I was referred to Liza from a friend. I just moved to Atlanta in November & have been incredibly nervous about going to a new hairstylist. Liza made the entire process very enjoyable. It was easy to schedule an appointment with her and when I met with her for the first time she know exactly what I wanted. It’s in a great location with free parking and the staff is very friendly. Thanks again, Liza.

Where to begin?!
Since moving to Atlanta I was recommended to a stylist who shall be named who colored my hair a lovely shade of… yellow. Yes, yellow. Oh, and because my hair was over processed to start with, the highlights i had that day looked stripey at the roots and too light throughout the rest. Let’s just say, I decided to move on.
Amber saved me. We had a consultation and went over how to rehab my color. The next day she started my appointment by saying «I thought a lot about your hair and what we should do». I felt so good, knowing she was taking my color issue seriously. We did a partial lowlight and a glaze to even out the color, which is no longer yellow, but a lovely deep blonde hue.
Le-​Ann had the task of cutting off several inches of previous damage from many months of over coloring and neglect in general. She gave me a great cut and styled it in a way I know I can do myself.
So happy to know that 2 weeks into living in Atlanta, I found my hair salon!

I saw HL on Saturday for a partial foil and he did a FANTASTIC job! I felt like he really listened to me and understood the look I was going for — and delivered! He also provided great hair care recommendations for me as I’m getting married later this year and want to have beautiful hair for the big day! His prices were very fair for such great service. Also, the atmosphere in Dragonfly is so cool… I felt «cooler» when I left that day.

The most professional salon in Atlanta. They ALWAYS give you a reminder call (not automated) two days before your appointment. When you check in they immediately ask if you want something to drink. It’s clean, modern, classy, etc. The product lines they offer are superb. I could go on and on. My stylist, HL, is patient, understanding, sweet, professional who knows his color and the blowout (what can I say?)! First rate, five star! Give him a try!

Melanie has been my stylist for years. I followed her from another salon, she is always consistent and does an amazing job on color and cut.

This was the best salon experience I have had in Atlanta. Brett is an amazing colorist and Le-​ann does a wonderful cut.
I gave Dragonfly salon a try after making the mistake of dying my hair brown from blonde. Every two years or so I get bored and decide it would be a genius idea to dye my blonde hair to a more natural brown color. It never turns out well. I always inevitably end up with a mousy brown color that makes me dread looking in the mirror. I see women with rich, shiny brunette hair and get so jealous because instead, I look drab and washed out. After about two months of my brunette experiment, I decided it’s time to start the process to lighten it up and get back to a blonde tone.
I have been chemically treating and lightening my hair since high school (about 10 years), so needless to say, in spite of numerous treatments to keep it strong and healthy, it isn’t in the best condition. Additionally, you have to be careful when changing hair colors, because if you go to a colorist who doesn’t know what they are doing, you can end up with hair that easily breaks or, or that pulls a different color than you had hoped for. I’ve heard horror stories of blondes going brunette that end up red, and brunettes going blonde who end up with a hair color that is closer to green than golden blonde. After doing some research online to weigh my options, I got a bit scared that I’d end up with green hair. I knew I had to find a great salon with a skilled colorist to fix the brown mess I had created.
Since moving to Atlanta 3 years ago, I have struggled to find a good salon. Either I have enjoyed the salon and stylist, but have been unimpressed with the end result, or I loved the end result but the experience at the salon left a lot to be desired. I found Dragonfly Salon here on Unilocal and did some more online research. After being impressed by everything I read, I decided to call them and see when they could fit me in. The receptionist was enthusiastic, helpful, and assured me that Brett would be the perfect colorist for me. I decided it was also time for a hair cut and set up a cut after the highlights with Le-​ann. Not only did the receptionist put my worries at ease, she was also able to squeeze me in for the next afternoon.
I have to say my experience at Dragonfly was phenomenal. I am not exaggerating when I say Brett is one of, if not the best colorist I have ever been to — and I have been to a lot here in Atlanta and while living in Los Angeles. He inspected my hair and sat with me discussing my options and how to best go about lightening up my hair. From my previous brunette disasters, I know it takes a few months to get back to where I want to be so I wasn’t expecting to be a light blonde after this first visit. That’s why I was shocked to see how light Brett was able to make my hair. He made it look so much lighter, healthier, and shiny. He kept the highlights small and fine, and concentrated some around my face to soften it up a bit, and was sure to make sure the highlights all blended well with the existing color. Despite the fact that he didn’t use super light blonde tones to lighten my hair (the contrast would be too drastic with the existing brown), he was able to give my hair overall lighter look without drastic contrast, in a way no colorist before him has ever been able to do. More importantly, he was also careful to use an oil protectant on my hair to try and reduce any additional damage to my already damaged hair. He gave me the exact result I wanted, and even exceeded my expectations, while being sure to take care of and protect my hair, which is a lot more than I can say for other colorists I have been to. In addition to his superior coloring skills, Brett was a genuine joy to talk with and get to know. He made the three hour appointment fly by and fun. I usually cant wait to get out of that chair and for my appointment to be done, but I was actually kind of sad when my appointment at Dragonfly was over.
After my highlights were done, I had a cut by Le-​ann. Like, Brett, she was a joy to speak with and get to know. She also did a phenomenal job on my cut. I had gone way to long since my last trim and so my ends were a mess. She definitely had her work cut out for her. She gave me a great, fresh cut that softened the lines around my face and got rid of all my split and dead ends.
I walked out of Dragonfly with a brighter color, a great cut, and hair that felt incredibly healthy for the first time in months. It amazed me how much they were able to change in those three hours. I couldn’t have been more thrilled, and I was sure to book my next appointment before leaving.
I have finally found my salon here in Atlanta, and highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a quality color or cut.

