I went here on a date last night. My boyfriend was the ONLY man in the class but he still had a great time. (such a trooper!) The class was sold out and packed but the instructor did an amazing job of answering all questions and showing everyone what they needed to know for the steps of the project. We were a few minutes late due to inclement weather and god awful traffic but called ahead and checked in in a matter of seconds. The music was alot of fun and upbeat, the crowd around us was a blast.
over all we had a great time. i got online and purchased more tickets. we’ll be back very soon!

I purchased a groupon which made this a very affordable outing. My mom and I had heard great things about places similar to this one so we figured we would try it. Together, we picked a painting that the both of us liked. We chose a cross.
When we got to the studio, we arrived early because it says throughout their website that you are to arrive on time or you won’t be able to participate which makes sense because it is a class full of people and they have a schedule to keep. With that said, we ended up starting at least 15 minutes late because we were waiting on people to arrive. Some didn’t show up until about 30 – 45 minutes into the session.
We started the painting and she had the picture up in the front of the room for everyone to see. It was the same picture as the one we chose online.
The instruction was WAY too slow. We sat around for at least an hour of that 2 hour session doing absolutely nothing. We played a lot of catch up for those that showed up late and the rest of the time was so that the owner could catch up on her emails.
With about 15 minutes remaining in the class, our paintings looked nothing like what the picture online showed. I hoped she was going to add more, but she didn’t. Our final product and the picture were NOT similar at all besides the fact that they were both crosses. I was VERY disappointed. Our end product looked simple and kind of childish. I was hoping to learn to paint something that I couldn’t do just on my own.
I will not go back. I also would NEVER pay the full amount for the class. It was barely worth what I paid.

My experience… well myself and two girlfriends attended the earring making class today to use our Groupon. We actually arrived late today (long story, but GPS was involved). Anyway, we ended up being 20 minutes late for a hour and a half class. In our minds, no biggie, we will do our best to quietly catch up or at least watch and see whats going on. We were mindful of that. I used to make jewelry myself, so I could sort of assist my friends, if needed.
We arrive and the receptionist was rude, not very welcoming… barely greeted us. Basically told us we have three minutes to find beads, they are probably picked over, and we reminded us we were late, but it a nasty tone. And my friends and I are super friendly to just about anyone we meet. Either way, the instructor– same thing. No– Hi, welcome to our class. Again pointed out the fact we are late (no, REALLY???) and try to find matching beads, but everything is probably picked over (which it wasn’t…there were plenty and only two other girls at our table… but, okay). We definitely weren’t looking for extra special treatment or anything, just a simple greeting and a smile… the two were just plain out rude and not helpful in any sort of way.
The class itself was just okay. Based on the looks around the room, there were a others that didn’t look completely satisfied. I think a simpler technique could be demonstrated for first time beaders. Just my two cents. Either way, I don’t recommend this place. Classes are very limited. Also, Groupon or not, people paid to be there. I probably would have been more upset if I paid full price for being treated that way. Those who work there could be much nicer and respectful if they expect to see more returning customers or referrals. I didn’t feel comfortable there and I will be sure to tell others not to go there. There are too many other businesses in Atlanta that provide similar classes with stellar customer service.

Being late was definitely a mistake on my part. However, after being lost– it was either totally miss the class and lose out on our Groupon bucks spent or still attempt to attend. Even when we called earlier, the phone was not answered… which has been stated in previous reviews. In result, we asked others around the area for directions. We agreed that we would rather have you ask us all sit out and watch rather than treat us like second class citizens… especially if we aren’t being disruptive in any sort of way. We did not ask much of you or anyone around us while you taught the rest of the class.
If you do not want late comers, something needs to be visibly stated on your website, in Groupon rules, or even in an automated email after booking. Either way, thank you for answering, I appreciate your response.

I came here with my roommate using a coupon for one of the 3-​hour classes. We had a great time and brought a bottle of wine (each) with us. Unless you have trouble seeing all the way to the front, I recommend sitting towards the back of the class for two reasons — having an empty table behind you provides a safer area for your purse (i still managed to get paint on mine) and booze, plus, you can watch everyone else paint from your vantage point in the back. Part of the fun for me was watching how everyone’s paintings developed.

