Castleberry Inn

This place is a nightmare! It’s like the Bates motel with extra dirt. Yes it’s cheap but you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere. There is no type of room service & yes you have to pay for the razor, toothbrush any other item any other REAL hotel would provide. It has stolen soaps from the Clarion hotel chain & the people are very rude! That continental breakfast is a bagel, juice, milk, and the news spewing all of the bad happening around you. The beds were dusty & dirty! I can’t tell you how FILTHY this place is. Don’t let the prettier pix fool you as those were posted of another establishment and posted by Castleberry. It’s not nice at all. The walls are smoke covered and yellow & there were dead spiders in the corner! There were some one else’s pubes left in the tub so we did not get in it until we OURSELVES cleaned it, absolute disappointment. You’re a drive away from downtown Atlanta & all of the fun accept for the Burger King across the street. Beware and DON’T GO HERE. Scary!

Castle Berry is of course one of the cheaper hotels… So you get what you pay for. Me and my crew isn’t that needy so it was perfect for our stay downtown while we were attending a music festival. My favorite part were the workers! Helpful and super nice!

This hotel does not and is not worthy of even a single star. Myself and family checked into here and all seemed nice from the outside appearance and even the lobby looked ok. The real adventure was when we got to the elevator which was about to fall apart then got off on the third floor and just about passed out from the horrific and intolerable smell of weed in the hallways. I honestly believe Cheech and Chong we’re parting with Willie on this floor. If your into that kind of thing. It smelt so bad. Then we got into our room and it smelt the same way and the bathroom was locked shut from the inside, thus maintenance had to come and unlock. Afterward we started to inspect the room for creatures and found black specs just like pepper under the mattress and other non-​mentionables. By this time we decided to go to the lobby and inform the staff that we were not going to be staying the night or the weekend like we had plan with them. She was nice but did ask why and I informed her about all the above. She came back and stated that they had a no refund policy and even though we would not be staying we would still have to pay since we did not provide them a 24 hours notice. I disagreed and told them my credit card company could deal with it. We ended up driving 12 miles away and staying near the airport and a nice little area off the interstate with tons of stores and restaurants but most of all a clean hotel. I would not wish this hotel upon anyone. If you would like a cheap place to stay in downtown this is for you but remember you get what you pay for. Good luck!

We stayed here for the SEC Championship game… Bama vs Florida (ROLL TIDE). We got the tickets last minute so I had to find something quick. I booked this hotel, and when I did I spoke with Ebony on the phone. She was sweet and attentive and got me booked in no time. I was happy… then I started reading the reviews. Needless to say, I was less than excited to come here. When we got here, I was pleasantly surprised. I’m used to staying in places such as the Crowne Plaza and the like, so I know what a good hotel is. This hotel is older, but our room (King Suite) was clean, smelled fresh, and was exactly what we needed for our short stay. It’s completely within an easy walk to the GA Dome, and I have a bad back. I would definitely stay here again if ever coming in to town for a short stay. Thanks to the staff for being friendly and attentive!

Trouble checking in– gave us the wrong room. Carpet throughout the entire place is dirty or ripped. Carpet inside the room with stained and clearly not vacuumed. We found a cockroach in the room and m&m under our bed. Not to mention the mold growing from the ceiling.

This is one of the nastiest places I’ve ever stayed, I came on my birthday weekend, online it looked okay and I’ve been to the restaurant next door which has really great food and so I was thinking that this place would mirror it, boy was I wrong, let’s start with the bathroom, not enough towels, mold in the shower, and the overwhelming smell of pee and cigarettes, the carpet was disgusting, the beds were just horrible, the staff were actually very nice, when I asked for more towels they gladly gave me more, but no toothpaste or toothbrush you would have to go the vending machines to buy, free breakfast in the morning which was fine, didn’t eat it though, went down the street to no mas cantina (I think) and had the best breakfast, so overall save your money go to a Hilton or even the holiday inn there rooms have gotten better something because this isn’t worth it

This place is pretty shady. From the lobby, it look really nice and modern. They clearly redid this area recently, and made it look more like an upscale maybe mid-​range hotel.
But once you get in the elevator, it becomes very clear that it’s not true. The elevator is very old, and doesn’t seem all that trustworthy. Then you get to your floor… and things start to feel unsafe.
It is like an old apartment building that police stake out every weekend. Luckily we were only going to be in the hotel for about 5 hours. So we just needed somewhere we could lay down for that long (and hopefully not get bed bugs)
The staff however, was extremely nice and helpful. Even made us coffee on our way out at 6am, even though breakfast doesn’t start til 7.

