Hyatt Regency Atlanta

Excellent hotel. Would definitely come back. Room was spaces & tidy. Staff was professional & courteous. Location is perfect. Stayed here twice, will likely stay with this location for all future ATL travel.

Two stars for:
–Clean, modern rooms
–Pleasant front desk and housekeeping staff
Missing stars for:
–Noise pollution. The majority of the rooms face a huge atrium which gets super noisy at night.
–The overall vibe is very institutional, corporate, and sad. Once you get in your room it’s fine but the interior, exterior, and common spaces all look like 1980s Communist Russia. If I came here for a leisure stay I would be super disappointed.
–Ridiculous cancellation policy. I was booked for 10 nights and had to leave after 3 nights for work-​related reasons. Despite giving 24 hours notice they tried to make me pay for the full 10 night reservation because I had «confirmed my stay online.» 1. What does that even mean, 2. Umm, no. I understand paying a fee if you cancel without notice but the woman on the phone was trying to tell me that I had to pay for the full 10 nights no matter what. Needless to say, I got out of it. Don’t let them pull that jive with you.

First time staying here. It’s great as it sits in the middle of downtown, walking distance to just about everything (World of Coke, Aquarium, College Hall of Fame, CNN, etc). Über rides for as cheap as $ 3 – 7 if you need wheels.
The hotel has a fancy look to it when you walk in. The staff is as friendly & helpful as can be. They provide apples upon check-​in & fused water in the afternoon, sometimes in the morning. Upon check-​in there were no king beds per my request so I was offered dual beds. Not 2 queens, but 2 fulls, WHAT?! I didn’t have a choice so I took what they had. The room is your typical sized hotel room. Bottled waters of Aquafina for $ 5, a fridge, safety deposit box & a balcony. I could still hear the noises from the street even w/​the sliding door closed. The bathroom you have to close the door to use the toilet. It’s a bit awkward otherwise. No amenities like body wash or mouthwash is provided, simply the basics lotion, shampoo & conditioner.
They do have a gym that is on the first floor. It has apples & oranges to enjoy post workout along w/​fused water & filtered water. The gym has an array of cardio equipment. In addition they have free weights, jump rope, a cable machine, 2 benches & several standard workout machines. Plenty of equipment to get a good sweat on.
If you need to lay your head, this is a good enough a place to stay. Just keep in mind that during those busy times which is just about all the time the wait time for an elevator can be awhile.

Ran out of comforters. Hope you like scratchy blankets. Called the front desk and they said they have just as many comforters as they have rooms. Not one extra for a roll-​out. If you are thinking about upgrading then be sure to bring your own bedding.

Ugh service wasn’t the best here. From the moment I walked in after a 10 hour travel day– no smiles. I’m not asking for much but a nice greeting from staff. Man!

I had troubles getting into the gym and I went to the front desk to get a new key card and they wanted my ID vs looking me in the system however since my key card was not working I couldn’t get back into my room. So again– after 10 hours of travel I had to wait for security to
Let me in my room just to get my ID to issue me a new card.
Second:
I came on a conference weekend. Worst idea ever. So many people. I wish they would have said something when i booked. The restaurant was always booked and it was so loud everywhere.
Overall I wish the staff was more pleasant. They all had not good attitudes. Just disdain looks and annoyed faces. The worst to have at the end of a long travel day.

This place gets packed!!! It seems Atlanta always has some type of an event.
The room service is $$$$ –_​– (not worth it) Instead, walk out and after one block theres so much more joint to grub at!
My recent stay was nice BUT the toilet water kept running NON Stop! (Had to keep my restroom door closed in order to shut it out)

The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is one of the most beautiful and breath taking hotels I have ever stayed in. I have resided in some beautiful hotels but this one takes the cake: people, service, and atmosphere. The facility is just a diamond that sits in the middle of Atlanta and captures the essence of Atlanta; been here many times and the Hyatt is the flagship. You are in the center of Atlanta but the hotel is so spectacular who would want to leave?
As far as service, I recognize Talley BF Jarra who ramps the service element to a whole new level. He took the time to ensure that your stay is optimal: dining, meetings and just general questions about Atlanta.

Great Hotel. Good location that is basically in the center of everything downtown. You could definitely just walk out the hotel and find attractions, restaurants, and other things. Close to MARTA.
It’s pretty stylish but not over the top. It’s more of a business hotel in my opinion. Great hotel to hold conferences and business meetings.

