Atlantic Relocation Systems

Kudos to Atlantic Relocation Systems. I moved over five times in the last twelve years, and they by far exceeded my expectations. My major concerns in selecting a mover were quality and my budget, because my company did not pay for my move with Atlantic. ARS not only stayed within my budget but their crew also arrived on time, safeguarded my home to prevent property damage, and made sure my items were well protected. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a move.

I had an experienced sales person named Curtis first come over for my estimate for my move to Irvine. He brought a well-​spring of little pieces of insight from some 30+ years in the moving industry. They were little tidbits throughout that really did not point to his own service particularly, just were small little ways to save money, avoid certain costs, etc. He zeroed in on the small logistical problems of my move, much more quickly, intelligently and helpfully than other moving salespeople that visited. The others seemed more aloof and more concerned with getting a yes out of me than doing the things to make sure my move went well. Atlantic’s quote was slightly more expensive but they had so much more attention to detail, I felt they would do a better job. On the day of the move, the packers did a careful, almost surgical job and they knew how a number of things weren’t moving and seemed to be aware of those ahead of time. My delivery came right in the middle of the range of dates and the person in the office let me know updates so there were no surprises.
I did have one hiccup: the movers did put a good crack in a nice porcelain desk lamp I had. I immediately submitted a claim and it got handled quickly by a sales manager with an English accent. I had a lot insurance on the move, which Curtis the sales guy gave me for free anyway, so replacing the lamp was no problem and happened quickly. There was no pushpack or questioning; they just took care of it.
So even when they made a mistake, they handled themselves well and professionally and I would use them again.

I would highly recommend using Atlantic Relocation Systems for any moving or relocation needs. From the very beginning when I was first soliciting moving companies to the day they delivered the household goods, ARS was the most thorough, knowledgeable, and cordial group to work with on my company’s employee relocation.
I was asked by my supervisor to assist in finding a mover that would relocate a recently promoted employee from Indianapolis to Phoenix. Because of the long trek and cost involved, it was crucial that I select a company that was not only experienced in handling cross country moves with little-​to-​no damage to property but also cost effective. Melissa Craig was my first encounter and she answered all my questions with complete transparency and courtesy. I «interviewed» nearly a dozen moving companies, some of which were also very knowledgeable and helpful, and narrowed down my selection to three. Based on the cost estimate, experience, reputation of the name, online reviews, and how helpful the company was, we ultimately chose ARS.
Since I personally have never used a professional moving company, learning the ins and outs of the business as well as making sure the employee’s property would be secured and well taken care of made for a really anxiety-​filled experience for me. Tracy Roberts, who took the reins after Melissa, could not have been more ideal in being my ARS representative. She answered every single one of my questions with complete honesty and remained cordial despite the numerous times I contacted her with more inquiries. She realized I was anxious and turned this situation into a learning experience for me, educating me on exactly what goes on with the moving industry, how to read the documents, and what best practices are recommended. When you’re dealing with a long distance move and all the factors that go into transporting a family’s entire belongings with monetary and personal value, trust is very important, and Tracy did a tremendous job gaining my trust during this process.
As we got closer to the move date, Tracy walked the employee’s family and myself through the process, double checking that all of our ducks were in a row. During the days of the move Tracy visited the family more than once to make sure everything was going smoothly and helped ease some of the anxiety that comes with a move. The drivers were professional and very helpful. She and the drivers went above and beyond to ease any worry, including the driver offering to transport their family dog so that he didn’t have to fly in cargo in below freezing temperatures. On the day the truck delivered the household goods to the new home, the relocated employee let my supervisor and I know everything was great. He said, «Dog and the rest of our stuff made it safely this morning at 8 AM. Movers were tremendous. Great guys.»
The whole team at ARS that worked with us during this arduous process did a fantastic job. I feel 100% confident they will do a great job for anyone’s moving needs. To be honest, they were not the least expensive mover on our list, however it was totally worth paying a little extra for the security and peace of mind that our employee’s belongings were in good hands. When it comes time for me to move into a new home, I will most definitely contact them.

