ACRM was just an amazing place. We couldn’t be more thankful for all they done for us. They turned as a family. So, let’s start this way. The experience you’ll find on people’s review is based on their emotional and successful history, but just remember not everything is on ACRM’s control. Each case is different and I’m here to share my experience at ACRM.
We got at ACRM in the end of August 2013, but we decided to postpone our journey until January 2014 as we could start on a new calendar year for insurance purpose. We had been tried to conserve for 18 months and as we both got tested I was diagnosed with low egg quantity and with both tubes blocked. Our only option was IVF. Luckily our insurance paid most of the treatment. Our first round of IVF had to be canceled in the middle bc my body didn’t react to the meds. All the hormones was very hard on me and I decided that I needed help and we started attending the free support group at ACRM on Wednesday nights. It was a perfect opportunity to release my stress and receive love and support from the other wanted to be moms-​to-​be. I made really good friends at the group. We had the second cycle of IVF. It’s a success and we had a baby boy called Sam. He’s just reason of our lives. 6 months after We had our first baby we went back to ACRM to talk about second baby. We had another fresh cycle of IVF and here we are again prego. Our experience at this place was fantastic and we’re very proud to be part of the ACRM family. We love you guys. Thank you for everything you made to our family. We love our team. Dr. Lisa Hasty, Takera, Dr. Laura, Bernice and the lab girls (Pat and Ellen) at the Buckhead location.

Like every doctor office, there are the positives and negatives. ACRM was always easy to get in contact with and the nurse or financial counselor always got back with us within the day. At times, the wait was long for monitoring appointments in the morning and as a teacher, I always found this a little stressful since I had to have someone cover my class for the hour.
That being said, my experience with Dr. Sue Ellen Carpenter was very positive. She is very knowledgable, compassionate, and takes the time to explain different options and answer all your questions. In fact, after trying several rounds of fertility drugs with no response, she recommended an MRI for a possible pituitary tumor. Initially I disregarded the suggestion, and she pushed for it again. With her persistence, I had one done and it revealed a tumor that was causing my ovulation problems. She called me on her personal number to talk me through it, and although I did my best not to abuse it, she always would respond if I had any questions that arose. I am not sure if another doctor would have been as set on the diagnostics part of the infertility and not just jumped to IVF or injectables. I am thankful for my experience there and for the minds and expertise of doctors like Dr. Carpenter.

Don’t care here. Pick another group. Acrm is only in this for the money. They do not care for you as a person or a couple.
I was assigned to Dr. Sue Ellen Carpender. Good doctor. Only saw her for a couple consultative appointments and one ultra sound. One thing about this group is that you won’t see your «primary» doctor or really any doctor more than once or twice. I do remember seeing dr. Robin Fogle and I liked her! She was caring and made you feel good. I had Tamkia Carter for my patient care coordinator. She was the worst. Terrible to work with. Her job description literally says she will care for you… Which is never the case. She will give you attitude, redirect you to her voice mail and just be rude. When attending an appointment, be prepared to wait 30 minutes or longer past your appointment time before going to the back but your actual appointments are only 10 – 15 minutes long. When needing test results, plan to call in for they won’t call you even after they said they would call either way when they get the results. Have a hard work schedule? Hard time getting off? Well don’t expect flexibility on acrm’s end.
please don’t see these people. They are not worth the one star I have to give them. They only want money and really don’t care for you like other people would. And please don’t think this has anything to do with our outcome– it is strictly based on the experience my husband and I had.

