Great food and pizza. Staff on the slow side. They work at their own pace. If you’re in a hurry go elsewhere.

Their pizza are great but not so much the pastas. I come here occasionally and the pizzas are usually good; although, they take pretty long. Their Sicilian slices are unique in that the bread is very thick. The pastas were ok but not great; however, given that their price is cheap I do come time to time to eat pasta here.

First of all, our waitress, Tyler, was superb!(Wish I had bookoodles of $$$ so I could have tipped her better than .20!). The Prosciutto pizza … Yum. Rye beer: great! Gotta make the Transmetropolitan a regular stop!

The only negative was the bathroom. The door had a frosted window so it didn’t feel adequately private… Otherwise the pizza was very good, the service was great, the price was reasonable compared to similar non-chain joints. We were there on Sun. afternoon & were seated immediately. Pizza took 15 – 20 min. & ingredients were very fresh. I’d give them 5 stars if they would replace that janke bathroom door.

Food was OK. I had the Italian Meats Calzone — was pretty good, big chunks of meat with an unexpectedly spicy marinara with heat that kind of builds. It was a little small for $ 10. Nothing to write home about. The wait staff was generally disinterested and service was very slow. Over an hour before we got our food and when we arrived there was hardly anybody there. One person in our party got the wrong burger — twice. Other waitress spilled an entire tray of drinks on the floor and amazingly, no one ever cleaned it up. Huge puddle with ice cubes and lemons on the floor for over an hour — they are lucky nobody slipped and fell. There are a lot of great options for food in the immediate area, and this one isn’t worth the effort, in my opinion.

Had the Italian Meats Cal-zone and a Sicilian slice of Hawaiian. Calzone was very good and unique. Probably wouldn’t do the Hawaiian again, but your mileage may vary. Also had the Mozz Caprese as an appetizer and that was, well, it’s mozz and tomatoes so it is what it is. They have this thing where you can buy the kitchen a round of beers for $ 5. I did, and when the waitress went back to the kitchen, we heard a cheer come from the kitchen. And that sort of things just doesn’t happen every day where you have a chance to make 3 or 4 people happy for $ 5. When I asked the waitress if that was a local thing, she said no, its just the kind of thing TransMet does that make it a fun place to work.

The food used to be good. Now it is shit. Also when I talked to the manager about the poor experience I had rather than at least pretending to care he was a rude little hobbit. The staff all seemed to find it entertaining that I wanted to complain to a manager(they clearly knew it was a useless effort) and I had several waiters hear my complaint before I spoke with him. We ordered a pizza and because of previous experiences we asked that it be cooked a little longer than usual. When the pizza came out it had not been cooked long enough by anyone’s standard. The crust was dough-y. The manager first said, «That’s how we make it.» Then once probed longer said, «Well we only have one oven right now.» So you’re under cooking pizza on purpose because you have one oven? I have spoken with several friends and co-workers who have also had bad experiences recently. It seems like once they began remodeling the store the food went downhill. The staff is polite but are inattentive and take too long to refill drinks and what not. If you want pizza downtown just go to Ted’s Most Best or Little Italy. Even Brixx is a better option.

I went to TransMet without any expectations of the food, but I was told that the food was pretty decent. I’m not easily impressed with food; however, it does take a lot for me to not like the experience. I went to lunch with my co-workers. I had the spinach and artichoke panini. It tasted extremely bland. I was surprised at how much of a lack of flavor it had. Also to add to the disappointment, the side of potatoes were burnt and there was only 3 of them. I wish I could say that I was the only one that had that experience, but most of my co-workers felt the same way and they had different dishes. Two of my friends had the the pasta dishes and they also felt that it lacked so much flavor, they were adding the pizza herbs and spices to it. Another co-worker ordered the Cobb salad which was suppose to come with bacon. The salad was so small and at first different even come with bacon that it had to be sent back. Another co-worker had the lasagna and unfortunately, it looked better than it tasted. I left the restaurant wanting another meal because I definitely wasn’t satisfied and ended up going to another place to eat. I was told that the pizza is great and that’s what they’re known for. I’m not completely ruling this place out. If I end up going again, I’ll just get the pizza and reevaluate this restaurant.

