Gap

The store feels tight to me and not spacious. I feel like I have entered a narrow pathway and it’s caving in on me. Maybe it’s just me though.
They do have lots of clothes displayed well in comparison to other locations I have been to. Their sales rack is usually located everywhere around the store– not all in one location. This specific location could use a better layout, but it’s tough since it’s located at Lenox Mall — a busy place with many thru-​traffic.
Staff/​service-​wise is fair. I’ll put it at that. It just depends on who you encounter working that day. Not everyone likes their retail job.

So, I have been to the GAP in Lenox Mall now twice in just a few months. worth reviewing b/​c both events I found myself blown away by the customer service.
1^st– looking for a new pair of jeans, with 2 kids in tow and 20 mins to spare. Sales guy walked right up to me, discussed my sizes, rounded up the 8 pairs that I would need to try on, plus a couple of other (smaller) sizes I assumed to make me feel good about myself. Well, it worked. I walked right into the dressing room, tried on the smaller sizes first (to get it out of the way), found that they fit, got final approval from the 4 yr old and we marched right out. Success!
2) Holiday shopping. I walked in looking for ideas for a shirt or something for my husband and was told that I had 2 hours to enjoy 50% off in the store. Now, who does not feel good about that. I did find my husband a pretty decent shirt, but I ended up buying about $ 200 worth of clothes that I otherwise would not have spent… updated the work closet. Well done Gap — that’s how you drive incremental sales. More importantly though, as I wandered around with the weight of my potentials on one arm, a lovely gentlemen scooped them up and set them up in a dressing room and told me to just go look for my name on the door when i was done browsing. This is definitely a new thing as far as i can remember. I then had a lovely girl chase down a couple of other sizes while i was trying things on. Typical for most shops, but she was Super helpful and fast. About an hour later, as I walked out, the original, helpful sales guy asked me by name if i found the trousers I needed. nice touch
I don’t care what anyone says, Gap is reliable and has decent quality clothes when you need those handy little somethings that are blue, brown, black or white. I am just saying that the customer service has jumped up a lot.

Though the store layout wouldn’t make you think so, at least not on the men’s section, this place is pretty huge. It feels a bit narow upon entering, and there’s a lot of display tables, which are great for when you want to grab stuff on your way through the store, but TERRIBLE when this place has the entire store on sale and there’s no understanding of bi-​directionality of traffic.
One thing I do like is that they have a huge amount of fitting rooms, which helps to accommodate the heavy flow of traffic on sale days.

I expected to go in and browse around the sale racks on my own, but was greeted by a very helpful employee right as I walked in the door. I was shocked! :) I described the jacket I was looking for (like a gray green, crinkley thing) and she went straight to the rack, grabbed a couple of sizes and walked over to the mirror with me, helped me decide which size looked best. Then she walked it to the counter to save it for me while I continued shopping.
The cashier was really friendly too, complimenting me on the jacket and smiling.
The store was super organized and well laid out. Great improvements!

Maybe I’m slightly biased (I worked at Gap back home in college for 5 years) but the customer service at this location is HORRIBLE. I’m sure the powers at be at corporate would be shocked to hear.
This place was recently remodeled to more current with the times, and I must admit, this location was definitely more nice than the one back home. The selection is better than at Atlantic Station, but the customer service bites the big one.
I went here looking to buy my first pair of Indy inspired, skinny straight fit jeans we all wore back in the day in the 80’s. When I didn’t find them, I asked the sales person where I could, he told me «I don’t know» and walked away and went to join the rest of the crew behind the counter in a conversation.
The last time I checked, this was a customer no-​no. I always thought that it was the polite thing for a salesperson to exhaust all of his/​her search methods to hunt down that certain item.
Whenever I’m in Lenox Mall, I stop at Gap to browse the merchandise, and of course there isn’t a salesperson in sight. As a result, I just buy all the stuff I see at Lenox from the Atlantic Station locale (they’re a lot more friendly there).
