Elan Westside Luxury Apartments

I wanted to write a review because they are quite helpful before making a final decision. I actually live at Élan Westside and I love the energy. I don’t have any major complaints. I will say that Nick is Super and the location is just right. I will say that I’m Not that Needy but whenever I did request something Nick was always there to help. I won’t say terrible things about Élan because I made a decision to move here and nothing is perfect so it is what it is. The apt itself is Super Cute and Cool for my daughter who enjoys looking out the window to view and hear the hustle of Atlanta. It’s located close to everything so you won’t hesitate to leave your apt. My daughter enjoy swimming in the pool and Élan actually host events for their tenant’s. I hope this review is helpful and there is plenty of parking and I come and go frequently all types of hours. It’s also pretty quiet until you open your windows, but I expect noise in the city. The only thing I will say is that you will receive your gift card but not until you pay your first month rent just a FYI. I’m not hard up for cash so it doesn’t bother me, but I think each person should be told.

Horrible! Shady! Unethical Bootleg company! Run! After going in to visit the assistant manager decided that she didn’t want me to live at the property most likely because i’m an articulate professional individual able to speak up for myself. During our walk through I had several concerns such as the smell from valet trash and no option to opt-​out, the lack of updated amenities, the offer of fitness workout groups that don’t really exist, and the awkward layout (you enter through the kitchen and there are no doors for the bedrooms). I absolutely loved the size of the closets and the low price (you get what you pay for) so I decided to keep them on the list. When I called back I was told they were no longer offering the special by Erica. I smelled a rat so I called back a few days later and a new leasing person (apparently they can’t retain staff either) answered and was surprised to hear there wasn’t a special. He informed me that the same special still applied. I decided at that point to continue looking around and circle back. I noticed the prices had dropped at Élan again online (red flag) so I called back two days later to inquire. This time Erica told me (in her pretentious condescending drawl) to hold on while she checked, but transferred me instead to the property Manager who was equally rude and lied saying there was no longer a special because I had come in two weeks prior to look. When I asked for the corporate office contact he told me «I am the corporate office». I explained to him that most corporate office executives don’t typically manage their property as well and again asked for the contact. He again refused to give me the number and started rambling on about how this property wasn’t a good fit for me (as if I would dare move there now). I immediately googled and called the corporate office (they never answer and don’t have a receptionist) and left a message.
If this is an indication of how they treat their residents and their level of ethics, honesty and professionalism. Run! They clearly don’t want vocal, upscale professionals in their building. They would prefer those who keep quiet, can barely pay their cheap rent, and most likely get evicted because they don’t run efficient employment backgrounds.
I will continue to contact their corporate office to file a complaint and may pursue a formal complaint due to their violations of fair housing practices. You can NOT pick and choose who you give concessions to based upon your personal like or dislike of them. That would be considered discrimination!

I am very sad to be writing this review as I had very high hopes of Élan Westside when I moved in 1 year ago. It is in the most trendy, up-​and-​coming neighborhood in Atlanta with many fantastic restaurants and stores surrounding it. However, the disappointment was extreme. Nina F. is spot on with every bit of her review, and I couldn’t agree more.
Management of this property has had a tough time. Literally every month there is someone new in the office (when there is actually someone in the office). Good luck contacting anyone in the office or getting answers to your questions… the leasing office doors are always closed and it usually takes weeks to get a simple answer on anything. I have lived in apartment complexes since I was 18, and I have never had a leasing office where the agents, not to mention the manager, are NEVER there. Tiffanie is the only agent that has been with Élan Westside the entire time and she is great. Other than that… management definitely has no idea what they are doing.
There have recently been a spree of break-​ins in the community which is absolutely unacceptable due to the fact that these are supposed to be Luxury apartments with ²⁴⁄₇ security watch, not to mention a busy high-​end restaurant in the bottom floor. I often times worried for my safety as I walked around my own apartment complex.
I chose to move in before the amenities were finished last year, however, they did not end up finishing them until September… WHEN SUMMER WAS OVER! Management never did anything for current residents to make up for the delay, and pretty much slapped us in the face this year when we got our lease renewal contracts… increasing our rent by leaps and bounds when the complex is only at 60% occupancy as it is.
I actually liked the apartments themselves, although a bit pricey for what you get on the inside. There is ample parking so it makes no sense to me why you have to pay extra for a parking spot beyond the high cost of rent. There is also ZERO guest parking, and the restaurant has a Valet downstairs which makes getting in and out of the garage very difficult from 5pm –midnight most days.
Like I said, overall, just a HUGE disappointment.

