Delta Community Credit Union

I have been with delta community credit union for 26 years. they used to be wonderful… now in the last year they have totally gone down hill… the latest… i use bill pay and have for many years. they have a button now that is new «pay today» and it is in blue right below the payment. its a trick … if you press it charges a 9.95 fee that i did not see. the other button (the one that does not charge the extra fee is in aqua at the bottom (a lot less noticeable)… this is a trick (did i say that already). it took several hours and 4 phone calls to figure out what the fee was (there is no explanation). first they claimed it was not their fee so i called verizon. no verizon said it was not their fee so i called back to the credit union. Oh it is our fee for paying today. they tell me to push the aqua button at the bottom and i did … oh now there is no way to cancel once i push that pay today button. sooo … now i want a refund on the 9.95 fee because it is a trick … now this is a problem since (i am told) this is a third party vendor and they don’t refund (thats their policy) nooo this is on your web site and you are responsible for tricking me. thats bad folks … very bad customer service. now they say that a supervisor will think about it and get back with me on monday. (can’t even solve a problem the same day). i have no idea if i will be refunded for this and i know its only 9.95 but its the point. now i will cancel my bill pay and i am shopping for another bank… so sad (i hate being tricked by companies) you have to watch them.

This particular location was fantastic. I met with a banker named Brandon and he helped me with he cc offer I reviewed since the website was not functioning properly. He even had the card printed there on the spot. Friendly, efficient, and convenient.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I have no idea how or why they are still affiliated with Delta Air Lines. They do not represent the quality service that the airline does. I signed up over two months ago and still have not been able to access anything useful. At this point I refuse to invest any money into the account until they provide better service. It took over two months for me to receive the debit card and still haven’t received the pin. Then they had the audacity to send me a letter saying if I didn’t put $ 5 into the savings it would be canceled. Cancel it you failures! Do dare live outside of Atlanta and expect service either. The reps don’t care if they help or not. They just read the script they’ve been given. When you ask for a supervisor, they get offended. What a horrible extended arm of the fantastic company that i work for. You are better off joining a bank. DCCU is a complete failure.

Sat on hold for 30 minutes today. The last few times I’ve call I was left on hold for 15 – 25 minutes. You’re customer service keeps getting worse.

I have been a member for 20 years. I had always been pleased until the last few years.
It took 6 calls and approx 3 hours to get my credit card sent out after the number was skimmed at the Marta station. That is clearly unacceptable.
I wrote several complaining emails and eventually a lady associated with customer service called me. She explained that during high call volume times or during non business hours, they have outsourced their phone help.
I explained all the problems I had with the card and she was sympathetic. She said they have had many complaints about the call center-​and that the call center doesn’t have the ability to do many of the things that the actual credit union representatives can.
If you have problems-​please file a complaint. Maybe upper management will eventually figure out how much a problem this is becoming and stop doing this outsourcing.
If you call, you should also ask whether you are speaking to a call center rep or an actual DCCU employee. You should just hang up if you get a call center idiot. They are beyond useless!