I have troubled bangs and had been seeing a stylist at Van Michael who just could not tame them. I went to Dragonfly several months ago to see Beth who was wonderful and finally cut my bangs right! She told me to come by anytime to get a bang trim. So, I called as a courtesy one afternoon to make sure Beth was going to be around that evening if I were to stop by after work. The woman who answered the phone had the nerve to tell me I had to make an appointment to get a bang trim, and that it would be 2 days before I could come in. I mean, what?! Who needs an appointment for a bang trim? Unheard of.
I go along with this and make an appointment for 6:45 p.m. I arrive at the salon at 6:35, expecting that I would not have to wait too long for Beth since she did not have an appointment before me. I arrive only to hear from the extremely rude woman at the front desk with an ugly panama hat and a bad attitude that Beth is gone for the day. WHAT! You did not have the courtesy to call me and tell me she was not going to be there after making me schedule an appointment? First red flag. I was then told someone else was going to do it, and that it would just be a minute. I sit down in the waiting area.
5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes goes by. I am getting annoyed now because there are several stylists that are not doing anything and are leaving! This lazy woman at the desk does not even get up to find someone to cut my bangs, but instead gossips with the hairdressers who are not busy while I wait and wait. After 20 minutes I go to the desk and ask how much longer it will be. The reply I get from the woman really pisses me off. She says, well your appointment was at 6:45 and its only a few minutes after 6:50. What terrible customer service. My appointment was at 6:45– don’t try and tell me otherwise. You are lazy and are not helpful, and I do not appreciate being talked down to like a fool.
To the woman behind the desk with the hat, you know who you are: learn how to treat your customers and get rid of that snippy attitude you have going on because it will not get you anywhere in life. To Beth– you give a great haircut, but you would be wise to change salons.
Beware when you go to dragonfly– be ready to wait a long time and be treated like crap.

I got a cut from Naomi and I’m very happy with it. She’s a great stylist and has a really great personality, which is important when you’re strapped into that seat! The salon itself has a great style and reception really makes sure you feel welcome.

I’ve been seeing Melanie Bell for almost two years and cannot say enough fabulous things about her and how dedicated she is to her craft. Melanie is meticulous to the Nth degree and you will not leave her chair with anything less than a perfect haircut.\
When I first started seeing her, my hair was in a horrible, sad, dreary state and she was honest that the best thing to do was get rid of all the damaged hair and weird layering. I feel many stylists tell you what you want to hear, rather than what is best for your hair (and you in the process).
I was shocked to read the negative reviews about the salon /​the vibe of the salon as I’ve been here several times and have never experienced any rudeness by anybody. Everybody was extremely affable and friendly. I’m not sure why Ann faulted the salon when she brought her 3 year old and expected the salon to double as a daycare. Frankly, I think that is rude and the last thing I would want at a salon is an unattended 3 year old. Gross.

