Atlanta Dermatology & Aesthetics

This review will cover the office, the staff, their policies, and Dr. Taliaferro herself.
I’m 55, pale and Irish, and have never been to a dermatologist before. My aging skin has developed a few anomalies that I thought should be seen by a professional. I researched numerous places and found that Dr. Taliaferro — definitely a fan favorite — had left her previous group and opened her own practice in Atlantic Station.
I had already called the group she USED TO work for, and had been forced to leave a message after waiting several minutes on the phone. (That was 6 days ago, and they NEVER called me back.) Realizing that Dr. T was the one who’d netted all the positive reviews, I went ahead and called her new office at Atlanta Dermatology and Aesthetics.
They answered the phone on the first ring, took my info and gave me an appointment for the first day I requested (6 days out). The receptionist asked if I’d like email confirmation, and by the time I got off the phone I had an email giving me my appointment date and time, a link to new patient forms and another to directions and parking instructions.
I was leery of accepting the 9:30 AM appointment, having to travel through midtown at that hour, but it wasn’t bad at all. The directions given in email and on their website are the most PRECISE and EASY TO FOLLOW directions I’ve ever been given anywhere! I knew how to find Atlanta Station, duh, but the parking garage-​to-​door instructions were fabulous. Believe me, I have seen a lot of doctors in the past couple of years, and have spent a ridiculous amount of time gaping at directories, turning maps over and over, and wandering hallways. I complimented the receptionist immediately on the ease of finding the office, thanks to the directions.
The forms were basic but comprehensive, not a million pages of jibberjabber, and I completed them at home. Once I handed those over with my insurance card and ID, there was nothing more to fill out, which was also a relief. (I have severe arthritis in my hands and my RHEUMATOLOGIST’S office always gives me a ton of paperwork. My GP uses an electronic tablet which weighs a ton and has a damnable amount of drug advertising on it. I hate that thing.)
I arrived at 9:20 for my 9:30 AM appt., and waited about 15 minutes. Once I was seen in by a lovely and attentive young nurse, I detailed my concerns and she examined them briefly. She left and Dr. Taliaferro came in within a minute. She was warm and professional, listened and responded, IMMEDIATELY excised the only mole she said might be worrisome and IMMEDIATELY used liquid nitrogen on a subcutaneous wart I’ve had on my hand for years and years. NONE of this «yes we should treat this make another appointment» that I’ve grown accustomed to elsewhere. She gave me a thorough examination and assured me that the other marks were nothing to worry over, and can be removed only if they displease me cosmetically or cause discomfort.
I am going back for a follow-​up in 3 weeks, and expect nothing but another great experience.

Dr. Taliaferro is really excellent! She’s very knowledgeable and very caring. She did a couple of procedures for me and advised against something else that would probably not have turned out well due to my skin type. The staff were friendly and outgoing. As I continue to have 29^th birthdays over and over again, I’ll definitely be back to see her again.