If I could I would give ZERO stars.
I have moved many many times in my life, a lot of international moving included. I do not expect perfection and I am well aware that things break during a move. I also understand that estimates are exactly that, estimates.
That been said…
STAY AWAY from this company!
1) The sales person who came absolutely low-​balled the estimate. We were not moving on the corporate dime, so we did say that we would try do to as much ourselves as we could, but told the sales person specifically things we would not be touching, like for instance the kitchen. The estimate for packing ended up with much less than needed, including the kitchen, where the packers had about enough boxes for a third of the kitchen. The packers ended up using my own boxes purchased at Home Depot.
Atlantic charges for packed boxes when they pack. Not a bad thing. Except when they take a medium size box for ONE (!!!) lampshade. I mentioned it to the foreman, he was fairly dismissive to my comments.
They did not finish the packing on the day allocated for packing as they did not have enough materials (boxes). More to this later.
2) Loading was insanity.
As I have moved many times, I know what to get ready. I know what to do with furniture so that it doesn’t get banged up. Like taking out drawers of a dresser to make it lighter and easier to carry. The crew apparently didn’t want to walk the extra flight of stairs, so back in go the drawers and presto, the dresser comes apart when they lift it.
5 hours were allocated for loading. It took them 9. It was a hot day, and I don’t expect the crew to be running the entire day, but finding one of the crew taking a nap in one of the guest rooms is a new one for me. Obviously a lot of time was used for more packing as they didn’t get the job done the first day.
Because the loading took so long, the allocated hours for the move in were of course «used up» and I was told by sales that the move in would have to be charged additionally.
3) Delivery… Or rather Non-​Delivery.
Our move was a bit out of the ordinary, not an A2B same day or overnight, but rather a move-​out/​storage/​move-​in deal. From the beginning it was very clearly stated when the move-​in date was supposed to be. At no time ever was I told that move-​in dates are not binding or can change.
The day before the move I check in to confirm the delivery. Several hours later I am told that they can not deliver and that the new delivery date is now 3 days later. And this via Email. No explanation as to why, no apologies, no call, nothing. It is clear what happened, as over a number of telephone calls it became clear that an internal error (someone did not log the exit date in the warehouse) it never went to dispatch. The only way it came up was my inquiry the day before the original delivery day.
I raised all sorts of hell obviously, was told nothing could be done. «We have a lot of military traffic». I guess this is a way to get customers to be quiet, since nothing can be said about the military…
All calls made where initiated by me. Every time I asked for them to call back, keep me updated, be it the coordinator or the sales manager, calls were never returned. Even a «I will call you back in 10 minutes» turned into 6 hours later me calling and not reaching the person in charge.
It is apparent that nothing was done to help expedite or fix the problem that THEY caused. This became absolutely obvious when a person from dispatch called me and had NO IDEA about the situation concerning our delivery. So perhaps the sales manager made one call and then stopped, thinking this is «working hard to solve the customers problem».
We are now scheduled for the delivery in 2 days.
In the mean time an email has arrived from the GM offering apologies as well as compensation. At least something. But too little too late. I do not expect moving again in the nearer future, but if I ever do, I will certainly not be using this company or any of their affiliates again.
Useless to use them just for quote comparisons either, as what is quoted is not what it will be in the end.

Had successfully used Atlantic Relocation Systems in the past, but after this experience, never again! They damaged a couple piece of my furniture during a recent move and even though the driver filled out paperwork stating the damages happened, they refused to pay. It was one excuse after another… piece listed as desk not a bookshelf, items were already damaged, you disassembled the pieces yourself… anything to deny payment. So, had my lawyer give them a call and then suddenly they «carefully reviewed my account» and decided to pay my claim. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY!!!

