If you are searching for wood (local or exotic) to build just about anything out of, this is the place. Richard, the owner (purchased the store from the original owner Carleton McLendon) is just wonderful and SOOOOOO kind and knows just about all there is to know about wood. I am an Interior Designer and I have build many floating/​contemporary countertops out of slabs of Carleton McLendon’s wood, as well as gorgeous coffee tables and floating benches and shelving. I have also met craftsmen in the shop that make guitars our of the wood from Carletons, and others making cabinetry etc. It’s a madhouse of creativity up in Carletons and I would stop by just for a look if you’re in the neighborhood (across the street from Antico Pizza… who has one of the largest teak slabs known in the US… they use it to roll out there awesome dough… and guess where it came from? Carleton McLendon… PS– this teak slab use to be a prayer table in India)!
