$ 1 fish tacos + $ 1 pints(usually PBR) + awesome patio = great Sunday evening… rumor they are closing… hope that isn’t true!!!

Mason B., you’re right — that WAS your last time here. We’ve been showing up on Monday nights for their half-price dinners, but tonight we were met by the general manager. He told us that he’d been informed this morning that the place is permanently closed. I’ll miss y’all!

I can’t really say too much as I’ve only been here for brunch, BUT this is my staple budget-brunch place. $ 1 fish tacos and $ 1PBR pints. Can’t beat that. I have never managed to spend more than $ 10 if I TRY, and the wait staff is never rude. If you think it smells like smoke inside, sit on the patio. This is a great place to bring a bunch of friends to recover after a night of partying. Especially if you are on a college budget. Be sure to bring money for the juke box, too!

Visited the Fox the other day for the $ 2 burger Tuesdays and it was made to order and good with large crowd for trivia that started at 7−8pmish. not sure. Anyway talked to the server and they are smoke free inside now for a few months so we will be back.

Stopped in here tonight and immediately thought the place looked an awful lot like hand in hand in the highlands. Once we got inside and saw the menu, yep this is the exact same place with the exact same menu. The service was good and the girl was very quick and friendly. Remembering that I liked the hot wings from Hand in Hand I ordered them here too and they didn’t dissapoint. I really like their sauce here. The white bean soup just seemed like a cup of heavy cream with some bacon mixed in and I couldn’t finish it, it was too rich I didn’t think it was that great. We also got the spinach salad but it was swimming in oil and vinegar so it wasn’t the best. They have alot of drink and food special here so check it out if you haven’t been. Besides the wings, I cant see much bringing me back here.

My friends and I went to the Fox and Hound on Tuesday for a bite… we should have kept on driving. First something positive. It was not smoky at all. After reading some of the reviews I thought I was going to leave smelling like an ashtray. But I didn’t even see anyone smoking. The food is ok… Tuesdays they have $ 2.00 burgers they are pretty good nothing fancy.(my friend had the burgers). I had the fish and chips they were good. I got a nice pile of fries and a big piece of fish. We also got an order of the Tabasco Pecans. We enjoyed them and they give you a nice size portion. Now for the bad… the service is some of the worse service I have gotten in a long time and I go out to eat a lot. Our waitress was always missing, she kept forgetting to refill our glasses, ask if we needed anything, and we waited almost 20 min for out second round of beer with empty glasses all over the table. To top it all off my two friends both ordered burgers and fries. Both burgers came out but only one had fries. By boyfriend let the waitress know that he had also ordered fires too. And the waitress asked if they could just SHARE her fries. I just started laughing. We finished our meals and had to go find the waitress to bring us our bill. I have been in the service/customer service industry for over 15 years. I understand servers sometimes get in the weeds… that was not the case here. And I am not a high maintainance person but when you go to a pub and it takes you over two hours to get in and out… it’s a problem.

They have this criss cross fry thing that’s topped with bleu cheese and there’s nothing about it that says«I’m good for you» — but it’s pretty damn good. Beer’s affordable and there’s a lot of space. someone’s always using the pool table and the bathrooms are clean. The one thing that bugs me about F&H is that this is a «smoking indoors OK» bar. You walk out smelling like an ashtray — not cool.

Fox and Hound is located in southern Buckhead north of Midtown. It has been a popular spot for many years and brings in regulars and newbies alike. Getting there via automobile and parking can be a pain, so either carpool or cab-it. The décor and atmosphere is one of a regular pub with an abundance of seating for all types of parties. The traditional wood and dark themes exude«pub». Plus there are TV’s to catch your favorite game. The menu consists of your typical Irish fare — burgers, wings, some Irish dishes and appetizers. The menu can be limiting. I recommend the cheeseburger and blue cheese chips. The burger was grilled to order and was large(8oz), with a fresh bun and toppings. I give it above average. The blue-cheese chips are addictive and appear to be home-made and of decent quality. The service was friendly but not terribly over and beyond the call of duty. All in all, it is a decent spot if you are looking for a spot to play darts and pool; plus have a brew or two coupled with some food. I gave this place a 2-stars because of its challenging location and limited menu — pricing.

