They have no respect for the patient’s time. They did emergency surgery on my wrist (didn’t have a lot of choice in who to go to) and then did the follow-​up. Three appointments, one I waited ½ an hour, one I waited just over an hour (and that was for a physicians assistant!) and one I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes and I had to leave as I had another meeting to get to. When I left after an hour and a quarter there was another couple waiting for a different doc who were also ready to walk due to the long wait.
I understand that emergencies arise but they clearly over schedule their staff and don’t care if you have to wait ridiculous amounts of time.

Saw Dr. Mines based on friends/​neighbors recommendations and had a great experience. I’ve worked in a doctors office and noticed that a lot of time when patients have complaints, it’s usually about money or the doctor didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear. Sadly, these people have no trouble bashing someone on these review sites. The doctors at university based practices such as Emory, don’t have control over their charges, they are set by the facility so blaming the doctor is unfair.
Lets all remember that there are always two sides to every story and I get the feeling that a number of negative reviews don’t include ALL of the FACTS.
Fortunately my issue isn’t surgical and I am not excited about doing therapy but like most orthopedic injuries, ya gotta put in work to get better!

I’m military affiliated and needed a second opinion in reference to my daughters severe, constant back pain. We have seen to several physicians to no avail. I woke up one morning and decided to GOOGLE. My search lead me here. From the point of entry we were fascinated with their process. We were initially greeted by a pleasant intern. Soon after Dr. Beckworth entered and put us at ease, with wonderful results. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes.
Not only did we leave with a great diagnosis and follow up plan. We had time for a great mommy-​daughter day in Atlanta.

Was worried after seeing the negative reviews, particularly of Dr. Mines, but I went to see him today and the whole experience was pretty nice. I was in and out in just over an hour, which included X-​Rays. Got the help I needed. I was very pleased with the whole experience: the staff, the doctor, the environment. I won’t hesitate to go again.

Saw dr. mines for a knee problem, re-​builr in 1980. after an x-​ray, the assistant bent my knee a couple of times and asked a few questions. dr. mines came in, bent my knee a few times, asked a few questions, but did add a thoughtful scratching of his chin that someone must have told him looked ‘doctorly.’ concluded, ‘nothing i can do.’ $ 486 plus the x-​ray.
suggest they change the name to AAA Happy Ending Ortho Spa.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Hubbell’s before he moved. Now I am seeing Dr. Garcia. I have nothing but good things to say about Emory Orthopedic and Spine Center. Yes, they have residents and students that may not know as much — but Emory is a teaching hospital and that should be expected, they are there to learn! If you do not want a resident or student, you can always tell the nurse ahead of time. Both of these docs know what they are doing! They are caring, professional and knowledge. I can tell they are trying to figure out the reason why I have pain instead of just trying to make money off of you. Dr. Hubbell was able to target the root of my problem with an specific epidural at L3 that 2 doctors could not figure out before him!

Holy crap. Very difficult to schedule an appointment. Awful call center. Awful staffs at call center. Too much time consuming. If you have a choice (which I don’t), go to Piedmont or somewhere else. Really!!! Everybody I talked to (that works at Emory) said they took their family somewhere else. I went somewhere else for something that co-​pay is comparable but for something with significant co-​pay, don’t really have a lot of choice.

I’ve seen my share of doctors and imaging rooms as a retired athlete, and have not met anyone as professional and capable as the folks here. Dr. Xerognes is amazing and the folks really care. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Kneer and his resident (Dr. Staggs, I believe). I have torn both ACLs and five meniscus in the past, so I have a lot of experience with having my knees treated. I was called back quickly, saw the dr. right away, and even had a small and unexpected procedure on my knee without delay. Both doctors listened to me and seemed to respect my thoughts and opinions, which was wonderful. Everyone I spoke with from the appt. scheduler to the nurse was polite and helpful. I was very pleased with the level of service and quality of care.

These people are crooks who use your insurance like a credit card without your permission. Absolutely terrible collection of «doctors» at this practice who have no moral basis, and certainly a questionable aptitude for the medical field.

I agree that Dr. Howard Levy is the most unprofessional, pompous, useless physician I have ever seen. I sought assistance for lower back pain and he took an x-​ray. He threw a poor copy of the x-​ray at me and said, «this is why you back hurts.» What? Why? I asked. «You have no cartilage in between three discs.» He was about to walk out of the room. Excuse me, «what should I do about this?» Try physical therapy. OK, but explain. So, he didn’t explain the diagnosis, what caused it, or the treatment protocol. I wonder how he remains a licensed physician.

I highly recommend Emory Orthopedics and Spine Center. After being told by many Atlanta doctors that my only option was surgery, a friend recommended that I see a physician at Emory. I was thankful that I did. Dr. Refai and Dr. Beckworth were professional, thorough and kind. They recommended that I try physical therapy and stay the surgery until I could give it some time to heal. It has been about 8 months now and I am feeling better each day.