DO NOT use Atlantic Relocation Systems!!! They are HORRIBLE and the sales manager should go back to school and learn the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! He will tell you what you want to hear to just get off the phone. They also do not tell you that they hire another company to move your items! They do not know the meaning of «giving updates» to their clients. The ONLY reason I found out about when my items would be picked up and delivered was when I called! I was told that they have SO MANY clients that it’s hard to keep up. Well here’s a little bit of education for you, if you continue giving bad customer service you will NOT have clients! To bad Atlas Van Lines is associated with this company! Two of the employees that I originally started with left the company within a week of each other. That should tell you something! I called the corporate office in Evansville, IN to file my complaint! The other reviews are so accurate! They do hold your items for a while before shipping them to you! STAY FAR AWAY!!! PLEASE read ALL the reviews before hiring this company based out of Atlanta!!! I have learned my lesson!

My worst nightmare. I don’t think anyone want to read the pages I could write about my experience, but I will sum it up with the following —
Terrible communication — better yet, nonexistent communication
Not knowing where my belongings were
Belongings shipping over a week after promised delivery (not just a week after they were supposed to ship, almost a week after they were supposed to have arrived at destination)
Living in a hotel, which cost an absolute fortune for two weeks — especially when last minute and completely unexpected
Flying across country to an empty house, with no clue where everything I own was at the time
Finally getting my belongings two weeks late, having to unload half the truck myself because the crew I paid for wasn’t there
Countless broken or damaged items. Furniture scratched, broken items that the movers had packed (everything I packed was fine, but the items they helped pack because of size were nearly destroyed), bikes broken, things missing, found the belongings of other people mixed up in my stuff and really hope they made their way back to the right people
All that cost nearly 5 figures.
I’ve moved 18 times in my life, I know how to pack, I know how to do this, and this experience was by far the worst I’ve ever had. The worst part of all was no communication. Nothing to indicate my things were not on the way, NOTHING. I flew across country to meet up with the delivery crew and didn’t know they weren’t coming until late that afternoon after sitting in an empty house all day wondering if they were stuck in traffic and calling Atlantic over and over again until I finally found out. Turns out, they hadn’t even left Atlanta yet and no one bothered to so much as tell me.

I am in the military, I am currently undergoing the process with Atlantic. My move is from San Clemente, CA to Fort Worth, TX. I wish I would’ve read some of these reviews. They scare me. But I will keep you informed on how this all works. I just got an estimate today and the guy seemed super professional and my experience on the phone wasn’t too bad. They called me a few times before my estimate to make sure everything was okay, and for the most part they have been keeping in touch with me. So far so good. 02/​18/​2015.

I sure do wish I had gone with a different moving company. Some of the actual moving guys were great (Maury knows his stuff and deserves a raise!) but the other contacts avoid you unless they’re asking for more money, like for the «third party hook-​up» that never actually happened. But the main complaint? …Our quote was WAY OFF. Over $ 1,000 different than the amount billed to us. $ 1,100 higher to be more exact. This should not happen! The estimator saw our whole house, storage areas and shed; they should know how much it will cost. A couple hundred I can understand but over a grand?
I also wouldn’t trust this moving company to pack anything unusual. We had some items scattered all around inside of boxes, not secured within the boxes at all, when is was clear this would happen.
And don’t get me started on the whole «third party has to hook up your washer, dryer and fridge. It was a mad rush to get to the new property by 1:00 only to have this person not show up until 4:30. Then proceed to not do her job due to lack of knowledge and proper documentation as to how the washer was «unhooked» in the first place. And after all the trouble (going all weekend after a move with no washer) and overages we have incurred, they want us to pay for this third party service?!
I’ve moved three times in the past four years and this company was the worst out of the three.

I used them to move me from Atlanta to New York in 2010. All the items arrived on time and no damage. For the most part, the move was ok. I am only giving them 3 stars because there was some slow communication with their front office staff. At the time, they had a young-​sounding lady (think teenager) and she took several business days to return your calls and coordinate moving dates/​times/​addresses. She was also very unprofessional. She made the move a hassle more than it needed to be.