Fox and Clowns is a joke. Very smoky, usually empty, and drinks are significantly overpriced for the area. Their draft beer and liquor prices are on the same level as Fado and Churchill’s without any of the discernable benefits of those places, such as people, fun, atmosphere, or any of those other things that someone might look for in a bar to hang out in. Its no wonder that Mr. C’s right up the street puts the Fox and Clowns to shame even though it is at least as big of a dump as the Fox, probably a bigger one. Despite that, drinks are much cheaper, food is as good and cheaper, and it has an atmosphere, so it is a much better option in that area.

Fox and Hounds is decent for what it is — a neighborhood bar. Beer selection is mediocre. Liquor drinks are well made and reasonably priced. The bartenders are good at their job and very attentive. Most of the waiters are great. Pool, darts, golden tee, and internet juke give you something to do while you’re not socializing with the other alcoholics that frequent this place. Avoid Keith, the blond-headed spritely fellow with ADHD. He is the worst waiter I’ve ever had in my life. He doesn’t write anything down, always screws something up, makes the dumbest jokes(there is no information that I need relayed to me «in the immortal words of Dane Cook» while I’m eating), and he hasn’t filled his Ritalin prescription long enough to learn to work the cash register. It’s not that difficult to split a check on a Micros register. Every other waiter I’ve had at F&H has been capable of that simple feat. The combination of Keith waiting and $ 2 burger night requires a three hour commitment.

The $ 2 burger deal that we got last night was pretty good — the pub standard burger without sides… and the Bloody Mary was great. However, we experienced the worst service ever. Our server was incredibly rude to us from the time we sat down at the table to the time she gave us the check. Be wary of servers with shoulder length curly hair and dismal demeanors. Fox & Hounds, I’m sorry, but you’ve lost a customer.

I took my wife last night for $ 2 burgers and got horrible service. I typically just come here for the poker nights, where service is rarely an issue. The food is decent, and they have a nice selection of good beers(if you need a good laugh, read the reviews for F&H on Citysearch and find the review from the guy absolutely furious that they don’t sell bud light in bottles here) I love that this place is close to my house, they have poker and trivia, nice pool tables and a good-sized patio area. I’m giving three stars now though… the beer and food is a little more expensive than it really ought to be, though they do have specials throughout the week. Service can be spotty and parking is dangerous on Collier Drive.

Fox and Hound was fun! The English Pub atmosphere has been done several times and mostly by the same company that happens to own F&H. We came on Monday for half priced food night. Can’t beat the deal when you’re as hungry as I was. Two meals for the price of one??? What recession are you talking about?! Nothing all that special though… I heard it gets busy later in the week. Inside is dark oaky and pubby with pool tables, dart boards and TVs. Great place to chill out, have some drinks and forget about your long day at work. I do have to say that I could totally see this place as somewhere where I’d have to pop my collar or bring my frat paddle This environment screams fraternity hang out! The outside seating was great. Plenty of large tables on the patio. The food was pretty good. I recommend trying the Trio of Sliders. Pimento!!! Mmmmmmmm…

Living in the area, I drive by the bar frequently. Like many other reviews have already pointed out, the parking sucks! Carpool! Carpool! Carpool! Be prepared to park on the high traffic street and don’t keep any valuables visible inside your car. Broken out windows occurs at times. This neighborhood is going through a regeneration. More and more affluent homes, neighborhoods, and shopping complexes are being build. The location is convenient to I-75, but be aware that Howell Mill Rd is undergoing a 2 year long construction project to widen the road. Traffic in the area is a nightmare! The bar is overly popular with the local and therefore is frequently crowded, especially on Thurs evenings. The food is good and priced well for the area.(Note: there are no vegetarian entrees on their menu, only a hummus appetizer. So if you are veg. and your friends invite you out, eat ahead of time and come only for the drinks!) Patrons can enjoy the numerous TVs, pool tables, and dart boards for entertainment. There are tables inside as well as an outside patio. This is a great place for friends to gather at their favorite watering hole just be prepared for the crowds, the smoke, the loud noise and no parking.

