I went in yesterday at 5:20 pm, they close at 5:30pm. I ran through the aisles and by 5:29pm picked out what I wanted and asked if I could have 11 yards cut. The lady in the back said no. I am mad. I have given this store my business over the years and every single time, they act like they are doing me a favor. The service here is TERRIBLE, the fabric selection is great, but why give your business to a place that cares so little about the people who walk through the door.

I took some drapes in to be refined. I gave them all the time they needed.
When I started to hang them I noticed that one side was not completed.
Some one stitched to within three inches from the top. The thread was hanging down and had not been finished. I had heard good things, and honestly at this price, there is no excuse for sloppy workmanship.

You want find fabric that will make you the envy of everyone in the neighborhood but you will find fabric that’s affordable. You won’t find a broader selection anywhere. And, the staff is very helpful and professional.

Forsyth Fabrics is hands down my favorite fabric store in Atlanta. Their selection is massive and full of high quality, competitively priced options. Unlike Gail K, Forsyth displays those options in a way that suggests that they’re interested in your business. Everything is organized and easy to navigate. The staff are helpful and super friendly. My special-​order experience was nothing like Alan’s: my fabric came in 9 business days, and they called as soon as it arrived. Nothing but good things to say about this place!

I’ve bought fabrics here for two different reupholstery projects. There is a huge selection with fabrics available in-​store and for order. The prices are very reasonable. The associates in the store are very helpful and knowledgeable and really take the time to help you choose the perfect fabric.

Don’t expect the truth from these people! They promise special-​order fabric in 7 – 10 business days. But it took five weeks — three weeks after they claimed it was shipped from the mill. Try another near-​by fabric supplier.

So much fabric. Feels overwhelming at first. However set up very well for browsing. Organized by palette and type. Liberal sample policy. Be sure to use their sticker system. Have purchased fabric on 3 occasions and have recovered DR chairs, couch and chair/​ottoman. All look great.

Yes, lots of fabric selections, prices are okay… but I’ve found the service to be lacking every time I’ve visited. Today I went in, asked about the location of certain items and was told «we would have to order that, we don’t have that here.» I was in mid-​sentence trying to explain what I wanted when this same woman (at the counter) turned to speak to a co-​worker and wouldn’t acknowledge I was still standing there.
I looked around and found several selections of exactly what I had asked about. I would rather take my business elsewhere.

A ton of fabric choices but customer service is lack luster! Three people pointed me around the store instead of taking me where I needed to be. I was pretty disappointed.

Wow. Oodles and caboodles of fabric. You could spend a lot of time in there. I sort of went in blind to what they sold. I did not know it was more for home decorating (curtain, chair, ottoman fabric).
I was looking for some fabric to make a cape for Halloween. So I just asked an associate and she kindly took me what she thought might work. She also gently directed me to Hancock’s. She was wonderful! Because I know just enough about sewing to know their beautiful heavy fabrics are not what I wanted. Anyone that will send you to another store for the best outcome of your project is good people. I promised I would come back with a more appropriate project.

Forsyth Fabrics is a great place to find fabrics and trim for all your home decorating projects. The people are nice and there’s a great selection. They’ve done a pretty good job of organizing and making the most of their old and oddly shaped building. Some of the rooms/​aisles are pretty dark and slightly creepy, but the selection is hard to beat, particularly when it comes to fabric for decorating kids rooms.
Fabrics are sorted by type and color. They’ve got lots of fabrics at the front where the pattern comes in assorted colors that you can order by the yard online. Then they’ve got the warehouse like room at the back with the richer silks, velvets, suedes, etc. There trim selection is extensive. They’ve got a room for outdoor fabrics, with special instructions not to use them inside because the special treatments will cause them to wear faster with everyday indoor use.
Check with the men at the cutting table for stuff that is on the bolt. There’s a sign that says to press the button for service, but they’d really prefer that you wait the short time until someone will be back to help you…
There is a warning sign about the valuables in the car just outside the front door. Hopefully it’s more a reminder of days past, but you’ve been warned. Then again, my car doesn’t compare to those of the Buckhead Betty’s in the parking lot who come here to design their dream houses, so maybe I don’t need to worry too much about the bars on the windows.

If you are a veteran to the fabric scene, then this is by far your place. So many fabrics to choose from it’s ridiculous. There were a lot of people in there when I popped in, and it seemed like they were regulars. I, however, was not. And I got lost in the bolts and protocol like it was a jungle. Normally, I would ask a friendly associate for assistance, but as I was looking for fabric that’s not so sturdy (seemed like mostly upholstery fabric) I just parted ways. Someday when I’ve gained more skills, creativity, and talent I would like to come back and give it another try.

Decorating the abode. Don’t want to buy two hundred dollar panels from the mega stores. Decided we would get in shabby chic mode…
I believe the fabrics here are for home decorating and not clothing. but i guess if you want to wear window draping then this place is a gold mine!

I’m not artsy craftsy, but this place makes me wish I was. The selection is kinda overwhelming at first, but it’s cool that they have such a range of stuff. I just wish there were more ethnic fabrics — some African or Indian prints are definitely missing. I took my mom there and we got yards and yards of fabric so she can make me curtains and upholster a chair. They are gonna be so awesome and the prices were super reasonable says my mom, the artsy crafty seamstress. The staff was really nice and answered my stupid questions and engaged in seamstress banter with my mom. There’s a big bowl of candy up front with tootsie rolls and lollipops, too. If you’re the type of person who makes her own purses or covers pillows, or anything creative — you should check it out.

What did I do before Forsyth? I found a fabulous ottoman at The Goodwill for $ 25 and was looking for the perfect covering to compliment its salvaged structure. Lo and behold, I found a cool damask orange-​ish fabric that was just made for this piece of furniture. Originally $ 30/​yard, I scored it for $ 10/​yard. The ottoman turned out beautifully (as I knew it would) and I get tickled at the great steal everytime I put my tootsies on it.

Forsyth is the top choice for Atlanta’s thrifty and style-​conscious do-​it-​yourselfers. It boasts thousands of in-​stock fabrics ranging from light cotton chintz to rich velvet and beaded silk, as well as prints from Laura Ashley and Waverly.