I wanted to write a review since the other reviews are so varied. We purchased a Half Off Depot coupon and it was very simple to make the reservation. All I had to do was email the company w/​my name and voucher. I asked for a confirmation and did receive one (the morning of the class). Oh well. I was going to show up anyway.
The instructor started ontime and did not make us feel rushed. She showed us the steps and which brushes to use. Her intro sounded like it was recited from memory though as she said we received a piece of paper to mix our colors and she was refering to the butcher paper on the table. This confused me since it was my first time at one of these places.
I also felt that she did not use the same brushes as the ones used in the original. The original’s lines were much thinner than mine and I didn’t like the way my painting turned out w/​the thicker lines. But I live and learn and know I am not an artist but someone wanting to go out and have some fun.
I asked my friend what she thought of the place as we were leaving as she has been to a competitor. Her comment was this instructor did not put her heart into the job — just as I had commented above.
All in all — we had a good time and that is what counts. Am I a budding artist? No! Will I go back if I get another coupon — yes!

Creatively Yours Cocktails & Canvas used to be named Cocktails and Canvas, but the owner said the name was switched d/​t copyright issues. So, for all you Foursquarers be advised it will show as the latter on check– ins.
As far as the event the normal price is $ 35 for a painting lesson, which I think is ridamndiculous for some paint and canvas on an easel. However, the owner offers a Meetup perk (if you are part of a Meetup group) and local deal sites have up to 50% deals. That being said, if you can find a deal this is more than worth it.
As far as the space it is in Brookhaven in a cool little hidden section with urban living, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. So, there is plenty to do and see before and after you paint.
I would suggest you sit up close so that you can see what the instructor is doing, and make sure you brink your own snacks and utensils because only the paint, brushes, and canvas will be supplied.
Also if you were raised in the early 80s and early 90s you will be pleasantly surprised b the music that plays as background noise. While we were painting we got to rock out and booty pop to a nice little varied mix.
This is most definitely a do for a date night or girls night out.

I am not sure if this is even a review– I never even made it to the place. I attempted to call and reserve a spot for my friends bday and the owner was SUPER RUDE! She refused to assist me and kept directing me to the website. She was VERY, VERY SHORT and rude. I will never spend my money at a place so unprofessional. I heard about paint and dab– i will go there for the experience.

I went here yesterday for my girlfriend’s Selena’s 40^th Birthday event and we had a BLAST!!! Tara, our instructor, was super cool and really did a lot for our ego. I will come here again and again. Picasso Who!?! Watch out because I got the painters bug now.

Its been a while since I did a Good, Bad, and Ugly!
Good. The $ 12 Living Social coupon gave us the opportunity to try this place and we’ve been wanting to do this since last July. While this isnt something I would spend up to $ 40 on, I would do it again in a heartbeat for $ 12. A great time was had by all. We didnt have any issues using our Living Social coupon and acutally was part of a group of people that waited til the very last day of the coupon to finally viisit. We knew ahead of time to bring our own wine glasses, and that snacks were allowed, so… we did… and had a nice Sunday brunch.
Bad…so being from Atlanta, I hate having to use mapquest or gps a place. Normally if you tell me oh… its jus pass the Micky D’s or other landmark I can find a place much easier. So I called the location this morning just to pinpoint where exactly I was going, NO ONE ever answered the phone. I called pratically up til I was pulling myself in the parking lot… and still NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE. Also… I know that its suppose to be a do it yourself project, but the staff seemed not willing to help. I will admit that one of my guest started her painting over from the very beginnin about halfway thru our session, but even before then… they didnt seem very warm about answering questions, mostly just demo’ed what she did in front of the class and then walked towards the back repeating the directions as if we were all a bunch of art students and would figure it out ourselves… which…I guess most of us did.
Bad (a)-Also, my daughter spilled her paint card on her purse, and the lady handed me two rags and said, get as much off as you can… u might want to wet a paper towel. While I didnt expect her to stop the whole class because of the spilled paint, I thought it woulda been nice if she seemed a little concern.
UGLY-​Parking. My lawd… get there early… I was 5 mins late, and I had to park almost a block and a half from the place, which made me 10 mins late. Again… I thought the staff could have been a smidge more helpful in making sure you understood what «inky» and «rolling strokes» meant. Maybe they were pissed because I was late, but hey… it wasnt my idea for the GADOT to do construction on the highways the same day as the Publix Marathon was being held.
Overall, we had a good time, killed two and half bottles of wine, spent a Sunday afternoon exploring our creative side, and at the end, everyones paiting was a reflection of their spirit, and an outlet for just being your own self in paint.