I have no complaints about the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Everything was high quality. Customer service was aces — everyone who worked there was super friendly and helpful. The room that I booked was spacious and I could relax when I got back after running around the city. Also, the hotel is conveniently located near MARTA.
Sway was also a wonderful hotel bar/​restaurant. A friend of mine from Atlanta met up with me at the hotel, and we had a great evening at Sway. The food was tasty and the drinks were great. Our waitress was also very attentive and made sure we were satisfied and content.
I stayed here for 5 days and it was easy to slip into life at Hyatt Regency Atlanta. I would recommend this hotel if you are going to Atlanta for business and even if you are visiting the city for pleasure. You get a good bang for your buck.

Looks are deceiving… Small room, if you plan to share full size bed with anyone be prepared to be squished and the bathrooms don’t fit two people in it either. Oh’ and let me not forget about the roaches.

Best customer service I have ever received at a hotel!
My husband and I were in Atlanta for the week of Christmas to visit family and we spent one night at the Hyatt to celebrate our 7^th anniversary. We booked a King room on the concierge level which included appetizers in the evening and continental breakfast in the morning. When we arrived to check-​in, they informed us that since the hotel was at such low capacity, they had closed the concierge level. However, in lieu of the appetizers and continental breakfast, they gave us a $ 25 hotel credit and two complimentary breakfast buffets at Sway – even better. Then they told us that they had upgraded us to a suite at no charge!
The suite was well decorated, clean and spacious. It had two balconies that you could walk out on and enjoy the view of downtown, which was great since temperatures were in the 70s during the week of Christmas. We took advantage of our resort credit at the Polaris (restaurant in the hotel that rotates 360 degrees), and had a wonderful time sipping champagne and sharing a charcuterie plate. Later in the night, we decided to order desserts and a couple of beers through room service, and when the items were brought to our room, they told us the room service was free of charge!
The complimentary breakfast at Sway was also wonderful – one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I’ve experienced. We loved the gorgeous elevators and the architecture of the hotel in general. I usually stay at Hiltons or Marriots, but thanks to this hotel, I may now be a Hyatt girl for life. If I’m ever back in the downtown Atlanta area, I will definitely choose the Hyatt for my stay.

I have never stayed in the Hyatt, but have frequented for conferences/​conventions. Lots of parking nearby — street, garages, open-​air lots. Some are fairly affordable, especially if you get downtown early enough. Close by Marta. Connected to the Mall at Peachtree Center. At the 2015 HIV Prevention Conference, staff were readily on hand to guide us to where we needed to go. This hotel can be a bit of a maze, especially when you get to the underbelly. There is the main building and other connected sections. Sometimes you have to go up, around, and down to get to the room you need. Though I have been many times, I had never seen some of the conference rooms there. One complaint: the stairs between the main floor and the one below need to be wider. The restaurant on the main level (Sway) is really good.

Gorgeous downtown ATL property located in the center of plenty attractions. No need to look far for restaurants as there are great options just in the lobby. Sway is a delicious option for breakfast/​brunch, there is a café for a quick grab & go as well as a snack bar stocked with small healthy eats and juices. There is a beautiful gift shop, lots of comfy seating throughout the lobby for web surfing, TV watching, working quietly or chatting.
The fitness center is amazing for hotel standards; all the equipment you need to get a good workout while traveling. Rooms are spacious, stocked with amenities and extremely comfortable. The linens are superb. Staff is just as amazing as the property itself. Valet is available for a nominal fee if walking isn’t your cup of tea or if you’re simply traveling outside the area. I highly recommend the Hyatt for lodging in the downtown vicinity.

My husband, two year old, and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for one night and I wish we would have been in town longer! From the check in to the check out, everyone was so gracious and accommodating.
Malik at the lobby bar was so sweet and brought out (unasked) sliced strawberries and blueberries for the toddler while the adults sipped local brews. Breakfast at Sway (in the lobby) was tasty, clean, and well attended. I personally loved the plates and bowls used there. Nadros was so sweet to my daughter and it was a fun breakfast experience for us both. We did the buffet and there was so much to choose from. charcuterie to oatmeal, bacon to fruit. And as far as service, if you’re lucky, you will get Mr. Felix as the bellman to help with luggage. He was great, and again, so sweet to the kiddo. When you travel a lot with your child, you start to really notice when people are paying attention and going above and beyond to try and help you.
The room was comfortable and on the 21^st floor, pretty quite. The bathroom (at least in this room) was a wee bit small for two adults to be in at the same time, but no major issues there. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows.
The hotel itself was very comfortable and clean but it was truly the staff that made the experience so enjoyable.

