History

Established in 2007.

Mike’s Dog shack started from a basic New York style hot dog cart. As clientele grew and the weather hitting winter we decided it was time to move indoors. With great food, fresh toppings, it allowed us to establish our selves in the Athens community. Little by little we added ciggs and beer. Next on the list is the ohio lottery. Mike’s dog shack is basically like a speedway without the gas.

Ohio U alumni Mike Carson started Mike’s dog shack with the principle that if I would it there so would others. 7 years later and things are running great. All dogs are grilled up fresh to order. Try for you self to see who really has the best hotdogs in ohio!

I live an hour away and the first thing I do when I go to Athens is stop at Mike’s Dog Shack. First I have to get a Taco in a bag and they make them however YOU like them! Then I have to get a Dog made special for me… yummy! Another awesome part is the owner is there and you can actually talk to him which makes the experience more personable. Its a super cool, down to earth, and chill place to be and right in the mist of everthing! If you are looking for quick eats, that are easy on the wallet, and can get it day or night; this is for you! Now I just need one in my neighborhood:)

At 2am, drunk, the common student stumbles into Mike’s — hungry after a long night of debauchery. However, this is no place no place for FOOD. They serve reheated frozen hot dogs and corn dogs, along with a small selection of alcohol. Genius. I have to say, Mike’s Dog Shack serves its purpose and does satisfy (but it’s awful). Lesson learned — never go in sober.
