I was referred to Gizzelle from Suite Bridal in the Highlands, where I got my wedding gown, and they told me this was THE place for in town alternations. Well, they were correct. Gizzelle did an amazing job tailoring my gown to make it look like it was designed for me. She was extremely helpful and patient in answering all my questions and providing her expert opinion when needed. She is very detail oriented and wouldn’t let me leave until the gown was perfect. Highly recommend!

I was send here by the bridal boutique where I got my dress. I absolutely love working with Giselle! My wedding dress turned out amazing! She takes her time and makes sure you are comfortable every step of the way! Her staff is friendly and awesome!!! She even help me with my head piece because I had no idea how it works. This lady knows what she is talking about. Ill be forever grateful.

Y’all, Gizzelle saved my life. Okay — not my life, my wedding, which is basically my life. I stupidly let the folks at Bridals by Lori, where I bought my dress, do the alterations. BIG mistake. They charged me $ 400 and did nothing. literally nothing. And then they LIED to me about the work they had done. Then, when I insisted they just give me my dress back so I could go elsewhere (two weeks before the wedding), they told me that their seamstress had taken my dress home and they couldn’t get it back. Disaster.
LUCKILY, I met with Gizzelle. Before I had even had my dress back (curse you BBL!), Gizzelle agreed to pencil off two days in the next 10 to fix my dress. I literally picked my dress up from her on my way to the wedding destination. Every issue I had expressed regarding the fit at BBL, Gizzelle addressed. I am so angry that BBL was okay letting me walk down the aisle with a dress that fit me like it did. Shame on them. And thank GOD for Gizzelle. She basically reconstructed my dress in a week. Amazing. When it comes to your wedding dress, or any clothes that really matter, I HIGHLY recommend coming here.

This lady right here is simply AMAZING!!! She was able to turn a wedding gown that was about 4 sizes to big into a work of art! I am so happy with the results and can’t wait to wear it on my big day!!!

If you have really nice clothes that you need altered and really don’t want to take chances, check out this place. It says a lot that a lot of anxious brides trust the experts here with their gowns. I had a really nice dress with a lace hem that couldn’t just be hemmed from the bottom, so I decided to visit Gizzelle James Couturiere (rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it?).
This place is one of those house-​turned-​retail buildings on Juniper. There is a private lot next door with ample parking. Pass the salon on the first floor, walk up the stairs and make a hairpin turn. The shop is in the far right corner.
I went without an appointment, and I found that the door was locked. I knocked on the door, and saw that they were taking up most of the space for a bridal appointment. Luckily, I was able to change in the bathroom, get pinned quickly and head back out. Next time, I think I would make an appointment.
I don’t think Gizzelle herself was there — there were two other very pleasant ladies there who helped me. The turnaround was about a week. I think I could have had it done sooner, but I was not in a hurry. It definitely was a pricey alternation, but the lace was sewn back together by hand, and the finished product was perfect. The ladies waited until I tried it on at pickup time to cut off the excess fabric. All in all, very pleased. Glad I trusted them with my dress!

the entire experience was awesome! i am a single father, who works hard to provide the best for my daughter! it was her junior prom we found a great dress online, by the time the dress got to us my daughter had lost weight & the dress needed some professional expert adjustments that i knew nothing about! i looked online and after reading reviews we decided to try gizzelle james counturier! this was one of the best decisions ever! my daughter was an absolute bombshell at the prom and no one there looked like her or had a dress like her! thank you so much from both of us & the entire family! we will be lifelong customers! we ‘ve already picked out a dress for her senior prom, and of course will be using gizzelle james & staff again!

Gizelle is a miracle worker. I brought my wedding dress here to get altered, thinking there was no way to bring it in because of the complicated draping and the corset construction. Giselle and her assistant Diana made me feel right at home. She shared my vision for my dress, and knew exactly what need to be done. I had several more fittings and at the end, I was beyond happy with the results. My dress turned out glorious, and it took that burden off me to enjoy my big day. I also brought in some other normal pieces of clothing here as well, and have been very satisfied with the results. She even squeezes me in when I needed a rush job. I love that she’s a perfectionist and will address every single detail to make sure it’s what you want.
Gizelle also does custom designs, so if you have a dress or idea that you want to turn into a dream piece of clothing, she can make it come true!
Her services do not come cheap, but if you want it done right, Gizelle is your girl. She will give you a flat rate that includes most changes, so you’re not paying each time to come in for a fitting. Plus she’s got an amazing personality and her team is so warm and accommodating.

The owner was pleasant to speak with. The store was a tiny tiny place. Once I was told to use the bathroom as the fitting room. Her job is not bad, but is way overly-​priced for the quality of the work. Her quote is at least 30−40% higher than the most expensive tailor I could find in Buckhead, yet the result was not quite impressive. I spent $ 200 on alterations of a $ 600 suit and eventually walked away with several problems not addressed to my satisfaction.