Similar setting to Hand & Hand, «British style pub» with great outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The beer is too expensive and about a year ago they fired everyone I liked that worked there. Now the bartenders are fairly unfriendly. We often use the pool tables and darts, and they have some flat screen TV’s(which get stolen about once a year) good for sporting events. They may still have trivia on Tuesdays. The food is actually pretty good, though I recommend going on Monday’s when it’s all half price — this helps offset your huge booze tab. The menu changes a bit every few months but there are some staples — the hot wings are decent, the rocket salad is good, blue cheese fries are a guilty pleasure, hummus is OK, hamburger is pretty good, etc. I haven’t had any of the full blown entrees really, mostly just the«bar food». I’m only giving this four stars because this is one of our neighborhood jaunts. Otherwise I would go 3.

Nice trivia on Tuesday nights. Pretty laid back and it has a very homey atmosphere. Drinks are priced alright and the company is pretty interesting and drunk. If I was closer by I would frequent here more often but it is usually only ever now and then. Plenty of activities: darts, pool, video games.

Tucked away off howell mill and collier, this little joy can be found. I loved that there weren’t millions of people. You could actually sit and enjoy your friends company, and hear what they were saying! They have darts and pool tables, and a fun golf video game in the corner for you gaming junkies. The staff was super friendly, and the wings were alright. It was raining when I went but the patio was pretty nice too.

Faux English pubs still have a great following, as does the imagined majesty of foxhunting(though now illegal in the UK). In the 30 or so major metropolitan areas I have visited in the United States — over half of them have at least one pub named Fox and Hounds. The one in Atlanta stands out from the rest. Convenient to Midtown and GA Tech, this neighborhood pub and restaurant answers the recent call for a bar atmosphere that also has a menu that need not be ignored until after the fifth draft. On weekends Fox and Hounds has a wonderful brunch menu, including the traditional English breakfast of beans, eggs, tomatoes, and bangers(a type of sausage). While the appetizer menu has your typical wings and fries, the blue cheese and bacon chips is a neat alternative to the cheese nachos most bars serve. The hummus is also surprisingly good for a place that has a flatscreen or beer mirror on every open wall. For dinner burgers are made to order, but the fish and chips are suprisingly good. F&H also has great specials. On Sundays fish tacos are $ 1, and there is a premium draft(Fullers, Amstel Light, Red Hook IPA, and others) selected for $ 1. It’s a crazy deal… even with a modest tip it is cheaper to get Fullers at F&H than at the package store. On Monday everything on the menu is ½ price. Lastly, if you are bringing a group who likes to drink, you can negotiate the cost of food to take care of them down to nothing. The service is hit and miss due to some turnover issues on the waitstaff, but if you get a veteran server, you will have a great experience.

I lived across the street from Fox and Hounds for about 2.5 years and I went there a handful of times. They have a very nice patio that is great for just chilling out with friends or playing trivia when they offer it. Inside is often quite smoky. They have a few pool tables, some dart boards, and a juke box to keep you entertained. My biggest gripe about F&H; the beer. 1) The beer menu is basically the fairly standard English pub beers of Harp, Hoegaarden, Guinness, etc. There is nothing original about their beers really. No Belgiums, nothing that isn’t mainstream. 2) The beers are WAY overpriced. Expect to pay a 20% premium vs. nearly every other place in Atlanta. I gave it three starts because it’s not bad, but if you are a pub and your beer has two main issues then that’s what you get. I’d go back again, but if another decent bar opened up nearby with a decent beer list I’d likely never set foot in F&H again. Heck, even the nearby coffee shop Octane has a better beer menu!

One of Derek Lawford’s pubs(you know, Prince of Wales, Hand in Hand, Rose and Crown, etc.) that I frequented for many years wishing to God I was English. It’s like an English pub with better food. It sort of has the atmosphere of an English pub(nothing can beat my last experience at an English pub where old Brits sang karaōke to Tom Jones) and the charm, but the food is better than fish and chips. It’s worth a look if you like pubs and if you are an Anglophile like me. Yes, I still wish I was born a Brit.
