Stopped in for dessert, great choice. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. The drink options and menu looked good as well, but we had already had dinner.

Intermezzo has transitioned to the Carnegie Bar and Grill. Gone is the giant expresso handbook and vast array of cakes. They still serve coffee drinks, but it has downgraded to your typical coffee drinks. Desserts are also limited. Sad.

I can’t really comment on the food or drinks, although I heard it was good I wouldn’t be able to tell you since the server completely ignored me. I went in, and was seated outside. I was told the server would be right with me. I looked at the menu and picked out a drink(and what a nice drink menu they do have). Had several servers pass me several times. Although I waved and flailed my arms to get their attention, they ignored me. After twenty minutes of being ignored, I went inside and asked if I they forgot me. The greeter apologized and said she’d get the server for me. I saw her inside speaking to a server. After 10 minutes, still no server. As I was about to get up and leave, the manager(I think) came out and apologized and said she’d comp my bill 20%, and the server would be right with me. 10 minutes after that, still no server. Finally a server came outside and walked past me and took the orders of the table behind me. Finally, after 45 minutes of sitting there and being completely ignored, I got up and left. It was funny because there were 3 employees hanging out right inside the door chatting and had pretty much been there the whole time. Way to go… To hell with Café Intermezzo! Honestly not surprised reading through the reviews here that other people have found the service awful as well.

Very disappointed. Negatives: No host/hostess to greet or seat us… with sign clearly stating please wait to be seated. Restaurant was very empty only about 6 people there before us. Encouraged to seat ourselves by another patron and only then did someone appear to seat us. Notified waitress that this was our first time here… no info offered regarding recommendations or general restaurant info. Given old dirty wrinkled paper menus. Table not very clean. still had stuck on food… eww! Looked around and noticed several of the tableclothes were stained. Walls and windows dirty. My coke was in a dirty glass. Ordered gyro and it barely had any meat and it was way overpowered by the goat cheese… could only tolerate eating half of it. Didn’t get to try any desserts or specialty drinks… was just ready to go after all of this had occurred. Positives: My hubby enjoyed his hamburger and stated it was rather tasty and the potato chips were good, but he stated that he would probably never return.

I like the location, I love the décor and ambiance. I fully expected to have a four-star experience. I did not. When we were sat the tabletop had food stuck to it. The waiter disapeared for most of our visit and he had no suggestions or and little knowledge of the menu. I decided to keep it simple, because this was not going well, and ordred a coffee with kahlua. For some reason, they came separately. Both of us ordered crepes. The banana and Nutella was a big, dry, chocolatey mess. The spinach and artichoke filling was delicious, but the crêpe itself was also dry. I have to admit, I will be back again and hope to change this rating. It is a beautifully decorated, laid-back, reasonably priced, conveniently located restaurant. Can’t overlook that.

I really wanted to give this place a four star rating. The coffee was excellent and the place had an awesome vibe. When we arrived it was pretty dead so we were seated promptly and our waiter came right over. At first he was very attentive, friendly and helped us with suggestions from their large coffee menu. After we received our coffee the place started to get a little busier and this is where it all went down hill. Once other tables came in there were ordering full meals our waiter never stopped by our table once. It was almost like he was deliberately avoiding our table. When he would walk past our table he would avoid eye contact! I was looking forward to trying one of their many cakes they have on display but our waiter never came over and I gave up on that. In the end the inattentive wait staff is what made me give this place a two star. If they had just taken an extra two minutes to come over to our table and see if we needed anything else I would have had no problem giving them the four stars.

I love the ambiance. The food on the other hand… ehhh… I mean, it just very«par». Nothing really to get me excited. I just ate at the counter and left. Really wanted to have a good food experience but sadly it wasn’t there.

I love Café Intermezzo. I’ve been to this location, and the one on Peachtree in Midtown/Buckhead a few times, and I always enjoy myself. Their cakes are to-die-for, but, more often than not, I’m here for one of their divine cocktails. I LOVE the«Paris on Fire.» But just to mix things up, after a Unilocal event tonight, I got an Irish coffee. That was delicious, too. Anyway, it was a quiet Monday evening and 6 ladies came to the downtown location, got seated immediately with a very friendly waiter, who took us on a ‘tour’ of their cake display case. I didn’t get any cakes, I was just too, too preggo with a food baby from an earlier meal, but apparently the«Neopolitan» and the«B52» cakes are amazing. So next time, I’ll come here thirsty with an empty stomach with room for cakes. Great service and the ambiance is just great for intimate conversations with a group of women or maybe a date. I plan on coming here again, next time I’m in the area.