Oh, Atlantic, why have you forsaken me? I’ve worked with the Dallas office numerous times and gotten exemplary service. I am moving my parents from ATL to Dallas and had to deal with the ATL office. Never. Again. Like other reviewers we got the spiel about 2 days and as of this writing, it will be 11 days. I’ll update the review once the phantom truck actually gets here. I’m sure there will be some other ridiculous twist to this cross country adventure.
Long story short (too late…), The driver has a personal crisis, so now it becomes our crisis. Hell, things happen, but my issue is NO ONE communicated that our stuff was even delayed. Their hands don’t work to answer a phone or e-​mail, but they have a strong arm when they swipe your credit card 3 days after your stuff was SUPPOSE to be delivered. My advice, choose Atlantic if you would like to experience a level of indifference that is DMV worthy and you would like all of your personal belongings and furnishings to come a millennium after your move-​in date. Because paying for an empty condo is the «in» thing. Furnishings are soooo last year.

Awful company. Worked with them for our move from DC to Austin. They scheduled the move for a specified date, confirmed and reconfirmed the date with us, and then didn’t show up. Didn’t bother calling, apparently the entire crew didn’t show up and no one communicated with us that this was the case. Our case manager was on the west coast, while our move was from the east coast, so of course at 8am in the morning when I am trying to reach her she is non responsive and I had to deal with her supervisor, who did nothing to make right on our move and rescheduled the move for the next day with no consideration for the difficulties it caused us. We moved almost 3 months ago and we still haven’t resolved claim issues with move for lost and damaged items. Its been a nightmare to reach anyone and you have to continue to follow up with them because they just forget about you.
Worst move out of the 5 moves we had made thus far. They are truly a horrendous company and I don’t know how they still manage to be in business. If you use this company for a move, be prepared for the endless headaches and aggravation they will cause you!!!

I couldn’t give this business even 1 star. They were horrible and please do not waste your time using them.
I was relocating for work to a city 7 hours away. I was pricing moving companies and they gave me the best quote so i went with them. I should have done more research. Hell I would have been better off renting a truck and hiring movers to pack and unpacking. Anyway. They were late arriving to pack. Then they charged me for tape and boxes to pack more items. They would just use so much more tape than was needed. Then charge for each roll (which were many). I ended up paying over $ 1000 more for the move than was quoted.
Then they don’t tell you that they are moving other people’s stuff with yours. They were late getting to our new location. They were difficult to work. Basically once they get your credit card number the customer service stops there.
Please save yourself money and grief and find another company even if they give you the best quote. I wish i had.

Wow, this place is the worst.
It started out great when the invertory person came over to verify what we had, his estimate was pretty accurate based on the actual truck load. We had the pack and load service. The packers and loaders were great. They did a really great job packaging our stuff, but there were several things packed with paper, a pen top, pen, etc, that was a bit much. 6 sheets of paper for a 10cent bic pen top. But, the items were packed nicely. They loaded and were running late from the rain. Understandable.
Here is where it gets bad. They packed on a Tuesday, loaded Wed and were supposed to deliver on Friday in Dallas, TX. They quote a 2 day window, but we were going to pay extra to make it happen on Friday. Turns out, the driver left Thursday night, from Atlanta to make the 12+ hour drive to dallas. I’m wondering how he was really planning on doing this if he left Thursday night and was supposed to deliver at my place Friday at 10am. Well it did not happen. The driver was stranded on the side of the road in MS for 12 hours, when did we get a phone call??? Friday at 8am 2 hours before they were supposed to drop off. Things go progressivly down hill and never get better. The driver is stranded all day Friday and finally gets back on the road sometime lateFriday night. we are told Saturday at 11am he will deliver. When does he deliver closer to 4pm. All while his hired help is sitting outside my home waiting, waiting and waiting on him. So they make a mad dash to unload everything, its close to 9pm or so befor they are finally done unloading.
Here we are 3 weeks later and I’m still missing several hundred dollars worth of my belongings. When I called to find out status’ the rep /​coordinator would blow me off or say or it shipped, when not only did it not ship, it finally arrived and was not my stuff.
Not only do I not recommend these people, I would say use them for a competitive quote to give to another more reliable company.