Castleberry Inn is a cheap hotel with cheap prices and is amazingly close to the Georgia Dome. This is why I chose to stay here. I wanted to spend as little money as possible and be able to walk to the Falcons game. This inn is 0.7 miles from the dome!
The quality of toiletries, the matress, the food, the décor, and the tiny tv, are all exactly what I expected… Cheap. We got what we paid for. They offer a continental breakfast and it is also cheap; cereal, toast, and bagels are the extent of the cheap selection. My favorite part of the stay was the pillows. The pillows were pretty comfortable. Plenty of parking, also.
The staff were kind, but also had a cheap feel. They offered none of the, ‘what can I do to make your stay here as amazing as possible, sir’ attitude that better quality facilities do.
If you want somewhere that looks, feels, an IS cheap, you’ve found it. Can’t beat the location for football fans.

and the rating was poor so I knew what I was getting into. The rate was under $ 100 a night and since we wouldn’t be in the hotel much I figured that this was a safe bet.
The neighborhood is not spectacular. Even during the day you shouldn’t be walking around by yourself. Our taxi dropped us off after midnight and the night auditor checked us in no problem. The lobby is beautiful, recently redone, like a higher end hostel in Europe. Once you leave the lobby, it’s like you’re going back in time. Our room was old. and musty but appeared to be clean. I had heard about bugs in the room, we only had two spiders on our last day.
The room had a refrigerator and a microwave as well as a flat screen TV. Everything worked while we were there. The bed was a tad bit uncomfortable but I like a firm mattress anyways. We did not eat the breakfast, it looked like the basics. We did eat out of the vending machine one night and everything we ate was fresh and within the expiration date. The Wi-​Fi only works in the lobby FYI.
This place is within walking distance of the Georgia Dome/​Aquarium/​College Football Hall of Fame. There is NOT much to eat around here at all so be prepared to take a cab or walk to get some decent food. We called a cab the morning we left and they took care of everything. The service was fine, the quality of the room was not. I would stay here again for a quick trip or if I was trying to save some money.

The only good things about this place was:
1. Its close to the conventions
2. The staff was very nice
The bad:
1. Not clean… at all.
2. The Continental breakfast was bad. Old. Not fresh.
3. Vending machines were empty.
4. Uncomfortable bed. Mattress was like 30 years old.
5. No hangers in the closet
6. No chair in the room. Only a bed and desk.
7. Pretty dirty. Floors, walls, bathroom, etc.
Wouldn’t stay again.

I left my laptop in the room and it was stolen out of the room. The beds are hard. There were bugs. The minute I saw an any I left.

when I visited Atlanta. The price was decent and parking was free, which was a bonus given the fact that every other hotel nearby charged $ 30 for parking. The staff at the reception was very helpful but the hotel needs some updating. The carpets were old and smelled bad. The room had a microwave and a fridge but had weird smell. I looked around everywhere afraid I’d find roaches but didn’t thankfully. The towel was stained or dirty. Couldn’t really tell. Other than that it was not bad for one night. The shower was nice and hot and had a powerful jet. Free continental breakfast also included.

…the floor above me creaks as the resident on the second floor strides across their floor; simply, this place blows ! I HAD to book it — there wasn’t another place to stay while I was in town for a convention. The room is something out of a friggin Tarantino film, it’s NOT clean, and the neighborhood surrounding this crime scene motel hell is the backlot for History Channel’s Gangland series ! It looks NOTHING like the web portrays it, and I feel angry, cheated and frigging STUPID for not checking Unilocal FIRST ! —-DO NOT STAY HERE ! —- (*one bright point, the front desk girl was friendly & helpful — it’s NOT her fault this place is a dump). * I survived the night ! One of the creepiest noise — filled nights I’ve ever experienced; it’s 0639 and I’m OUTA HERE ASAP !