From the outside Élan Westside looks like a really hip new place to live on the up and coming Westside of Atlanta, but on the inside it’s very different.
1. Let’s start with how they collect rent. Élan allows you to pay your rent online like most apartments these days, however they do not post your monthly bill until the 1^st of the month (sometimes not until late on the 1^st) and expect you to pay by the 3^rd to avoid a penalty. Our first month in our apartment we were not aware of the amount of time your were given to pay rent without a penalty — so we were charged upwards of $ 200 for late rent (by one day may I add). When we spoke to a leasing agent about this, they told us the details were in our lease. Well guess what? We asked the front office no less than 6 times for a copy of our lease and by the time the first rent was due we still had not received it. When we mentioned this to the leasing agent she told us we should have referred to the very first copy of our lease. How does it make sense to refer to an outdated copy of our lease for current policies?
2. I’m assuming the apartments were build rather cheap because at least once a month they had to send their service people in for maintenance. I had lived in several apartments before this and the amount of times service people had to enter my apartment was nowhere close to this.
3. Going back to (1) about how we never received a copy of our lease — we moved out in Feb 2015 and did not receive a copy of our lease until weeks before move out so we could make sure that Élan was following correct procedures, as well as it being a reference to us to avoid additional charges at move out.
4. Beware if you have dogs. Because there is a restaurant on the bottom floor of the building sometimes there will be food remnants around the property. However Élan doesn’t make much of an effort to clean this up, and several times there have been chicken/​other meat bones just laying around near the dog park area, which my dog promptly grabbed.
5. This one is the whammy and why I will never rent again. On 2÷25÷15 I received an email from the current apartment manager containing our final account statement. I was shocked to see an outstanding balance of just over $ 1300. After speaking with the office manager she assured me that she would take a look at it and see if the balance was miscalculated, she said she would call me back in 30 minutes to get the whole thing situated. Not only did I not get a call back at all that day, I didn’t get an updated account balance until two days later 2÷27÷15. At that point I was thinking «okay this is fine, they significantly decreased the amount I have due, so the amount of time it took them is no big deal». Well, today ¾/​15 I received a call from a collections agency about how I have an outstanding balance with Élan Westside, and that the balance was reported on 3÷2÷15. Mind you, this is the next business day after I was given the updated account balance. And on top of that, I was in contact with a leasing agent earlier in the week to confirm who the balance check should be written out to — I did get a response from the leasing agent with no indication my account had been sent to collections. When I contacted the manager who had prepared my final account statement she told me that their system «automatically reports outstanding balances after move out». How does that even make sense? This balance wasn’t even calculated until after my move out date. I then told her that if it hadn’t taken the rest of the week to update my account statement that I would have paid the balance on time, and that by automatically reporting people to collections agencies they could really ruin someones credit.
Moral of the story — beware of Élan Westside. Cheap apartments with cheap appliances (although they tout it as «luxury» bc they got the stainless steel bottom line appliances), and Management apparently has no idea what they are doing.

Apart from all of this I will say that leasing agent Tiffanie was always on top of things and was always there when I had questions. She was very knowledgable and was able to answer questions quickly.

The apartments are nice. The common areas remain clean, there is free coffee when the front office is open, any issues with the apartment I have had are quickly fixed, gym is decent, and pool is gorgeous.
In terms of the noise, it is TERRIBLE. I also disagree with the previous Unilocaler. IT IS the apartment’s fault. I have lived in places that there was a lot of outside noise (airplanes, trains, etc), but knowing that quality windows were installed. I am in no way a light sleeper, and I have difficulty sleeping here. If an apt wants to charge what they are charging for rent and self-​proclaimed as a luxury apt, in the very least they could have invested in better sound proof windows. Besides that, the SUPER spotty internet in the common areas, and no guest parking (which is ANOTHER big issue), I don’t have much to complain about.
They also keep in mind that above the rent there will be a monthly pest, parking, water and valet trash fees. So add $ 80-​$ 100 to your rent.

So during my search and came here and was shown a one bedroom model. The apartment wasn’t bad. I thought it was weird that you walk into the kitchen right away. The one thing I don’t understand is why there isn’t any counter space. The apartment isn’t bad, the closet was nice. Overall a good place. Didn’t like the fact that the amenities weren’t done. I would have figured that they would have a pool open. Maybe it’s because they are worried that construction debris would get in? I don’t know, not my realm of expertise. The leasing girl was nice and answered my questions. I think that the price is way expensive and you still have to pay to park. It’s not that I wouldn’t live there, but I would wait until they were out of construction.
