Decatur’s Best Taxi Service

Call way in advance or use Über!!! The call went well, but the two hour wait was ridiculous… No one even follows back up with you either, by then I could have found another way to my destination!!! Thank goodness I have a car, and they made me appreciate that fact even more.
When the cab finally arrived, the driver was professional and efficient… The dispatcher and the person who takes the call needs some training or better communication skills!

I used these guys again after a long break and things seemed to have gotten somewhat better. The drivers, as always, are very nice and typically arrive on time — however, there are still some that don’t know where they are going. The biggest issue I have is the old and outdated credit card process. It takes about 10 minutes to get it done, which consists of the driver having to run the old credit card swipe machine and then call in the numbers of the card over the radio. I would recommend Yellow Cab for service and credit card transactions.

I needed a ride to the Marta at 3:30 and needed to leave my car at home. I called way ahead (like 1:00 or 1:30). 3:30 rolls around, no cab. I give them 5 minutes leeway, then called. I was put on hold for several minutes, long enough to indicate that my cab wasn’t coming and they were scheduling another one. I was told my cab would be there in five minutes, maybe sooner. I waited another 5+ minutes and finally just left in my car. I got a call at 3:50 wanting to know where I was and I was like «Uhm, I needed a cab at 3:30, I already left.» The guy told me I should have toldhim that and hung up rudely.

Called the previous night for a 5:30 pickup and they never came. We called them and they obviously screwed it up, said they’d scramble one over and call us back in 2 mins. They never did. We ended up driving to the airport instead. A pricey alternative as a result of incompetence. Never using these guys again.

It’s no wonder Über and Lift are driving cab companies out of business when you experience Decatur’s Best Taxi. Everytime I use them it is an abysmal experience. I decided to give one last try today but never again.
1) Over 5 min wait time to speak to a dispatch agent.
2) The dispatch agent refused to allow the cab to pick me up at my desired location. I gave her the name of the landmark church at cross street of Decatur’s most major intersection. Commerce and Clairmont. That wasn’t acceptable b/​c I didn’t have an exact address.
3) The cab driver ignored me when I walked up to the cab. I am 9 months pregnant and was carrying multiple grocery bags. He didn’t roll down his window or open the door to the minivan. Then he accused me of taking a long time to get to him. And he wasn’t being funny. He was serious.
4) The cab driver told me I should have had him pick me up across the street at the church and refused to believe me when I told him that the dispatch agent would not allow it.
5) The cab driver only made excuses for the dispatch agent. He never apologized for the poor service of himself or his company.
He could tell I was not happy when he dropped me off and then offered to help me to the door with my bags.
Under no circumstances will I ever use this company again. Checker Cab is a much, much better experience. I am a Decatur resident and I am embarrassed that this is the face of Decatur to visitors.

Every time I ride with Decatur’s «Best» Taxi, I remember why I need to start saving up for a car.

I wish I could give — 5 stars. This summer I wanted to take a taxi to marta to get to the airport. I called the afternoon before to book a taxi for 6am the next day. The person on the telephone was rude, but said it would be there. The next morning I am waiting for the taxi. Once it was10 min late I called them and asked what was going on. They said it would be there in a few min (rude again). After it was 25 min late, called again… Same answer. The taxi got there about 45 min late. The driver never apologized at all, and wasn’t helpful with my bags. I ended up having to run to my gate to make it on my flight that I should have been easily on time to if the driver had been at all on time. Horribly unprofessional. Never using them again.

hands down THE WORST!!!
Don’t call these fools if you
a. live in a black neighborhood.
b. need to be somewhere at a specific time.
in either case, you will be hugely disappoint and or super late.
the problem is that drivers are independent contractors which means in short is, the drivers can choose to or not to pick you up at the specific time. what makes this situation worse is the people dispatching the drivers
a. cannot track there drivers because none of the cars are outfitted with any modern equipment such as GPS.
b. could care less.
this company the very definition of the term «insult to injury». not only will they make you late to work… but they do it with shrugged shoulders and anxious palms waiting to be paid the full price for a halfassed «service».
(i wish i could give them negative stars)

I had to use this service for the days when I didn’t have a ride home from school. They even gave me coupons and I didn’t need many trips so I would call and speak to Carol I think was her name and each month they would calculate how much I was going to have to pay them for one way trips home and they would give me coupons to help with a discount. All in all I would pay $ 15 for a ride home. The drivers were OK and they were never late picking me up. The times were set up ahead of time when the drivers needed to be there. The only time I did have a problem with the cab service was when I was needing a ride from the store or something. Only then was when I would have to wait hours for a cab. Of course I would call back and they’d say «It’ll be there in 15 or so minutes». Never showed up and I would end up hitch hiking home.

