Havoline Express Lube

I should have paid more attention to reviews before visiting this place. They completely screwed me over. I went in for a cheap/​normal oil change and left spending $ 140 because they flat out told me my car would not run properly without synthetic oil — which was a total lie. I was also not told that it would cost any different than a normal oil change. Boy was I surprised when they rang up my total. DO NOT GO HERE, they will try to take advantage of you. I was completely taken. I feel like a sucker and I will NEVER take my car near a Havoline Express Lube again. I want my money back.

This place is a joke. Don’t go here. I went in to get a simple oil change. According to them I needed a transmission flush, radiator flush, rear end work, air filter and wipers. I ask why the dealer I have been taking my truck to since new never mentioned any of that? They said dealers are sometimes in a hurry cause they have to look at so many vehicles per hour and they over look things. Lol. That’s funny. The oil change guy said he would be afraid to drive my 2012 model truck with 49 000 miles out of the parking lot since It was in such dire need of maintenance. I heard them putting the sales pitch on others too. That is why I like taking my vehicles to the dealership, they don’t put on the heavy BS sales spill. I usually pay $ 65 at dealer for full service which includes tire rotation, vacuum and basic car wash. They charged $ 69 for just oil change. So why did I go there? Because I was off work on Saturday and dealer was closed. Never again. !

Had an oil change and an engine flush on December 22, car start smoking December 23. Will be taking it back today. So inconvenient.

I stopped in on a Sunday to get a plug for my minivan tire. The team was highly competent, professional and quick. Cost was minimal. They also fixed one of my wiper blades for free. This was a very positive experience.

Stopped by to get air in my tires today when I was in a huge rush. I explained that the gas station only took quarters and I didn’t have time to get change. They gladly took me in right away and had me off in 30 seconds. No charge. I wish I had more cash to tip these wonderful people! Thank you and I’ll be back for my car’s next needs!

I’m a very consistent dude so I cannot tell you how upset I was when my wife told me she took the car to get an oil change at Havoline because they have some sort of Woman Wednesday discount or some stupid shit like that. I go to ONE guy for my oil changes. Why? Because he does it right every single time. Changing oil is not rocket science but there are so many idiots out there that find a way to screw it up. One such group of idiots are at Havoline. I feel fine calling them idiots since WSB-​TV did that expose showing how every single Havoline location in Atlanta rips people off. But I digress.
How’d they screw up the oil change you ask? By not putting the plug back in properly it leaked oil for days. I finally found the time to take the car back to them (since my wife refused to go back there) and they fixed the problem… I think.
I think I’ll stick with my ONE guy.

I would rate them lower than 1 star if allowed so 1 star will have to do.
I received an oil change in June from this location and due to faulty workmanship (someone forgot to put the cap on the oil filter) my car has leaked a large amount of oil. I don’t live on this side of town so I it wasn’t convenient for me to return without knowing I could get my issue fixed. As a woman I didn’t feel confident they would handle the situation either. I went to the Meineke on Roswell Rd (my side of town) and the technician was very helpful and even called Havoline on my behalf, only to be hung up on by the manager.
Which leads me to why I am posting this.
Chris Humphries is the manager at this location and he is very rude, unprofessional and a sexist. Because Chris was very unhelpful over the phone, I had Meineke repair my car. I would like to state that I was told my engine almost locked up to Havoline’s negligence.
After Meineke fixed by car I returned to Havoline before they closed to receive reimbursement for the extra expenses due to their negligence. Chris seemed as if he didn’t want to be bothered and was not helpful at all. When I was explaining my situation to him he told me I need to shut up and asked if I normally talked to men in that manner. I was taken back because no one had ever spoken to me like that, especially not a manager of a store I was patronizing. To say the least the matter escalated and I was furious. Because Chris did not want to provide help me and asked me to leave his store, I asked for his manager’s information, Corporate’s information or the Owner — someone that would help and he stated repeatedly «I’m not at liberty to give this information». I called another store and the manager advised me that they would have the district manager call me and he did. Phil Mendell, contacted me and he wasn’t really any better. He stated that it was my fault because I drove the car over 1000 and because of that the expense was not covered. I was adamant that my issue be resolved and none of the managers wanted to resolve it. Finally, after arguing with the district manager he agreed to refund me for the part cost but not because they were negligent, so that I could leave his store (his words not mine). In short, Havoline is not a place I would recommend. I must add that the employees (they were kind) in the shop stayed out of the matter but did elude that the unprofessionalism and rudenesss is common with Chris Humphries, the store manager.
Please read the «note recommended reviews» it seems someone is not recommending the negative reviews so that the unprofessionalism of this location is not common knowledge.

Don’t ever never go to this place.
This is a bunch of layers they don’t know what they doing.

this did a serious damage to my car and when i tried to talk to management no body was available
till now im waiting for a call from them.

Can’t tell you how many reasons to not partonize this business… but I will try:
The manager Chris is totally unprofessional.
1) He started work before the price was agreed upon.
2) He refused to honor a previously agreed upon discount with the assistant manager
3) Held me hostage in that he had drained the oil, and could not /​would not put the drained oil back in.
4) Extorted payment in that I had no way to move the car from his facility without puting his oil in.
I had traveled across town to get the oil changed on a vehicle used for transporting indigent clients and food to shut ins for Fountain of Hope a community pantry and foodbank in Bankhead. I had the oil changed there once before and was given a Fleet VIP card by their assistant manager Donna. In that she is the only certified technician at the facility and the assistant manager and had been so nice on our previous visit, I wanted to patronize this facility again even though Precision Lube offers an oil change for $ 17.90.
I explained to Chris that we are a non profit that is a community pantry that feeds the inner city poor… to no avail. «I am the manager and my word is what goes.» He would not honor the VIP Fleet discount. He would not release the vehicle without completing the oil change thereby extorting his payment of $ 30.18. He lost us as a customer. And I will tell ten people and they will tell ten people… way to build a business.
