaches, and dijon mustard. Delicious too but for me, probably a «one-​time only» experience … mostly b/​c «fried» food is something I should say away from, haha :) I’d probably get the churrasco or signature bite next time.
CRISPY FRIED GREEN TOMATOES — $ 3.50
What makes these fried green tomatoes extra special is the surprise layer of Georgia Thomasville goat cheese spiked w/​chipotle aioli included too. Definitely worth a try, esp. if you’re a fan of fried green tomatoes (or goat cheese).
HAND-​CUT SWEET POTATO FRIES — $ 3
I love that all their sides have a creative twist — their sweet potato fries are «dusted w/​fire-​roasted marshmallows». We were fortunate to get a complimentary serving — thank you! Honestly I couldn’t tell if the marshmallows were fire-​roasted but I appreciated they were different :)
PIE FRIES — $ 2.50
I was intrigued by the description … I never had pie fries before. It’s basically pie crust shaped like sticks, and they came w/​2 dipping sauces: passionfruit, and key lime. Definitely a sharing dessert b/​c it comes w/​several sticks and 1 – 2 was enough for me. It was good but I wouldn’t order it again … I would order again their bread pudding though!
APPLE BREAD PUDDING — $ 3
Huge generous piece of bread pudding that was to die for. Definitely made for sharing. Drizzled w/​caramel sauce and white chocolate chips. Yum.
Overall 5 stars for excellent food — they really raised the bar for street food. I look forward to eating their food on a weekly basis :)

They call it «SoLa.» I call it delicious. I still can’t get over the fabulousness that was in my mouth (and it’s truly been a while since I’ve been able to make a proclamation like that).
The classic bite is seasoned pork over cheese grits. Nom, nom, nom… I could have gone back for seconds… and thirds. By the end of one plate I was full, so it wasn’t necessary (although I almost licked the wax paper).
I also tried a sample of their friend green tomatoes. I absolutely love how well they perfectly blended different cultural cuisines. Hopefully I’ll see you next week!