I will never eat here again. The worst possible service I’ve ever experienced at a pizza restaurant. I ordered 2 sliced of cheese pizza TOGO. I waited 30 minutes to get them, and they were cold. This wasn’t a busy night or I would completely understand. This also isn’t the first time this has happened. I was giving them one more chance and they ruined it. Will not be returning.

I came here with a large group of 8 people after a basketball game on campus. It had mixed reviews so we figured we’d give it a shot. The food was fantastic but the service was extremely slow! Not sure if our server was new, but it took him about 15 – 20 minutes to get a bottle of beer. He got everyone else’s drink at the table except for this bottle of beer which should’ve been the easiest drink to serve. Besides the service, the food was very good! We started with the Roasted Garlic dip and focaccia bread. This was the most amazing garlic appetizer I’ve had in a while! The dip was actual whole cloves of roasted garlic in oil. Loved that! My main entrée was the Pasta Capri. It consisted of cheese tortellini, mushrooms, and baked eggplant(or chicken, your choice) in a basil pesto sauce. The sauce was very thick but not overwhelming. I’d definitely give this place another try with a different server as we may have better luck next time.

For this place being in a college town, the food isn’t bad. But the service is terrible. Expect a wait when ordering food and especially drinks. The bar is kind of slow and the wait staff is too. The food on the other hand is pretty good. I had a Louisiana Blackened Chicken Pizza(minus the jalapenos on my half). It was great. Nice and hot and full of flavor. If you have time to spare and don’t mind waiting for a while to order and get your food, I’d say it’s worth a shot to try out.

This is a cool pizza spot in downtown Athens. The space has maintained the original structure with a lot of character and charm. Especially on the second floor, the window panes, hardwood floors, and overall feel of the venue make you feel like you’re in an authentic saloon. For the architecture alone this restaurant gets high marks. The food was delicious. I had two thin crust slices of their vegetarian pesto and loved every bite. Also had a side salad with spinach substituting lettuce and it was really good too. My friends, one couple ordered a medium pizza that had ham and a few other toppings and they devoured most of it. The other couple had a thai calzone and didn’t leave a crumb so I’m guessing they were pretty satisfied! Word of caution when ordering, slices are large so if you’re not that hungry, order conservatively. The medium pizza that was at our table looked like a large, they are really generous with portion sizes! Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. This is a downtown spot worth checking out for pizza aficionados.

These people take pizza to a whole new level! I had a slice of the chicken pesto and the fresh ingredients stood out. Very very good! I opted for the Sicilian size on my second piece and was SHOCKED at its size — wow! Took a few bites and plan to have the rest for breakfast. Nice beers on tap and very friendly customer service ! So glad we are here!

Has become pretty hit and miss. Out of the past several times I’ve gone, I’ve sometimes been satisfied with what I’ve gotten(usually two slices of a pizza), and other times been kinda disappointed. It’s also quite pricey, though unlike Mellow, you can order single slices after lunch.

Ahhh nostalgia. I was always a huge fan of Transmet when I lived in Athens, so naturally we went here for a late dinner when we rolled into Athens the night before the game. I’m not sure if I had it on an Athens memories pedestal or if I’m spoiled by great food and service in Atlanta, but Transmet just wasn’t quite what I remembered it to be. The hostess immediately sat us upstairs, a huge plus on a busy game weekend Friday night in Athens. Our server was friendly, but not the best.(Then again I was once the world’s worst waitress in Athens, so maybe I shouldn’t judge.) Our table of three ordered a pitcher of pumpkin beer. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the first pumpkin beer I have ever liked, but I liked it so much I ordered a pint of it after we finished the pitcher. One of my friends was basically not drinking, and the other requested a Terrapin for himself. Only in a college town does«I’ll have a Terrapin» result in a pitcher rather than a pint. Gotta love Athens! Now for the pizza itself. I split a chicken pesto pizza with one of my friends. It was good but not great. Antico, Varasano’s, Fellini’s, and yes even Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta are all better than a pizza at Transmet. It was perfectly tasty, especially when doused in ranch, but truthfully I remembered their pizza as being a lot better. My other buddy got alfredo pasta with an assortment of vegetables and found it to be alright as well. In summary, the service is what you would expect from college kids working downtown Athens and the pizza isn’t anywhere nearly as spectacular as I remembered it. The location is great, and the memories are even greater, so I’ll continue coming back even if it ain’t as good as it once was.