I have been a member for 28 years. Ive seen good things and bad things here. As many people say, its often getting worse. That is somewhat true I believe. Some of this is the nature of the industry. Some of it is self imposed. They have always been a bit backward in how they operate.
Right now I am waiting for my IRS refund to clear It went in pending. The new phone system takes forever to get a human. Then when you do tget someone they cant do anything. She tells me it would clear in 2 business days. I tell her that was yesterday. Uh oh. well? I get transferred to someone else. Mr someone else says it should clear tomorrow WED, and it went into the acct on Friday. I asked the first agent if these things clear on their own, or do they need human intervention. She says oh they clear on their own. When I point out its been more than enough time she says oh the Branch Manager needs to clear them.? I say ok which branch is my acct assigned to then? She says no branch. I dont think anyones account is assigned to a branch. Then I get transferred to someone else who has a new story. So I wait. Maybe it will clear tomorrow. We will see.
They seem to take lots of time to do these things to protect themself while YOU wait. TWICE in 28 years I had to take money out and go elsewhere to do real estate transactions done because they had to just sit on it. My transactions would have not happened had I had to wait and wait as they wanted. I had to go elsewhere! Even tough I worked at Delta and had been a member for years they wanted to sit on my Charles Schwab check that I needed to buy a house. This was back in 1996 before all the scams with certified checks. So I had to take the check to Bank South where I had been an account holder for only a few months and they did what needed to be done to get the money into escrow. This credit union couldnt. As if I was going to cut and run? Please! I complained to high levels, and they changed the rules to prevent his from happening in the future. They made a KNOWN list of major brokerages that if someone sold funds to pay for a house like this not to hold these companies checks. All were KNOWN big companies. Good I thought! Raising hell worked! They put a list out for the tellers. However within a short time… cant say how long, all that seemed to be forgotten.
I also needed to pay a company that ONLY took debits from your checking account. They were overseas! Oh my, warning flags go off all over. Im NOT going to give my checking acct out for something like this no way!!! I ask to open a second checking acct so I can place only the amount needed in there so they couldnt grab all my money. Oh no… just one per customer. I ask do you want me to compromise a 26 year old checking account and put it at risk? She tells me to write a letter to the CU and explain why I need it. I did. Nothing happened. SO I go to another credit union on my street. They comp the $ 5 fee to join, and open a checking acct immediately. I put in the cash and order the product. Fine. It worked. Over month later I see a new checking acct here. Oh now I have it… but now I dont need it. It was worse than asking for your first born child… geez!
But overall the people are nice, and generally things work if you can put up with stuff like the above. Banks are not faultless either. I have had many a horror story there too. I tend to prerfer credit unions over banks and have closed all my regular bank accounts and only use credit unions now.
IMPORTANT for those that dont know. You can go into ANY credit union and do what you need to do for basic services anywhere. Credit Unions in the USA all use the same system. So your on vacation and need to deposit or get some cash, go in and fill out a slip and list your credit unions name acct and location. They need your ID and last 4 of social sec # and you can use that credit union just the same as if you were in your own branch. I do this all the time. All the tellers know how to do it. Its simple and easy. Your transaction happens in real time in your account. Its great so no matter what credit union you want to use, you can do business there. Makes it so easy if you move, or are not physically where your CU is. It is probably the best reason to be a CU member. Try it and see how easy it is.
One good thing about this CU is the coin counters at certain locations. Go in and dump it in, start it up, and it prints you a receipt. You can then go to the teller and deposit it to your account or get cash. NO FEE.
So…every CU and every bank has its good and bad points. Two other things to keep in mind: 1) If you think your bank is so wonderful because everyone is so nice… most bank tellers are under constant pressure to sell products that are profitable to the bank, and not in your best interest-​beware. 2) Some of your best deals are with brokerages like Fidelity no fee atms worldwide-​they rebate my atm fees.

DCCU has been my credit union for over ten years and I WAS happy with them, but now with the changeover to a supposedly UPDATED website, I haven’t been able to log in in two weeks !! Disgusting, unconscionable, inept technical people on this website! I may be closing my account very soon!

I’ve always liked everything about DCCU. The issue that I have is limited to the recent changes made to accessing accounts online. Since the change/“improvement”, there’s a 50 – 50 chance of being able to log in at all and then the challenge begins all over to get to bill pay.