Dr. Howard Levy was the most unprofessional Dr, I have ever encountered. I was with my daughter in law who has had several failed back surgeries and was there for him to evaluate the myelogram she had the previous week. He came in, sat down & told her that there was nothing he could do to help her due to the scar tissue from her surgeries with a smile on his face. When we asked several questions, he smiled as he answered and she sat there sobbing. I explained that she had no quality of life due to the excruciating pain and he, obviously, thought it was funny. A Dr. without a heart has no business in the medical profession and certainly doesn’t belong at a facility such as Emory. The fact that he couldn’t help was not the issue, his attitude was. There was nothing funny about another person’s suffering.

This place is amazing! Great personal attention, professional and thorough. Dr. X replaced my boyfriend’s ACL and the entire process has been a breeze (as much as something like this could be breezy). So impressed with Emory.

Not a good experience a this center. I attended an appointment to address a recurring pain that I had on my knee. During the visit they immediately recommended an MRI
procedure. Results stated I had a meniscus tear and that surgery was the only option for correcting the problem. It was a bad recommendation and no other alternatives were offer to correct the problem. Come to find out the issue was improper running shoes. I’m now stuck with a $ 1000 bill for the MRI. Point is they caused me to undergo a procedure (MRI) that was very expensive not offering additional treatment options. By the way the Doctor was Dr. Mines.

Good doctors for your needs and when you make a appointment they actually call you on time if not earlier. Quiet and clean waiting room also.

Great place! Dr Karas is a genius — love his bedside manner.

Dr. Brandon Mines charges an hourly rate of $ 13,200. I say this because he did no tests, xrays, examinations himself. He spent 5 mins in the room with me and then billed my insurance $ 1,200, of which I’m responsible for $ 250.
If this wasn’t bad enough, the advice he did give me in the 5 mins that he was in the room kept me in the boot 1.5 months longer (!!!). After 3 months of no running, numerous arguments with the billing staff over a $ 1200 charge, and trips to another doctor, I would not recommend that any living being schedule an appointment with him.

The staff here is really nice. I forgot which doctor I saw, but he had a really good bedside manner. The x-​rays are done on the same floor, and they gave me copies on pieces of paper. The doctor suggested physical therapy which I am doing next door with Jason. So far, it is going well, even though I am sore. A nice perk about this location is the FREE parking, which is very uncommon for anything Emory.

I would not recommend this place if you have persistent lower back pain or already have an MRI result/​diagnosis but do not want to obtain surgery or epidurals.
I went here from the advice of my former PCP to learn what options were available to me since I’m young, and not the «ideal» candidate for spine surgery. I had an appointment and was in some of the worst pain of my life, post accident. I was made to get into a gown (no clothes) and then sit in the gown in an air conditioned cold room for over two hours waiting on Dr. Randy Katz. I kept asking how much longer it’d be; I was crying because I was in so much pain and being seated or standing only worsened my pain. They did not have somewhere for me to lay down or any way in which to alleviate my pain which was exacerbated by sitting/​standing. The wait alone with a fixed appointment was beyond ridiculous and inconsiderate.
Upon arrival, Dr. Katz touched my back for a few moments, and I screamed in pain. He then left and sent back in his resident with a prescription/​prognosis sheet of «LBP» and the resident asked me if I wanted epidural or surgery. Picture me confused…
Why did I just pay you and waste hours of my day in pain for you to tell me what I just told you– that I have lower back pain. Wow, thank you Captain Sherlock! I found this experience to be such a waste of money, energy and efforts.
I later complained at my «visit» with Randy Katz, which lasted all of 4 minutes or less which included his «examination» {poking my back} and I later got assigned to Dr. Schaufele. He was a TIDBIT more patient, but also told me that aside from surgery and epidurals that there was nothing that he could do to help me (aside from prescription meds)
I told that that I’d done successful IDD (disc decompression) and that if that was not possible. THEN and ONLY THEN did he say that the Emory Physical Therapy centre across the street offers those options for people that don’t want to simply jump to invasive procedures that they do not need. So, after wasting $ 100 in co pays, gas, and HOURS of my time waiting for them to be late to their appointment (that if I was late for I wouldn’t be seen at all!) I got a referral to the physical therapy place for IDD.
Why did I feel like I had to do their job for them? They seemed rushed and ready to get to the next person… Why was the only suggestion epidural or surgery? Why did Katz look like he could care less that I was sitting there crying from pain while he was hours late for his appointment? Why didn’t someone give me a referral to Physical Therapy without ME having to suggest IDD to them???
This place was a huge disappointment, and I wouldn’t recc it to someone that wasn’t hell-​bent on surgery right away and wanted to know what OPTIONS there were to manage their pain and disc issues.
