Great place with lots of different options I highly recommend the chips and dip appetizer(only $ 3 the pimento cheese is the best!) plus if they have the buffalo chicken casserole again try that for sure

Wish I had read all reviews first. Had corn beef hash and eggs. My husband had traditional breakfast they forgot the eggs which was overcooked. We were not happy. Sorry not interested in returning ever. The waitress was very nice. Blond with the pretty hair not so much.

Really great blueberry pancakes. Also One of the better biscuits I have had in Athens. I was also impressed with their corn beef hash

Great food. Great service. The pancakes are great and the manager is personable. It is a little pricey, and I think that the location is terrible though.

Favorite local restaurant in town! Great scenery and delicious menu! Can’t beat the tofu scramble!

Very disappointed. My wife and I arrived for dinner around 5:30 pm on Friday. We were the only ones dining at that time. Once the food arrived our waitress disappeared. No waitress equals no drink refills. The food was bland and the portions small. We will not be back.

I had a few different things, and none of them was any good. The Cuban was below average(the Cuban roll bread was woeful). The Reuben was meh. The sweet potato fries were meh. The coffee was meh. The chicken wings were tiny and hard. The spring rolls were delicious however! Weirdly, our waitress smelled like liquor. She was very nice though.

Great little spot for breakfast with a great staff. We take the whole family for breakfast every Friday. The biscuit with egg, bacon and Gouda is out of this world good.

The food there is delicious! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 is because both times I have been, the service was slow. The first time I went, it took them so long, that I had to have them box it up because I needed to leave. The second time I ate there, my food came out with the rest of the group, but my husband’s food came out a full 10 mins after the rest of the group. :/As I said, the food is amazing & as someone with Celiac’s Disease, having so many gluten-free options is great! Also, the atmosphere there is always wonderful. They have jasmine outside around their seating area & when it’s blooming, the smell is intoxicating & inside, they occasionally have someone playing soothing, peaceful music. I will definitely go back & hope to have better luck with the service.

I don’t get it. The food and the service were both better when they were in Watkinsville. And the menu is not new, it’s the exact menu they used to have, with two differences: they no longer have my favorite item, fried green tomatoes; and some of the prices are higher. Got take out twice in two weeks. Wrong both times, portions too small for the price, and bland. Months later we went in to eat twice; won’t be going back. First time was between mediocre and ok, second time really tried my patience. A table 15 feet away was extremely loud and rude. They were clearly bothering all the other customers. We asked the server twice to ask them to keep it down. She said she would, but was clearly too scared to. So I had to do it myself. Pathetic. The potatoes were rock hard. My scrambled eggs were practically raw. There were only 4 tables in the whole place, but our food for two took 25 minutes and arrived cold. Didn’t receive a side of bacon; when she finally brought it, guess what? It was cold.

The food is good but the service is terrible. Each time we go, we say we are not coming back. It’s so close for us that we have given it one more try several times, but this is the last time. Today’s experience: we had to let them know we were ready to order after sitting for a while then it took forever(40 minutes) to get two sandwiches. Then they didn’t have change to give us so we had to use our credit card. I asked the waiter for our troubles if we could get a blueberry muffin to go(no change and having to wait so long) He laughed and I said I’m not kidding please ask the owner. He came out and gave us our bill to sign with no mention of the muffin so I asked about it. He said no with a nervous laugh.

I have to change my review since my last visit. Our server was great today, he even repeated each of our orders back to us and wrote everything down so I don’t think he was at fault, but I’m not sure what happened with the kitchen because everything came out wrong. My boyfriend ordered pork chops with hash browns but got a potato pancake on the side instead of hash browns. I ordered eggs, fake bacon, toast and hash browns. My toast and potatoes came out first, but they completely forgot my eggs and bacon. I got my eggs after I finished my toast and potatoes and my bacon came out not until after I finished my eggs. The potatoes on all our orders were partially undercooked, and my eggs tasted like an orange was sprinkled on top. They usually put an orange on the side of all eggs which is fine, but I don’t like when my eggs actually like they have orange seasoning, I couldn’t really eat them. Two of our party ordered omelettes and hash browns. Both omelettes were wrong, and one hash brown was forgotten. Again our waiter was very good, but it was just too many mistakes from the kitchen. I usually love this place so I am very disappointed, but like I said, I really like this this place so I will try again for sure.

I don’t know what we missed, maybe that we came for dinner and its more of a breakfast place? The food took a very long time even though they were not busy. The man serving us, I think was the owner, was very sweet. I reeeeaaaallly disliked the food. The potatoes were hard as rocks. Couldnt finish it.

Though the previous reviews rave about the place, I felt that our first visit to Kumquat Mae’s left something to be desired. I was intrigued as I walked into the building that used to be Harry Bissett’s and I think a Mexican restaurant for a short while — I wondered if Kumquat’s would be the one to make it at this location. Upon entry, there was a glass display of yummy looking baked goods — cookies, muffins, etc. and a sign that said please wait to be seated. We waited a few minutes before someone walked by us and told us someone else would be right with us. That was annoying. A minute later, a young lady came and sat us at a booth. Our friendly waiter stopped by to greet us and then brought us the coffees we ordered. For a café, I expected the coffee to be better than it was. We ordered the eggs Benedict with sausage and a side of grits and the chocolate chip banana pancakes. The sausage on the eggs Benedict was overcooked and chewy/hard and it all came out lukewarm. It must have been sitting for a little while before it was brought out. The grits were hot and really good, though. The buttermilk pancakes were good and is probably the only reason I might go back. You can order them a la carte for $ 2 each(+ 50¢ for each topping). Our waiter was extremely friendly. It is nice to have a local breakfast place on the west side of town, but I can see why it wasn’t crowded. It has potential but I wouldn’t give it four stars yet. I might try it again for lunch.

Came in a few days ago on a Sunday. My food was amazing and the server was very attentive. The Bloody Mary’s from the bar were out standing, best I have ever had and the price was on point too. The bar tender informed me all drink mixes will be made in house rather than being bought pre-made, which is a major plus. I’ll definitely be back more. Only real complaint I had was, one of the servers, a lady with curly, longer, dark hair, I believe I heard the bar tender call her Cat or something, seemed really frantic and rude. You could tell her attitude was stressing out the other servers. But aside from this everything was amazing.

I dined infrequently at the former establishment in Watkinsville and was pleased when it relocated nearer to my home in Athens. I eat breakfast here frequently and occasionally dinner. I found that the meals are high quality and the wait staff friendly. The breakfast items are numerous and reasonably priced. I suspect they are still fine tuning the operation at the new location and wish they would open earlier for the full breakfast menu. This is a great addition to an area of Athens when a good breakfast place is hard to find.