You’re completely out of your mind if you’re thinking about opening an account or engaging in any banking activity with these people! They are TERRIBLE! I’ve been with this bank when they use to be called Delta Employees Credit Union way back in 1997. When they only serviced employees of Delta, it was amazing! Then after they opened up to the public some years later, it went straight into the crapper!
The customer support… IS TERRIBLE! I mean terrible terrible! After all these years there is not one single representative that has any idea about anything, nor do they sound like they enjoy being there. They mumble words, they are easily confused, and they love to cold transfer when they don’t know jack about jack!
In 2007 my wife and I received a notice that our mortgage payment was passed due; confirming funds had been moved to pay the loan we called the bank. We fought and fought with people who refused to listen to us, and refused to agree that payment was pulled out of our account to make payment on our loan even when it was pulled from a DECU account! Finally I sent a fax, which had big bold black letters threatening attorney general if an investigation was not opened. Within hours I received a call from the bank manager admitting that our payment had been pulled from our bank account and applied to another persons mortgage!
Wife and I immediately opened another account with another bank, moved our entire portfolio out of there. We now just have the mortgage, which I’m about to refinance to end my suffering from this pathetic organization.
I’m actually on hold now with them, been on hold for about 15 minutes. I’m so excited too! The next person I talk to I get to tell them the whole story again on how I received a letter from their company indicating that my mortgage payment is late even though my bank confirms the auto draft payment was applied to the Delta loan, and even Delta’s online banking indicates that the payment was applied. I get to do this over an over again to every idiot I speak to there because, as mentioned at the beginning of this review, they love to cold transfer when they don’t know jack about jack!
The reviews in here from people giving ⁵⁄₅ star are hilarious, either they work for the bank or they are newbies. If you’re new, give it time, you’ll see. Terrible Bank!

They do not show a total of deposit or checks on their bank statement — It is a nightmare. Their statement also DO NOT the number of deposits or checks. Stay away from this credit Union.

I opened an account with them about 2 months ago now. The first payday I start using my debit card to pay bills online. You know places like Verizon Wireless, Western Union for my car payment, my power bill, and a payment to the completely unknown company Blizzard entertainment. So next I proceeded to make a purchase at best buy, except they say my card is declined! So I call the bank and sure enough my card has been blocked for suspected fraudulent use. Not a big deal most banks have fraud prevention, so I go through the 15 – 20 minute process of verifying the transactions and getting the card unblocked with Visa. Then I had to go through this same process the next 3 paydays… while Suntrust I had to do it once, I started to regret leaving Suntrust at this point. Had that been the end I would’ve been ok. But sadly it wasn’t. After the first time I contacted them about the card block I was told that I would have to be transferred to Visa to have the block lifted. The second third and fourth times, each agent assured me that they could do it and then after wasting about 20 minutes would conclude that they had to send me to Visa to have it unblocked… Oh and every time they decided to transfer me I had to reverify all my account information…
I decided that I would use their member to member transfer to send some money to payoff a loan, but that was denied and I had to spend another hour on the phone with them to get them to let me access and use my money as I saw fit. They said that they had too much fraud with the member to member system so they had to restrict the amounts that could be sent between members.
Then I tried the unthinkable crime of trying to transfer some money from this account to my USAA account. One transfer went through with no problem. The second I was assessed a $ 25 courtesy pay fee, which caused the account to overdraft. There was no mention of this fee at all when I started to make the transfer nor when I completed the submission.
When I sent them a request to refund the fee, they responded that until I paid the overdraft fee they wouldn’t be able to refund the fee that caused it…

I have now moved all my bank accounts to USAA, who has been awesome so far.

Used to be a great credit union with great rates and a family atmosphere. Now they are focused more on opening branches than customer needs. No mobile apps, no I-​phone apps, and a subpar webpage. I have been a member since 1998 and I am moving on. A user posted a question on their Facebook page in regards to the mobile banking issues. The reply was that they couldn’t afford an Ipad app or mobile banking material. They don’t seem to have a problem dropping a branch in every city in Georgia now.

Two years plus, after leaving Suntrust and I still love DCCU! My husband and I moved out of state which hasn’t been an issue at all, since I utilize their awesome online deposit system. When my husband and I got married and it was time to consolidate our accounts, DCCU took care of it with no hassle!

I do all my banking with DCCU. Originally I had a mortgage with Chase — refinancing at DCCU was one of the best financial decisions I’ve made. I refinanced the loan again with DCCU to take advantage of the record low rates. A refi is usually a lengthy process, but I was assigned a specialist that helped get it done within about six weeks. I’ll take DCCU over the giant monster megabanks that caused the recession (and got away with billions of our tax dollars in return) any day of the week.