A friend whom had success with ACRM referred me. I was the advanced maternal age of 40 and my husband and I had already been trying a year. I didn’t get referred to them, and just went straight to them. They ran a series of tests. However, when the results came in I met with Dr. Keenan. He basically in a who cares tone, told me I had no chance to get pregnant at my age and especially my weight. I wasn’t huge, but I guess I was to their standards. I didn’t have bad numbers on my tests, but he said even if he gave me stuff to help us conceive that it wouldn’t work due to my weight (never mentioned age, just weight.) He said to accept it and move on because nothing would work for me and I wouldn’t have a success rate due to my weight, then he added in my age. I left devastated. I thought I failed as a woman. I called my parents and apologized that I would never be able to give them grandchildren. I was in awe. I was down and just beyond words of the loss of a potential family for a few weeks.
One day I woke up and wondered why wouldn’t it work when my numbers weren’t really that bad. Just a lower follicule number, but that was of course due to my age. I decided to go back to my OBGYN, Dr. Basil of OBGYN of Atlanta, and told him what happen to me, I was in tears by the end of my explanation. He held my hand and told me he wont let me take that as an answer. He said he never tells anyone this wont happen to them unless they try everything first. So after his exam, he found that my cervix was sealed basically and nothing was getting past it. That was my problem. Not my age, not my weight. So we decided to try 3 IUIs and depending on those outcomes go from there.
The first IUI took, but sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. He then prescribed me a tablet to take during my cycle, that would basically «bring the good eggs forward.» The second IUI didn’t take, but it was preformed by another Dr, and I’m not sure he tried (not a bad Dr, just didn’t feel he knew my case enough to make sure it took.) The third time was a charm and thankfully Dr. Basil was on call and helped us and was
worked, we got pregnant. I had a successful full term pregnancy and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at the age of 42. She turned two yesterday.
The reason I’m writing this, is that I look at my daughter and think, what if I listed to Dr. Keenan at ACRM. My daughter wouldn’t be here today. My weight had nothing to do with my ability for me to get pregnant, and my pregnancy. I had great sugars (wasn’t diabetic before after and during my pregnancy) and great blood pressure until the last week. I was preeclamtic at the end but that was due to my age not weight.
So please don’t let this practice and lack of bed side manor discourage you trying. I can’t imagine how many women they have destroyed visions of family just because they didn’t want to treat them, because they would lower their «success rates.» Especailly those of higher maternal age or weight. You might still have options, and please seek them out. I shouldn’t have self referred myself to them and have gone to my OBGYN first. I can’t express enough how much ACRM broke my heart for no reason other then they didn’t want to deal with me. There was no excuse or medical reason for their «results» to be as negative as they were. I look into my little girls eyes every day and see that what they said wasn’t true. Sometimes I feel like I want to take her to Dr. Keenan, and say «you said I couldn’t get pregnant huh? You said I had no chance? Well look at this beautiful baby girl!!! Anyway, the friend who referred me was embarrassed of my experience after she referred me to them, and swore to never to refer anyone to them again.
FYI they especially relay on weight, even though nothing on their site or paper work states this. So if you have a higher BMI, please avoid the heart ache.
I hope this helps someone, not get brokenhearted as I did.
Also they are impossible to get a hold of. I’ve been trying for days to get my records, and you can’t get through. This might be a problem if you hit that time when you’re just right in your cycle for a procedure like an IUI, and you miss your window because you can’t communicate with them.

For such a stressful time in a person and couple’s life, ACRM did a great job in helping my husband and I thru a stressful and time consuming procedure. They were prompt in answering any questions and I could not have asked for a better group to have worked with.

My husband and I had pretty much given up having children. We made an appt. with ACRM and met with Dr. Sue E. Carpenter. She was great! Easy to talk to and very understanding. We found out that all I needed was a little boost in leveling out my hormones. I have PCOS and that was keeping me from ovulating. The ACRM team along with Dr. Carpenter saw me pretty much weekly. Checked my levels, guided me through the process smoothly. My nurse and scheduler always got back to me the same day or as soon as results were in. My husband and I got great news 10 weeks ago when we found out we were pregnant!!! We were so excited!
We recently got news that our baby didn’t make it. Sometimes these things happen. Age, I’m 39, chromosomes not working together … a number of things. Now we have to get our lives back together and see what our next step will be. If we decide we want to try again we will most definitely go back to Dr. Carpenter to help us try again. It is a lot of money out of pocket, but in the end it is worth it to see that pregnancy can happen with ACRM’s help.

