Courtyard Athens Downtown

I really would like to give 2.5 but we all know I can’t. This hotel is okay’ish but if you are a female business traveller look elsewhere.

Terrific staff. CRAPPY mattresses that sleep like a box spring. Double rooms are tiny full size beds.

This is not the Marriott experience you are looking for:
Trash in my room was not picked up for the three days I was there
The bathroom floor was dirty and sticky
The corner of the bathroom floor smelled of urine
There was a missing toilet paper bar that was never replaced
There was no free water
There was no safe in the room
The AC unit rattled
I was very happy to leave!

The reason why I wrote this review at this strange time is that I had been woken up at 3 AM (NOT PM) by a couple of very loud chatting people in the backyard outside of my window. I would’ve called the police were it around my house. However, the front desk lady said that she could not ask them to leave because they were just smoking out there. After I complained a couple of times (half an hour apart), I was suggested to move to another room. Yes, I was asked to move, not the smokers, at 3:30 AM.
If you want to be woken up and evacuated at 3 AM, welcome to Marriott Downtown Athens!

I cannot express the love I have for the staff here. Not only was our initial contact amazingly helpful but walked us to our room but when we needed a fridge they brought one immediately. We were given maps and directions, plus local bars/​restaurants. We came in late and our charger for a phone wouldn’t work. Luckily the staff had a charger for us!

We stayed for one night. During check in, the employees had great customer service. The lobby was clean and looked like it was recently redone. The room itself was clean and met expectations. The only problem we had was the shower was stopped up and it felt dirty. We let them know when we were checking out so hopefully that’s fixed now. We will be staying here for our trips to Athens in the future.

The location of this hotel is the best thing about this property. We were able to walk to the restaurants and to the Georgia Theatre.
The room was clean and all the staff were helpful and cheerful.
I have ‘high floor and away from the elevator’ in my file. We were placed in the farthest corner away from the elevator on the top floor (the second floor). I like when my requests are honored.

Good service, Good price, spacious. Close to local restaurants. You can send emails out via Microsoft Outlook (huge plus).
The only drawback is the hotel is like a maze when I was trying to locate my room. The rooms are a little old, but does not feel like it’s a shanty. Great for people looking for a low cost place.

Class act. Close to the action in Athens.
Came here for a night for work. The lady at the front desk was cheerful, helpful, talkative but not overly so, and kind.
I was leery when I saw that the doors were OUTSIDE the hotel, which makes you think motel slash creepy slash everything, but there is ALSO a door inside, which makes the place quite awesome. The rooms are a smidge smaller here than regular Courtyards, but who cares. This place is a block or two from all the action, walkable, and it is a true Courtyard Marriott with all the amenities if you’re into what they offer. Plus Athens is simply awesome. Good choice!

First and last time here.
Think long and hard about all (and I mean all) your alternate options before choosing this property. As stated in other reviews, this isn’t your typical Courtyard you may expecting. More of a motel feel.
Also, know that this property faces and opens up toward a large frat property which sits next door and which is having a loud party with an outdoor DJ as we speak.
When I asked the front desk if, by chance, they had any earplugs we got an odd cock of the head and a «no» from the manager. As though being reassuring, she told us that the noise ordinance in Athens says they have to shut it down by midnight. Not cool, Marriott. Not cool. Maybe they should disclose that, periodically, you can’t go to sleep before midnight if you choose to stay here. Silly me for thinking that last night’s loud noise and wretching in the bushes was some anomoly.
First and last time here. First and last time…

Clean and comfortable rooms. But no free breakfast :(Starbucks café available in the lobby with higher prices and limited selection. In fact the special coffee drinks have to be ordered in the Grande vs Tall size which jumps the price. I ordered a slice of lemon pound cake it was frozen solid! espresso was just fine as expected of starbucks. Easy parking and access to rooms. Nice view of pool and courtyard if you get a interior room. Get a room in the 200’s so you don’t have to use elevator.

The front desk worker, Kevin, saved the day after a horrible experience at the Travelodge. My friend and I came in on a packed game day thinking there would not be any vacancy, but we were pleasantly surprised when there was a room available. Not only did Kevin store our luggage (since we couldn’t check in until later), he also comped us parking and gave us complimentary wine (much needed). The hotel has been renovated so there is a bar, coffee place, and seating area with TVs in the booths. The deck overlooking the pool is also quite nice and a great place to relax. We typically stay at the Hilton downtown, but after receiving this level of service, it is safe to say we will be staying here from now on.

Very nicely renovated Marriott. However, only 4 stars for having the strangest Marriott property I’ve been to yet… The staff is nice but they forgot to call my room after I checked in, which is a pet peeve after staying at Marriotts that do call. Clean, quiet and an overall nice stay.

No your ordinary Courtyard Marriott property. The purchased the hotel and stuck the Courtyard name on the place that is about it. The hotel layout, room size, etc. are not the same as other Courtyard’s I have stayed at.
Positives: You can walk from downtown (the Holiday Inn is closer), the out door pool is decent size.
Negatives: The location of the property does not seem like the place they would normally put a Marriott. The entrance into some of the rooms is directly from the outside not an interior hallway, not bad just different.
An okay place to stay, not top line by any stretch.

I recently stayed here with my boyfriend and we really liked it. We are used to staying at Hilton’s when we travel but we wanted something a little cheaper so we went with the Marriott. My favorite part about this hotel is that the rooms are like little houses on the outside with stoops and everything it’s adorable. The room and bathroom were really clean as well. I would definitely go back and stay here again. Oh and ps. if you’re active duty you get a great discount!
