Been there, tried that… WON’T be back and don’t suggest you do either. Yes they offer a wide variety but it’s all school cafeteria quality. Not worth a trip from anywhere.

The food is slap your grandmother good! My friends and I went into a food induced coma once we got home. The staff was very helpful and friendly. This is our new Sunday dinner spot! You get SO much food, for not a whole lot of money. Definitely well worth the ride.

I came craving soul food and Big Daddy’s Café didn’t disappoint. It doesn’t compare with what my grandmother used to make, but they did an above average job. I had the fried catfish, which is made to order. I had 3 sides(it comes with two, so I had to pay a little extra): collard greens, black eyed peas, and mac n cheese. Everything was a little on the salty side, but tasty. I washed it down with a big glass of(too SWEET!!!) pink lemonade. For the price, I’d recommend it.

A friend of mine kept telling me that this was the best soul food in Atlanta, and although I know that is an opinion that is based on every individual’s taste I wanted to try it out for myself. The staff was really nice and accomodating. The food is served cafeteria-style and they have EVERYTHING. Meatloaf, smootherd pork chops, turkey legs and gravyy, fried chicken, ox tails… the list goes on and on. I decided to get the smothered porkchops with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and collard greens. My friend got the turkey legs and gravy, dressing, cabbage and mac&cheese. The smothered porkchops were really good. 1 was enough though. The gravy was really lumpy, I wished it was a little smoother. The mashed potatoes were the rehydrated kind(I KNOW when I am eating real mashed potatoes and these weren’t) and really salty. As soon as I took the first bite it felt like a salty fist punched me in my mouth… The mac and cheese was mediocre in my opinion. I have had better. The greens were good. They give you a lot of food and it is reasonably priced. My meal was around $ 8.99. Come here on a day where you aren’t watching your sodium intake, because they are not shy with seasoning the food. I will be back, because I want to try a few more things, but based off of what I had last night… meh. 3 stars for now.

Went to Big Daddy’s tue. April 13th, had the chicken and Dressing for 5.99(drink included). I really enjoyed it, thought the food was still good. The lemonade was too sweet, but i think that’s how most people like it anyway. you get a meat and two veggies, but really three cause the dressing is not considered one of the sides, it goes in with the meat. I don’t make dressing at home usually, so I had to treat myself. I only ate half my meal, and was STUFFED. this is one of my criterion for a good take out meal, leftovers. I feel I got my moneys worth, and ate pretty healthy. I removed the skin from my chicken to cut down on caloric intake. all in all, Big Daddy’s is still on my list of top 5 restaurants, and definitely closer to number one if your just counting south of the perimiter.