I am currently a new patient. My husband and I started almost 3 months ago. I finally had my HSG and it just sucks the lack of compassion you get. I LOVE Dr. Calhoun, however nothing is what it seems. You will NEVER can get in touch with your appointment person. Do not ever expect anyone to answer your calls or call you back. Do not ever expect anyone to call you about your lab/​test results. They even are rude on your voicemail.
My HSG results weren’t good and they told me that, however I still have to wait 2 weeks for my dr to get an appointment. That is ridiculous.
I understand people are busy and I am not their only patient, but when you are going to spend so much money out of pocket, I expect at the least a little more response.
Don’t expect for them to listen or understand or answer your questions. They are a business that is staffed with techs that don’t care. I can understand anything if you dreaming communicate; however this place has NO communication skills.

Refused to take my doctors referral due to my weight. I suppose that’s one way to keep your successful percentages up. Didn’t have the balls to tell me either, just mid appointment booking they stopped everything and told me they had to refer me to someone else. I had to find out from my obgyn they wouldn’t see me due to my weight. Nothing on their website refers to a weight limit or BMI limit in their policies.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t go here. You MIGHT have an okay experience, or even a good experience, but it’s not worth the roll of the dice. ACRM was one of two places suggested by my OB after more than a year of trying to get pregnant with our second child. ACRM could get us a consult faster than the other place, so this is who we went with. As a side note, I am pregnant now, so this review has nothing to do with results. The doctor we were assigned to was fine, but the practice itself and the way they operate is bad news. First of all, the nurse I was assigned to was very pregnant herself– so as a first impression it wasn’t great. You are ushered in as if it’s a well-​oiled machine to do x, y, z. I didn’t feel like my individual situation was taken into account much. Anyway, we went through with their «recommendations» and once I found out I was pregnant, stopped going. My huge issue with them is their billing practices. We were assigned a «financial counselor» which they present as one of their selling points– to have someone else in charge of the insurance issues, so you don’t have to deal with it and give you one more thing to have to worry about. We were under the impression that that is what he was doing– checking into our insurance to see what was covered versus not covered. We left that first consult visit after being told my insurance covers fertility testing. I asked many times what their definition of testing was. Three months later, we receive a bill with charges. Apparently they used certain billing codes which my insurance did not cover. I’ve been fighting with them for two additional months– after receiving the first bill three months after that first consult visit. All I got for months was «there’s nothing we can do». Finally I got my insurance involved and forced them to provide medical records. Well guess what– they changed the coding. To get me to finally shut up? Probably.

I had a perfect cycle for 7 years, then someone told me to get a preventive check up and I went to an OBGYN. Even with perfect health and perfect cycle she pushed the birth control pill on me. She said it would help my skin … after 2 years I stopped as the side effects were terrible… but the period pains were so bad and OBGYN told me to go on another pill… after 3 years of that I quit and chose the pains instead… I then changed OBGYN every 3 months for 16 years to fix my black spotting, terrible cramps, and unpredictable periods… all of them told me all I had was normal …(they must not know that normal is different from common). After 16 years an OBGYN figured out I had endometriosis and she scheduled me for a surgery. I did some research about her, noted she was rated top doctor in Atlanta by Atlanta magazine and she also had no lawsuits on her. I specifically told her that I wanted an excision from Dr. Albee and she told me that any OBGYN could do that but my insurance covered her only. I did the surgery and when I asked how it went she said it went well and she removed most of the endo except one piece as she was afraid of it getting it infected… ACRM reveview: I went to ACRM as I was referred by my oBGYN. Dr. Hasty was my doctor. She asked a few questions and after that she showed me the sheet with the IVF pricing of $ 18,000 or so. I like to know how much things cost up front, but the way she did it it was like if she didn’t really care about the outcome, this is what you owe me. … I asked a few questions and then I just felt there was something wrong, This was not the direction to go… and I am glad I have a great instinct because then I went back to Dr. Albee to find out how I can tell if my endo surgery went well enough so that an embryo can implant… he told me that based on my problems I still have it… so I went for another surgery, this time with the n. 1 surgeon for endo in the city and top 10 in the country… he spent 1.45 hours on me. I was stage 3 (1 – 4). I asked him how could I be stage 3 after a surgery for endo… I found out that 90% of OBGYN are only trained in burning the endo (which you do not suppose to do) and then tell the patient the endo has a 50−60% chance of coming back… truth is it is not coming back, it was never removed in the first place… so women with endo that will do an IVF will have little chances of getting pregnant… I asked the surgeon what would have been my chances of getting pregnant after the first surgery and he said 30%…after the 2^nd 80% …all my spotting and pains are gone. Period is on time and exactly how it was before the pill. Now I know the job was done well … coming back to ACRM, they didn’t even check on my surgery, didn’t even think about finding out if the surgeon did remove the endo … all they were going to do is to do an IVF and if it didn’t work I could already see them saying: sorry, your fault, it didn’t work… and I had enough of that, I am glad I didn’t go that route… This time around I asked the good surgeon for referral and I will go that route if natural birth wont happen soon. PLEASE, GET AN ENDOMETRIOSIS CHECK BEFORE YOU DO IVF. Most women with unexplained infertility have endo. Clinics know it, they just don’t tell you because it is more profitable for them to give 2 – 3 IVF rather then 1.

