Specialties
The food at The National draws from traditions of Mediterranean and Spanish cuisines while highlighting the bounty of locally-grown ingredients in and around Athens, Ga. Our high-end wine and cocktail bar remains open with tapas available between lunch and dinner, as well as Counter Culture espresso and drip coffee.
History
Established in 2007.
Envisioned as a casual neighborhood gathering spot reminiscent of bars and cafés in Europe, The National is located in a restored 1950s Plymouth car dealership and Tire Recap Plant that is shared with Ciné, an arthouse cinema, barcafé and arts event space.
The food at The National is inspired by Chef Peter Dale’s interests in cooking, travel and food politics. The National features food inspired by his favorite cuisines — Spanish, French, North African, Greek, eastern Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern.