This review for the Hyatt Regency Atlanta is the fourth in a six-​part series covering the official host hotels and venues at Dragon Con. These reviews are written primarily from my perspective as a Dragon Con attendee as opposed to a regular hotel guest.
The Hyatt is part of the «Big Three» Dragon Con hotels: Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton. These three hotels are directly connected via tubeways, which is one reason why they are so popular and heavily trafficked.
The Hyatt is deceivingly big. The hotel consists of three towers: the main Atrium Tower, Radius Tower, and International Tower. Atop its 24-​story roof is Polaris, the UFO-​looking, rotating restaurant and lounge. This restaurant is not to be confused with the Westin’s Sundial Restaurant. Fun fact: The Hyatt, Westin, and Marriott were all designed by the same architect, John C. Portman, Jr.
In the Hyatt, Dragon Con exhibits and programming take place over four levels in each of the Atrium Tower and International Tower. The levels, from highest to lowest, are called:
Lobby Level — accessible via Peachtree St. and Marriott sky bridge
Ballroom Level — accessible via Peachtree Center Ave.

At the con, the Hyatt is probably best known for the Art Show & Print Shop located in Grand Hall West of the Atrium’s Exhibit Level and the Comics & Pop Artists Alley, located next door in Grand Hall East. Well over 200 artists annually attend to display and sell their art and meet with fans. While I’m not an artsy person, I always enjoy visiting the Artists Alley each year to see the unique and interesting art. In the past, famous cosplayers such as Riddle and Monika Lee have set up tables in the Artists Alley. (Conversely, Yaya Han has set up a table in the Dealers Room at AmericasMart.) Don Rosa, legendary illustrator of Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck, is a fixture at the Artists Alley. Chris Hamer, of Atlanta’s own Urbnpop, also has a table here.
Aside from the Art Show and Artists Alley, the Hyatt is also known for the following programming and fan tracks (as of 2014): Animation, Animé/​Manga, the Armory, Fantasy Literature, Filking (music), Independent Film Festival, Live Performances (Concerts), Reading Sessions, Sci-​Fi Literature, Silk Road: Asian Cinema & Culture, and Writer’s Track.
A lot of congoers overlook the International Tower and Atlanta Conference Center level. If entering the Hyatt from the main entrance facing Peachtree St, the International Tower is located directly to the right. The Atlanta Conference Center level is located at the very bottom of the hotel, one floor beneath the Art Show and Artists Alley.
While it’s no Marriott, or even Hilton, in terms of checking out and photographing cosplays, the Hyatt still has some decent cosplay areas. My favorite areas to people watch and take pictures of cosplays, particularly during daylight hours, are outside of the main entrance (the driveway/​waiting area is nice and big), inside the Atrium Lobby (good natural lighting), and even out on the patio of the Ballroom Level. This outdoor patio has stairs that lead down to Peachtree Center Ave. and a crosswalk to the Marriott Marquis. Due to its proximity to the Marriott, AmericasMart, and Peachtree Center, the Hyatt, as a whole, has many good cosplays to be seen during the convention.
Speaking of Peachtree Center, both the Hyatt and Marriott are connected directly to the Mall at Peachtree Center. To get to the Mall at Peachtree Center from the Hyatt, go to the Atrium Lobby. If facing the hotel’s check-​in counter, take the tunnel to the left of the counter. Peachtree Center is also connected to MARTA.
Finally, here’s a little «secret.» Hyatt rooms 223 and 226 are home to Dragon Con’s ConSuite. The ConSuite has snacks and cold non-​alcoholic beverages which are free to anyone with paid attendance to the convention. In the past, snacks have typically included sandwich bites, chips, cookies, cake, and packaged products like granola bars and peanuts. Beverages include ice water, lemonade, and fountain drinks. The rooms have limited seating (with tables) and TVs for relaxing and unwinding. It’s a nice little sanctuary when you want to get away from the con. Warning: It’s not uncommon for the ConSuite to get smelly. Thanks to fellow Unilocaler Christin K. for introducing me to the ConSuite in 2012!

Stayed here for a conference that took place on the bottom two levels. The conference rooms were spacious and not too cold, and staff were very friendly. But the hotel rooms are old. I was looking to plug in and cool down the fridge but there was a huge layer of dust caked on top of the fridge. The iron wasn’t hot enough to get the wrinkles out of my dress. The bathroom was the worst. The towels smelled like vinegar, the ceiling tiles exposed parts of the ceiling, and the tiles of the standing shower weren’t flat so water puddled leaving water in the shower until the next day.