I wish I read all those reviews before, I am 35 years old. ACRM they are horrible, horrible, horrible, I tried 3 IUI with them and all fall, I was told to do IVF otherwise I only have 5% chance to get pregnant by my own which make it almost impossible. I was taking all multivitamin, eating right and exercise. The month I was told to do the iVF and take training class I was already pregnant by my own and when I check with my OB& GYN I was diagnosis with underactive thyroid which was the cause of infertility. ACRM never think that will be a problem. Now my beautiful baby Girl is one year old and expecting the second all naturally.
The point I like to pass is check yourself first, what your body is shortage of (do you have underactive thyroid, do have B12 shortage …) and trust GOD he will do the impossible!
If you are eager to wait don’t go to ACRM go to other good Clinic. GOOD Luck every one!

I have pcos and diabetes. Got pregnant right away on Clomid, pregnyl shot and timed intercourse. Had miscarriage at 7w4d. I believe due to low progesterone. Even though they kind of dropped the ball on monitoring my progesterone past 4 wks pregnant I am still giving them 5 stars. Our nurse Melissa and Rebecca respond right away, test results prompt, waiting almost non existent. In and out and I prefer it that way when I’m trying to fit in all the visits along the way with work. Follow up is excellent. Our Dr. Toner is great. Wish us luck for round two. This is at the perimeter office btw. Also love the receptionist there.

Even if I had not gotten pregnant, I would highly recommend ACRM. First, I loved my doctor, Dr Kathryn Calhoun, she is extremely smart, explained things in an easy manner to understand and was always on time. That gets me to my next point, efficiency! I never waited more than 15 minutes to see the doctor. This practice clearly knows how to properly schedule patients. Third, dedication — my IVF treatment cycle coincided with the famous «ice storms» in Feb 2014. The doctor on duty, Dr David Keenan and staff SPENT THE NIGHT in the office so they could see patients the next day. Yes, you see multiple doctors, this never bothered me. I never had trouble getting an appointment, which was most important in my opinion.
I don’t really believe IUI works, it essentially is really well timed conception. In my case, after two failed IUIs, we went the IVF route and it was a success the first time around. I feel incredibly lucky, although, since being discharged, I really miss their office efficiency and staff. I feel like they cared about me as a patient. I would highly recommend ACRM to anyone who is facing challenges getting pregnant.

I went here for an HSG. The HSG is not something that is easy and I think it requires a slight amount of compassion, at least at a minimum. But at acrm you really are just a number. Everything is mechanical and the nurse and tech are like medical pods. I guess because they do several procedures like this daily, they are just jaded and it is nothing but a business transaction. Don’t expect any bedside manner or niceties. Get naked, here is the test, here are your clothes and see you bye. Literally! I have not used them for any infertility procedures but if I was to cross that bridge I would totally go somewhere else. None of these procedures are covered by insurance so you would think that since they get paid an exorbitant amount of money they would at least make an effort to be more empathetic. Nope… not the case here. Oh and my tubes were clear so no, I am not bitter.