Came here last night because I was looking for a late night dessert place… luckily, they are open until midnight even on weekdays. I’ve frequented the location up in Buckhead, and so had a good idea about their desserts and drinks and was hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, a lot of little things went wrong, including: 1. Table that we were sat at was slightly dirty, as in water stains from previous water glasses 2. Service was slow. Took a long time to get any attention, took longer to get ahold of any napkins, plus the guy had a shaky hand… the mocha that we ordered ended up sloshing around on the handle. 3. The drink we ordered — a café mocha, I believe — was advertised by our server as being one of his favorites. What a sore disappointment — it was too cold, and I could have achieved the same taste at home by mixing Swiss Miss and water. No coffee flavor at all! Cakes are good though, the B52 is always good to try. What I didn’t appreciate though, was receiving a slice of cake that wasn’t a perfect triangle. I’m usually not picky, If I’m paying that much money for a slice I want my food to be perfect.

Came here for dessert only late one evening. They had an amazing selection in the display and I loved my oreo cheesecake. Our server gave us a lot of attention and helped us out-of-towners figure the menu out.

I was wandering around looking for a place to read when I stumbled upon CI. It seems this day they were shooting a movie so it was nice people watching while looking up from my studies. Christina was my server and she was polite and helpful. The table by the window was small and a little wobbly which resulted in the glass vase dropping then shattered all over the floor. *sorry* Ordered some tea from a very large selection, it was good. I wanted iced sweet tea which they did not have so she brought me hot tea and multiple glasses of ice. I did not try the desserts or food seeing as I previously ate but the table next to me seemed to have a dish that smelled great. It was a nice place to get reading done.

This place did not live up to the hype. If you work downtown, particularly on Peachtree Street, you know how insanely excited everyone gets when a new restaurant opens. Why? Because it is a rare occurrence that any ever do. Take, the Pigsty BBQ place down the street. It has been«under construction» for, well, as long as I can remember. The interior of Café Intermezzo dazzles the eye upon walking in, but the glamour soon fades as you wait to get seated, checking your watch to see if you are going to make it back for that 1 o’clock meeting on time. Reviewing the menu, I noticed that it is drastically shorter than the other locations. Where are my savory crepes? The prices are a little steep as well, but that is typical downtown. I just hate having to pay extra for a side when I just spent $ 8 on a sandwhich of bread, tomato, and mozarella. The office vending machine feels my wrath after I’ve dined here for lunch. Desserts are way over priced as well. I can understand that they are specialty made, but really $ 9 for a slice of cake? Is there a gold coin hidden inside? Does the cake have to rent the space it takes up, therefore warranting a premium? Overall this place is a little disappointing. I can pay the same price and get much more food somewhere else. Just another factor justifying the long walk down to Broad Street to grab lunch.

I really want to like this place, with its extensive bar selection and deep menu, but they make it so very hard. The death knell for what should otherwise be a killer spot is its inconsistency. No matter when you go(busy or slow) your experience will be as predictable as a coin toss. Sometimes they’re on point and kicking ass. Other times you wonder just how far their heads are up their rectums. I have no idea why this happens. After several attempts(it’s attached to my hotel) I still can’t figure out what makes things so weird. Just tonight I ordered a simple wrap with chicken. Out came the wrap, but no chicken. Then when my replacement came out the chicken was there, but the wrap itself was wrong and there was a side of dipping sauce which wasn’t even listed in the menu. I’m not sure if they’re even reading their own menu. I gave this joint three stars because when they’re good, they’re good and the extensive bar selection is too good to pass up. Here’s hoping they get their act together. It has the potential to be a solid downtown establishment.

I found myself Downtown with a metered parking spot directly in front of Intermezzo. After a super quick meeting, I had about an hour left on my meter so I decided to pop in for a bit of work and food. I’m not a big fan of the other Intermezzo in Buckhead so I was wary and prepared for bad service and overpriced, mediocre food. Upon walking in, my nostrils were accosted by the smell of sugar, chocolate, and butter. Maybe it’s because I’ve given up sweets, but daaaaammn this place smells good. It was an odd hour(about 2:30 on a Wednesday) so the place was understandably pretty empty. They had the«please wait to be seated» sign up, but I felt awkward chillin by the door so I made my way about half way in to the restaurant and was greeted by the host, who, upon noticing my laptop in tow, asked if I wanted to sit next to an outlet. Anyone who works out of cafes/restaurants knows how rare that is. Plus 1 for Intermezzo. I sat next to a lovely window, pushed the carnation and little vase of sugar cubes out of the way, and got settled in. This place feels old school, even a little stuffy, but I could see it working at night, especially late night. Especially if you’ve got grandmothers in tow. A little frilly for my taste, but it makes sense and I totally understand what they’re going for. My waiter(who, BTW, was named Thomas and had the most gorgeous eyes I have ever seen) greeted me promptly and was totally on point throughout: keeping my Diet Cokes refreshed and making sure I was well taken care of. I ordered a caprese panini and was really impressed. Great crunchy bread, fresh ingredients, really thick slab of mozzarella. It was served with a totally worthless garnish salad– I don’t know why they bothered to waste the ingredients, honestly. At $ 8 for just the sandwich is was definitely a little pricey, but I was satisfied with the meal so I have no major qualms. Their wifi was a little slow and went in and out a bit, so I can’t see really hunkering down here… but I don’t think that’s what they’re after, anyway.