God awful! We gave them multiple times to prove they were not absolutely terrible and they proved to be unprofessional and unrealizable each time. We called well in advance to set up a pick up they then confirmed we were good to go and then when it became close we would call to get an eta and they suddenly became busy or they couldn’t get ahold of the driver. The dispatcher would change her story and actually blame us for being late or not showing up at all. So thanks to them, we were late or missed a flight, a concert and a show.
Do yourself a favor and call anyone but these clowns, they obviously don’t care for anyone’s business or standing behind their promises.

I would give them zero stars if I could. It was $ 20 to go 10 miles and I had to use my gps to tell the cabbie where to go. This was after we waited 35 minutes for the guy to arrive after they told me they would be there in 15 min. Terrible service. Oh, and it was 95 degrees out and the taxi didn’t have AC.

We needed a taxi to the Marta station to catch a ride to the airport. I called an hour in advance for a taxi at high noon. The dispacther told me that there was no problem.
12:05 rolled around and the taxi arrived as promised. A clean cab and gentleman driver. He helped us with our bags, and off we went.
We arrived on time to the Marta station without a hitch. Reasonable rate as well.
No complaints here!!!

Decatur’s Worst Taxi Service. Called the customer service line to hail a cab. The staff was extremely rude, and kept sighing on the phone.
I wanted to say,” I’m sorry if you hate your job lady, but a 5 year old could do your job better.” But, I’m too nice to do that.
She also said the taxi would be there sometime in an hour or so. Thanks, but no thanks. I had already heard several bad reviews from you guys. But, this confirmed it.

Roll the dice. With this Decatur taxi service, it’s a crap shoot.
I’ve had good drivers and I’ve had ones who had to hot wire their own taxi just to get me someplace (true story).
Customer service can be iffy, be prepared to wait about 30 mins. no matter what the situation or time of the year.
On the one hand, it’s all we got, on the other, more professional services like Checker Cab Atlanta really stand out.
You also can’t count on service outside of Decatur. It seems hard to get a Decatur’s Best taxi when you are anywhere other than Decatur.
The last couple of times I’ve had to use them, I probably could start a blog about the weird cabbies I’ve gotten. That said, I’ve always managed to make it to my destination. With a little prayer.

It’s always a surprise. The call wait time, the condition of the driver, the happenstance of the vehicle, and the navigational skills of both are all up for chance with this taxi cab company.
More than once I’ve been stuck with drivers who don’t show up on time, have cabs that are falling apart, don’t know where they’re going, and then overcharge me for their feral services.
Then again, what’s my alternative?

Decatur’s Worst Taxi Service:
Okay this happened at Christmastime but immature me still needs some vindication. I am still pissed about this experience.
Needed to get to Marta to catch a flight on Christmas Eve afternoon so called Decatur’s Best, and informed them that I had a flight to catch. They said 15 – 20 minutes. After 45, called and they said «The driver is right around the corner». Called back 1 hour 15 min and they said the driver would be there in 5 minutes. I said should I call another taxi service they said you can if you want to but the driver would be right there.
2 ½+ hours after the first and subsequent angry calls to the operator, who clearly did not give a crap AT ALL and kept lying to me, the driver finally showed up.
Apparently he had been forwarned the I was quite the beyotch so he did not have a thing to say to me and did not even get out of the car to help with luggage, just popped the trunk.
I was nice and talked to him since he did not do anything and he still completely ignored me, no apology from the company or anything.
Missed the plane, grown woman crying in Delta Airlines express help line, was just so frustrated at that point.
Concerned and sympathetic employees gave me free cocktail vouchers and got me on a flight 6 hours later. Finally got to my destination at 12:30am Christmas.
Thanks, Decatur’s Best! You rock!
By the way, I am a fellow Decatur businessowner and always tell my customers all about great experiences when I have them. You give Decatur a bad name.

They allow cats in carriers, which is great for a carless kid like myself with animal friends who have doctor’s appointments. Polite drivers. I’ve had good experiences.