Be warned… I wish I had the option of no stars. Basically I am not pregnant, and I did 2 rounds of IUI. Fist time I had a chemical pregnancy, second time nothing. So here is why I would not choose ACRM and why I am moving onto another clinic: staff is very rude, and please keep in mind I went to the Johns Creek location, never told of any side effects, and when I asked questions I was blown off. You will NEVER actually speak to a dr and it is never the medication’s fault… only yours. I was actually told that I had a virus and to see my primary care physician when I was actually having a miscarriage from the chemical pregnancy. Need I say more.

We were thrilled with every aspect of working with the doctors and nurses at ACRM. We have been patients for almost four years, and tried many fertility treatments, while also taking breaks to try on our own. We faced nothing but support and patience at ACRM as we explored the treatment that was right for us. We primarily worked with Dr. Hasty and found her bedside manner and expertise to be first class. I have always felt I was under the best care possible throughout a process that can be highly emotional. If you are having infertility issues, I can’t imagine better caregivers than the staff at ACRM.

The two star rating «Meh. I’ve experienced better» really sums up my experience with ACRM.
I was 38 years old when I met with Dr. Lisa Hasty. I didn’t have a referral, but since I was advanced maternal age, I thought it would be prudent to get checked out and discover if there were any obstacles in my path for getting pregnant. As it turns out, there were obstacles!
Pro: I was evaluated and diagnosed quickly. I learned I had polyps in my uterus would prevent me from getting pregnant. I also learned I have PCOS.
Pro: I had surgery with ACRM to remove the polyps and was given a prescription to help with the PCOS.
Pro: I got pregnant the month following the surgery.
Con: I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. While I don’t blame ACRM for the miscarriage, the nurse was unavailable to return my call in time to have the miscarried embryo tested for chromosomal abnormalities.
Con: There was very little follow up from the nurse or doctor following the miscarriage.
Con: I had to complain about the service from our nurse and request a new one.
We continued TTC for a year following the miscarriage. Now 39 years old, I called and asked if we should try something new. Dr. Hasty prescribed Clomid, which we tried twice. These cycles were very hard on me with a lot of side effects. She then recommended Femara explaining it was much better for older women — so why didn’t she prescribe it earlier? The Letrozole was easier on my system and I became pregnant that cycle. Unfortunately, I had another miscarriage at 6 weeks.
Con: Dr. Hasty never followed up. She never recommended any other avenues to get pregnant. I suspect she didn’t push IVF because I was an older patient and she didn’t want to risk me tarnishing her success rates?
I was almost 40 when I pushed for the IVF consult. I was shocked when Dr. Hasty showed me the success rates for someone 40 vs. 38. I was disappointed that so much time had passed decreasing our chances for success. I believe she should have recommended IVF within 6 months of my first visit since the chances of me getting pregnant were so much higher at 38 vs. 40.
IVF #1:
Our first ACRM IVF cycle was a retrieval with day-​3 CCS testing (something I later learned was no longer an industry standard and NOT recommended by the best clinics in the country). Those results showed that none of our embryos were viable with the exception of one embryo, which tested inconclusive due to an ACRM lab error (a big deal!)
PRO: Following this IVF cycle, I had a follow-​up with Dr. Toner. I was feeling quite defeated after discovering that we had ZERO chromosomally normal embryos, but Dr. Toner encouraged me to try again. Of all the encounters I had with doctors and nurses at the practice, he made the most positive impression. He seemed knowledgeable and caring.
CON: I discussed changing my protocol at length with Dr. Toner, sharing that I had multiple 38+ friends who used a different protocol and became pregnant after making that change. He was certain that a change would not affect my outcome.
IVF #2:
A couple of months later, we did our second IVF with ACRM using day-​5 CCS testing (industry standard) and day 6 embryo freezing (their lab does not do state of the art 5-​day testing and 6-​day transfers nor do they do vitrification freezing). This cycle produced two normal embryos. Unfortunately, when we did the frozen embryo transfer, neither implanted resulting in another failed pregnancy attempt.
CON: No one followed up with me following the negative HCG blood test. I had to schedule an appointment to follow-​up with Dr. Hasty.
CON: Dr. Hasty was very discouraging and said she would only do one more IVF attempt with me. She pushed donor eggs.
CON: When I asked her if changing my protocol might improve our odds she was dismissive and I left feeling deflated.
I did some internet research and discovered that for my age group, ACRM has low success rates when compared to other clinics. I decided to look into all of the clinics nationally and regionally with high success rates for women 40+. This led me to a clinic in North Carolina. I was able to get a telephone consult right away with the new doctor. To my surprise, he called and talked with me about my IVF history for nearly 2-​hours! He noted multiple red flags regarding my treatment at ACRM, including lab quality issues, their use of outdated (not gold standard practices), and using one-​size fits all protocols that are not the best for older women.
IVF #3
I switched to the NC clinic for IVF #3. The doctor changed my protocol, discontinued CCS testing and did a fresh day-​6 transfer. The result: a successful pregnancy! I’m sitting here with my beautiful baby boy who just turned 3 months old.
In summary, compare success rates for your age group before choosing a clinic and don’t hesitate to travel to get the best results.

