It’s been a while since I last advertised for GT baseball on Unilocal(other than the weekly TGIF thread), so I thought I’d let all you fine folks know about some of the things that have changed. You can now park in the deck across the street for $ 5. However, if you head just a little further west on Ferst(which is what 5th street becomes as you pass the baseball stadium), and turn left at the 4-way stop, and turn left again into the parking lot, it’s prepay by the hour. Since there are new bats in college baseball that cut the game times down to 2:30 or so, you only need 3 hours on your spot. If you catch a foul ball in the stadium(don’t let your kids go chasing after it outside the stadium for liability purposes), then you can exchange it at the concession stand for an item up to $ 4 in value. Honestly, there aren’t many items at the concession stand that will run you more than $ 4. I recommend the hot dog. You can register at the 3rd base entry gate for various promotions: the«What’s in the Box?» game that lets you choose between a Dantana’s gift card and whatever is in the box(usually some kind of Tech memorabilia); the dizzy bat race, which is fun for all ages, but primarily for kids between 8 – 12 or so; the roll for rubber, which is for the strong members of your party, who see how far they can toss/roll a tire down the 3rd base line, with the winner(of the whole season) getting a set of 4 new tires. My favorite is Friday night 90’s. It used to be Friday night 80’s(and I’m told that in the 90’s it was Friday night 70’s, so apparently they always use music from 20 years earlier. You right down the artist and song at the end of each of the first 6 innings, and all correct entries are put in a hat for a drawing for a $ 25 gift card to Rocky Mountain. They seem to use the same CD’s over and over again, so if you go more than once, there’s a chance that you’ll know at least the artist. #Yelp365 — 87⁄365

Place rating: 5 Atlanta, GA
This is a fabulous place to watch baseball. There is no other place in town where you will sit this close to good baseball for such a low price. Georgia Tech has a consistently great team and some excellent ACC opponents so you are going to see some good baseball action here. Day games are great, particularly early in the season before Atlanta really heats up, but I love night games, too, because you have a lovely view of the Atlanta skyline from inside the park. Parking can sometimes be a challenge but if you don’t mind a little walk, you’ll be fine. The concessions are definitely inexpensive in relation to other Atlanta venues, although they are a bit limited(if you are very crafty, you can bring your own«snacks» in but be stealthy about it). You can tailgate, too! But, the real draw here is, of course, the baseball.
