The Dawg House Grooming and Gifts

My first time using this groomer — I got my dog back bloody.
I took my dogs to get bathed and brushed. I explicitly told the manager, Adam, that I only wanted the pads of my dog’s feet clipped. While I was on the phone, mid conversation, he starts asking another employee about her vacation and new tattoos. I found out later that because of this, he «didn’t hear» me tell him that I didn’t want my dog’s coat cut.
When I picked up my dogs, it was clear that although I had paid $ 100 (plus a $ 20 tip) for the grooming, they hadn’t actually been bathed — only sprayed with cologne. There was still dirt matted in my dogs coat and there was blood dripping from his belly. His genital area had been cut and this made him cry out in pain every time he urinated.
I went back the next day and told the manager what I had found. He literally LAUGHED AT ME and told me that if I wanted a refund, I’d have to come back the next day and talk to the owner, Lisa Vogt.
When I spoke to Lisa, she was very rude, refused to refund what I had paid, and gave me the run around. She told me that she didn’t have time to talk to me and insisted I leave. When I asked her if she could tell me what credit card I had used, she told me she would check the system «in an hour or so». When I told her I’d wait, she called the cops and said I was harassing her.
The cops came and gave me advice to take her to small claims court since I clearly did not receive services I paid for.
Buyer beware. This place doesn’t care about your pets.

I have used Lisa for the past 3 years. It is always hard to hand your pup over to someone else, but Lisa makes it easier. The staff is beyond wonderful and my Shih-​Tzu/​Poodle and Chocolate Lab are always welcomed. The care and attention given to each dog is amazing. They are kept in open play groups with other dogs until it is their turn. You always get a call when your pup is finished. Plus their grooming techniques are safe and reliable! This is the only place to take your dog to get groomed in Athens!

My Shih Tzu, Ophelia, was a first time customer yesterday, and I just have to say that the service here was fantastic! The price was great, and she came home looking really beautiful. She also looked relaxed and happy, so I really couldn’t hope for more than that. The goody bag was a nice touch. It had a small bag of specialty food and a toy. I only wish I could post a photo for everyone to see, but for some reason she hates to have her picture taken. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks Dawgs House!

Brought in my two Yorkies to get all cleaned up. Loved the attentive service and feedback from the groomer. My puppies are going to be regulars here.

I have been taking my dog to Lisa prior to her opening the new shop. One difference with Lisa and this shop is they care for your animal while they are there. My dog is a diva sometimes and Lisa goes of of her way to make my dog comfortable. In addition they do a great job with grooming and very knowledgeable about the products used. I will continue to take my dog there as long as I live in this area.

We take our golden doodle here and Julie does an amazing job! Our dog has a blast there and our dog looks amazing every time we take him. I honestly don’t understand the bad review on this place because Julie is incredibly personable and we have never had anything but a great experience there! Maybe it was a one time issue on the other post. Regardless, we would recommend this place to anyone!

I read the poor reviews but ultimately decided to go with The Dawg House because they were the only Athens groomers that listed prices on their website. I understand that the price varies from dog to dog but I just want to know a ballpark figure before I even call a place.
My standard poodle has been to at least three other groomers and I have been disappointed (and sometimes heartbroken) each time I pick him up and that’s the reason I quit taking him anywhere. I always tell the groomer to keep as much hair as possible and to not shave it but somehow that’s what usually happens. except for the time I picked him up and he was half shaved and half poof ball.
Today was my first time going to The Dawg House and they got it right and actually listened to what I wanted. At the drop off we discussed each area on his body and made sure that I approved any shaving or trimming. I’m also used to paying twice this amount and hating the end result so I could not be happier. Will definitely be going back to this place!