I can understand that some reviews are based on whether or not the reviewer became pregnant by using ACRM (Pregnant = 5 Star Review; Not Pregnant = 1 Star Review). Here is an unbiased review — as I ultimately chose not to use ACRM. And, as a medical professional myself, here is my personal and professional opinion — stay away from ACRM.
My situation is pretty straightforward. I have do not have fallopian tubes and have successfully conceived via IVF at another clinic, GRS. I knew that based on my age, I would need multiple IVF cycles in increase my chances of conceiving again. I chose ACRM because of their attractive Attain Refund program. I continually asked for the program information, costs and qualifications. Instead I received a battery of tests — many of the tests were unnecessary. After three months, I questioned the fact that they still wanted to do more tests (all tests thus far were normal). For instance, an HSG test was recommended. Why? Did they think after 8 years that my fallopian tubes grew back? When I questioned the reason for the HSG test they answered «to check the size of your uterine cavity.» I told them that was absurd considering they had just done a hysteroscopy — and knew that I had a carried a baby full-​term without any complications. I expressed that I was frustrated with the delay and the tests. At my persistence, they finally decided to start an IVF cycle.
Just as we are about to start the IVF cycle, they told me I didn’t qualify for the Attain refund program because of my «previous treatment cycles». A rep from the Attain program called me later that day and said that was NOT the case at all. I didn’t qualify because of my age. ACRM knew I never qualified for the Attain refund program based on my age. But they chose to delay my chances of conceiving and subject me to the cost and stress of unnecessary tests. In our profession, we don’t call that disorganized — we call that unethical.
Infertility is stressful and emotional. You need timely, empathetic and individualized care — ACRM does not provide any of these. Save yourself the time, heartache and disappointment — go to Georgia Reproductive Specialists.

I was very surprised after reading some of the Unilocal reviews of ACRM and wanted to share my own experience.
I went to the Perimeter location and was seen by Dr. Hasty. She is very kind and knowledgeable and always allowed plenty of time to answer my questions and re-​explain something I might not have immediately understood.
I was incredibly impressed by the office, some tests/​labwork need to be completed on very specific days and ACRM is open most weekends and holidays to accommodate people who need to either schedule or go in for testing.
The lab turnaround time is extremely fast and for the majority of tests, if blood is drawn before 2 p.m. you will get your results the same day!
As a patient, you will be assigned a nurse, patient care coordinator and someone on the billing side of things. I found the email system very effective and if I emailed my nurse a question, she usually responded by the end of the day.
I visited the office many times and never had any scheduling issues or mishaps of any kind.
Overall, I felt I received very thorough care and was very impressed by the kindness of the entire staff.
At my urging, one of my friends started seeing a different physician at the John’s Creek location and is equally pleased with her experience there.

