Brookhaven Dental Associates

This is a great dental practice. As a new patient, I got in 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment for any necessary paperwork and it didn’t take too long. They also work with you to verify your insurance so you know exactly what to expect. I had the friendliest hygienist and she was very informative about each step of the cleaning. They did make some extra recommendations that I had to take since its been a while since my last dental visit. Overall easy and painless experience — I will continue going there!

I had a crown replaced and it was a fast and easy, relatively painless process. Relatively. My dental assistant set expectations well and they came true. The dentist was a pro and the results were what I hoped for. I couldn’t feel my face for a few hours, but thanks to that dental assistant, I knew it would happen. I don’t want to go back for a while but that’s not because of their work.

Best dental office in Brookhaven! Courteous office staff and very clean inside.
All of the doctors take their time, pay attention to detail, and offer a comprehensive, yet affordable diagnosis. Looking forward to getting Invisalign from them soon!
Dr. Bhatia, Dr. Chen, and Dr. Lichkay are a great team!

I was a patient of Dr. Bhatia between May 2009 and March 2010.
That was the WORST dental experience in my life.
Dr. Bhatia mutilated my upper incisors. He restored my decayed incisors and put thereon porcelain crowns of indiscernible shape that looked like white beans and would MOVE, as I touched them with the tip of my tongue. Half a year later, when I was a resident of a different state, BOTH crowns started cracking and were about to fall apart.
I ended up removing them and having the RIGHT crowns installed in their place, which cost me nearly $ 1,000.00.
Dr. Bhatia is the worst and most incompetent dentist I have EVER been treated by. I would NOT recommend him to my worst enemy.

Friendly, knowledgeable, no wait. They’re a little weird about billing for sanitation, $ 5. Other than that no complaints.

I have been coming here for the last 3 years or so. Love Dr. Chen and have also seen Dr. Vik (who is great, too). Dr. Chen did an emergency root canal for me last year. Although it was a root canal, there was minimal pain and he is very efficient and quick. I was feeling pain in the area a few months later, but it turned out to be another tooth. He did not charge me for the visit since I recently had paid out of pocket for the root canal. Unfortunately, I recently had to return to get a crown on the tooth that was causing problems. Again, Dr. Chen was so quick. personable and efficient.

This dental practice is the best. I recommend them to all my friends.

My whole experience at Brookhaven Dental was amazing. Dr. Chen was very thorough with my examination and explained everything in detail. My hygienist Melissa was very sweet and seemed excited about bettering my oral care. I would also refer Melissa to anyone that is due for their annual teeth cleaning! :)

DEFINITELY DODGY BUSINESS PRACTICE: Since my review below, I finally got back to Chapel Hill to the University of Chapel Hill Faculty Dental practice to get my teeth cleaned and looked at. I did not discuss my experience at Brookhaven. I just went in to get my teeth cleaned by Rhonda who has been cleaning my teeth for over 10 years. She remarked that my gums looked good with her initial examination for change and then cleaned my teeth. When she was done I asked her if there was any undue tartar under the gums or any sign of gum disease. She said no, teeth and gums looked good. The doctor did his normal check after cleaning and gave me the still watch the cracks but no difference. I asked about the recommended caps for the minor cracks in my teeth. They have been watching the cracks and strongly said there is no reason for cap unless there is sensitivilty to heat/​cold or other problem. Otherwise, the cracks are surface cracks and not reason to get expensive caps. I expect there to be some differences between non profit dental practice and dentist selling selling unneeded dental services to over trusting consumers.
I can now confirm with no uncertainty the Brookhaven Dental Associates is practicing definitely dodgy business practice recommending the providing unneeded dental procedures.
I will try another Dentist in Brookhaven area and provide an update later.

My dental hygienist Melissa is so sweet she should give you a cavity haha joke!
She very nice fun and always answers my questions.

This is a really nice and clean office — two floors, apparently the one on the first floor is for the dental surgeon + any xrays that need to be taken.
Dr. Vik is really nice too, making sure to ask you if you have any concerns during your time with him and the cleaning really only took about an hour. They applied fluoride on my teeth as a recommended practice even though my insurance didn’t really cover it — I understand the rationale behind it but as someone mentioned $ 22 * 2 times a year really adds up. Oh and there is a $ 5 disposal fee (for the gauze, materials, etc) as well which I have never encountered before.
I also had to wait for ~40 minutes prior to be taken back which really threw a wrench in my day considering I had scheduled it during my lunch hour (emphasis on hour). The receptionist mentioned that next time I go in, I shouldn’t have to wait as long so we will see if that is true.

Love love Dr. Vik! I’ve been in for several cleanings and procedures and every time he makes me feel at ease.