My experience at Cocktails and Canvas was nothing short of wonderful.
Like many others, I’d taken advantage of the Living Social voucher, but it all was handled beautifully — in my opinion. I followed the instructions to email my date request to Taryn and received a confirmation back within an hour that I was registered. When I arrived I simply handed them my voucher and I was off to paint. Easy peasy.
Of course I picked Cupcake Night, as this would obviously be the most appropriate art for my home. LenoxCupcakes was there with mini samples and, while I don’t even eat my own cupcakes, I knew I had to try the competition. Eh. But that’s another story for another day.
Taryn did a great job instructing the group on how to create our masterpieces and they seemed to be running a pretty efficient operation. Everyone was having a really good time, the music was loud and a decent mix and it was a lot of fun.
This place is perfect for a Girls Night Out, since you can bring your own wine (don’t forget your cups!). I’ll be going back for sure.

My neighbor snagged a Groupon deal for us as a birthday gift to me back in the summer but we didn’t get around to using it until December. Mind you, I am in no way, shape or form any kind of artist. Drawing a stick man is the apex of my skill level. But at Cocktails and Canvas, you can really stink at using a brush and still come out with a pretty good painting!
You do have to provide your own snacks and beverages, which is fine because I’d rather have something I really want to eat/​drink than have to make do with something that I might not want.
The place was wall to wall women (save one male who was with his girlfriend and was very artistically talented) and it was a bit noisy. The easels were not the most stable and at one point, my neighbor’s easel collapsed and knocked onto the person on the other side of the table. But it was not a big deal.
Aside from those things, we had a great time painting a portrait of Santa. Fortunately, a very basic light pencil outline had been drawn on the canvas in advance or I would have been lost without a map. My neighbor said the previous time she went, they did not do this.
There was not much direction given, I will say, but for the picture we were painting, not a lot was needed. It was also fun to add your own personal touches, like the snowflakes I added to the green background. One woman added sunglasses to her Santa. I did find that as I drank more wine, I cared less if I had a smudge here or there! In the end, my Santa came out very cute and I’m looking forward to hanging him up every Christmas.
The best part of it all, really, was getting to catch up with my friend and trying something new that was out of my comfort zone. I would definitely try this again if they were featuring a picture that wasn’t too technically difficult.

From their name, you would think they offered cocktails or at least cup to pour your own in, but they offer neither. It’s really crowded. The instructor goes step by step but it’s very impersonal — the instructor uses a microphone headpiece. It was also very rushed. They give you 2 or 3 hours, depending on what class you take, leaving you barely any time to chat or suck down some two-​buck-​chuck. They’re practically turning the lights off after 2 hours. But it was fun and unleashed my deeply buried artistic side.
This is a good event for girls night out. Good, not great.

Drinking and painting do mix after all. Especially if you drink a lot, then the painting gets especially interesting by the time you reach the third hour of instruction.
This is a BYOB type of establishment where would-​be artists bring eats and drinks in to a painting class.
The location near Brookhaven is easy to get to and has ample parking around the back. The class I took was filled to capacity with people of every sort of skill level – beginners like me, to artists who branched out on their own, beyond where the assignment was taking us. The teacher makes it very easy to follow instructions and construct the various components of the painting, minimizing non-​artist anxiety.
One tip, go to their website (
) and check the calendar to see what the schedule of paintings looks like. That way, you’ll be able to coordinate your schedule with a painting that you’ll actually be interested in completing.

Was really looking forward to this. Grabbed a bottle of wine and a couple of friends and headed to the Brookhaven location. Parking was a nightmare, which isn’t their fault. Shocked to walk into a room crammed wall to wall with 80 – 100 people and a «teacher» on a microphone. We were seated 8 to a table, which was really only big enough for 6. Barely enough room for our canvases, much less paint. The «teacher» led us through a hurried painting, explaining very little. She frequently forgot to turn the music down before talking so we missed a lot of what she was saying. We were basically so frustrated after an hour that we almost left. But we stayed the full 2 hours, only to be left wishing we’d never wasted our money.
Will NOT go back.
Will NOT recommend to a friend.

I really enjoyed myself! It’s a really great place to enjoy cocktails with friends… and get some great art out of it.
I was a little sad that we didn’t really have much time to do the bg image like how it was posted on the calender online… but I went ahead and did it anyways. I just really enjoyed how the painting looked online.
It’s a great place for a girls evening, mother/​daughter type of thing, bf/​gf date… really fun.
Just be prepared to feel a little rush…

Get the girls, grab some wine and have a great time expressing your creativity no matter how much you have or don’t have!

