Specialties
Dr. Hunt conducts comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for assessment of learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, emotional and behavioral disorders. These evaluations provide an overall view of a student’s learning and behavioral profile for educational planning and decision-making, and are often used to apply for testing and classroom accommodations in elementary and secondary school, college and in graduate school.
Dr. Hunt’s therapy focus is with young people. She recognizes that difficult times are a normal part of life and wishes to improve the capacity to manage during these times, as well as build skills that can be used throughout life. She has a keen interest in mindfulness-based practices in therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and positive psychology, and draws upon neuroscience to help clients understand and strengthen the connection between mind and body. She enjoys empowering young people to develop skills that reduce anxiety and depressed thinking, increase capacity for focused attention, and improve emotional and behavioral regulation skills. Dr. Hunt has completed yoga teacher training and maintains a personal mindfulness practice.
With 18 years of experience working with children, teens and parents and training as a school psychologist, Dr. Hunt understands the value of collaborative relationships in promoting student success. She has experience in school intervention and Special Education programs.