We couldn’t have picked a better spot for my son’s birthday/Mother’s Day breakfast. Upon walking in you are greeted with the delicious scent of fresh baked pastries and coffee. I ordered a Nutella Strawberry crêpe($ 7.00) with a Suisse Mokka($ 4.90) which had a bit of a spicy bite to it to go with the chocolatey taste, and my son ordered an Intermezzo Benedict($ 11.00) which was essentially eggs benedict with turkey instead of ham and it came with cubed potatoes. He also ordered a bagel($ 3.50) as a side. Orange juice was a bit pricey($ 3.75). Their drink menu looks like a novel. Endless choices of coffees and hot cocoa and alcoholic coffees even. And i’m talking about 20 choices of coffee, then 10 choices of hot cocoa(Well maybe my numbers are a bit off, but you’ll see it really is like a novel!) How I came to decide on that drink out of the millions, I could only do that with my waitress’ suggestion. Lucky for me, she loves chocolate as much as I do. We had excellent service, the food was fresh and delicious, and the ambiance was quiet and relaxing with friendly customers nearby. Even my son enjoyed his hollandaise sauce after disliking his last experience with it. Choco-lovers, check out their cakes! They have plenty of choices for you. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in Atlanta.

Compared to their other locations, this one wasn’t a pleasant experience at all: — Shorter menu, WAY fewer desserts available — Long wait to be seated despite being empty — Long wait for menu bc the hostess said«sorry I got distracted» — Chicken satay skewers normally come w/3 skewers(as stated in other café intermezzo menus & an old picture I had) but only came w/2 skewers & less chicken — Brought wrong entrée — Brought wrong dessert SLOW service in general despite being the only people there was frustrating, but even more frustrating was the smaller menu and still brining the wrong menu items. Try the other locations, much cuter & bigger w/much better service.

I’m pretty sure this Café Intermezzo has taken over the space where beloved sandwich shop Sops on Ellis once resided. I met a dear out-of-town friend for lunch, crammed by the window into a two-person table that sat jammed against other two-person tables. Luckily we situated ourselves in a manner that prevented elbow-bumping with strangers. We both had the spinach and strawberry salad, also topped with fried goat cheese medallions, mango chunks, red onion and balsamic vinaigrette. For my coworkers’ sake, I pushed the onions to the side, and for protein’s sake I added shrimp to the fiber-full mound. A whole wheat roll also came with the salad, so I slopped pieces of goat cheese on it for a tangy midday dessert. We also each enjoyed the lavender Earl Gray tea, presented in an opaque press. I appreciated the opportunity to steep the beverage to my desired strength, but it would’ve been easier to monitor if the press were clear. Also worth noting is the projector that rotated artistic images on the Ellis Street wall. Further, I noticed a couple Unilocalers point out slow service. Maybe Intermezzo management has been monitoring our comments because the waiter made a point to bring our check early so I could return to the office and my companion, to a conference.

Very attractive looking place. Impressive bar area. Varied menu. Only went in for coffee this time… and that was a disappointment: mediocre coffee at best, but proudly offered for $ 4 in a paper cup. No thanks. Better elsewhere. .

I like the upscale feel of this place and that it was open late when I came through. I drove into Atlanta late and I was starving so I was glad when my friend suggested coming here for drinks and food. I walked in and felt really out of place-I had been driving for days and looked and felt like a trucker but it didn’t seem to be a problem. I’m not a big coffee drinker much to the chagrin of my friend who kept pushing the coffee. The sweet tea was good and I ordered their Cuban sandwich which I promptly devoured. I have to say it was a good version of a Cuban. Crispy bread which tasted ok, not too tasty but the ham and cheese really made a nice contrast to the tangy sweetness of the pickles and the mustard, but bread makes a sandwich and here it was just kind of ‘eh.‘ Our server was friendly and attentive but a little weird. You know how waitresses can sometimes act really flirty to try to get a bigger tip? HE was like that and maybe I’m being gender biased but it was really kind of pervy and I didn’t like it.