If any of you had ever been to Vis a Vis salon in Buckhead, my stylist was known as Joseph there… But now that HE HAS MOVED TO DRAGONFLY he can go by his actual name. Jeff. He is the best. I loved him at Vis a Vis, I really did. But he was the only reason I went there.
Dragonfly is so much more his style, my style, just better. It’s upscale, but not stuffy and hoity toity. You are well taken care of from the moment you walk in and Jeff is more comfortable there which makes the experience even better. They still have all the niceties of the hoity, without the toity.
I have been going to Jeff for about two years and I am following him to Dragonfly. The area is better, the parking is free (and you don’t HAVE to valet) the space the salon is in has a Yeah Burger and a West Egg Café nearby (like walking nearby), so much better. It’s located closer to me and closer to the connector which makes it easier for everyone.
Now, the cut. Jeff spent time talking with me and listening to what I wanted and how I felt about bangs… I have had them for over a year and I was banged out… he knows I prefer to wash and go with my hair and works with me on this, even though «I could do so much with the cut that would look great» I am not that girl. I need a wash and go cut that looks good, but has the versatility that if I wanted to work on it, I could. That’s what he gave me and I love it.
There are a few differences from «the other salon,» Jeff has no assistant, which I prefer. He can learn more about the texture of your hair by being the one that washes it and see the condition of it. And… I saw him use a broom when my cut was done… A BROOM.
He is a great stylist and I am so happy that he is in a salon that fits his personality and the personality of a lot of his clients. But be prepared to still laugh. Jeff is a funny man.
Dragonfly is BEHIND Abattoir on the second floor. There is only one way through the building and it is not near Abattoir, it is near Howell Mill, by the walking bridge.

Dragonfly is not my regular salon, but like Tri M. and Julie K., I purchased a keratin treatment through Groupon. I had a keratin treatment in the past at another salon and was thrilled with the results, which lasted about 4 or 5 months. I had the treatment at Dragonfly done on April 23^rd, and after sitting in the chair for 4 hours, I expected super straight hair and less drying time (like before). I followed the rules: didn’t wash my hair for three days, didn’t work out or get it wet at all, and used the right shampoo. However, my hair is no different than before I had the treatment. I completely wasted 4 hours of my life and my money. I called the salon to let them know about this issue. When I told the manager that there are other negative reviews online, she answered that people only post negative reviews, never positive ones. I have to say that I disagree since I have seen several positive reviews on here about their other salon services. I will update my post if I receive any additional feedback from the salon.

I received the best cut I’ve ever had at Dragonfly! Not to mention, my first color experience. Karen M is a wonderful colorist and gave the best advice for my «virgin hair». I highly recommend the other Karen (my apologies for not having her last name). She knew exactly what I was looking for in a cut and style. She is amazing! I definitely suggest getting a double dose of the Karens at Dragonfly Salon. :)

I knew I never should have cheated on my current hairdresser, but I’m the kinda gal who can’t resist a good deal on a salon with so many great reviews.
is one of my favorite websites in the world. One day they offered a great deal: $ 40 for a $ 100 value at Dragonfly Salon. After checking the reviews on Unilocal and various other websites I decided to give them a shot. Last week I finally scheduled an appointment. I had a hard time finding the place which made me about 15 minutes late to my appointment, but not before calling 5 minutes until my appointment to say I was lost and would be late. I am always considerate to someone elses time especially in a salon.
Upon arrival I’m warmly greeted by a nice young man, but next to him is this surly looking dude who I can swear is giving me stink eye. The receptionist instructs me to put on the robe and to have a seat in the waiting area. I don’t make a fuss because I was the one who was late and I’m sure caused some kind of appointment overlap. I sit there for a few minutes until I realize the surly dude next to the receptionist isd my hairdresser. Oh boy. He gives a quick little hello and without another word he just turns his back on me and walks away. I assume I’m supposed to follow so I round the corner and see him sitting behind a chair. He then pats on it with his hand indicating that I should sit in it. I find myself annoyed that I’m being beckoned like a dog, but bite my tongue despite the fact that my gut is telling me to eat the $ 40 investment and run. I take my hair down from my ponytail and he just kinda sifts through it with a look of utter annoyance on his face. FYI: I go to a early morning bootcamp everyday and had washed my hair before coming so some poor bastard wouldn’t have to wash dirt, twigs, and disgusting sweat off my head. Again I’m trying to be as considerate as possible. He just looks at me and says with total attitude «You washed your hair before coming here?» I tell him about bootcamp… and he literally rolled his eyes and hmmph’d me. Did he think I was trying to save a few bucks by washing my hair at home? At this point I didn’t care and just wanted to get my hair cut. He literally said NOTHING to me the whole time he was cutting my hair. He was even pretty rough when it came to adjusting the tilt/​direction of my head. Even worse he never put a haircutting cape on me so I ended up with little hairs all down the front and back of my shirt. Once the haircut/​blowout was done he just kinda walked away and I once again led myself out to the front desk to pay. I give them the coupon and find that that days visit exhausted the entire $ 100 balance. I was floored! Not only have I had better haircuts and styling at a salon for half that price, but I would also get someone pleasant and with wonderful people skills. Maybe I got the wrong hairdresser, but at this point the damage is done. Never, ever going back.
Update: Its been exactly a week since my haircut and I’ve found little stray uneven hairs all over the place. Thanks for nothing, Todd.

