Atlanta Arts Festival

Beautiful. Although it only lasted until about 6p, the art was oh so beautiful. Quite costly, but there was so much to choose from. Mostly paintings and glass. The cheapest that I seen was a poster size portrait for $ 20, but they go up into the thousands. If you want some beautiful wall art for your home, this is the place. The artist are from all over; the south mostly.

Great experience. Good variety of artists! Parking is god-​awful at Piedmont Park though so be careful where you rest your vehicle!

Wow! There is so much to see at this art festival! I entered by the 10^th street entrance and there were so many artists and vendors showcasing their work. The vendors are laid out around the paths in the park so it is easy to walk through and loop back to where you came from. I had a great time looking at the art work!

The Atlanta Art Festival is an annual festival held in August and it is a great place to view a huge collection of art from well over two hundred local and out of state artists who sell a variety of paintings, photography, jewelry, forged iron, stained glass, wood carvings, statues, stylish hammocks, clothing, furniture, bird houses, etc, they have something for everyone here, even live muzik.
In terms of cost, the majority of the art at the festival ranges anywhere from around $ 50 and as much as $ 5k or more, they have small art pieces as well as huge pieces. For some, the majority of the art can be a bit pricey, but it is still worth checking them out. One of the artists was selling sculpture that he carved out of wood, they were beautiful, and one in particular that really caught my eye was of a beautiful Bald eagle, carved from the limb of a tree.
Anyone who visits the majority of the festivals here in Atlanta will see many of their favorite food trucks (Happy Belly, The Fry Guy, Honeysuckle, Genki Noodles and Sushi, Viet Nomie’s, Nectar, etc.) and of course the local King of Pop popsicle cart.
If you miss the opportunity to come to The Atlanta Art Festival, there are other art festivals and quite a few of the same artists that were here this year will be at the others as well.
Overall, it seemed well planned and organized. If you love to support the local artists in the community and are looking for something unique for your home, I highly recommend coming to the art festival.

I’ve been attending this festival for years upon years. It’s always been a place where I could see a lot of art forms in one place at one time while enjoying the outdoors.
There are a ton of artists — mixed media, sculpture (including glass, metal, clay and wood), paintings, digital art, photography, cloth — so many different forms of art and all striking or beautiful depending on your taste. There are also jewelry, leather, and fabric artists as well.
There is some food — the standard carnival fare of funnel cakes and corn dogs and other things to make you fat and/​or increase your cholesterol. This year there was a vendor making wood-​stove individual pizzas that looked pretty good, and another vendor making non-​alcoholic pina coladas that tasted wonderful, but I wish he’d had some rum on hand for adults! (Wine and beer is available at the stations where you can buy water and sodas.)
There is a huge area for kids around the playground. They have people in that area performing songs and making balloon animals. Watch out for strollers though. Some of them are as big as a Smart car.
There are a few stages with live music. I mostly saw acoustic players during my time there. I love that they provide good music while not dominating the area so you can still browse and talk with your friends without having to yell.
My only bummer for this festival is the cost of the art. While beautiful, much of the art is very expensive. And by expensive I mean a statue or similar piece the size of a basketball could be between $ 3,500 — $ 4,000 and a piece the size of a grapefruit could be $ 600-​$ 800. Large paintings/​mixed media/​photography and such would range between $ 1,600-$ 2,200 with smaller pieces more reasonable between $ 65-​$ 150 — however, for the smaller version the impact of the art would be lost. Maybe because I’m not knowledgeable about art buying in general the work seemed expensive when really it’s not. Or maybe I just liked the most expensive things at the festival!
I usually park along Virginia Avenue and walk through the park to the festival, but you can park at Piedmont park in the lot (accessible via Monroe Drive). This year the maximum daily rate was a whopping $ 15. I don’t remember what the hourly rates were, so you should look them up before you go.
All in all, it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