Had a ton of fun attempting to paint at cocktails and canvas this week. Went to the class with girlfriends and had a great time besides the fact that our collective paintings looked rather sad. Would like to do again when the painting is cute! It’s a fun experience and would recommend trying it out!

I was extrreeemely skeptical of my painting abilities and how similar I would be able to paint like the instructor.
Turns out, miracles can happen :)
Apparently I can paint a LOT easier when I’ve had a few glasses of wine in me, BYOB style… I can dig it! Groupon made it even better by pricing it at $ 10 for a 2 hour session. If you don’t have a groupon, be prepared to fork out at least $ 25. But I can say (at least for myself), I would easily hand over that amount for the level of FUN I had tonight. It was wonderful!!!
I’m going again VERY soon. I would highly recommend this place as more of a «group» vibe. Still, they were extremely efficient and I may be the new picasso.

I went here last Friday night with a group of girlfriends to do some painting and drink some wine. We had a great time!
I was immediately impressed by the expediency of their check-​in process. They were clearly ready for people, and ready for Groupon-​carrying people, and were able to hustle everyone right in. Once inside, we chose are stations. Each station had a canvas on an easel, brushes and cups of water for rinsing. We were given a little cardboard palette which we used to hold the paint we each squirted out from the giant ballpark-​style ketchup and mustard containers that held the paint, and we each grabbed an apron from the back (dress casual when you come here — you don’t want to get paint on your nice clothes).
Once the instruction started, there was actually a lot more work and a lot more focus on painting than I expected. I mean, we still could drink our wine and chat, but we were kept busy. There were a few breaks sprinkled in, necessitated by the need to let our paint dry before painting the next thing. On the first break, we had to change out our water and they very efficiently had new cups of water waiting for us so we just handed someone our dirty water cup and they handed us a new clean one. I appreciated the efficiency. The instructor gave detailed step-​by-​step instruction and stayed a few steps ahead of most people to make sure no one was sitting and getting bored or overworking their paint.
I love my art! They seem to have about 30 or 40 different paintings that they use as projects which you will attempt to replicate in class. You can, of course, add any embellishment or interpretation to your painting as you see fit. Check their website to see which painting they are using on which date, and also see if a class is open and/​or sign up for the one that interests you. The price was very reasonable and it makes a great activity for a girls’ night out, or just a night when you want to do something casual and fun. There is plenty of parking behind the shopping center and my favorite Yoforia is one shop over!

I attended my first Cocktails & Canvas class last night and immediately knew this would not be my last visit. A friend of mine and I purchased the Groupon for this and decided to go together to give it a try. Not only did we have a really, really fun time, but we also learned a lot. I am the least artistic person EVER and was a bit worried that, even with guidance, my painting would look terrible. I cannot tell you how pleasantly surprised I was of the result. Me… an «artist?» Say it ain’t so! The owner, Taryn, taught the class and was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Everything is painted step by step, so it is easy to follow along. She teaches you techniques along the way and offers plenty of tips and guidance. Be careful not to fall behind or you may feel a little lost, but don’t worry, you’ll catch up and will be fine. Don’t worry if your painting is not perfect, either. It’s YOUR own unique painting and is not meant to be perfect. Just have fun with it!
We brought our own bottle of wine and a few snacks plus our own glasses for the wine (solo cups, ftw!). I noticed others had done the same — some brought actual wine glasses. Cocktails & Canvas had a cork screw thankfully — we forgot ours.
I would highly recommend this to the ladies looking for a fun «girls night,» to couples (there were a lot of guys there!!) — I’m planning to bring my boyfriend sometime, to moms & daughters (I believe under the age of 18 you have to have a parent present… there was a mom/​daughter pair last night and I thought it was a really cute and fun mother/​daughter occasion), or really anyone looking to paint but doesn’t really know how. There was an older gentleman there, actually a local rock artist, and he was just there by himself and having a great time painting a funky guitar painting. I thought that was right up his alley. Really, this class would be fun for anyone.
Cannot say enough good things about this place… so I’ll quit talking and let you all go see for yourself.
One final note: parking is a little tough, it’s a small lot behind the building and we had to search for parking… so I highly recommend you get there early!!!