This credit union is great! Hands down they have great customer service, I think I have had 1 issue in 4 years! Every time I contact them on line I get a prompt response & it is always positive & helpful! I love the fact that I get rewards for spending! I live in another state & have other accounts but I will only use Delta CCU!!! You should definitely do business with a credit union v.s. a bank & YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CREDIT UNION!!!

If you are a very traditional all-​transactions-​done-​at-​a-​local-​branch banker, this is your bank, because the locations are super friendly, welcoming and helpful.
If you’re living in 2013, DCCU is a NIGHTMARE. I have a savings, mortgage and line of credit with DCCU. Simultaneously applying for the refinance and the line of home credit was a nightmare. 3 Month process — was working with 6 – 7 people on their end, none of whom communicated with one another. It was a difficult and misinformed process.
Now, I’m seeing more of that same problem being a customer with them. Their website looks great, until you actually log in as a customer. Looks like someone got their 15 year old nephew to design it and development isn’t much better. Hard to find anything and hard to use.
Seriously — I can’t find my way back to managing my bill pay options. You set it up once, and then it’s gone. I wanted to adjust so I can overpay each month, but there’s nowhere to do that. It’s taking the money out so I know it’s active, but nothing shows up under scheduled transfers, so no way to change it.
Mortgage payment? Never got a statement in the mail, due date, or anything. Took it upon myself to set up Bill Pay through my BoA account. It shows on that end, it’s paid, but nothing on DCCU’s end. I called to ask why my payment wasn’t showing up and when it actually is due, I was told he didn’t know why and it was due on the first (that I would have a late fee). I then got something in the mail that said to make sure I pay my payments by the 15^th of each month and to call to set up a payment (after the supposed first due date.)
These people can’t get it together. I REALLY am regretting being stuck with them.

This Credit union is SHADY… As a merchant I am utterly surprised that Delta Community Credit Union, will not verify funds on a large check. You would think it would be in their best interest to prevent a bad check from being passed off to a small business, but NOPE, that is against their policy. Shady and unreasonable.

I use DCCU as much as I can. They have better products, more helpful staff, and less customer-​unfreindly fees than most major branch banks. Basically I trust them with my money, which is saying a lot.
I am glad that they are opening more branches, but it would be nice if they opened another one in Midtown, near Piedmont Park, and expanded their Virginia Ave main office location hours.
Also, I think that they should consider merging with Wings Financial (a similar credit union from the midwest) and I wish they would get an android app soon :)

I came here to make a deposit although I wasn’t a member of this credit union, but for a state CU. The lines moved fairly quickly and they helped me with my deposit with no problems. Also, it’s pretty large in here. It’s located really close to the Airport so it’s located in the right place. A-​ok CU.

Back up 20 years… when I joined, when it was run by Delta Employees and limited to Delta Employees… it was truly members helping members. Had a problem, call the CU and with 5 – 10 minutes at most, your issue was resolved and you usually had a check in hand or a deposit into your account within 24 hours… at most. No fuss, no muss. Repayment was super easy. They got their payment basically before you got paid. This means no late/​missed payments. It WAS a great banking relationship.
Its now 2011. You have to go thru a phone tree to get to a real person… not a real Delta person, but rather a contracted employee. You give them the reason for calling. If you need more than basic information your always are placed on hold so the non-​Delta representative looks up your account which basically translates to «please hold while I talk to a real Delta employee». Fried chicken goes cold while you wait… just like a big bank, not a smaller «family run» banking institution of days past. The «on the spot» resolutions are non existent. Anything that does not fit exact requirements/​criteria gets referred, and you will never receive a follow up phone call as to the outcome. Your previous banking relationship means nothing… They just do not care if you have done $ 75.000+ worth of business in the past, your just now just another number. Their products, especially loan products are no longer competitive to other larger banks or credit unions.
Sorry folks, I call them like I see them. The last year dealing with the DCCU has been about as comforting as dental work without Novocain. Drop them like a bad habit… I did!