I stayed here for business and their staff were great. They even provided me a free cold bottled water upon check-​in! Very nice indeed. Rooms were cozy and clean. Elevators had the clear glass so as you go up and down, you will get a nice view. One cool thing is that they are connected to the Marriott and other hotels so you don’t have to cross the street. You just take their ramp and viola… you’re there!

I was here for a conference for several days. Huggggge hotel and the staff is super sweet and helpful.
The interior is very outdated, in my opinion. Like a very concrety. I don’t know… compared to nearby hotels I have stayed at, this was my least favorite.
Clean rooms and great central location, but again… I like modern and this place seems like they attempted to update and failed.
I did really like the gym and the cucumber water. Mediocre restaurants.

I had seen countless pics of the hotel prior to arrival, but the wow factor of the lobby and the 22 stories rising up from it still made me stop in my tracks and look upwards.
My room was 2223 on the Regency Club level which is the 22^nd and top floor. Room 2223 is on the north side of the building which is opposite the lifts so you will have the longest walk to your room, but the best view in the hotel.
The room was very quiet and had a balcony. The bathroom had a nightlight which was a nice touch. There were plenty of outlets everywhere you would want one. The bathroom had a walk in shower which was very spacious and had good water pressure. The bathroom as a room though was small (e.g., sit on the toilet and can’t open the door small).
Regency Club (RC) Lounge:
Located on the 22^nd floor in the SW corners of the building the lounge is rather small, but gets rather busy. There is limited seating for single individuals — there were a lot of couches and group meeting type areas. On the weekends they have breakfast from 7 – 10 and evening apps from 5 – 8. The breakfast was your basic continental plus hot oatmeal. There were lots of toppings for the oatmeal/​cereal including soy milk. There was also one hot breakfast sandwich type option. The dinner apps were very creative. I loved the different types of salads and the hot item one night, lamb cigars, were great! Breakfast staff in the RC was friendly and attentive. Dinner staff was… not polished enough to be working the RC yet. It was already after 5pm when I approached the apps and she told me to wait a few more — seconds — before taking food.
The pool area is nice, but doesn’t see sun in the morning. There is no attendant, but towels were well stocked and a pop machine and restroom is also on the pool deck.
Location is great. The hotel is connected by an indoor walkway to the Peachtree Center Mall that has the MARTA in the basement. You can get from ATL for $ 2.50 on the MARTA. There is also a streetcar stop at Peachtree. The hotel is a few blocks walking distance from Centennial Park and many restaurants.
Everyone was friendly and all housekeeping staff in the halls always smiled and said hello and some even engaged in longer conversations.
Cons:
— no drinks/​snacks in the room aside from water
— not even 1 chair on the balcony; I suppose the desk chair could be wheeled out
— no signage at the pool offering the option to call for room service
— length of elevator ride time; the wait was actually rather short, but all elevators are the local ones — they should make 2 for floors 1 – 10 and 2 for floors 1 & 11 – 22.
— pool access requires you to walk through the Ballroom level; it’s a bit awkward walking through a convention of people in business suits while wearing flip flops and a swim suit.
— house keeping didn’t get to our room till 5pm. After visiting the pool in the afternoon I had to call for extra towels so I could take a second shower (they were delivered very fast though)

We came here for the Annual New Year Eve’s Party and it was pretty good. The party itself had many places to get a drink within the facility but the only vodka they offered was Smirnoff. For over $ 100 a ticket, you’d think they could offer a vodka of slightly better quality than Smirnoff right?! They had about 3 different dancing rooms to choose from based on the music of your choice. Each room had tons of balloons attached to the ceiling waiting to fall as soon as midnight strikes. They also had another room with live comedians performing stand up comedy. We definitely checked that out and the comedians were pretty good.
The food offered was just okay as well. It was buffet style but tasted mostly like Chinese takeout food. They had egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and other interesting dishes to choose from. think I expected a bit more than what they offered in both food selection and quality.
The hotel rooms, on the other hand, were great for the price. When you buy a ticket for the actual NYE party, you receive a discount on the room there as well. The rooms were pretty clean besides the used hand towel left behind the bathroom door (the room keeper must have not seen it). The showers and décor were very pretty and definitely what I expected in the downtown ATL area. I’m not sure if the NYE Party tickets were worth the $ 119 spent but we had a good time.