I had not been to the dentist in quite some time and had recently chipped my tooth. After self-​diagnosing via WebMD any and all the possibilities I was even more afraid and certain I was going to need a root canal. Thankfully I called B.D.A. and they were able to make an appointment to see me the very next day. They were helpful, courteous and the office had an overall friendly/​welcoming feeling (also, very clean!). I saw Dr. Chen who not only put me at ease by telling me I would not need a root canal (hallelujah!) but also seemed to genuinely care. I am happy to say that I am excited for my next visit and will definitely be back!

I started coming here at the start of a new year for a yearly exam at the recommendation of a coworker who said she loved how they treated her and the work they did for her teeth.
This is relatively close to my apartment, across from the gym I usually work out at, and has free parking. So I figured I’d give it a shot.
I went in right on time, and had no difficulty locating the office on the second floor. Later I found out the first floor was where the oral surgeon would come in on Wednesdays and have consultations or surgeries. The office on the second floor where they did the cleanings were not in separate rooms like I was used to, but were separated by cabinets that did well enough to keep the privacy while sitting in the chair, but at the same time, I could see everyone’s dental work while walking
The overall process was almost two hours. The x-​rays, cleaning, and lecture from the hygienist in her condescending tone after she found out I was younger than her… was as painless as a thorough dental exam could be. After the cleaning and scolding for not flossing as often as she would have liked me to, one of the actual dentists came over, introduced himself, and kindly examined my teeth. He diagnosed a loose filling and recommended me also get a consultation and second opinion on the placement of my wisdom teeth.
Overall I had as pleasant of an experience as going to the dentist can be. The receptionist was so nice, and all the hygienists are super sweet. They will work hard to make sure your insurance covers the maximum cost, rather than charge you for every little thing out of pocket. Definitely recommend!

This dentist was recommended to me by a friend and I am very happy with the service I received here. I am so relieved to have found a dentist that I feel comfortable going to. There are some sketchy ones out there!
The staff was very friendly and explained everything that I need to have done and showed me prices up front. I was able to get an appointment the very next day and there was no «waiting time» involved during my visit. Once my cleaning was done, the dentist saw me immediately after. He was very calming and listened to my concerns and actually made me feel better.
I have a pending root canal (first ever) coming up but I know I will be in good hands with this dentist. I had not been to the dentist in 4 years but am comfortable to call this my new dentist office. The office, by the way is clean, modern and inviting.
A previous review mentions no toothbrushes given out– but, I was given a little bag with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste. I guess they listen! Its always nice to have a reward!

After searching for the last two years in Atlanta for a great dentist, I finally found one :)
They are very friendly and really care about how you feel.

I was finally relieved to have found a reliable dentist who doesn’t lie about the treatments you need so they can make money.
On my first visit, they printed out a sheet of the service they will doing and the total cost I will be paying at the end of my visit. They went through each item and explained what it was. They told me that one of the items (flouride treatment? can’t remember exactly) was recommended once a year, but definitely not required. I appreciated their honesty and how I was not subjected to a surprise payment at the end of my visit. Every visit after that, they have always given me the sheet of what will happen that day and the total cost I should expect to pay.
Dr. Vik is always friendly and you can tell he loves his job. All the other people who work there (who do most of the cleanings) are also very nice and do a good job.
The only thing that a patient may complain about is that they don’t give you the little bag of dental supplies that most dentists give you (ie. small tube of toothpaste, floss, and toothbrush) when you leave the office. But really, the trade-​off of getting those things and getting a huge bill at other dental offices is not worth it. I’d rather pay a few bucks buying those things myself than to go to a dentist who says I need fillings or treatments I don’t need.
I believe they recently moved a few blocks down the street to the office/​condo complex where Yoforia and Library Coffee is located, so make sure you don’t go to their old location (across from Brookhaven Marta station on Apple Valley Rd.).

Incredible. My previous Buckhead dental experience sent me crying home to Tennessee to my childhood dentist. At the previous Buckhead dentist, I paid incredible fees and was told I had gingivitis and would need all sorts of pricey treatments, which my hometown dentist promptly refuted. I had a cleaning before moving to South Africa for a few years and now that we’re home, it was time to find a dentist closeby and in our insurance plan.
I am so pleased with the service received at Brookhaven Dental Associates! Here’s what’s so great:
(1) Its super easy to make an appointment here plus they send handy email reminders.
(2) Insurance is accepted and fully explained prior to treatment. I knew what my out-​of-​pocket costs were going to be before any thing was done. They were so calm and kind in explaining the costs that I really felt no pressure whatsoever.
(3) Everyone has a smile on their face here. I laughed my way through my entire cleaning!
(4) I can watch TV and/​or listen to Jack Johnson as my teeth get cleaned? Heck yes.
(5) My hygenist was fabulous. He was super fun to talk to, but more importantly, was thorough and kind in explaining to me where I can pay more attention when flossing, etc. There was no finger wagging involved. Love it.
(6) Incredible technology — instant x-​rays, shown right on the computer to you.
(7) Fantastic location with free, easy parking.
(8) Gentle, thorough teeth cleaning. YAY.
Our family will definitely be back!