Very pricey. But she does a great job. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Took my dress down from size 6 to 2 for my rehearsal dinner. Looked great. A little tight in the armpits — but the rest looked good

I was referred to Gizzelle from a number of people, including those on Unilocal.
I’m not normally the type of person to write a bad review, but I can’t in good conscience recommend that people do business with this establishment. In fact, I feel compelled to warn you about this business.
I came to Gizzelle to get two suits tailored, and prepaid for them to be altered for $ 400, which comes to an expensive $ 200 per suit. That said I was fine paying it, because she did come highly recommend from people I know. I paid up front, to pick up two weeks later.
I come back to pick up my suits, and I’m told «we forgot to charge you» for one of the suits. I am now forced to pay another $ 450 to pick up my two suits. That is exceeds the value of the most expensive suit! I haven’t felt hustled in a long time, but I felt exploited.
Although her work is of above average quality, but how can you trust someone who does business this way? If I had something really important like a wedding dress to be altered, is this how you would want to be treated? Looks like I’m not alone in seeing this side of the business. Read the other negative reviews on here closely.
There are plenty of other Tailors in Atlanta who will do good work, at a reasonable price, with honesty and integrity. This just isn’t one of those places.

This girl is awesome. When I moved to midtown a few years ago I was still sending things to my favorite tailor near my parent’s place in South Florida. I decided it was time to find one in town and discovered Gizzelle on Unilocal.She is really fantastic. I first treaded lightly, bringing her first a few simple pants and dresses that needed hemming. She had fast turnover and reasonable prices. I then took a big jump and brought her a beautiful designer dress that was a wrapping style; it was very loose around the chest area and looked a little sloppy. She immediately knew what to with the dress, and seemed to understand what I wanted. I was really nervous about removing material from this very expensive dress, but I came back in two weeks, and it looks absolutely fabulous. I really can’t say enough good things about her.
Her business can be busy and I usually call ahead of time, but if you just walk in I’ve always been able to be seen, especially for something simple like a hemming.

I brought a dress to Gizzelle awhile back for some last minute wedding alterations; the thing fit me like a sack when I brought it in but in just about a week’s time I got it back and it fit perfectly and looked great! Easily the best looking dress in my entire closet.
I was especially surprised by how quickly the alterations were done. I would definitely recommend bringing your clothes here if you need ‘em fixed up.

Gizzelle really knows what she’s doing. I brought her a trench coat from Banana Republic that had me looking worse than Inspector Gadget. Gizzelle fixed up the arms to make me look like a human being and now I get compliments on the coat all the time! I’ve also had her fix up a coat and several pairs of pants.
Her shop is tucked into a corner of a house. It’s best to make an appointment because there is not really a place to wait except in the hallway. Other reviewers are correct that her services do not come cheap so find Gizzelle when your alterations are really going to matter or if you can’t allow someone else to get it wrong.

After a horrible experience with another tailor I ran to Gizzelle in tears hoping that my dress could somehow be saved 2 weeks before my wedding day. And her and her staff did not disappoint. They went above and beyond and had my dress ready in time and it turned out beautiful! They truly helped saved my big day and put me at ease. I will be a costumer for life and will refer everyone I know to come here for alterations!

Every so often, a service comes around that is truly exceptional — a service that leaves you embarrassed that you ever gave five stars to anything less. Gizzelle James Couturiere is such a service.
I had a suit that was absolutely unwearable. I had purchased it from a made-​to-​measure internet store which apparently got the measurements completely off. The crotch was so tight I looked like Ricky Martin. The shoulders on the suit ended about an inch and a half after my shoulders did. Meanwhile, the waste curved inward, giving the suit an oddly feminine look. The whole thing gave the distinct impression that I had somehow stolen it from a female linebacker. I took it to Gizzelle, and within 3 days I had what is now the sharpest suit in my wardrobe.
The entire alteration took three days to complete. I made an appointment for a Monday, telling Gizzelle that I was leaving for New York that Thursday. Two fittings later, I picked the suit up Wednesday evening. Gizzelle made it happen.
The one thing to know is that Gizzelle’s work does not come cheap. In fact, it’s extremely expensive, costing as much as the original suit. But the quality of workmanship is fantastic, well worth the expense. If you need pants hemmed, take them to the cleaners. If you need a suit transformed, take it to Gizzelle.

Gizzelle is great! I dropped off my suits a week before I was going out of town for work and was supposed to pick them up on Friday. Completely forgot until Saturday night. She’s closed on Sunday and Monday and I was leaving Tuesday morning at 7 am.
I went into panic mode, left her shop a voicemail, emailed her, tried to look her up on Facebook… basically acted like a maniacal ex-​gf. She called me back on Sunday morning and met me at her shop on Monday just so I could pick it up. 5 stars for awesome client service.
Oh, and the suits look great and fit like a glove. Pricey but worth it!