I’ve been Sarah for my hair cuts the past few years, starting when she was at James Madison Salon in Midtown. She recently moved to Dragonfly some six months ago, and I went recently to have my hair cut. I would agree that this salon is maybe not as warm a place as some other salons I’ve been to, but Sarah knows my hair and is always super-​accommodating to me and my hair needs. This is why I followed her to this particular salon. Whenever I need a quick trim, she’s happy to take me in the day of and fix whatever issue I’m having. She is also very good at helping me assess new hairstyle ideas and making them work for me, but also is very honest when she thinks something will not work which I greatly appreciate. Aside from that, she’s just a really cool person and I always have a blast getting my hair cut with her because we talk about anything and everything. It’s like seeing an old friend. I haven’t had any experience with any of the other stylists, and honestly I’m not really one to care so much about people being bubbly and smiley when I go to get my hair cut. I just want my hair to look good, and Sarah does the job every time. Sarah charges $ 65 for a haircut, which I think is kind of a steal for someone of her skill level. She just knows what she’s doing and I never feel scared to be sitting in her chair. Plus, she trained at Vidal Sassoon and was a stylist there for years, and they are known for turning out some of the best precision hair cutters in the industry.
I have yet to try any of the colorists, but I plan to get some color done soon, so I will update once that happens.

finding a stylist to suit your hair AND your personality is no small feat, and after 5 years in Atlanta without someone i could trust 100% to not send me out of the salon with a 1997 Friends-​esque blowout, i was beginning to think it might be impossible…
but enter dragonfly. more accurately, Adriene at dragonfly!
dying for a trim, i walked in on a random afternoon. the stars were aligned because i ended up seeing Adriene and finding the stylist i’d been looking for for so long :) without me having to say so, she knew i wasn’t the bouffant-​blowout type of gal and truly has given me two of my favorite haircuts of all time, and i’ve gotten the compliments to prove it.
everyone else at the salon has been sweet and wonderful as well, very accomodating. absolutely 5 stars!

I went to Dragonfly this past weekend. Though I’m sure the stylists are talented, the salon is lacking in customer service and in providing attention to the PAYING CUSTOMER. My child care options fell through the day before my appointment and I called the salon to ask if it would be OK if I brought my 3 year old with me. They told me «no problem, you can set her up in the waiting area near where you’ll be getting your hair done». I did just that but received attitude for it and no one welcomed me to the salon, thanked me for my business, etc. I was told to move the DVD player and coloring book I had set up for my daughter. She was well-​behaved so it’s not as if she was disrupting the place. I just think they don’t understand that you have to provide not only good hair services but to make their customers feel comfortable and appreciated. I won’t be back.

Dragonfly Salon doesn’t yet feel as though it should belong in Atlanta. It reminds of me of my old hood back in Chicago, or in what used to be the meat packing district in NYC.
Adriene is a great stylist and I highly recommend her. I followed her from her previous salon.

Chaz and Holly are the best! I luv the new salon. It’s cutting edge! :) The space is amazing and I was greeted by David, who is wonderful and attended to all my needs. I recommend this salon to everyone!