I checked into the Castleberry Inn, in Atlanta, to attend a conference. As I approached the location, I became worried because the neighborhood was kinda scary… graffiti and broken windows and a wino slowly crossing in front of us caused some concern about where we were headed. Nonetheless, as we approached the Castleberry the exterior and the lobby looked exactly like the pictures, nice, pleasant and modern so we checked in. So much for first impressions…
As we went up to our room, the rank odor of marihauna in the hallway followed us into our room. The room appeared to be clean and neat, but closer inspection of the bed showed that the mattress was paper thin, the uncovered box springs appeared to be from 1966, and we found an unidentifiable stain on one sheet. By this time we were feeling pretty disgusted. While checking the area for another hotel, my friend went into the bathroom to wash her hands. There were burn marks on the toilet and then the entire faucet knob fell apart in her hands! OK! That was the deal breaker we were out of this dump!
We had been in the room approximately 45 minutes searching the web for another hotel. Confirmation in hand, we went to the lobby and requested a refund. To our chagrin, after expressing our dissatisfaction, the desk clerk told us there was nothing wrong with the room! We insisted on leaving but was told we could not receive a full refund, that we had to pay for one night! The manager was not available for two days and she could not give us any corporate information to lodge a complaint.
We left and returned two days later because we wanted a full refund. The manager, Geneva Brooks, told us we could not receive a full refund because we were in the room for 45 minutes and that the fulfills their policy for a night stay. She further stated to us that the hotel is commonly used for, «people to come in, do their business, I.e., have sex, then leave!» She repeated to us several times that this was a frequent occurrence,“it happens all the time”, which is why they have a 25 minute policy for full refund.
We pointed out the the «25 minute policy» is neither posted nor was it communicated to us when we checked in. She refused to give corporate or owner information as she was «solely» responsible for decisions made at the establishment. Bottom line we were charged $ 85 for our 45 minute stay, but she did offer us a free night should we decide to stat that night! We quickly reminded her of the reasons we left in the first place AND that her offer was basically covering the night we had already been charged for! Really???
Unless you can «do your business» in less than 20 minutes, I’d recommend that you find some other place in Atlanta to stay.

For what I needed… (just a place to crash for one night) Castleberry was just fine. I found a deal on Priceline and booked it through the website. I saw a few mixed reviews but decided to give it a shot.
Since we were getting in late I wanted to give them a call to let them know. I tried calling probably 7 times before I gave up. No one answered and my call kept getting looped around to the main menu. Not sure what that was about…
But I was able to check in just fine around midnight without any problems. The lobby and main areas out front are really nice and they offer FREE parking (big plus) with an overflow lot too. They have security outside and I noticed they walked around too, so I felt fine leaving the car there.
Once we got to the second floor, there was a strong unmistakable smell of marijuana. Like a punch in the face. Our room was fine, decent sized with a king sized bed and a normal bathroom. However, the walls are PAPER thin and we could hear the TV next door clearly while we were in the bathroom and people moving up and down the halls (probably trying to find the party with the weed). They also boasted free wifi but we had trouble getting on the network. If we had stayed longer we would have sorted that out, but it wasn’t a big deal.
This is not a «nice» hotel by any means, but it was significantly cheaper than anything else I could find that wasn’t a complete dive, so I was ok with it. Anything even close to a reasonable price in the area was significantly more plus you had to pay for parking and internet.

I have never checked out of a hotel early until coming here. If you enjoy hard beds, hearing everything going on around you and static TV reception, this hotel is for you! I however couldn’t get any sleep. At all. Oh, and it took four people to figure out how to turn the water in the tub into a shower. Yeah. The main lobby has been remodeled, but the rest has been untouched. Don’t let that fool you…

Its nothing fancy, but it was clean. We saw 2 rooms because the first room had an adjoining door so we switched and both were nice and clean. The entire hotel is smoke-​free, but the elevator had a weird smell to it. We stayed in a King size deluxe room and the bed was HUUUGE. The front desk staff were nice and friendly. There were not many channels on the tv and some were not working properly, but we were not there to watch tv. If you want somewhere cheap to crash or get away for a night, this is it.

I was in town recently for business and had pre-​booked my two night’s stay at this hotel. I have to say, that I encountered one of the rudest, my disrespectful front desk agents, I have ever come across. The agent, whose name is Keisha, made my short term stay so incredibly difficult and unenjoyable.
I will never stay at this hotel every again and highly advise again anyone else thinking about staying there.
The only good part about this place is that there is a lovely restaurant next door, in which the staff were very friendly.
It really pays to have helpful, happy and friendly staff at any venue. It’s such a shame that this hotel does not follow those guidelines.

Okay last year on March 14,2008 I was one of the Atlanta residents affected by the tornado. From March 15 – 17 2008 I WAS LIVING IN A RED CROSS SHELTER. WELL let’s just say that SUNDAY I was relieved, Castleberry inn and housing authority made me feel like a kid all over.
We was offered free stay until we found a apartment.
Moving along, so we went in and it was interesting. At first im like wow, this look so nasty & ghetto. (at the time they was renovating the place). The staff was A1, the rooms were clean, the tub was also clean. Only thing I hated was the bootleg cable.
It’s close to Marta, very convenient to the colleges, west end mall, Georgia dome.
AND THE BEST THING ABOUT IT. IT’S NEXT TO PASCHALS YUM YUM YUM Paschals