I looked at reviews on places like Kudzu about this place and it seems the reviews are always highly mixed and very polar. People either give them a 1 or a 5 and there’s very little in between. If you look even closer, you’ll find that most of the 5’s got pregnant and most of the 1’s either got turned away or didn’t get pregnant. So whatever people have to say is clearly going to be influenced by their results. People have a willingness to let go of the bothersome crap they go through if the results are good. Likewise, bad experiences that culminate in a bad result, just multiply. Not that different from a restaurant or hotel stay really in which one bad experience that isn’t taken care of suddenly results in you nitpicking over every little thing in an attempt to justify your conclusion that the place sucks.
First, I will say that it could be that ACRM turns people away to keep their stats high. On the other hand it could be that they want for you to have the highest probability of success because its a lot of money, time, emotional investment and work. If someone said to me that I had a very low probability of success, would I still want to go through all that? Maybe so, or maybe not. There are always doctors out there who will be happy to take your money regardless of your chances, so does the fact that ACRM doesn’t, make them good or bad or neither? Just because they may have an alterior motive doesn’t make it the wrong choice.
Next, yes, the receptionists aren’t the friendliest folks. This is absolutely true. They range from friendly to clueless to maybe they’ll wack you in the parking lot when you leave. I wish they would all be friendly, its how it should be. In the big picture however, you’re not coming here for the receptionist, get over it.
When we first started coming here, they did seem a little clueless, a little disorganized. We wondered if the right hand knew what the left hand was doing and we got very concerned about that. What we ended up doing was paying very close attention to everything they told us and when it later contradicted anything, we brought it up and made sure we were all on the same page. After a while, everything did start to click into place and we didn’t have any further issues.
The nurse was always available or at least called back that day. They always called when they said they would. We were extremely dilligent in following directions. No missed medicines, everything was done exactly as it should be done. On the day of my egg retrieval, the anesthesiolgoist, the doctor AND the nurse all called seperately to check on me and ensure there were no issues.
I knew going in that I was going to have to do IVF because of a medical issue. I had no illusions about that. I also knew that I was young and generally healthy and my issue didn’t affect my eggs. They never «pushed» donor eggs on me as some people felt, because they didn’t need to. I suspect if your eggs aren’t good quality or they don’t feel you’ll have enough, they may do that, which is probably again a way of increasing your probability of success as opposed to a way to pull more money out of you, but I think if your eggs are good, it will never come up.
They pulled out a basket full of eggs from me, all fertilized, all made it to day 5 (implantation) and they put in the best 2 and froze the best of the remaining. Pretty good right? See, told you I’ve got some quality eggs baby!
So now I’m pregnant which is what we wanted, perfect! Whether they’re the best in Atlanta, I don’t know. It was one of the places my doctor, who is very good, referred me to. I got the results I wanted, yes there was a little confusion here and there and a few things that made me go ARRRGHHH!, but whatever. You get past it and you deal with it.
If you’re over 40, if you’re overweight, if you have poor quality eggs or few eggs, yeah, they may tell you that your odds aren’t good and they don’t want to work with you. Either find another way or find another doctor who will take your money and not care if you’re wasting it, thats a personal choice. Also, they do offer emotional support groups or whatever but look, they’re here to get you pregnant and yeah, they do try to hold your hand a little bit and make you feel good but they’re not here to be yor pyschologist and treat you like a child. They’re here to increase your odds of getting pregnant using their medical expertise. If you want emotional support, I strongly suggest you find it elsewhere.
Overall, I thought they did what they said they were going to do how they said they would. They called when they said, they followed up when they said and they were able to deliver the desired result, at least in my case. Was it always perfect? no way. But nothing in life is perfect. I’ve stayed at the 4 Seasons Maui and still managed to find a few flaws but you know what? I had a great stay anyway.
So yeah, I would recommend these guys sure.