Worst servers ever. I have been here five times now, thinking, «I’ll give them anther chance.» Never worked: from lazy servers, to screwing up our meal, bringing the wrong drink ANDMAKINGUSPAYFORBOTH(even when it was the servers fault!), to getting attitude from a server, it has never been worth it. Food is ok. But the service is terrible and slow. Their pizza is overrated.

Stop #3 in our restaurant hopping for our Athens Day trip was at the Transmetropolitan(Transmet for short) in downtown Athens. Apparently they are known for their pizza, but we wanted to save our stomach for some more food later in the day, so we opted for just one slice of pizza. The Red Curry Thai pizza was calling out to us, with the peppers, onions, breaded eggplant, and mozzarella cheese. I mean, how can you pass that up? You can’t. It was glorious. There’s a Thai Pizza restaurant in St. Louis that I frequented when I was in college, and this reminded me a lot of it. We had also ordered this to-go and the waitress told us it would be a 15 minute wait, but it turned out to be shorter than that so we were happy. However, I can’t speak too much to the atmosphere or service since we did take it to go. Parking: street parking for $ 0.75 per hour(2 hr max), or parking deck for $ 5. *Disclaimer: Came here for a day trip in Athens, quickly hitting up some of the local faves.

We stopped in here today because we came downtown to have pizza at Amici and watch the soccer match a bit. But they were closed, and this was the next pizza place we came across. We’re new in town, so didn’t know much better. Haven’t gotten our food yet(the correct order, at least), but so far not impressed with service. Been sitting here for about 15 minutes with an empty drink glass. They brought our pizza out, but it wasn’t made correctly – barely got an apology out of the waitress as she took it back. Hoping that the right pizza actually is worth the hassle. Back now – the replacement pizza was mediocre at best. Essentially no sauce, the«extra» mozzarella described on the menu was less than what normally comes on a pizza. And we still found rogue onions among the toppings after repeatedly requesting their absence. The crust was good. That’s about all I’ve got in the way of positive comments. The manager was sympathetic to the repeated mistakes, and do offer to take some off the price of the pizza. Not much atmosphere to speak of, very loud inside, and hot. I felt like I was baking at the table. Heard that the upstairs area is nice, but was full so we stayed downstairs. Won’t be returning to see what the upstairs actually has to offer.

Party Size = 6 people including 1 future UGA student and 1 student whose boyfriend attends UGA. Make sure you read the 38 reviews that Unilocal doesn’t recommend on this place and you may think, as I did, that the 3+ stars they are getting are really not deserved. Go to this place IF you enjoy waiting over an hour for the first course of your food i.e. a salad. Go to this place IF you enjoy having a rude waitress who blames everyone else for her slow service i.e. «The kitchen is backed up because there is a graduation party» and does nothing to correct the situation. Graduation parties happen year in and year out in this town. Wouldn’t a restaurant figure it out by now??? And how is their lack of planning and staffing my problem again? Oh wait, 4 tables were served before we were by a waiter(despite said grad party) who stood at the kitchen pushing the kitchen staff for his stuff while our waitress fluffed about. Right it’s the kitchen’s fault. Go to this place IF you enjoy complaining to the manager only to discover the manager is actually the pizza maker and looks like he has done so much weed in his student career he has trouble focusing on what you are saying. Salads = Wonderful Pizza = Awful The«Traditional» is more like 2 inches thick of bread with measly sauce and cheese. The«Thin crust» is edible but has a slightly tasting sweet marina sauce on it. Ewww. Turkey Sandwich = Awful My husband had two bites and left it for the waitress to pick up.