Feeling like my experience was a little bit mixed, this was my first time ever having something professionally altered (ignoring pant hemming at the store or dry cleaners).
The shop is small and (with appointment) you get time and attention. Having some free parking in the lot next door removes the apprehension of trying a place in the heart of Midtown.
Initially tried to go in during the day on May 9^th but, as mentioned, the walk-​in isn’t really advised as they were busy with someone already. They asked me to come back and made an appointment for me. I was fine with that because I can understand how someone would want full attention for this sort of thing.
During my appointment on the 10^th while I was changing into my suit to show what I wanted changed someone else walked in, but they decided to juggle us both instead of asking her to make an appointment too like I was asked. I only brought a couple suits to be altered so it wasn’t too much a hassle but I did stand and wait behind the curtain a couple times for the other customer to leave the small space to change herself. That didn’t help my feeling that they weren’t so much interested in my business.
Gizzelle seemed to get how I wanted the suit adjusted to adjust for my not hitting the gym enough lately and growing too tight on the waist. She offered her suggestions which seemed fine. Honestly, I was a little nervous and embarrassed about the whole process since it was my first time and the suits weren’t exactly fancy. I was somewhat offput by how many times she felt she had to tell me she worked on (real) designer clothes and how this would be no problem. I had no clue who any of designers she was talking about were and after the third time (in just a 20 minute sitting) of her trying to impress me with no avail she said, «well, I don’t only work with high end. I’ve also worked with everything down to even (some other designer I’ve never heard of)» Apparently I’m even less fashionable than I thought.
I was going to be out of town the next couple of weeks so we scheduled for a pickup on the 29^th. She seemed happy that it wasn’t going to be a rush job. But on the 25^th I got a call asking if I could come in after 3pm on the 30^th instead, which I did. Coming in on the 30^th, still no suit. Nor any phone call that it wasn’t going to be ready in time and not to come by. Now I should come back the 31^st. Picked up the suit then, but they don’t have my second suit ready. They offer to delivery it but I’m already on a packed schedule for a trip that I won’t be able to take my suit on now because they prioritized around me. And that suit I picked up on the 31^st? Still had to return it to be corrected.
I don’t know, maybe this is normal for someplace like this but if I’m paying $ 180 for two suits to be altered, I don’t like feeling like I’m the lowest priority that can be bumped for every bride that walks in the door. I generally got the idea that my business was something that could be put off.

To all the guys out there:
(While we’re at it, a guy’s girlfriend or wife should listen too). This is not only an endorsement from an extremely satisfied male customer, but also a call to all the men out there who are settling for not looking their best when Gizzelle’s talent and value can be found so easily at her highly accessible midtown studio.
The value:
Want a tailored-​looking sport or suit jacket without paying crazy prices? Guys, you can find blazers and sport jackets at vintage clothing stores (e.g., Lucky Exchange, Stefan’s, etc.) for $ 25 dollars that are timeless and even better than what you can find at Macy’s or Urban Outfitters. Just make sure the jacket fits well in the shoulders and chest. Take the jacket to Gizzelle to have her take in the waist of the jacket (somewhere between $ 40 and $ 55 dollars from my experience) to fit your exact body type.
Come back a week later or so, and you will discover the immense pleasure in owing a custom tailored piece. Not only is it something you found that is unique and classic, but it will fit you properly and set you apart from the rest of the guys out there. What’s best: you will have only paid something like $ 80 total when a similar, one-​of-​a-​kind piece could cost you $ 300 or more elsewhere.
The talent:
It doesn’t take much driving around in Atlanta to notice that there are tons of dry cleaners who offer alterations services as well. One could think that such clothing services would be sufficient because they might superficially take care of what you need (i.e., hem those pants exactly where you asked them to) however there is more to the story.
Utilizing the talent of Gizzelle James will set you apart from those who use basic alterations services at a dry cleaners. At Gizzelle’s, you receive the most accurate and up-​to-​date stylistic advice on where your trousers’ hem should be placed based on fabric, occasion for wear, and your preference of shoe. How trousers break at the shoe (assuming any break is advisable) can make those suit pants, golf slacks or favorite jeans look perfect. Based on my experience, her knack for stylistic advice extends to the rest of a man’s clothing ensemble as well.
As a disclaimer, there may be some of you who are worried about yielding some control over your sense of style. However, one of the main things I like about Gizzelle is her ability to help guide if you want her help and advice, yet she has shown me that her priority is making me look better, not making me somebody I am not.
The accessibility:
Did I mention the abundant, free parking just 25 feet from her door? I absolutely love the fact that I can make it in and out of her studio within minutes.
The bad:
If I had to say anything bad about Gizzelle’s studio, I would say that her increased popularity means it is advisable to make an appointment instead of relying solely on walking in. She will most certainly take care of you to whatever extent she can even if she is doing a fitting for someone else, but I have found it helpful to call ahead whenever possible.
The bottom-​line:
As a guy, I couldn’t be happier with the results, prices and overall levels of service. If you are still settling for less-​than-​optimal fittings, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of Gizzelle James’s talents.
